Using Blackstone's Android for the HD2 - HD2 General

It is possible that I go over to the HD's forum, take the android build and use it for the HD2?
I guess, what's wrong with doing that? Will it work or will it damage my HD2?

With 142 posts under your belt I'd hope you would already know the answer to that and thus wouldnt have posted, but as you have posted I guess I should reply to stop you making a big mistake.
The HD and HD2 are completely different hardware, so best case it wouldn't work, worst case you'll get a brick. A very attractive and slim brick, but a brick none-the-less...
DONT DO IT!

There are people with +500 posts who don't know 2G from 3G, or even the carrier/frequency they're on. I'd say it's a safe question for someone with 142 posts
Don't do it OP.

it is a big problem with me ,all my friens said that ,and it starts with me since htc promised wp7 for hd2 ,but microsoft refused because of the number of buttons it has i never trusts oem any more
I am not really familiar with rooting.
Does it actually mean we can install the plain android (2.1 or 2.2?) once someone figure how to root X10?
Sorry to be a pessimist but i truly doubt that there ever will or was root at the X10. Also the try via SETool i don't believe there ever was root archived (anyone seen proof for it ?). Sounds like a Fake to me. So after watching the whole "progress" it seems we have the first Android Device which cant be rooted. Means for us to wait in patient for SE updates and maybe we get 2.2 next Year in June. :-( so what i guess I'm going to sell my X10 as long i can still get some Money for it.

why are you being so negative in ever single root thread ? do you think the rubbish you are spouting is helping anyone ? well its not... so please stop. must the stuff you have been saying is total rubbish. like your ''it will never get root because it is not a popular phone'' comment in the other thread. its the top selling smartphone asia has ever had and it is selling amazingly well in the UK too
The motorola milestone has been out for AGES and it has not been rooted yet (technically, I think it's the bootloader that is locked...pretty much the same in terms of results).
So the X10 is not an isolated case.
What I don't understand is why these manufacturers don't realise that by making it so hard to root their phones they are actually hurting their own sales.
My only hope, regarding the X10, is that since the phone has sold 160k units in Jpana, someone might be able to root it over there.

Call HTC and tell them you made a mistake and your sorry and if they fix it for you, you will promise to 100% definately upgrade to another HTC phone in the near future.
also mention you did it because HTC wont provide you with updates for the phone

that has to be the dumbest advice i have ever heard. first of all if you want to get your phone replaced you need to contact the company you bought the phone from. HTC only produces the phones, secondly if you call whoever you bought the phone from and tell them that you did something that clearly voids your warranty then they obviously won't replace the phone for you. your best bet is to call them and say that the phone suddenly shutdown and now refuses to start. if your lucky they might replace it without any more questions.
What happens when you plug in the charger, then hold home and power up,, anything ?????

I do have a sense of humor, and yes I did realize that your post most likely was meant as a joke, However when somebody ask for help on an issue I personally think its stupid to leave a funny response that in no way helps the person in question, in addition during all my years at forums like this I have met tons people that is stupid enough to take advice like yours completely seriously and thats why I argue against it.

Can the Gingerbread build that runs in RAM be loaded from NAND?

Nope. It will blow up and explode your phone, until it becomes a smoking brick. It can also cause obnoxious diahriea and non stop crying due to bricked phone syndrome.
In all seriousness, it is possible, but there are no gingerbread roms out there yet for NAND boot.

If you dont like silly answers, dont ask silly questions. Simple!
If it was possible (currently) to run Gingerbread from NAND there would be a Gingerbread NAND rom, there isnt, so ther answer is NO.
You could have answered your own question simply by looking in the dev forum ffs, why not just use the seach function and search topic titles for the word "NAND" ????
Again, simple!
Seriously man, if you thought that my question was silly, the way you answered just gave away that you have no other life outside this blog. It's a forum!.
There are many of us who come on here as a hobby---and almost all of us have a common goal- to make our phones better. If you think we have no other life, you're wrong!
Answer to bold number one: Yes, I'm sure you would have. I tend to be very sarcastic all the time!
Answer to bold number two: No, This is NOT considered flaming. Nobody here is calling anybody any names. Nobody is making fun of anybody! Just keep it chill.
Thanks!

