Simple question.
I've read about the new features of the 3rd version of Touch Flo (on the upcoming HTC Touch Pro 2 and Diamond 2) and they are quite interesting.
I just wondered whether by any chance this new version could be installed on the HTC HD (once it's out of course)
Thx
there are already tons of custom roms with this new tf3d
Oh! I wasn't aware of that... have an example so I can test it?

Think the list is endless. Go to ROM's development forum and seach. I'm currently using Duttys 2.5 Xtreme, though Laurentius & Davideuck are just as commonly used

well... i always do my home work before posting, that is why i did ask question...i could not find any cab, and believe me i spent hours looking throughout our gigantic forum...
if u know location where such cab is hiding from my eyes please share it with us.
There is no "cab" install and there never will be.
This isn't just an application you install on your phone - it's a complete system overhaul, with new TF3D, with all new and / or updated system applications: phone, calendar, contacts, call history, calculator, browser etc.
Let me illustrate however the difference between the stock ROM and the custom cooked ROM's available here on XDA. It's like going from Skoda to latest Ferrari.
That means you'll get a lot of great looking stuff, many cool applications already included, everything will be as new as possible, you'll be running at MUCH faster speed, but you also have to accept that you'll "burn more gas" - battery life may take a small impact.
Is it worth it? Well, it's like you bought a new device, so - yes.

If you flash a ROM that already includes the new manila it will probably be alot smoother because the ROM will be optimized and tweaked for it! If you install it over the old Manila it probably won't give you the best experience... Also, the newer ROMs not only include the new Manila, but also things like finger-friendly menus!
really is that true???

I'm pretty new to all this as well and had a lot of difficulty figuring it out! What I think happens is this: The ROM is a bit like the BIOS so you can't modify it within WM6.1. Also, the original ROMs are protected so you can't replace them with an unofficial version (they are signed).
To get around this, you can use something like Hard SPL (which overwrites the existing ROM) or USPL (which works around it).
I finally went with USPL2.5 and Dutty's extreme ROM v2.6.
Incidentally, I'm not really noticing much of a speed improvement... Especially with the music player which now takes a second to load up... Am I meant to?

Hi,
I am a newbie here @ XDA and after a lot of work and learning I managed to build my first rom. I was looking for a dutch rom with manila after I tried itje's m2d rom. But there was not one there, so I made one myself. Everthing is translated inside this rom to dutch (as far as I know). I hope someone will use this and leave a message.
This is how I cooked my rom:
- I have used a shipped Windows Mobile 6.1. rom
and added (and translated):
- Manila2d (black theme)
- Manila Configurator
- 3D drivers
- Youtube
- Googlemaps
- Album
- Opal Volume Control
- Audio Manager
- Task Manager
- Opera 9.5
removed nothing (can make a lite one if people want that)
I used the orginal dailer because I use videodailer very often and it's working.
I used the orginal camera because it have auto-focus function.
I want to say thanks to UDK for his briljant kitchen.
I also want thank the Polaris 3D Development theme for their great 3d drivers.
And I wanna say special thanks to NeoS2007 for his quick reply's and great help to my stupid questions.
I did put a lot of work in this rom. It is running fast and stable, I didn't found bugs for now so please report found bugs.
Known bugs:
- analog and digital clock are "on" by default, can be changed by manila2dcustomizer
- video from album not working
- status bar is not showing correct
I don't know how to make screenshots, so if somebody can please make them for me I will be very happy, because I really to tired right now.
Here is the downloadlink http://rapidshare.com/files/153976144/FLAXJEFv1.0_DUTCH_6.1.rar.html
Have fun with it, please let me know if you are using this rom.

I think you can flash your dailer, but I am not sure about the camera.
I thought when you install camera you will get erorrs.
hmm crap
maybe one rom with old camera and one with the new.
And in both provide the 3g dialer.
After that you could still flash the new dialer right?
And also go back to the 3g dialer
maybe i'm gonna cook my own rom, but how did you translate those programs and maybe you could provide the translated packages?

Ok I can do that but, I will start in a couple of days, I wil put it a different post, Í'll let know where to find it
Hello to all,
I took the plunge today and despite being very very tempted at getting myself an iphone 3g I decided to get myself a Touch HD. Been spending a few days reading about the Touch HD and it sounds great. Must say I love the look and feel of it, although it's a little on the wide side for my hand.
This is my first WinMo ever and I'm very lost at what to do. I like to tweak and around a mess with my windows installation on my pc, but I just don't know where to start with the Touch HD.
It may sound kind of stupid, but I decided that what's probably best for me is to start this thread (of course after having done a search to see that no other similar thread already exist) and to ask you guys to share some of the things that you first did to your Touch HD when you got it. ie. What are the first few things to do to improve/enhance the experience with the phone.
Thank you all in advance and looking forward to your replies.
PS. English isn't my first language so I apologize if I'm being unclear or if I'm being repetitive.
Grats on the purchase. Where did you buy it from?
That's some fine English for it not being your first language.
Hi, I'm in the same boat as you, although I've had my HD for a few days now. I'm just getting to grips with it, and am now at the point where I feel like I should play around with ROMs. Haven't a clue where to start though, but have had a good read of the wiki.
Good luck with it, and enjoy it.
Welcome to HD world !

