New (dopod qilin) TouchPro 2 test rom - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM Development

I'm sure that most of you already noticed this:
http://www.mobileunderground.info/showthread.php?t=94&p=29456#post29456
Mirror: http://www.4shared.com/file/239052870/c2bf4a22/RUU_signed.html
What I'm wondering about is what can be used for the HD2. I mean I am looking here at a 2.6 Manila version and I'm really tempted to hit build, but than again... I don't like to waste my time
Furthermore, what about those other packages. The new qilin phone-canvas, can that be used on the LEO? Or what about CyberonVoiceSpeedDial_1_2_b090908_Qilin_01. Or what about those CHS (chinese I guess?) packages like music_walkman (a walkman, definitely want that on my phone )...
Is it worth trying or do you more experienced users say, forget it it's to device specific and you can never combine that with other LEO specific packages.
Opinions please?

We have seen a few ROMs also with Topaz manila's etc, so I think it's worth to try to get manila to run on the HD2, the rest is just trial and error I guess.
The main thing with cooking is, trying, trying, trying.

Qilin got different cpu omap if i dont mistake, so is not possible to run manila 2.6 on our device.
Qilin isn't pro2 but another device.

If manila was cpu dependant, how the hell am I running a TP2 manila on my HD2.
Manila IS IN NO WAY DEPENDANT on the cpu of the device (apart from manila versions from newer devices will be slow on slower processors)

let me know if you have manila 2.6 running on qualcomm processor

qilin is based on POWERVR chipset..
the Qilin manila calls specific parts of that chipset, so unless you have some intermediate layer or edit the lua I can't see it working very well..
the qilin isn't as full featured so far as the leo manila lacking audio player built in (it has "walkman" package).

Some findings: the calendar tab is working well, not sure if there are some graphical glitches, but it definity runs fine. It shows an elegant animation when one is switching views (to test it just overwrite the current calendar package with the new one. Sure, I am forgettin something here, doesn't bother, it runs. Tweaking is something for later)
The CyberVoiceSpeedDial is running flawlessly!
The programtab: Haven't added it yet. I'm very curious If somebody has that tab running.

It's strange I have the new internet tab running (nothing new of course), and it runs very well but the graphics are all messed up (or better: there are some graphical elements missing). I just copied the package over the existing package but clearly there is some reference to some graphic files that are part of set of files that don't belong to this package.
I know hardly anything about manila, but where should one look for those "missing" files? Is there a shared library? (btw functional-wise the new tabs are running fine, only some graphical problems)

No problem, mirror added in first post.

Ok, here is a problem.
I browsed through the mode9 manila calendar files and I see references to images in the form of \Assets\Images\Calendar\xxxx.pvr
now I searched for what the heck a pvr file is and I found this:
2.6 was first developed on the HTC Qilin, this device is OMAP3, This was back in june, so 2.6 is nothing new. and the device is using Power Vector Textiles(PVR) for the GFX, and since qualcomm chipsets do not recgonize PVR GFX, 2.6 manila will not work. Qulacomm chipsets use QTC GFX, and not PVR.
Click to collapse
And when I browse through cookiemonsters filelist of Manila 2.5 I see indeed references to qtc files instead of pvr files
That is definitely not looking good
Anyone a idea of how to go on with this?
Basically, when I look at the callendar tab. All is functioning well. Only thing what's wrong are the graphics. They are simply missing... In the mode9 files I see references like for example ".\Assets\Images\Calendar\button_down.prv" and a reference to a non-existing manila file.
Because the callendar tab hasn't that much graphics, i wonder is there a way to port this? Suggestions? (Again, the animations are really worthwhile to do such a port)

Opera Mobile 9.5 build 781!! Diamond

Found it in ppcgeeks

holy shiznit .....thanx for the heads up!!!
SWEET!!
Thenx; will try
Release Notes
Opera 9.5 - Build 781 - Release Notes
-------------------------------------
This build has been taken from a HTC Diamond ROM.
As with the build 405 release, we have made some adjustments:
- Able to uninstall
- WM5 version
- QVGA version
Note on this build: works great; scrolling seems smoother; always installs to \Windows\Opera9.
Note on the WM5 version: we performed the same trick as for the 405 build, but this build has NOT been tested on an actual WM5 device.
Note on the QVGA version: the skin used in the 405 PROPER build (thanks to whoever made that skin) could not be used, as there are a bunch of new icons in this build. We had to create a new QVGA skin, and though it mostly works fine, it could still be improved upon. We also adjusted the scrolling/zoom settings as was done in the 405 PROPER, as that works a lot better than the default settings from the VGA version.
- Have fun!
I thought I'd copy and paste the release notes here, instead of people searching. Hope this helps. It'll be good to post the opera's latest version here as well.

