Hi there, I've recently purchased a yotaphone 2 and am slowly getting to grips with it.
The first thing I've noticed is that the OS is Android 4.4.3, even though the manual specifies that it is 4.4.4!?
I obviously tried the system update but to no avail. Is anyone else on 4.4.3 or is it just me?
Also I again through the manual notice it mentions YotaNotes which sounds useful, but doesn't appear to be on my device?
Model: YD201
Build number: KTU84L.4.4.3-S01-003-EU1.0.3.61a
Any help appreciated.
Many thanks

Mine is running 4.4.3 too, I think it's the latest version available as of now. Where in the manual did you read that it should run 4.4.4? In the French version of the manual, at least, the only reference to the Android version gives 4.4 Kitkat, nothing more precise.

Same here, I didn't read the manual before but I don't seem to have YotaNotes on my phone either (same model & build number).
Seems worth asking Yotaphone, I'd say...
Ah APOLOGIES its says kitKat 4.4 my mistake:
http://yotaphone.com/help/yotaphone2/en/
But still defo missing YotaNotes. I'll facebook message them and let you know.
Good to know I appear to be on the latest build.
Just trying to get my Play books to appear in Yotareader. Any ideas?

Me too, except for Kobo books, I can't seem to get them into yota reader, although the kobo reader app mirrors well enough plus doing it that way it syncs to my actual kobo ebook but the yota reader definately has much better contrast
Sent from my GT-N8010 using XDA Premium HD app
Good point!
Actually PlayBooks app mirrors quite well, so think that should do the job.

I use Calibre, a nice ebook management freeware, to manage/convert my whole ebook collection on my PC. I usually convert everything to the epub format (I have a couple of Kindle and Kobo readers at home for the whole family), and have no issue to get them on YotaReader. Except, of course, that it won't sync with my Kobo, which is an annoyance.
I'm glad to read that you can sync the reading progress between the Kobo reader app & reader, during my initial tests I wasn't able to achieve this, so I'll try again now that I know it is possible.

I have been playing with the store demo for the T-mobile HD2 for the last couple of days. Mostly I'm very impressed with the phone, but the one thing that is driving me crazy is that Google reader is completely useless from the browser. I have tried opera 9.7, opera 10, and opera mini and all of them mangled the formatting to to point that it is unusable. The mobile site is not any better. Any solutions?
Thanks
I use the RSS reader included in the HD2 and export my google reader subscriptions to it.
Google should really bring out an app for that. Otherwise just sort out their website.
there is an google reader app on opnmarket but i think the link is down at the moment

I've tried it but performance is poor
I'm not tied to google reader
I should mention that I'm not tied to using Google reader, I like using Google reader because I can access it from my phone and my computer and and keep it in sync between the two. I would be open to trying other rss readers with the same ability if anyone has alternative suggestions.

if you use iphone link of Google Reader with Iris Browser will be a perfect couple.
excelent tip, really liked!
Thanks!
Thats freaking perfect Thank you.
This above mentioned Speeedreader works perfect for me, I use it for months now, and I'm really content with it.
A new version is coming soon I've read.
Perfect tip indeed!
I was just going to buy SmartRSSTouch just for this. Now it seens I don't need it anymore.
Thanks!
There doesnt seem to be a way to add a star on the iphone reader page.
I've been using smartrsstouch for months, best greader i've tried. Only issue, it keeps asking for userid and password when used over 3G.
Awesome tip, thank you! The standard reader was impossible to use...
Any tips on how to contact the speedreader developer in an attempt to report (and hopefully get a fix for) a bug with right to left feeds display ? This is, more or less, the only thing that voids me from using it. Note that SmartRSSTouch got an identical issue as well.
Bug description: RTL list entries are displayed with the html code, that is supposed to switch the list entry to RTL, shown as text instead of being applied to the list entry. Reproducible with any RTL feed (anything Hebrew or Arabic should do), for example, this feed - http://www.ynet.co.il/Integration/StoryRss2.xml
Found some solution online but couldn't try them cause I haven't received my N7 yet to try them out:
GameShare
DataSync
GameOn
Also is there an app that sync where you stopped at your timeline? that would be great.
Can you share your experience if you tried them? if not try and tell your experience to the Android realm : )
Hands down datasync. Well to be fair I haven't tried the other two, but that's because I never had to. Datasync works flawlessly even when it first got released for me. I used that to transfer some save data from a few apps today when I got my N7. Give them all a try but definitely start with DataSync.
Thank You!
What about twitter? is there any twitter app with timeline position sync.
the only solution I've found is using TweetMarker. which am trying when N7 arrives

