I am trying to solve this issue for my mom. She is running completely stock from Verizon. The issue is when she tries to forward a text message from the stock app, it occasionally will not recognize the long press on the text bubble. The issue seems to be intermittent . When I attempted to test the issue, it was having no problems, then I closed all open processes / applications and the problem reappeared.
When I attempt a long press on the text bubble, it will grey out for a split second, then act as if I never touched the screen. However it recognizes the touch to scroll if that makes sense. The problem seems isolated to the text messaging app. A long press in Gmail still will start the copy / paste function.
I pulled the battery and loaded the messaging app first and the problem seems to start from start up. Unless there is a process that loads on startup that I need to make inactive.
Anyone else have a similar issue, or possible solution?

Hi All,
I've tried various search strings looking for an answer to my issue but found nothing related. Anyone else have an intermittent problem whereby pressing softkey for "Messaging" yields no body or list, only a title bar and softkey menu as normal? When it occurs, I just see the Today Screen where either the message contents or list of messages should be displayed. After some fumbling and clicking around I can usually get the content/list to appear. I only noticed this problem when I first loaded summiter's ROM but now I have the official Cingular ROM loaded and problem still exists.

can you access the messaging if you go through the start menu or do you have the same problem there??

Thanks for response, yes, softkey is mapped; as I mentioned earlier, when you launch messaging, I get only the top and bottom elements of the program (Title, New, Menu) but the middle content (message, list of) is missing)--you see only the Today Screen in foreground.
It happened to me as well once I started to force 'exit' on all the apps instead of just minimizing them. Part of Pocket Plus close button.
I'm not sure if this is the same case as you are experiencing but it looks like after the Messaging program is completely terminating, the softkey cannot launch the complete program. I was still able to launch it from the start menu with no problems (sounds very strange, I know).
The way I recovered from that is to put the "Messaging" program in the exception list of the close program; this way it stays in memory and I get the messaging complete program every time I press the softkey now.

interesting thought... well, i don't use that program BUT i am using smartkey and that likely shares the same process SO i will try that from now on after soft-reset and report back...

Hey guys, I love my HD2 but recently ive been having some terrible issues.
I text alot and it really irritates me that when i go to type a text it takes 30 seconds to allow me to do so, it will just be completely unresponsive for those 30 seconds.
Then also anytime i go to change the keys to " £ $ ? symbols and numbers it jumps the cursor back randomly so im still typing before i realise its typing in completely the wrong place.
Im also having the phone do random things without me letting it, it removed the lock screen by itself which i cannot get back and before that it was automatically changing the background and the weather service would randomly select strange citys?

sounds like things have gone askew, maybe if all else fails you can do a hard reset (ensuring you back up any data you need first).

That's the SMS load delay bug that has been discussed a lot on these forums. It occurs whenever you have more than a few messages from a person, and the phone tries to load all the old sms messages from that person, but it does it extremely slow. HTC may or may not be aware of it, the hotfix on their site for SMS doesn't seem to fix it. At the moment, your options are to delete SMS history, or to disable HTC Messaging and using Microsofts default SMS (requires regsistry hacking).

Some people have reported that they got an overly responsive screen, I would suggest you try and replace your phone (or simply return it like I did because you can never trust a SMS message has been sent when you send it with HTC Messaging, another bug without solution). The wether
services choosing odd cities might be because of yet another bug that fails to correctly pinpoint your location for the weather app.

I have this fault, and I think it started after the text messaging hotfix, I am going to uninstall; that fix and see if it solves the problem. Have you installed that fix?
Nope, that didn't fix it - is anyone else experiencing this? When I click on the ""12#" (symbol) hey, the cursor jumps back to a point earlier in the test message. Usually it jumps to the last place that I pressed that button.
This only occurs in the HTC SMS Messaging.
I uninstalled the SMS hotfix and restarted the phone but it's still occuring.
Got the same problem here with the cursor jumping back using "12#". I have installed all latest official HTC updates, but none have solved this problem. Really annoying ;(
Anyone got a workaround or custom fix for this?

You can use myphone to back up and archieve your text messages regularly. This will then delete them off your phone but you can still access them on the web if you want to. Keeps the number of messages low and solves the delay problem.

Me too, i got the same problem!
The last thing i installed was the sim contact update.
But at the moment i dont know if i have the problem before that update..
to type immediately without the 30s delay, simply press send and then no then tap again and you should be able to immediately type.
I do also have the number/symbols bug and it annoys the hell out of me! would love anyone that could find a solution to this!
My client has this problem which seems like a bug but I'm not sure.
Whenever he starts typing in the search widget or in the market search field - what happens is that two or more seconds later it loses focus and the text is gone (or it gets submitted? I'll ask him). Either way he can't use it because he doesn't get enough typing.
Any ideas?

Has anyone experienced an issue in the HTC Messages app where you tap a message thread, and the green highlight suddenly jumps to another thread entirely and opens that? I've been experiencing this issue more and more lately and it's getting quite frustrating. I'm not really interested in switching apps...tried Handcent and didn't really like it. Stock app is reliable and functional. Curious if there's a way to alleviate this.
Yes...mine has been starting to do that aswell. Not sure what the cause it...but I never experienced it until a week or two ago. I almost sent a text to the wrong person and it would have been very, very bad.

this isn't the same issue but i couldn't type at all. I'd click the box to reply to a message and the keyboard would pop up (i use swype) but i couldn't do anything. then i switched back to the regular keyboard and when i started to type a search box popped up at the top and started typing there, ignoring the already open text input box. I had to type my message in the search box then copy and paste it into the message box. Force closing the app then redoing it worked fine.

if you're using a task killer, make sure that swype is on the ignore list, or it could get killed, and then needs to be restarted for it to show up (I believe).
I'm also having the issues with the touch jumping. It's usually from the second person from the top, jumping down to the second to bottom in the stock msging app
So randomly, but only a couple of times a day or every other day, ims.services stops working, also everytime I try to place a phone call, ims.services stops working, and the call automatically ends and goes to the screen right after a call that has the call back button on the left, view contact up above, the text message button on the right and video call in the center. If I click on the call back button then the call will go through. Does anyone have any suggestions or solutions for solving that issue?
The second issue, the keyboard one is as follows. I use SwiftKey 3,and ONLY when I'm typing in Chrome, the text prediction will not show an entire word, it only shows the letter I had just typed, and at the end of every word when I press the space bar (pressing the space bar automatically selects the center word prediction) it will add a second of the same letter to the end. For example, the word, "world" would be, "worldd". Now this ONLY occurs when I'm using Chrome. Does anyone have any solutions, or suggestions for this one as well?

U might have to try a few things im no proffesional so take with a grain of salt..the 1st issue i never had so either a downloaded app interfering with things or u jus needa clear your cache up a bit..for chrome you can try lookinf at ya swiftkey auto correct settings n jus turn it off n see if it solves dat issue

You did not say whether you are rooted or unrootted, and if the latter if you are on a custom ROM (assuming you are not).
If you are on stock OEM and have not updated it recently, that would fix it - as it overwrites the entire ROM and would clear this up. Whichever firmware/ROM version you are on, you could ODIN the AP module and that would also write over your problem.
As for Chrome - I don't use it.
