so i have noticed that in just general phone usage that my internal memory drops a mb or 2 for no reason..
any idea what is being cache?
i use cachemate and it.tatility(sp)
but its getting a tad anoying because im not using apps2sd due to its unstable tendencies.
i just need a place to start so i can stop it lol.

Just to clarify I am not talking about the storage in the device.
I have noticed ever since I have got this mytouch that the internal memory is low. Sometimes its around 17m and creeps up to 21m at times. I have looked at other peoples devices that are not rooted and have noticed way higher memory available sometimes in the 40m. I am seeing this using advance task killer or even linda file manager shows this available memory number. My device is rooted with the latest 4.2.8.1 mod. I have an 8gig sd card partitioned in 3 portions and one of the portions is a Linux swap file thinking that this would help it run smoother. I look at the running apps in the advance task killer and some of the time there is 4 apps running. I kill all of them and it boost up to 28m But then later on it comes down to 20m. I have heard people having up to 70m on their devices. I have never seen that ever since I have had this device. Has anyone heard of up to 70m before on a mytouch? Maybe I am hearing lies or whatever but this is confusing with the internal memory and what it should be and what people have seen and what I have seen on my device.
So my question is what should the advance task killer say is normal for memory available on the mytouch if all apps are closed besides advance task killer? Has anyone ever seen 70m here? If you have 70m then tell me what the heck are you running? I am not happy with sometimes seeing 17m and the device is slow as a turtle. Is there a way to use a part of my external sd memory card as internal memory within this os. I dont think the swap file is the trick to gain more memory for the device to use when more memory is needed internally.
Strange my rooted phone has 39M right now...
This site tells you how to move the cache (Tip #3)

hope this helps you
if your device is running slow...something is def wrong....i just got my wife a new phone (same as yours) its rooted running the latest cyanogen mod...no theme on it...and it fast!
her mem show anywhere between 25~40 when advanced task killer is used
hope that helps...
maybe a wipe and re-flash will get you running faster.
I've been having quite a big problem recently. Something has been sucking internal memory like crazy. I've flashed several ROMs and still have the same problem of the low memory alert.
I flashed another ROM today and had 144MB of internal memory at noon. Now, without downloading any apps or doing anything major, I now have 133MBs for internal storage. I've currently been using a2sd because iGo is a total space hog and its better than the native gps app imho (doesnt seem to lose GPS signal every few minutes)
The other issue I'm having is the GPS. Its pretty much crucial to me right now because I've been going from Thousand Oaks to LA and everywhere in between and have only found two ROMs that I dont have GPS problems with. Those: EE4.0 and Aloysius
However, both of those have been giving me the low memory warning constantly and I cannot recover space no matter what I delete. I tried deleting iGo (a huge app) and it only accounted for a few MB (the full app is over 20)
I'm quite confused and have never had this problem before.
I've searched the web and it seems theres no solution available at the moment and Froyo takes care of it.

Well, about the internal memory storage, it could be your cache. Try downloading an app called CacheMate; I'm not sure about the free version, but the paid version has a 'Power Clear' option that clears ALL the cache on your phone. It usually clears about 8-14MB of cache everyday.
Also, 11MB really isn't really a big deal at all, as it will function just as well with 133MB as it will with 144MB.
Don'y know if anyone observed this or not:
My N1 with a2sd enabled consumes more power than without. This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone as need to access SD requires additional power.
Anyone observed similar pattern with a2sd?
What does it have to do with app2sd?
That just points out what applications you can move to the sd-card.
You can do that without app2sd too...
Mod edit: Let's keep it friendly here, guys.
LOL I have not notice but I have notice a crazy lag to load icon stored on the sd card maybe I need a better class. I been doing ok on battery so far down clocking to 700mhz and flashing it to MIUI but I wouldn't doubt my app2sd drains battery since is probably always scanning to free cache.
Let's keep it friendly in here, guys.
Personally I haven't noticed any battery drain with the Froyo / Gingerbread Apps 2 SD / Apps 2 USB Storage. While that's a little different than the Apps 2 EXT, but I would imagine them both to not use much power at all. Both internal memory and USB storage use NAND flash memory, and it would be reasonable to assume that they use similar amounts of power.
Spx2000, you could have some issue in your particular installation. Perhaps try wiping cache and Dalvik cache and/or do a full wipe and reinstall your ROM.
I think there is a problem with App2SD that seems to have started with an update a few weeks back. In fact, until I started reading the comments here, I had no idea that it might be the cause. My Nexus One has had extremely slow performance and a slow battery constantly for the last month or so. It all started at once. It was around the same time as the 2.2.2 upgrade, but I swore it started a little earlier. Today I went and turned off the option to check downloaded apps in Apps2SD and it seems that my Nexus is back to its old form. Something must be wrong with the App2SD feature that scans downloads. It doesn't show up as the App2SD process slowing down the phone, but you see system load from processes such as init. If you have the problem, I recommend turning off the App2SD option which checks downloads to see if that eliminates the problem.
it is true that if I use the app in SDCard consume more battery?
Greetings all
I have a HD2 running Android. The ROM is DL DesireZ v2 internal. software number 1.72.466.4
I am at an understanding there is a new version out but the flash I have atm is 100% working besides one thing....the phone memory.
When I first flashed it I had loads of phone memory, I think it was like what, 150mb?
But I downloaded lots of apps, even used the Apps2Sd app to save space on the phone memory.
So after a while, I ran out of phone memory, how? I have no idea.
I have deleted all the apps I had and I still have <10mb space on my phone memory and I can not find ANYTHING on the phone memory taking up this space.
Anyone else have this issue?
My gf is going nuts at me over this, she said she may as well have the Win 6.5 back on it, since she had no apps anyways
Cheers,
Gib
yea i have the same problem..
all my apps are installed on my sd card or my ext3 partition.
still i have very little phone memory available.
somehow it looks like the phone is saving the app on the phone but then moving it to the sd card without removing it on the phone memory and causing data loss?
also when updating an app i just lose a lot of internal memory..
how is it possible that there are a lot of people with this problem (i searched the forums) and nobody know an answer to this?
Hi,
For the last couple of days, I am feeling like my mobile has become very slow or lagging. It appears that ram management is bad, sometimes can't run even few common application in the background. Navigation appears very slow.
I am using 4GB version, latest os with may security update. Mobile is not rooted .
I tried clearing cache partition and tried clearing cache of most application. But nothing improved .
Please help me guys!
Is badly placed screen guard affects performance? I have air bubbles Along the side.
Umm.. screen protectors don't affect the phone's performance in any way. But it is possible that you might get touch related issues with a badly placed one which is very rare.
Does your internal storage have enough space left?
Have you installed a lot of apps?
Check if any app is constantly running in the background.

In internal I have nearly 15GB left.
No. I didn't install that many app. Always have more than 1 GB RAM left. There maybe many apps syncing in the background though.