As a long-term PocketBreeze user (I assume you know about Today Plugins?) I found the restriction of TF3D to be irritating. If you don't know, TF3D will not allow any other today plugins to run.
But, SecondToday is great - this gives you a second today screen on which you can run any number of plugins.
Also, for me a big help, is AEB+ for mapping buttons.
I also have lots of tweaks to the TF3D setup - see the app list in the thread above.
Good luck and enjoy !

Got my Touch HD ~a week ago, my second Win Mo device.
First I would recommend installing a different rom, I went with Duttys 1.7 rom, my HD got a nice performance boost, the Wiki here explains how to do this.
After that I configured all the settings to my liking.
Installed all HTC Fixes.
Then I browsed the Themes and software forum for the blackstone, after awhile I have these installed on my HD:
- HD Tweak (a must have with the HD imo, customize the HD even further and access lots of other tweaks)
- Advanced Configuration Tool 3.2 (pretty much the same as above^)
- Diamond D3D driver (speed up the graphics for the HD)
- Diamond Saber (fun wnb-a-jedi lightsaber software)
- FInixNOverBatteryIcon (Replace the original battery icon with a color changing one and showing the load %)
- Gyrator 2 (rotate the screen when you rotate your HD)
- IPC Black Dialer (black phone application theme)
- IPC black Calculator (black calc theme)
- MyLostBlog MyStopWatch (great stopwatch software)
- Navigon 7 (GPS navigation)
- Tnyynt SD TuneUP (make the HD faster, can't remember how though )
- TouchResponse (vibrates the HD everytime you touch the screen, very useful)
- Weather Database Editor (add your own city to the weather tab)
+ some theme customization and such
Noticed also some great apps in other posts here, thanks for the tips
Wow this forum is certainly very active and helpful.
Thank you guys so much, I'm going to start working on my HD later tonight after I finish work (yeah it's a Sunday and I still have to work )
@ModernMuseum I'm from Lao PDR and I bought it here in Laos, though from the looks of it I think the phone is actually from Italy or something since the user manual is in Italian (or so it seems) and no English manual at all.
PS. any further comments/suggestions/sharing of experience are still welcome

Please can you give me the link for wiki on how to install duttys 1.7 rom? Will I lose everything that's installed on my HTC HD if I install a new rom?
Also, do you only ever install 1 rom at a time, or can you have more than one? Sorry if that's a really stupid question...
Thank you.

Yes you will lose all your data, only 1 rom can be installed at a time.

Check out the list of ROMs available if you want something other than Dutty's ROM . There are many to choose from. Also before you do any modifications, install HSPL or USPL if you want to do any ROM flashing, since you can flash as many times as you want, but not have more than one ROM on.
Sorry for another noob question, but i own a blackstone for 2 weeks now and
i'm trying to realize why there are so many different ROMs out there.
* i'm not asking a "which rom question", just trying to learn more.
So.. i have a new blackstone with WM6.1 and TF3d. why do i need to install
a ROM anyway? i know i don't have to, but i see many people talking about it
and i feel that i'm missing something.
I would say... if you are happy with your ROM, there's no reason to change. In general, the usual reasons are:
- Your ROM is branded (Orange, T-Mobile...) and you don't need the 'extras' that your carrier has included in default ROM.
- You want to make some 'tuning' or your device and someone has cooked a ROM which includes all the patches, tricks and regisitry changes that will make your device better
- There are new versions of TF3D, camera program, or any other default program and HTC does not offer these updates to you, are only included in a new device; however you will always find a cooked ROM where these updates are included.
- Customization: Some cooked ROMs include nice TF3D customization, wallpapers, and a set of finger-friendly applications pre-installed. If you are bored with default settings and you don't like to spend much time downloading & trying things, a new ROM could be an option.
I'm still using the ROM that came with my unit.
My personal reason to flash a new (custom) rom, is to get more out of the HD then HTC give me originally. I just knew it had more potential (and I was right ). Plus, I like to play around with PC's, gadgets etc.
What's all this about newer radio versions?
Why do people rebuild old cars? why add 4-barrel carb and headers ect. Many reasons many cooked roms preform better than stock. other include apps in the rom not included by your vender. Others flash just to tinker, its fun to try the newest latest. Mosttly its to customize what you have and make it diffrent from the 100,000 other HDs
I would be very cautious about flashing your device with unofficial ROMs. While making a few improvements they carry a potentially large number of glitches. So if you're an adventurous type, go for it. Otherwise stick to the official ROM.

Link to new radio's thread here and flashing radio's in wiki here
The radio provides improvements on the GSM radio stack and this has effect on the GSM signal, AT command interface, GSM data modem (3G, GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA, etc...) functionality that is controlled by the Radio Interface Layer (RIL). The radio stack has nothing to do with WiFi or bluetooth -- it is only for the GSM/WCDMA(3G) part of the device.
Newer radio's our released which may improve GSM signal, although certain radio's work better for different countries/areas.
Ok now i get it.
I have the original ROM that came with my device and after i've found out why
people change their ROMs i think it doesn't really worth it.
The only thing i've found useful is changing my radio version, which works really
good. so now i have radio v1.12 installed.
Of course i like to tweak my device and configure it to my own needs, but for
this reason i've installed many apps without flashing a cooked ROM.

