I noticed.. when I open up my phone and try to close it, it will not close. I try to close all, close it individually, and the phone icon will just sit there no matter what I do.
So then I go in and check the "Dont show when inactive" and it finally got rid of it..
Now I noticed when I load up my phone, the icon isn't a phone icon anymore.. instead I get a broken MS note icon thing..
Anyone else have this problem?
I've tried to go back in and uncheck the "dont show when inactive", and the icon is still broken.. also tried a soft reset.. still a broken icon.
The Phone app does not close once you open Speed Dial or History. This is not a problem. Get a better Close Button app like HandySwitcher or, even better, wClose.

anyone know what would cause this and how to fix it? REALLY annoying. The only things on my today screen are spb whether and tomtom. Nothing exotic. Any ideas?
spb "whether" sounds pretty exotic, where'd you get it from? i only have spb weather... sorry just messing with you ;D
umm.. what do you mean you can't get back to the today screen, are you trying to say nothings loading on it? or apps won't close? Maybe you have to many programs running and they're eating up your memory. Get SPB Pocket Plus or Magic Button and see if that helps.
i have magic button. What i mean is that i can't seem to close apps and get back to the todayscreen. the apps just won't close for some reason.
Try InClose Mobile instead of Magic Button - much better
I have the same problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=275030
But I haven't found a solution for this .....
Remove the plugins one by one.. and determine which one is the one causing the problem.
I'm my case the problem is not related to a today-plugin.
It's just that for some reason it is possible to 'close' the todayscreen when tapping in the right-top corner.
Sometimes it DOES do that and sometimes it WON'T, but I can't figure out the conditions.
Today visible
Is the problem that if you close apps, you see the word Today in the upper left, but the most recently viewed app still shows as the body?
I had this problem, and now don't; I think moving to 2.26 ROM fixed it, but it could have been the rebuilding associated with moving to 2.26 (which cleaned out leftovers from uninstalled apps). In any case, a workaround was to open calendar and close it, which would bring back Today.
Your workaround didn't work for me.
Additional note: when the problem occurs, it always shows me my phone-screen or call-list instead of the todayscreen.
When I select 'today' using the start-button in the top-left corner nothing happens.
Any other application form the start-menu does work fine.
I have used the registry hacks to get rid of the battery icon and the wireless manager icon from the bottom tray. However, when I switch the phone to vibrate, there is still an icon there that shows up (a black rectangle with a red line around it). Is there a hack to stop that icon from showing?
I guess that is a no?
I would like to know if this is possible also.
There is a shortcut on my Hermes called 'TrayIcon_MannerMode' pointing to /Windows/TrayIcon_Mannermode.exe but nothing seems to happen when I run it.....
Think twice before you remove comm manager from there as it make boot unstable and device very slow.
This would not be a full solution, but could the icon simply be shrunk (ie. to 1 pixel tall) so that it if it was the only thing in the tray at least it would steal minimal screen real-estate ?
Mike
I was able to remove that icon by disabling TrayIcon_MannerMode from the list on the startup items. The problem is that after doing that it became impossible for me to activate the vibrate mode using the default hardware key (long press on commmgr key). If you are fine with that then perhaps you could try it.

Can you tell me where you find the list of startup items? I am not the best at this stuff.
Thanks.

Sometimes when I enter a new task or appointment and I want to save it, the ' Ok' icon on top of the screen has disappeared. Only option I have then is to cancel and try again....quite annoying, anyone else experiences this - or has a fix ? Thanks in advance...
The OK icon is sometimes dimmed (as if disabled) but it does still work if you press it.

I'm not so sure that's the case, but we'll see within one or two days !
Yes, it does sometimes dim / disappear when you've clicked away from it. Just tap on the area where it usually is and it'll reappear.

Well, forget it...just 5 mins ago it happened again. But no matter if I press softly or firmly, the HD doesn't respond so it's back to cancel and try again :=(
I'm just thinking: I recently disabled the WM 6.1 option to have the running program list in the right top of the screen. Maybe that is causing my problems.
Does anyone know how to reactivate this setting ?
First off, very impressed with the phone, but just trying to figure out this problem; did a bit of a search first and I couldn't find anything concrete so I wanted to see if you guys could replicate it or think of a fix.
When using the default internet browser, if I hit the button in the top right to open a new browser window, it will go into the "window manager" screen. From there if I hit the "add window" button in the top right with a plus sign, it won't do anything. The only way I can open new windows is if I use the menu button on the bottm left. Furthermore, if there are multi windows open and I try to close one, it will give me the "Unfortunately the internet has stopped" message. Same thing happens if I try to back out of the "window manager" screen.
Any thoughts?
dont use the default browser because its terrible
Yeah I figured I'd probably end up using Chrome anyways, just wondering if anybody else is having this problem or if it's a bigger issue with my phone.

Im experiencing the same problem when I try to close windows in the stock browser.
I have no solution for you but hope that by posting this it will draw the attention of someone who has a solution.
And yes, other browsers are probably better but I think ALL stock software should work flawless.
Yes i was have same problem (dont have find this thread) :

Only one solution wich i found is: FACTORY RESET

This has happened twice today. I am using the phone and the voice typing display will not go away. I can use the phone.. .i can go to the homescreen, open apps, look at settings, etc, but i cannot close the voice prompt, and i can't use it.
It essesentially makes the phone useless until i reboot.
I am not sure why it is doing this. Not rooted nor unlocked or anything.. just stock.
The other thing it is doing is that sometimes when i wave my hand over the screen i will see the unlock screen. it will have the time and a lock icon below it ... if i touch the lock icon, it moves to a lower (on the screen) position and when i re adjust to hit the lock again it moves back up. Not sure how to screen shot this... maybe a video from a different phone.
when this happens, it will unlock by pressing the power button. I think this has something to do with the smart lock. DAMN google for forcing you to have a lock when you use Android Pay. Never had this problem on my Note 4 with Wallet.
Anyway, any help on either of these bugs would be appreciated
ok, i can reproduce the bug.
can someone else try this to confirm?
- with the phone screen off have someone send you a text message.
- swipe up directly to messages. ( use the google one, but i am not sure if it matters.)
- reply to the message with a google voice typing
- hit the power button to turn off the screen.
- Have the person text you again.
- open message by swiping up to it.
At this point the tap to speak screen will be there and not go away until you reboot.
no one else?
here is a video showing the problem I can't believe I am the only one experiencing this