Tweetmarker works quite well. The only two Twitter apps that I know of that use it are Plume and Tweetlanes. Tweetlanes isn't officially supported on tablets though, but the developer makes the apk availabale here: https://plus.google.com/104649936579980037256/posts/53SL5vZ3kZL
Boid is meant to add Tweetmarker support, but their development of key features isn't exactly quick so I wouldn't hold out.
Any idea if there is anything I can do about this?
I could describe the problem, but the pictures attached do a better job!!
NB: The Last picture shows the on-screen controls are not corrupted, just the video.
BTW... Netflix support were hopeless..

I had the exact same issue and with trying multiple ROMS, the only one that worked was an old one. It is software-build related.
The build that worked for me was "update_mk808b_400j1401" I found via one of these links that the eBay seller sent me:
1) http://www.mk808.com/MK808/en/Download.html
2) http://blog.geekbuying.com/index.php/firmware-download/
I used flashing software found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2070390
It works great, but not their latest Android Build...
I did have issues trying to find Android Phone software working with this device build, but LANmote is a pretty good solution, and the only one I could get to work. I tried like 4 paid versions of apps for this stick, and this is the only one I got to work... Most services(/servers on the machine?) didn't want to start and/or function with this build.
I was thinking about buying another ROKU, but for 1/2 the price and a full-featured Android PC for half the price of a ROKU, I knew what the better choice was!
("Android phone" remote control "android touchpad" tablet control "use android phone for HTPC stick control" MK808B)
Is this build I referenced working for you?
I got sick of the antiquated interface, and tried a build for 1080p...
Works GREAT, until I was streaming Netflix for a while and the screen just went black.
Maybe I will try a finless ROM.
Hi,
I tried finless 1.7, and it works great! An older version of JB, but that's fine, I can live with that!
Thanks for the help.

Does the build it have a Reboot option? Screen off function (suspend/sleep)?
Do USB to wired Ethernet dongles function due to the kernel change, that worked with stock?

I have 2 on the way, should arrive by May 2, and I will let you know how those $4.99 10/100 dongles work...
Some guy in the UK bought them for his, and this looks like the same ones, but I will verify before dropping a link to the adapter, as this is public.
I got the 10/100 dongle and it worked OOTB, after enabling in settings, no config, just plugged it in enabled Ethernet, and it pulled HDCP from Cat5.
Here is a link if anyone wants a wired connection: http://www.ebay.com/itm/350766060467
$4.99
I did have some lag in streaming, but this even happens on Netflix via my Roku sometimes, even with my 50Mbps/25Mbps pipe.
BTW I have been running "Stock plus goodies" from here on XDA, and it has been pretty stable...
a solution

Hi,
I have same problem with netflix. I bought this device only for netflix and youtube (because Samsung Smart TV is a sucks). My device is a android 4.2. I did read here and on others sites about this problema and the solution is install android 4.1. With your links a found this instructions on this link:
http://blog.geekbuying.com/index.ph...pc-new-factory-firmware-release/#.Ua4K5EBwrqU
I downloaded the files "update_mk808b_400j1401", drivers and flashing software.
I can't perform these instructions because my PC doesn't recognize the device. I have a Windows 7 x64. I plug my device into my PC and nothing happens. On some posts I did read that is necessary to use Windows XP. Oh god, I don't believe this!
I need a help to solve this problem. Can you post to me a way to install this 4.1 rom on my device, step by step, the way you solved on your device?
I tryed to install a oldest versions of netflix, but the problem did not solved. I like very much that device with a 4.2, I would like to keep this version. Is there a fix of Android 4.2 of MK808B to solve this problem? Do you know?
Thanks!