Well, you can choose to install to card, but for me it didn't work, all necessary files go to \windows\opera9 as mentioned in the release notes. Can anybody "fix" this? Would be really great!

Possibly. It depends on Opera internals... does it always look for files in \Windows ? May be possible, but impossible to say unless somebody tries to modify it and it works (or not).
I need device space because on my Touch I haven't so much....
Can this Opera build play .flv videos like youtube's ones?

You r right...I've gone back to my older version (Build 405) because it is not a cab but just Files in a zip-file so I can put almost everything to my SD-Card...but I think some things where modified to make it work like this. When I have time I will look into the cab and try to make a copy-only version by using the older release...
1. Can someone mirror it here? Don't have a ppcgeeks account so can't download.
2. What is the difference between QVGA and QVGA_wm5 version? It's hard to figure that out from their release notes.
Again, thanks for the heads up!

For some odd reason, I can't use it. It installs, but it won't load and stays stuck. I have to reboot it. But I can attest to the fact that it uninstalls. I have opera mini, but can't test it to know whether or not it's better than opera mini, (Netfront and Opera Mini are my favorite browsers.)
I just installed it and there is a big difference between this and the old build: Even on the logo during the startup it forced all the background applications to close. This means, is takes much more RAM then the old build.
I hope, this stays still usable on my device.
edit: Maybe it was the default homepage or the first startup, but now it seems to be more memoryfriendly.
Bookmarks (opera6.adr) from application data\opera9 copied over to windows\opera9 works well.
And it seems, that the size of the bookmarks is still VGA. Looks much bigger, than in the last build

Thats why it does not work on non htc devices either

Actually, it doesn't hang the device, it just makes it ungodly slow. It actually takes close to 1 hour for the device to get past bootloader (yes, I waited that long )
But after that, it just gets stuck in the "Tap Here to Start TF3D" and "Launching TF3D"
It looks like M2D all over again, which tells me that there might be a similar set of issues with this port as there were with M2D. In other words, the reason for this thing not starting up is probably the same as for M2D... just a thought though

Doh, I just tried to install m2d from the main development thread (v20). Took a while to install and when I did a reset it just stayed at the 4 color bars screen. I assumed it was dead and did a hard-reset. Didn't think to let it sit that way for an hour! lol
Going to try and install this xPlode version now.
I'm a little confused as to the versions though. Are we only supposed to install the xPlode version, or will we be able to install updates from the main m2d dev thread?

That's because that version is not yet ready for non-htc or older devices like blueangel. Hopefully they will get that to work. But i prefer xplodes version for our kind of device cause that's the perfect installation made yet for all devices.

Touch Flo v.3.0 available on HD?

Simple question.
I've read about the new features of the 3rd version of Touch Flo (on the upcoming HTC Touch Pro 2 and Diamond 2) and they are quite interesting.
I just wondered whether by any chance this new version could be installed on the HTC HD (once it's out of course)

There is no "cab" install and there never will be.
This isn't just an application you install on your phone - it's a complete system overhaul, with new TF3D, with all new and / or updated system applications: phone, calendar, contacts, call history, calculator, browser etc.
Let me illustrate however the difference between the stock ROM and the custom cooked ROM's available here on XDA. It's like going from Skoda to latest Ferrari.
That means you'll get a lot of great looking stuff, many cool applications already included, everything will be as new as possible, you'll be running at MUCH faster speed, but you also have to accept that you'll "burn more gas" - battery life may take a small impact.
Is it worth it? Well, it's like you bought a new device, so - yes.

If you flash a ROM that already includes the new manila it will probably be alot smoother because the ROM will be optimized and tweaked for it! If you install it over the old Manila it probably won't give you the best experience... Also, the newer ROMs not only include the new Manila, but also things like finger-friendly menus!
really is that true???

I'm pretty new to all this as well and had a lot of difficulty figuring it out! What I think happens is this: The ROM is a bit like the BIOS so you can't modify it within WM6.1. Also, the original ROMs are protected so you can't replace them with an unofficial version (they are signed).
To get around this, you can use something like Hard SPL (which overwrites the existing ROM) or USPL (which works around it).
I finally went with USPL2.5 and Dutty's extreme ROM v2.6.
Incidentally, I'm not really noticing much of a speed improvement... Especially with the music player which now takes a second to load up... Am I meant to?