The OP was asking if there was a NAND RAM Gingerbread rom out there.
cant it be loaded from nand to ram as it is from sd card?it would be faster i guess and also stabler..but thats upon the brain of the forum.basically nothing of all this can happen till they make it happen..
I don't think the OP is asking if there is a NAND RAM Gingerbread rom already, but if it is possible to make a rom like this.
And although there is no such rom yet, I'm also wondering if it is possible.
(I've never used a RAM rom though)

Why is HTC protecting wildfire so much

After the release of the wildfire it took a unusual amount of time to root and now the hboot has been changed to prevent rooting I ask the question why the consumer should have the right to run roms that suits them best I refer to geohotz jailbreak with the iPhone

yeah i agree, they want to sell you newer devices with new android versions. they must also be pretty mad about the hacked app markets
Its the solemn duty p) of a company to protect its products. No product I believe has a weak security system, and, its always a cat and mouse game between the devs and the company devs. Be it iOS, Symbian, Game Consoles.. etc.
No one likes to see their product "hacked" and to be used in a manner better than it was intended to.
As far as I know the Nokia N900 and LiMo devices are very open to hacking, very much unlike Android, webOS and iOS phones.
Why would anyone protect their properties
Also maybe cos they were planning for Gingerbread release on the Wildfire, and by then they want all devices to be hackproof or something.. jus maybe..
It's to keep idiots out.
Look around the forum and look at the amount of "OMG I BRICKD DAT WILDFIRE CUZ I FLASHED TEH ROMS PLZ HALP" posts.

Anyone who posts a reason other than this is very naive.
I'll give you a reason.. It's because their support teams couldn't cope with the amount of idiots they'd get phoning them saying that their phone wasn't working anymore after they'd made a complete bodge of modding it.. Just like the guy above said..

Exactly, their cash flows in from the devices they sell. If they support old products, they won`t sell new devices, so no cash.

But if they wouldn't lock the wildfire, the chance of getting your device bricked will be lower in my oppinion. The chance that a procedure fails is directly correlated with the amount of steps, and just because the phone is that locked, people have to do 1. a multitude of steps that 2. don't use software of the phone in the way its develloped to be used -> chance to brick your phone.
Compare it to a computer: ever bricked it because you wanted to install an new OS?
Erwin
That is true
Now, I want to change the phone, because I can't flash rom.
I think HD2 is a good.
HTC is not protecting wildfire so much.
They just want to check, how good team UNREVOKED is.
Or if they are better than similar product cracking team -> greenpois0n on apple iphone 4.2.1.
Me and my HTC:Wildfire "bee" xD trust in you UNREVOKED!
Is there any idea to downgrade?

IS there a future for HD2 and WP7 ?

Will the Dark Forces Team continue development for our HD2's ?
Does anyone know if they are planning on continuing development, or does all this depend on Microsoft's updates ?
I am quite excited waiting to find out the answer.
I guess we won't know until we know unless someone has contacts within DFT?
I will continue to use WP7 even if the current version is the last for the HD2 as long as this version continues to let me buy apps from the market. Hoping that MS don't lock that aspect down.
Have Cotulla, others, and the members of the Dark Forces Team ever you let you down on past projects? Maybe that is one way of looking at the question of the OP.
I dont think there is a future.... I mean... 2012 is near and then the world will end, with or without WP7 on HD2..
Why do you ask this (stupid) question? is there a reason or info that nobody will develop anymore? Just wait or start developing yourself^^
I think things will really start to flow after Microsofts updated coming "soon". There will be no point of releasing another rom before that.

As for WP7, bit hooked to it really, actually thinking of changing my beloved HD2 for HD7, but this is such a drastic thing to do, all I wanted was just a glimmer of hope from DFT....
What do you need from DFT? Normal features should work (which are less than android only having better looks =/ )
Actually there are people working on a kitchen, MS will update and i think there will be some nice updates vom DFT in future.

At this time i wouldn't recommend to change to a new phone, I first wanted to do it myself, but then I stopped to thinking on it. Here's why:
- The smartphones will soon get a huge step forward, there will be models with dual and even quadcores in it ^^
- There will be new batteries with up to 10000 mah but they dont use the normal battery slot to fit in the phone, they are quite smaller
- The display type will soon change to Amoled, so it gets slowly standarised
Normally when you purchase a phone, you want to take it for at least 2 years, so you would miss all that (ok the new battery will take a while until it comes out )