Hi nonpaq!!! Thank you very much!!! Your apk solved my problem and I didn't need to change the Android :good:. I will use a lot to say if this apk is stable, I will post here if it is ok. This netflix apk version is the prove that the problem is on the netflix app and not the Android. I will send an email to Netflix about this problem, let me see what they will answer...
Thanks everybody!

It's a somewhat complex process, but there are step by step instructions in the readme file included with the finless ROMs. I found that getting the drivers installed was the hardest part. I also found that using the reset switch was easier if I opened the case.

Hello, I'm hoping someone can answer some questions for me. I've looked through the forum but can't find solid answers.
1. I gather from the existing threads that there is a 'new' nook simple touch with glowlight that can't be rooted at present. How can I identify whether the nook I'm buying is this new model or not?
2. How is the glowlight operated? Can it be switched on while using other readers such as the Kindle app?
3. Is the Google Play Books app available to use on a rooted nook?
Thanks in advance to anyone that can answer.
The new one has a white frame, no side buttons and no SD card.
Yes, it can be rooted. See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2559915
Thanks for that. Seems most places here are still just selling the old model at the moment.
Could you shed any light on my other questions?
2. How is the glowlight operated? Can it be switched on while using other readers such as the Kindle app?
Turning the light on doesn't depend on any application as it shall turn on globally for Nook, like switching on and off the penlight. As simple as that. It should even turn on when Nook is blocked with screensaver when you press "n" button for 2 sec (and turn off when pressed again for 2 sec)

I shall be buying one later today
Hey all,
The other day Read It Later stopped updating with the Pocket website online. I'm getting a dialogue that it is syncing lists but nothing else is happening, even if I leave it to try for half an hour. I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this!
I'm running a rooted Nook Simple Touch with software version 1.1.0.
Read It Later is the Pro 1.3 version.
I should be clear, the app is no longer downloading new articles or taking them out of the to-read queue when syncing. It is accessing my archive, so some kind of connection is still present!
Edit: found it elsewhere on this site. Will fire it up this evening and let you know if it works!
Actually I came here today hoping someone might share a copy of readitlater.apk with me? My NST recently broke, I bought another, but sadly hadn't backed up all my apks and so now can't get at anything! Pocket are refusing to send me the apk of the old version. If you would be willing to send me your apk, I can see if it works for me -- or if it is now indeed borked for everyone. [I did pay for read it later pro back in the day, I am not trying to nick something, though you'll just have to take my word for that....]

Sorry -- still alive here, but life has been unexpectedly busy and I haven't been able to play with my nook. Hopefully this weekend.
Here's my current workaround: I use IFTTT to sync any new Read It Later addittion to Instapaper, and then I use Instafetch (which works on the Nook) to read them there. The free version lets you read 10 articles at a time.
The issue with this is that I need to check off the read articles in Read It Later, since the activities in Instapaper don't sync back to Read It Later.
But there might be an IFTTT receipe for that...
So, did y'all see this post?
I had not. I had followed that thread to get the Kindle working, but it looks like whatever the problem was went beyond Kindle. I followed the directions, starting using the 1.0.1 app instead of 1.3 Pro, and it's syncing again! Hooray!
Read it Later / Pocket was probably my heaviest usage of the Nook so I was really wondering what I was going to do if it was terminally gone.
(My Instapaper -> Instafetch workaround was a bit glitchy...)
Anyone following this follow nmyshkin's link!
