Hi!
I've experienced this problem on a variety of Manila ROMs (Rafyvitto, Arto, UFE).
(I don't know if it's an issue with non-Manila ROMs as I haven't tried them)
(Since it's not related to a specific ROM, I'm posting here than in the particular ROM threads)
When I press the call button, it almost always starts redialling the last number.
What I would like it to do (and what I think should be the default) is to go the phone screen (same as pressing phone softbutton on Manila Home) - and give you an option to dial a number...
Does anyone else have this trigger happy call button?
Any suggestion for fixes?
Thanks
/Sifaan
it's a known problem with the htc phone canvas in our device.
You can use ae button plus and assign the call button to take you to the phone screen. It works fine like that

Seems like I was a bit hasty here... it works fine with the keyboard, but the remapping also affects my bluetooth headset - with this setting, I can't answer a call by pressing the button on my bluetooth headset (because it is interpreted to run phone app rather than answer the call).
I mainly use bluetooth headset when driving, so it kind of defeats the point if I have to pick up the phone to answer the call...
any ideas... please....??

This is the deal.
I'd like to be able to remote control the music player in TFLO 3D. That means, 1 click=Play/Pause, 2 clicks=Next track, 3 clicks=Previous track.
The reason is as much as I like my HTC I don't want to take it out of its pouch, fiddle around with power button and flick the screen...
I've tried HButton and AEButton Plus (the latter works partially). I've managed to map the Volume up button for 1 click=volume up, Long hold=previous track. The opposite for volume button down. These buttons don't get locked in case I put the phone in standby and have the headphones connected. Works even with S2U2 if setup properly.
BUT this doesn't solve the problem. I have a perfect Hardbutton on the mic.
Now, The green button or call button is said to work just like the mic button. But that is not true. If I reprogram greenbutton with AEButton I still only get one option - HOLD mic = Voice dialer. Disable voice dialer and I have nothing. The hardbutton exists - but can not be programmed. And it is not the green button.
Anyone out there - come on... XDA forum unite. I can't be the only person annoyed with this lacking feature that existed on my Sony Walkman Casette player!!
How about using this? I have not tried it myself though.

Unfortunately, since the HTC Touch HD has been equipped with a 3.5 mm stereoplug the mini-USB connector is useless for anything than charging the phone... if you try to insert a USB headset - it tells you to use the steroeplug...
hello xda community
i'm very new to the blackstone and this is my first post here. so please bear with me if i'm asking very basic questions here.
my problem:
i carry my blackstone in my pocket all the time. and many people told me throughout the last days that they called me and that i picked up the call by accident.
since i work at customer sites mostly my phone is muted. so people call me and somehow i pickup the calls while the phone is in my pocket.
i always turn of the screen and i have the automatic lock (password protection) enabled. still when the incoming call screen comes up it looks like it is possible that calls are being picked up.
i know there is the slide which has to be moved to the left in order to pickup calls.
i have tried myself by calling my from my home phone and touching the screen and the buttons at random. and indeed the calls are being picked up. i was not able to find out how this is happening ... but it does.
so is there any setting i can change or any additional piece of software i can install to make sure calls are only answered when i want?
possible a reg key i need to change?
any help is very much appreciated
cheers
This isn't just a problem with the Blackstone; every WM phone I have had does this. I have found that a good locking program handles this quie well. I personally like S2U2 by A_C, but there are many others available. You can look in the apps forum, or check the development & hacking forum from the main menu.
The other thing to check is that you have all your notifcations set properly. I set all of mine to vibrate only. Many of them turn on the screen by default. Unfortunately this won't fix the problem on its' own though.
mwelch16 ... thank you very much for the reply
i will give it a try and see how it works for me.
so that means first of all i will have to slide that iphone type of lock and then take the call by using the regular slider?
is there any other way (without) an additional piece of software to handle this? cause after all there is the build in slider ... but somehow it's not working as it is supposed to. any enhancement to that?
thanks again
Is there a way how to disable the CALL PICKUP button which is on the left? so the first of the four buttons?
I think it's because it getting pressed while my phone is in the pocket.
thanks a lot
I use Pocket Shield - it's not free (free to try though) but it's worked well for me

