Hello, I had my HTC hero rooted and it was working fine but I need to put it back to factory defaults so I found 2 RUU files and neither one work and now I can't get into the nandroid or main recovery menu. On this file, RUU_Hero_C_Sprint_1.29.651.1_signed_release, I get the error 140 Bootloader Version Error. And when I try the RUU_Hero_C_Sprint_1[1].56.651.2_signed_release I get this error, error 110 File Open Error. Can someone please help me out on this one?
Uhm, I think you're screwed. You might want to start here. I know it's not a good idea to try the .29 RUU if you already had .56 on it.
Good luck...

I was following a guide to flash to boost.. but I wasn't flashing to boost but from sprint to sprint so as to avoid paying for a dataplan. Anyways.. when I copied my nv files from upstage to Epic 4G in CDMA workshop, my phone restarted and BAM! My phone gets no signal - stuck in airplane mode, Can open browsers, market.. some apps works but only a few. Unkown in baseband and firmware version under settings..
can this be solved or is my phone done for? Did I just trash my 400 bucks?
I've already tried resetting.. used odin to put in stock ROM/modem.. none of that worked. I did the 1, camera, power reset..
Thanks in advance for the help.

so, that's it? It's bricked?
I think what he means is the topic you are discussing is illegal. This thread will probably going o be closed by a mod and further discussion may get you banned. just saying.
oh... dang.. I didn't know its illegal if I was doing exchange between both phones owned by me. oh well.. then.. the mod can close it if it's illegal.. sorry.

If your are able to put the phone in download mode (1 key + power ), then you shouldn't be bricked.
You will need a full .tar file. With being able to get into download mode and a full .tar file, everything should be re-wriiten as to get rid of what "failed" That should bring your Epic back to being an "Epic". From there, you can re-try the Boost thing - - - or not.

I used a tar.md5
should I use a tar file rather? the one I used was about 280 MB..
do you know if the NV items are a part of ROM or what? because that is what I've screwed up..
Oh and thanks for being helpful rather than just telling me its illegal.. as long as I get my phone back to the way it used to be.. I dont mind.. I'm not gonna try the flash again!

use odin and re-flash.. after that, do a ##RTN# that should restore it completely to as stock as you're gonna get.
as for 'boosting' it.. we can't help ya much here.

No problem. I saw your post as a question about how to get your phone back to normal - - after a "questionable" procedure. Not one of how to actually do something questionable/illegal now. Once you get your phone back to normal, what you do after that is up to you! Now, with all that being said . . . . on to other things!
I think that if you find a full STOCK .tar file - not one that has been deodexed and pre-rooted - it will overlay all ROM files with Stock sprint files. I have one on my laptop at home and can post it for you when I get home from work if you haven't found one on your own by then.
Hope this helps!
Edit: You didn't, by chance, use the Epic-to-Boost switch that has been posted on this site for some time did you? If I'm not mistaken, it's still on here somewhere, so I think the "phone police" will probably leave you alone - - this time!!
odin wont touch the NV items.. thats wasted time. if you backed them up, then rewrite them.. if not.. that sucks. hopefully you can find someone who will back them up for you. sounds like you wrote an entire nv read from another phone to your epic, which is not a great idea, considering they are different phones, with different writable memory locations and whatnot. and you wrote something to the modem area which throws an exception in rtn reset... best bet is to take the file you wrote, and give those memory addresses to someone with an epic and ask them to read those addresses and see if writing their dump will help you..

Care to explain how you got it back? Might save someone else in the future.
i think i might be lucky this time. i tried to restore my phone like over 10 times but it always error at 76%. the next day i tried again but in my mind i dont think it will work and at that moment i was on the phone talking to Dell technical support if they can give me any advise and when i get back to the laptop the restoration still running and i got my phone back. i dont really know what exactly you should do, i tried eveything i found but nothing work. so if you get problem like me dont be so upset, patient and you got it back somehow, i hope
So I got this phone a few days ago. It was originally rooted, so I wanted to go back to factory settings just because I bought this from someone and wanted to get rid of everything. The guy failed to tell me it was an LS980. I had AT&T and installed the D800 image. Now, I can't install the LS980 because the flash tool says it's wrong. My phone will boot up, but for only 30 seconds or so. I can go to download mode.
Please give me some very precise instructions. I'm new to Android and I don't know much about them yet.

okay in this thread there is a dll that skips the check of the phone so as long as you grab the correct stock file to flash for your phone you should be able to flash back to ls980 rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2483043
edit: here is a thread that has step by step to go back to stock http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476 also you can download other files you may need there

yes because that dll bypasses the phone model check but I've never gotten that error
Anyone else have any ideas? I used that dll file that ignores checks and I get a failure saying "CrossDL [D800] to [LS980]" I've also used both of the "back to stock" and "LS980zv8" .tot
If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm phoneless right now.
Anyone?

