No 'turn phone on option' - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

when I tap my network icon(has an X on it at the moment), I don't get the option to turn the phone on... All thats written is 'the phone is off' and a link to the wireless manager... In wireless manager also tapping the phone icon doesnt do anything...
Flight mode is switched off btw...
I really need help guys, this is the fourth time I'm asking a question regarding this issue....
Thanks...

Stupid Questions: 1. how do you turn the xdaII off?

This is my first pda so please forgive the stupid questions...
1. I am at a loss as to how i can switch off the xdaII completely. I can dim the screen, and switch off the screen, but not the entire xdaII. The bluetooth light and the green light flash continuously, unless i remove the battery catch down.
2. is there a way of getting a better battery indicator at the top, without having to go through the settings menu all the time. I can't seem to create shortcust of any kind.
3. ultra profiler... is it just me... i switch it to silent and it makes no difference.
Thanks...
Why would you want to turn it all the way off? This results in what is known as a "cold boot" - everythng in RAM (even the current date & time) is erased and the phone goes back to the way you bought it.
I don't know how to do it on the XDAII. On the XDA you press a piece of the stylus into a little hole on the bottom.
Fais, on the XDA 1, to switch off both phone and pda, first either hold down the red handset button for a while or tap the signal meter top right of screen and switch off radio/phone, then hit the power button once for a very short time. This will switch off phone and pda. I cant comment on xda2, dont you have a user guide?

Well, you must turn off the PDA part and the telephone part separately. For the PDA part, there's a hardware button (which I guess you knew already... ). To turn off the phone part, tap on the antenna indicator and select the first "link" in the bubble that appears. On an MDA I, the phone could also be turned off by holding the red "hang-up" hardware button for a few seconds. This does not work with the MDA II. It's not clear if this is a bug that will be corrected through a software update or if it's a feature.
Note that all that does not really turn your MDA II completely off. But you don't want that anyway, because you'd lose all your data and installed programs, as they are in RAM only.
There are many programs that can display battery and/or storage indicators on your "today" screen. Try searching for "battery" at Handango. The only program I found so far that indicates the battery status directly in the navigation bar is SmallMenu (http://tillanosoft.com/ce/smenu.html)
Cheers

1. Tap on the network indicator, on the right middle part of the Navigation Bar (at the top of the screen), then click on "Turn Wireless Off". Then click on the Bluetooth connection on the right side of the command bar (bottom bar), and select OFF. All your flashing lights will go off.
2. Download "BatMemTime" (find it on Google). It is a free today plug-in
3. I don't use ultra profiler. You may try "My Phone Profile" by JGUI, I think it has more features.

Thanks everyone for the replies and links to batt indicators... that was a big help!! i've been so used to the p800 that all this is so new to me... The manual doesn't make it clear for a non-pda user about switching the xdaII off.... not to me anyway.
Tekflow thanks... i can switch off the bt quickly and switch on just as easily now... and more important sleep without having to cover the phone with by jacket at night

Back to home-screen when turning on the screen!

ive been very happy with my Touch Dual, but there is one thing that bugs me loads! If im running a program, and i turn of the screen (press the power button), when i turn it back on, im taken back to the home screen. This is really annoying! I was testing pointUi, which proved pointless, as whenever I turned on the screen again, i was taken back to the standard HTC Home Screen.
Is there a setting or something for this ive missed?
Cheers!
sorry i dont really know much but you can just go on to the running programs list and open it quite quickly
i assume you just wanted it for coming straight on to the program but im not sure
in settings->today->items
there is a checkbox named
Today timeout with a dropdownbox which set
the timeout time
you could try to uncheck the checkbox and see
if it still does it
another thing that results in the same effect:
the device lock unter settings.
if its activated (doesn't matter what time is set), waking up the device brings yout to home.

i kind of have the same problem. but this brings me to another question. what does that checkbox do? minimum one hour timeout?!
anyway. i am using a kaiser, and when the device goes out of "standby" (pressing the powerbutton) im brought back to the today-screen.
but as of the previos post. this does not happen when the device locks after 5 minutes and i type in my simple pin. if the device locks i am brought back where i left it... (i.e. gsplayer)
well one would asume that unchecking the checkbox would disable the return to today screen
and the dropdownbox beside it's content would only be enabled if the checkbox was checked

network lost (but not really)

Hi,
since a couple of days I'm facing the following strange bug:
- I start a call, get connection, screen goes out: all okay for now
- I end the call, I loose network connection (an "x" is next to the antenna symbol)
- I can perfectly start a new call or receive one!!
- As sms can't get through (outgoing) because "no radio connected"
- the phone dialer screen says "phone off"
- when I check the Connection Manager it says "airplane mode"
- switching of the "airplane mode" is not possible
- when I press the power button (into sleep mode), and press it again (even immediately), unlock my S2U2, everything is back to normal. Very briefly I see (on the S2U2 screen) a switch from: network name => no service => network name. I don't even need to enter my PIN.
Side note: when I end the call before it gets connected (AND the connection vibrate), nothing happens...
I first encoutered this behaviour after installing SmartLock 1.7E (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505032).
I removed it shortly after. Searched the registry, but couldn't find anything.
Problem of course remains.
Anyone has a solution, hints, things to try...?
Thanks for reading!

try this.. uninstall everything new. clear all cache. Soft reset. See if it returns to normal. If unsuccessful.. try hard reset.

Whenever I switch from LTE/3G to wifi the Hands Free starts by itself. At first I thought I was touching the home button every time I came home and left the car, was "driving" me crazy... But finally figured it was when I changed to my home wifi that it started automatically.

Dasdman, so how do you fix this issue ?
Everytime when i return home and the phone automatically change to home wifi, the hands-free mode turn on automatically
But I want to use my home wifi when i am at home, or my office wifi when i am at office
but i DO NOT want the hands-free mode turn on.
Is there any solution to solve this??? Is this a FLAW ?? a BUG ??
I have not seen a solution or any widespread problem reported. I have confirmed it auto starts when switching from 3G/LTE/4G to WIFI.

Hands-free mode bug
I have the same issue. I bet they call it a feature but it is a bug. I do not need hands-free mode while I am connected to my home wifi. Why would anyone want to have that mode turned on automatically again, after I turned it off?
This is a bug - looking for a solution!
Problem Solved
I found a solution to the problem - at least it worked for me.
Go to location services under settings, chose my places, chose car, select method - none, save.
Now the hands-free mode does not turn on automatically.
Hope this works.

Was having the same issue on my Tmobile N3.
This Works. I remember at one point adding these settings in. Would have never thought that it would do all that. Either way thank you! :good:

You, my friend, are some kind of genius! This thing has been bugging me for weeks! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart!
Sent from my GT-I9500 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I hope this helps someone...
I found this thread via a search for my issue, which is that I have an S4 (SCH-I545) running MK2 and Hyperdrive and when I put it in the iBolt xPro car dock, 2 instances of HANDSFREE show in the notification panel. A screenshot of the screen when docked.
Itried the actions described in this thread, buit those boxes were already unchecked.
I found on another thread that disabling the S Voice app would help.
Well, turning off the S Voice app did get rid of one, of the two instances of HANDSFREE, in the notification panel, when docked.
Now to figure out how to remove the other....
I have the same exact problem and it's very annoying as it read out messages and answers phone calls sometimes too when it hears people talking in the background
Really stupid I'm thinking to switch to iOS

Try going to Settings -> Display and see if "Keep screen turned off" is enabled. If it isn't then enable it and see if your problem persists.