No, S2U2 will unlock itself for a phone call and then lock the phone again after the call. So no need to slide to unlock and then answer your phone. It has a bunch of different settings, and yes I believe it locks the hard buttons.
thanks folks for the replies
i found all the settings i was looking for in the S2U2 options. so i'm good right now.
thanks again
You're probably answering the call by pressing the "phone" button (the very left of the four buttons on the bottom). You can either use those buttons to answer/hang up, or the on screen slider.
I've used AE Button Plus to disable the 'Answer' and 'End' hardware keys and re-mapped them to turn wifi and bluetooth off and on. This way there is no chance of hanging up on a call by mistake since you need to use the slide to answer on screen.
Similar but opposite problem
I'm having a problem along the same lines. If I get a call when the phone is in my pocket and answer it on my bluetooth headset, when the call ends the phone then rings someone else, usually the same person who is at the top of my contacts list. Not only is this damned annoying for me, it's getting a bit tedious for the person getting the unwanted calls.
Is there any way to get the phone to immediately lock as soon as a call terminates to prevent this happening? I'm assuming that once the call ends and it returns to the default contact/dial pad screen, the merest brush against the screen will be enough to start a new call.
I'm beginning to think I should have stuck with my iPhone

I've the exact same problem, 3/4 of the incoming calls rejected when I get the phone out of my pocket due to End button accidentally pressed.
What did they thought when they implement the slide to answer ????
The purpose of the slide to answer is to avoid such accident, but why the hell did they keep the Answer / End buttons active ????? total non sense to me.
Will check if this AE Button + app can solve this annoying behaviour.
has anyone tried Lockmelite?
It may help - haven't used it myself though.
x 2 for PocketShield. It uses the light sensor in your phone to prevent the touchscreen from activating when the device is inside, say, a pouch, or in your pocket.
I'm using evaluation version 2.6.2.10, which as I understand it, has full functionality, except that every now and then, randomly (and IMO infrequently enough to not be annoying) before unlocking it displays a 10 second message saying that you're using an evaluation version. Note that this *never* happens during an incoming phone call. Good stuff.
Hi,
Try TouchLockPro :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=444215
Now it handle light unlock in any cases, that as solved all my issues (pocket, in cas BT,...) and fulfill all my requirements.
BR
Pocket Shield doing perfect job for me
I use AE Buttons Plus to disable the "Answer" & "End" virtual buttons. Then I used iconsoft Phonext to handle all my calling functionalities. When a call comes in, Phonext display a lock screen which you have to slide before it presents you with all the options like answer, decline, silence etc.
This way, I never accidentally pickup a call or dial a number.
Hi!
This is my first post here. I'm using an HTC Touch HD for three months, and before this I used an HTC Touch Cruise.
The problem is that, every time I reject an incoming call using the slider, volume controls appear in the device display, and volume is increased automatically by one point. It also happens sometimes when ending a call with the slider. If I reject or end calls with the right hard button, everything works fine.
I have installed AEButton plus and 'Touch In Call Screen Tweak', but I don't think it's got something to do with the problem.
Is this happening to someone else? Does someone know a fix for this?
Thanks.

i'd be willing to bet that the installed app is the cause of your problem. simply uninstall it, soft reset and see what happens.
Thanks for your help. It seems that AEButton plus is causing the problem. Uninstalling it made the fix. I'll try to modify the app settings, and see if I can keep it without these bugs.
I know this question has been asked already but has anybody yet found a way to disable to hardware buttons whilst the phone is locked to prevent accidently answering or rejecting an incoming call whilst removing the HD2 from your pocket or pouch?
I have tried various software, tweaks that i found whilst searching this site but cant get any of them to work
Had my HD2 since Tuesday and love it, just need to find a way to stop answering the phone when taking it out of the pouch!
This is very important thing and I hope someone will find a solution soon.........
hi
there are solutions, pokectshield and s2u
iosu
I too need this, I have tried the ones mentioned but they either dont work or they have their own slide ontop of the HTC slide, so 2 in effect.
Would be nice to have one that just disables the button!
S2u2 and pocket shield did not lock the volume buttons for me so when in pocket they were still pressed annoying me a lot when I listen to my tunes. Pressing any other button was bringing the screen back to lock so in other words no difference at all.

How is this done with S2U? I installed it and the buttons still worked.
My experience is that if anything the bigger slider caused more chance of it unlocking accidentally, if the phone moves and the screen rubs against your leg. Wasn't an issue with a resistive screen but mine was worse for 'unlocking itself' with S2U. So far it texted a nonsense sms to an ex and rang my mum all by itself - both dangerous!
I always put it in that way yo help protect the screen from being knocked accidentally.
There is a perfectly working solution for this here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=556801
Simple and nice, install and soft reset and never worry about pressing the button while taking your phone out of the cover.

