I just noticed that I delete gmail emails from my phone and they stay on the server. The gmail app will say i have x amount of emails even if i've deleted them. sure enough, if i go to gmail.com, they are there... i've tried unsyncing from phone settings menu, rebooting, and syncing again. Still get the problem. Any info?
go to labels in gmail app. it will show you inbox is synced for 4 days.
go to settings | labels
then change number of days to sync - or select all days for inbox (probably not good as i have thousands in there).

My emails on my Pop3 account "not outlook" disappear every day or so, is there a setting that deletes emails? I can't seem to find it.
Need a little more info. Are they disappearing on just the phone or in your account period? Are they disappearing because you only have the phone set for that account to download a certain number of days/weeks and they are older than that? Are these emails in the main Inbox or other folders. Please elaborate some more.
They disappear from my Imagio, not from the email server. It downloads new messages every time it does it's send/receive, but once a day the Inbox is emptied out.
I don't use outlook on the phone nor does it receive emails, even thought I see it on the emails list.
Check this:
Go to the mail tab, select Inbox, then Menu -> Tools -> Options (may have to scroll the list for some of these items) then Send/Receive Schedule. For the "Download messages" drop-down option do you have Today's messages in there? That means it will only pull each days messages and drop any that are older. Change this to show you whatever amount you wish such as 3 days, 1 week, 2 weeks, etc. Hope that helps.
Mine is set to "All Messages" in the drop menu...
I had that issue too... it sucked.. I am using gmail and switched to IMAP and it now seems to have fixed.. I also am now using google sync through outlook and it seems to push email quite well..
m.google.com/sync from your computer will give you all the instructions as well.. I was worried about battery usage but today was my first full day using google sync and it doesnt seem to drainm battery too much
So far it looks like the issue resided on my Outlook 2003 deleting emails of the server, I had to change the option to "Leave a copy of messages on the server" checked and the amount of days to do so.
I will post in a few days how many emails stay on my phone.
Here's a thought: what if you set an Outlook rule to move your Inbox mail into a different folder? Just be sure that the new folder is set to sync.
My issue was resolved already, I love this phone...
I just purchased the HTC HD2, fantastic phone! but I've notice that when I receive and email (Gmail) and have read it, it only manages to stick around for a moment before its gone and I have no mail to RE: to?
I've gone into inbox and tried view all-mail but can't seem to view either past or all emails? the only ones that seem to accumulate are unread ones.
Is there a way I can view all mail or past emails...
check your imap/pop3 settings... i download mails with pop3 and automaticly archive them into all mail
Go into account settings and set Gmail account to download all messages, or last 30 days messages (by default 3 days)
Go into account settings and set Gmail account to download all messages, or last 30 days messages (3 days by default)
Thanks Guys, really helped. I changed the settings to POP and figured out how to manage the folders. works a treat!
So I notice I have a new email notification, when I check my email in SenseUI, I hit:
Menu > Delete Message
but about 10 or 15mins later, ill get another email notification, it's the same email I just deleted (or so I thought). I've tried this repeatedly and it will still come back. Ill even click the 'Inbox' and see it's gone, only to find out, it came back. The only way it will delete is if I click 'Inbox' instead of 'Menu' and view my email through WinMo, than click the email and hit 'Menu' > 'Delete'.
This is gotta be a bug, how do I go about fixing this? It's really annoying -_-
"Delete" works for me for Exchange account, doesn't work for gmail.
I'm using Gmail, so make sense, but why on earth would it not work for Gmail? This is frustrating.
this just started to happen to me about an hour ago.
I looked through the settings to try to find the keep a copy on the server option but cannot find that for accounts outside of exchange (windows life / outlook) My yahoo and gmail accounts keep pushing emails.
I recreated both accounts and never saw the option to delete the message from the server as well. I have not had time to really look though.
Any update?
Dont use Menu>delete. Just use the soft leftkey DELETE and it wont come back.
have you tried
emails tab - inbox - menu - tools - options - tap the account you are interested in
click send/recieve schedule - bottom of screen click advanced settings and check teh dropdown 'when deleting messages' is set to delete them off the server.
I had this problem with AOL on my HD2 (shush, now. I like AOL mail, dammit!). I found that opening the mail and then deleting it from the menu got rid of the notification, but the mail, itself, would get pushed back every time I got new mail on the server (although without a notification of it being new). It would only truly be deleted when I did so from my PC. It's no biggie as it no longer tells me I have a new message when I don't, but I guess it could be bothersome for folks that get more e-mail than I do.
Note: I don't have this problem with G-mail at all.
I use and HTC HD2
I use two HotMail accounts, that's why I created them as 'Other' instead of using 'Windows Live'
Then, I installed version 3.9.10.10.5032 of Swype... and it got my data connection and my email accounts messed up... =(
If I go to my Home Screen, and select the Mail tab, all my email accounts appeared at the right side of the window (as usual), but when selecting any of them and try to use the Inbox menu, it was impossible to get to its messages.
So, I went into the Start Menu, selected the E-Mail application, Selected Menu, Options.. and noticed that my GMail email accounts appeared there... but not the ones from HotMail. I deleted the GMail accounts there (they were messed up anyway) ... so this screen was cleaned up.
But going to my Home Screen, and selecting the Mail tab, still showed the Hotmail accounts, which didn't work... I just can't get rid of them... =(
How can I fix that?
I already fixed my data connection and restored my GMail accounts... but I can't still remove the 'broken' hotmail ones...
Any idea?
Thanks..!
I don't like to use the Gmail App, always used the exchange setting which, unfortunately, isn't working anymore. So when I started using the stock HTC mail app for setting up Gmail accounts, which uses IMAP, I had the problem of 3 new labels being created in Gmail! IMAP/Trash, IMAP/Sent & IMAP/Draft. Also syncing didn't work right! Sent mail from my phone went to IMAP/Sent instead of the normal sent. Deleted e-mail went to IMAP/Trash.
Solution?
Simple; go to your desktop Gmail settings, "Labels" tab > then check the "Show in IMAP" for Sent mail, Drafts & Trash. Then remove the unwanted Labels (IMAP/Trash, IMAP/Sent & IMAP/Draft). That's it.
Now Sent mail is synced correctly, moving e-mail is done correct. Deleted e-mails are moved to Trash.
