Whenever i try to see howlong a call was/when it was, i go to that tab,and the phone just freezes up without any text or whatever..
it still responds, but it just won't show the homescreen...
i have some modds/apps installed , could that be it?

I noticed.. when I open up my phone and try to close it, it will not close. I try to close all, close it individually, and the phone icon will just sit there no matter what I do.
So then I go in and check the "Dont show when inactive" and it finally got rid of it..
Now I noticed when I load up my phone, the icon isn't a phone icon anymore.. instead I get a broken MS note icon thing..
Anyone else have this problem?
I've tried to go back in and uncheck the "dont show when inactive", and the icon is still broken.. also tried a soft reset.. still a broken icon.
The Phone app does not close once you open Speed Dial or History. This is not a problem. Get a better Close Button app like HandySwitcher or, even better, wClose.
If I am in the text messaging screen in landscape mode, and close the phone into portrait mode, the screen does not completely rotate.
The top portion of the screen switches, and the bottom menu bar switches, but there is a section about 1/3 the size of the screen that remains in landscape mode until I close the text message program.
It only does it in texting, no other programs cause this problem with the screen, and it has only started doing it since I hard reset the phone.
Any help??
Yeah, texting does some strange stuff for me too. Sometimes when I push the button to select the contact i want to text it takes quite awhile for it to bring up the texting screen. And yes, same as you on the switching from landscape.
hmm.... That's wierd. I cant seem to find anything else relating to this problem
i am having the same problem also.. but recently it stopped.. idk wuts going on?
well, i figured out what the problem was with mine. It was doing it because I hacked the registry for the SIP to completely kill the pop-up keyboard. After re-enabling it, no more screen issue.
This has happened a few times, and the only way I've been able to fix is a reboot...while other times it has seemed to resolve on its own after several minutes. Just wondering if there's an easier way to fix or avoid this issue.
Basically, when I go to make a call or open contacts, the screen is grayed out with the word/icon in the middle of the screen for Contacts, Faves, Phone, Call log, or Voicemail - depending on what I select at the bottom. Even though the screen is grayed out, I notice you can still select and perform actions on the screen behind it (e.g., I can still use the dial pad and make calls, or scroll through contacts, etc, etc). Has anyone else had this problem?
Edit: I use Visionary temproot only (only for adfree at this point), and not sure if it happens both when rooted and when not. No other customizations or non-stock stuff. I've noticed it for the past couple weeks, but only a few times (maybe like 5x?).

Might help if you included variables such as: are you rooted? Do you have a custom ROM installed? Do you have a custom Kernel installed? Have you done anything "not stock" to your phone? When did this first start happening?
You get the picture.
I am trying to solve this issue for my mom. She is running completely stock from Verizon. The issue is when she tries to forward a text message from the stock app, it occasionally will not recognize the long press on the text bubble. The issue seems to be intermittent . When I attempted to test the issue, it was having no problems, then I closed all open processes / applications and the problem reappeared.
When I attempt a long press on the text bubble, it will grey out for a split second, then act as if I never touched the screen. However it recognizes the touch to scroll if that makes sense. The problem seems isolated to the text messaging app. A long press in Gmail still will start the copy / paste function.
I pulled the battery and loaded the messaging app first and the problem seems to start from start up. Unless there is a process that loads on startup that I need to make inactive.
Anyone else have a similar issue, or possible solution?
This has happened twice today. I am using the phone and the voice typing display will not go away. I can use the phone.. .i can go to the homescreen, open apps, look at settings, etc, but i cannot close the voice prompt, and i can't use it.
It essesentially makes the phone useless until i reboot.
I am not sure why it is doing this. Not rooted nor unlocked or anything.. just stock.
The other thing it is doing is that sometimes when i wave my hand over the screen i will see the unlock screen. it will have the time and a lock icon below it ... if i touch the lock icon, it moves to a lower (on the screen) position and when i re adjust to hit the lock again it moves back up. Not sure how to screen shot this... maybe a video from a different phone.
when this happens, it will unlock by pressing the power button. I think this has something to do with the smart lock. DAMN google for forcing you to have a lock when you use Android Pay. Never had this problem on my Note 4 with Wallet.
Anyway, any help on either of these bugs would be appreciated
ok, i can reproduce the bug.
can someone else try this to confirm?
- with the phone screen off have someone send you a text message.
- swipe up directly to messages. ( use the google one, but i am not sure if it matters.)
- reply to the message with a google voice typing
- hit the power button to turn off the screen.
- Have the person text you again.
- open message by swiping up to it.
At this point the tap to speak screen will be there and not go away until you reboot.
no one else?
here is a video showing the problem I can't believe I am the only one experiencing this

I can try it when I get my phone, but that's a few weeks away...