That application is for locking the hardward buttons when in a call, not when the phone is locked, or am I missing something?

It's quite the other way around. At least the cab I installed. Hardware buttons work in call, but when the phone is locked and there is an incoming call the buttons are locked (to prevent the accidental pressing).
Hence, not disabling anything you actually would like to use.
EDIT: This is what the description says:
"InCall Lock will temporarily disable Send (aka Talk, Green) and End (aka Red) hardware buttons when you receive an incoming call in order to prevent accidental call pickups/rejects while you are pulling your device out of your pocket. All other hardware buttons are untouched."
So the name can be obfuscating, but as the description says, the yes/no hardware buttons are disabled during an incoming call (prior to answering), but active during the actual call.

I don't know if I'm misinterpreting the question, but there is a solution for disabling the hardware keys to prevent accidental answer/reject of an incoming call which I've linked to earlier in this thread.
I have that solution installed right now, and when someone is calling I cant answer or reject by pressing the hardware buttons, I have to use the slider on the touch screen.

No one here wants buttons to be disabled when call is incoming. We just want buttons to be disabled when you put device in to sleep.
Go on test it. Put music on in music tab or WM player or any other with your headphones or without. Press red button to put device in to sleep mode (use manual lock if you have disabled auto lock). Press volume buttons and see what happens.
If you have s2u2 or pocket shield or nothing effect is the same.

I'm sorry but I can't agree with you. The thread clearly states in the first post
"has anybody yet found a way to disable to hardware buttons whilst the phone is locked to prevent accidently answering or rejecting an incoming call whilst removing the HD2 from your pocket or pouch?"
The answer to this is yes, and I've linked to the solution previously.

Sorry buddy but you're quite wrong. That's EXACTLY what I want and apologies if I wasn't crystal clear in describing it - I may not have been since I also want the same as you.

so how do you want to answer a call with this cab installed and enabled?
i also would like to prevent unwanted presses....but i do want to reject or accept a call on some way, without mispressing a button.
When a call comes in the screen is enabled so I just slide to answer or reject. It won't happen by accident in all likeliness, and removes the huge annoyance of the hardware buttons being accidentally pressed. It's the one thing that majorly pisses me off about this awesome phone.
If they wanted to, they could simply do a cab file that disables them perhaps when the proximity sensor detects the face of the phone is against something. That would be good too, unless I'm not considering some factor.
Hmmm, I've just installed that app and it seems to only partly work.
The reject call button locks perfectly but the answer button does not lock so it can still be pressed. I also managed to press the home button and get to the Sense screen once, but when I tried this a second time it didn't do it, so I think it might be a bit buggy.
A definite step in the right direction though, at least I now have fewer buttons that can be pressed accidentally!
Is there a way or even a program to automatically lock the keypad once a call is connect, without me having to do it each time?
I would like to know this as well. Anyone who could help out?
Yes yes yes !!! I need also .... I'd already stopped about 10 calls trying to lock the screen or when in my jeans ... any solution ?? I need it !
+1 i was going to ask that question as well
I need that 2
yeah hate having to hold the phone 2cms away from my ear incase i drop the call.
RE:
You can try S2U2 - there are two options => "Blank screen on talk" and "Lock on talk". I prefer "Lock on talk" because of automatic activation backlight (proximity sensor) in case of removing the device from your ear...
Thank you goodbreak,
but I'm not so happy to install a different program to make a so "simple" operation that with my previous P3600 I realized simply pressing the on-off button ...
Still searching for an alternative solution ...
I know of a Program that does exactly what you guys are asking for... But i havent tried it myself....Let me know if it works for you
Here you go

Thanks also to you, bshakil.
But all this program make too operation not useful for this issue.
The solution should be very simple. Separate the off (hardware) button from End call button.
A simply solution should be to assign to a different hardware button the Off operation.
It should be possible ?
Thanks to all for any advice !
I totally understand it ... my previous phone was tytn2 and i miss seperate suspend button as well..
But with only 5 buttons available on the handset (excluding Volume) . i dont think we can assign a button for suspend only...
thanks! i m now using smartlock it work great