Hello. If Your phone not operate till now, i can buy it from you. If you are interested - please write to private message. thanks.
I got a realy strange problem with my D802, this came up out of the blue.
About 2 weeks ago I suddenly lost all network functions, for a few hours, then it came back again. Later I had only 2G and realy bad phone reception. The other morning everything was fine until a few hours later I was offline again. It was just then it came to me to check my imei and it was gone
At the time I was on stock 30B with one of Dorimanx' kernels. I was using this combo for a few days already so neither rom or kernel caused this.
Since this problem occurred I've been busy with this, searching the net, flashing all kinds of KDZ's, Kernels, Roms and what else but to no evail.
I did backup my original EFS partition but restoring doesn't help. been trying to put my imei back with QPST and EFS professional but NOPE!!
Rightnow the issue has changed slightly, when I (re)boot my Device I got no imei but after a while, can be a few minutes or maybe an hour the imei comes back.
I'm out of ideas, hope any of you guys can help :fingers-crossed:. Rightnow my G2 is nothing more then a really small tablet with phone functionality when it feels like it. And I feel like turning it in to a frisbee
I put a logcat from boot there ---> http://pastebin.com/kdR13DaR
Current setup stock 30B, stock Kernel, no Xposed
Thanks in advance
Edit: added last_kms log.
Have you tried flashing a modem? Maybe it could help
Good luck

Yeah tried that also. No luck
Besides: A KDZ comes with the proper modem doesn't it?
Is there a particular piece of hardware that could be damaged or could it be the main board?
All the other stuff is working fine on my phone

That was not exactly what I had in mind. Last_kmsg is the dmesg from before the latest restart. I hope that there might be a telling message during boot, so you need to restart again and capture a current dmesg. You can do that on a command line by typing
dmesg >/sdcard/msg.txt

Yes, the new file is the one I sought. Unfortunately, it didn't tell me what's wrong with your phone. Maybe someone else is more clever...
If you haven't already done so, I suggest you try another sim-card.

tnx but I tried that already. the sim is not the issue.
As a matter of fact its not even asking for a sim or giving the "missing sim"notification when it's out.

your boot Logs seems okaay refers to the software but the Hardware part of SIM mainly the logical board may leaks or got some electrical hiccups sometimes the OEM get fail in inventing logical board that comes with no IMEI show or even it works but not everytime flash a KDZ and dont root head for your warranty center and they'll change the LOGICAL BOARD you may backup your data before you go

Sorry for this awfully late reply mate ?
I got caught up searching for a decent chinese phone to replace this G2, but no winners there Hehe.
I lost my warrantee already because of a screen replacement. So I scored a G2 with broken screen (plus original charger ?) for a few euros to try to swap the motherboard coming weekend ?
Hey, so me and @schizoidd are working on another thing to test. It is very risky, go here ONLY if you are interested in possibly sacrificing your device for root.
like, very risky. I have an edited .tot file I need to test. I am about 50% sure it will work
I assume this is only for Sprint variants, welp I dunno how I can help then.
THOUGH, @f_scott_scrambled_eggs may be able to help!
His quote:
f_scott_scrambled_eggs said:
I could help with this. I'm running W7 and would probably be using Visual Studio to compile the executable. Also, I have a Sprint G5, and work in a service and repair center, so if things went south, I would be able to order myself a replacement should it get bricked.

Link is ready if you would like to test... please respond in the Skype chat
this is ONLY for the sprint G5 and not any other device. And, yes, the .tot is ready for trial. and the skype link gets ahold of me directly if there's any issue.
Flashing now... will update with results.
UPDATE: Bootlooping.
Code:
Boot verification fail! cause: MISMATCH_SIG_LEN
I'm still able to get into download mode. Only soft bricked it. A stock image flash should fix this for anyone else who's willing to try whenever we get another .tot made to attempt flashing.

No, he did what The did and just wrote TWRP into the TOT. We knew it wouldn't work, but we thought we would just test it anyways to see what would happen.
On the other hand, Schiz edited the TOT before and got it to display userdebug mode on the phone itself, but adb does not recognize it as a userdebug build so we can't use the disable-dm-verity command. Please check out this thread that he started if you have the chance... http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g5/development/sprint-userdebug-t3404260