There are numerous different themes and applications you can use to change your phones appearance. They can all be found in the applications forum located here. Do a general search for what you are looking for i.e. themes or calendar and see what threads aleady exist before creating any new ones. Good morning all,
I did a search on "widgets" and could not come up with what I was looking for so...
I was reading (and watching video) on "pocketnow.com." They showed that you could "long tap" an empty spot on the home page which would allow you to peruse, choose from, and download new icons/widgets for your HD2. They had some spiffy ones on there for mail and other.
Tried it and it did not work. Read into the comments section and they note that it is an andriod phone and may not work on a Tmo-WM-HD2.
Is there a way to get some nice new widgets for preinstalled programs (or other) without flashing the ROM or installing a new CAB?
I assumed there might be just like I can choose an icon on my Windows desktop.
Thanks in advance.
you could just install android or mobile shells.
yeah, like ddgarcia is saying, WM doesn't really have widgets, unless you use CHT/CHTE (which only has a very few available). Based on what you said, I would imagine that the video you were looking at was an android build with sense on it (so it looks rather similar to a WM build with sense).
Android and SPB Mobile Shell (a WM-based replacement for sense) are pretty much the only way to get widgets on to your home screen.
Mate, are you sure you were not looking at Co0kie's Home Tab 1.85?
I appreciate all the responses.
You are indeed correct, it was an android HD2.
I should have noted that.
I was hoping that perhaps so of the same functionality was possible with my TMO-HD2 (WM 6.5).
I have thought about installing Cookie's Tabs, but frankly I dig my stock HD2. I have been having some latency troubles lately, but I think there may be some "gun" in the system that my cleaner is not getting rid of (tmp files, etc.).
I need to clean her out and tune her up!
Thanks all.

CHT 1.8 is awesome dude. The quicklinks you get make your phone twice as cool. It's like having an Android WM hybrid. Obviously there are a lot more apps out there for Android but functionality wise CHT makes this phone better...

Have you thought of trying a maxsense rom? energy maxsense might be whatyou are looking for. There is widgets in maxsense. It is basically a complete rebuild of htc sense.
Dear developers,
I would kindly ask if someone can create a very simple rom for me. I tried a lot of roms and most of them were great, fast and stable, but my problem is that I do not use a lot of the applications installed. For example, I do not use twitter, or TCMP or Wifi monster etc, I prefer the simple windows file explorer than total commander etc.
I would like a rom, close to stock version, that will be fast and stable and will have only the minimum required applications. I like sense but I don’t need cookie’s home application, I can install it myself if I get bored of the standard sense. The main use of the device, is as a phone, music player, camera, video (I use the paid version of Core Media player) and office use.
I tried Carnage HD2 lite beta, but it lacks of sense and the start menu and x button on the bottom of the screen…
To sum up, please, can someone create a very simple and lite rom (6.5.5 based), with no extra applications, no extra visual additions, only the minimum required applications (the less the better) and that it can be fast and stable?
Kind regards,
Jardan

To sum up, please, can someone create a very simple and lite rom (6.5.5 based), with no extra applications, no extra visual additions, only the minimum required applications (the less the better) and that it can be fast and stable?
Kind regards,
Jardan

Dear developers,
I would kindly ask if someone can create a very simple rom for me. I tried a lot of roms and most of them were great, fast and stable, but my problem is that I do not use a lot of the applications installed. For example, I do not use twitter, or TCMP or Wifi monster etc, I prefer the simple windows file explorer than total commander etc.
I would like a rom, close to stock version, that will be fast and stable and will have only the minimum required applications. I like sense but I don’t need cookie’s home application, I can install it myself if I get bored of the standard sense. You just described my own personal ROM...
WM23142, with stock Sense...
thank you for you replies, I will try the above mentioned roms, the Energy reference is waiting for me at home (I am at work now). I think duttys rom has more applications, at least I cannot find in the thread the list of the included apps, but I will try it just for the shake of it..
@kristofpetho, which one is your rom?
thanks
Or try Artemis
Good luck

Hey kristofpetho
Good to see you on the HD2 side!
When you say "personal ROM" does that mean I can have it?

I tried Artemis, too many things inside. The goal is to have as less application as possible.

Yes, can you share it?
If you want his roms you can just search all threads started by him perhaps...

Yeah I turned...
The HD2 is such a nice device...
And I will publish it, when I have fine-tuned it to my taste... But the overall feel will be like that of my Topaz Avatar ROM...
@all: Try ljankok's Cheetah Pro HERE. Its superb!

Did you? Because if you had done it you would have seen that there are no HD2 roms by him. I do my research before I start asking questions.

Try this, they are the fastest ROMs. At least I think so. You'll get about 280MB of free storage.
Use HSPL 2.08 and Radio 2.15