Manila v2.5 Running on a HTC Touch HD

When the Diamond2 and Touch Pro2 get the Windows Mobile 6.5 upgrade later this summer, it looks like they are getting a new version of TouchFLO 3D (Manila v2.5) that stretches the interface a bit deeper and makes it more customizable than seen on the current iteration. If not on the Diamond2 and Touch Pro2, we'll likely see Manila v2.5 on the upcoming Firestone.

For the Home tab, HTC has put forth efforts to bring frequently used tasks to the surface; in this case, the user can place three shortcut buttons that presumably go to a program, contact, or system command. Also, the calendar is still on the Home tab, though we wonder if that section will auto-collapse or simply act as a link.

It seems that HTC Footprints, first launched on the 2009 version of the Touch Cruise, will make its way to all newer versions of TouchFLO 3D. Footprints lets you associate geographical coordinates with a photo.

Settings are going to go much deeper. Currently in TouchFLO 3D, there are only a handful of system settings that are skinned by HTC. Now, it looks like most things, down to Program and Storage, Regional, and even Text Input setting are skinned.

The next build of Manilla, TouchFlo3D 2.5, has been leaked, and this video shows it running on a HTC Touch HD. It continuous the replacement of the normal Windows Mobile UI, and it seems all parts of calendar and settings are now subsumed in the software.

i use new manila in the "Energy Rom" it's nice and very userfriendly however there are a lot of bugs as the sms (doesn't work), the weather and the clock (you can't add new city) and something else.. for the speed i used "drive pack beta 2" and it goes quickly as the old manila.
i hope someone fix bug as soon as possible.. it looks great!!

Excelent
Tried the ROM with TF3D v2.5 today...
Great layout and adition of a few new things but as everyone else has already stated it's very VERY buggy! Shame...
Can't wait till it's out and stable, although I am more looking forward to the new Sence UI

manila 2.5 cab file? we'd all like it to be that easy, lol. but...you can forget about that. it's a ROM flash only... (for now).
I'm looking at the registry values for the new Footprints function on my HD. Seems Manila 2.5 was written for a device with a 3M pixel cam, opposed to the HD's 5M. I've set the value for a 5M function, but that didn't fix anything. I've alos checked FootCam.exe with Dependancy Walker which tells me alot of files are still missing.
If i find the time, i'll post a list of missing files / dependancies.

Personally I would like to see the 1700 radio, 1600 was far too flakey in calls for me.
Also as much as I like the sound of your rom, is it possible to have all the original rom art/icons etc? I prefer those and also we have the ability to chose prefered sets by cab ourselves, thanks.
Uber Cool
74 MB free RAM WoW...Cant wait..x_X
I would like to see the 1700 radio, too.

normally yes, but this ROM, with a sense 2012 is almost perfect and without buggs. i have make a lot of modifications and improvements will have to transfer them to 2016 is very complicated and a risk of a new buggs.
.... And if you drive 250 kmh speed, then is 300 kmh so nothing special more
will do in the near future even a 2016 ROM.
if by then no one new with 2% more speed coming out
Mirolg.
Maybe U cook WP7 on TG01?

I do wish people would stop requesting that, it doesn't appear to be on any other phone either and from what I've seen of it is a closed crappy iPhone rip off

I see that this is based on Novembre5's rom - many UK users seem to the like 5001.0300.76 radio.
Is this ready for download in English yet - would love to try it.
I am going to thw Windows Phone User Group meeting this week - suggest that until WP7 is properly reviewed it is not prejudged!

Having read about its closed enviroment (next to current windows phones) and the fact I have used it to an extent via the emulator, I can say pretty strongly that my next phone will end up being Android based (unless it makes a stable appearence on the TG01).
Back on topic though, if this rom is pretty much the same as the FFBoy 6.5.5 rom I am currently running but with the CHT and 74meg free I should be happy for some time

Thank you for jumping to an English ROM! I'll update mi ROM's table this night
It looks very interesting. I wanna check it, but I like a lot SPB Mobile Shell.... can you or anyone tell me some good reasons to move to Sense instead? I love specially the 3 (or 5) Professional and Live views full of icons (one hundred approx,) , from there I can launch apps easily. Can I do the same on Sense?
Thank You

Sense has a program launcher and with cookies home tab this is vastly expanded to allow multiple pages for it etc.

... you, and others have insisted, emphatically!
I don´t know, looks beautiful. but is not so clear. Currently in my ROM Co0kiHomeTab is 1.8.5. Switches and similar administrative appointment as SPB.
I like SPB Mobile Shell too. SPB Mobile Shell + MobileSenseTheme is actually the best kombi. especially the invisible buttons. I think my next ROM will be SPB Mobile Shell + MobileSenseTheme.
