code 0x85010014 problem, WMDC will not sync - Touch HD General

I have a big problem here . I have installed Windows 7 with WMDC.
My computer can see the Touch HD, i can even aproach the maps.
But when the Device want to sync with Outlook 2007 i get this errorcode 0x85010014.
I have reinstalled Office 2007 and WMDC several times but no results, the HTC helpdesk could not help me with this.
I hope somebody can help me

Hi ZDriver,
it looks as if there are many thing which could cause you to receive that particular error code in WMDC.
You can try the following:
1)Error '0X85010014' frequently occurs from Outlook APIs. Backup the Outlook settings and try to reinstall Microsoft Outlook (as suggested above you have already tried this step, so jump to step 2)
2)Upgrade to a later version of WMDC available. When using Exchange Server, you can alternatively turn off the folder redirection
3)Make sure to configure your anti-virus or anti-spyware program to allow ActiveSync that it can send scripts to Outlook
4)Make sure that the Outlook copy your are using is registered and legal
5)Try to repair or reinstall WMDC
6)Try to delete the partnership on your computer and create it again
7)Perform a soft reset of your device
8)Check for sufficient RAM
9)Run Scanpst.exe, your Outlook PST might be corrupted
If PST corruption issue persists even after running the Scanpst tool, try to import its data in a different PST and synchronize. If this doesn't help, delete the original PST provided a valid backup is available. However, it is suggested to use a commercial Outlook PST Repair tool when no suitable backup exists. A PST Repair software can repair and restore a corrupted PST using powerful and safe scanning algorithms.

Hi Mastoid,
Thank you for your advice.
I did all the things you suggested but no results.
Can it be the 64 bit version ? there is no 64 bit specific driver.
Somebody else suggestions ?

What version of Win 7 are you using - 32 bit or 64 bit? Could it be that you need the 64 bit version of WMDC?

I too have had problems with WMDC and Activesync. I have found a solution that works for me so I don't get the error messages:
1. Delete ALL items you want to sync from your mobile.
2. Delete ALL partnerships from your mobile.
3. Sync with XP PC (which in my case has all of the correct appointments and contacts which is all I want to sync).
4. Delete ALL partnerships from your Vista PC.
5. Delete ALL items you want to sync from Vista PC.
5. Sync mobile with Vista PC - make sure the device name the Vista PC suggests is the same as the XP PC.
Then hopefully you can sync either PC without any activesync errors. I have over 2000 appointments and over 400 contacts, so there is quite a bit of info. Each sync in 3 and 5 takes about 30 minutes. Each second sync only takes 30 seconds.

Well you can try to fix the PST error with the help of the scanpst.exe tool. if you are missing this tool then do a scanpst.exe download and repair the corruption. if not able to fix the corruption with the help of the Inbox repair tool then fix it with the help of PST repair tool which is an easy to use application for fixing entire outlook and PST corruption.

USB Active Sync problems on windows 2003

Hey all,
I'm running Windows 2003 Server on my development system, and would like to connect to my MDA2.
Activesync does say it has connected sucessfully, but never shows the "New partnership" wizard. Any for of syncing or file browsing results in nothing but error messages like "Unable to retrieve device information". I've searched a lot of fora already and tried re-installing outlook, activesync and the driver that came with my mda 2. I also tried disabling my firewall, starting all available serviecs etc. Nothing seems to work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
From other various posts uninstalling and reinstalling ActiveSync seems to be the solution to this problem and this worked for me. Ensure you have the latest version of ActiveSync - http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/default.mspx. Delete any current partnerships and then attach your device.
That didn't do the trick Activesync does start up, and a connection can be made, but the whole idea of partnerships seems to be diabled. There is no partnership wizard at startup, and no way to delete or edit the current partnership. I'll tyry again tonight, until then I'll just run all my updates from work
Jesse
Uninstall, disable driver signing and reinstall.
Failing that, make sure you have all available updates from Windows Update and the latest build version of Activesync. 3.71 build 4034 is what I use. I've used this no problem on W2K3.
Cheerio
Howard
The only way I can get it to work is to kill explorer.exe and disable the anti-virus (Symantec corp 9.0), uninstall ASync, reinstall ASync, connect device.
This setup works all the time, but after a reboot I have to start all over. I've tried disabling driver signing, system file protection in any possible combination to no avail, maybe I should just re-install my system (or it may be that I have Visual Studio .Net 2005 installed, but that seems a bit far fetched.

support code:85010014 error

"ActiveSync encountered a problem on the desktop
support code:85010014"
i received this when i was syncing my XDA II
any clue about this issue?
i am using Active Sync 4.1
help for you
renistall microsoft outlock and delet member ship mobile item
good luck!
Hope to help ;-)
'Support Code: 85010014' is a general error code generated by MS ActiveSync and is associated with errors with MS Outlook. When that happens, u should try first try:
Phase #1:
1) Soft-reset your PPC.
2) Reboot your PC.
3) Attempt to ActiveSync (if first couple of attempts generate errors, simply unplug and reinsert sync cable).
4) If that still doesnt work, see Phase #2.
Phase #2:
1) On your PC, open MS Outlook.
2) Go to Help>Detect and Repair...
3) Attempt to ActiveSync.
4) If that still doesnt work, see Phase #3.
Phase #3:
1) Export your Outlook data to a .pst file (IMPORTANT!).
2) Uninstall your MS Outlook completely.
3) Reboot your PC.
4) Reinstall MS Outlook.
5) Open MS Outlook to initialise settings for the first time.
6) Import back your previous Outlook data from your .pst file in #1.
7) Attempt to ActiveSync.
Note: You may not need to export/import Outlook data if you are absolutely sure that your PPC has your latest PIM data.

Outlook / Activesync suddenly stopped working

Hi, I have upgraded using the Helmi rom and my outlook email / activesync was working perfectly fine until day before yesterday, when it suddenly stopped syncing my office email.
I have had everything checked from my IT department, yet they weren't able to fix the issue.
I have also tried restoring an old backup and registry settings from the time when everything was working fine, yet no change.
The Activesync gives an error code: 0x85010014
any help?
Find on your PC these files:
SCANOST.exe
SCANPST.exe
Running these two files solved error with ActiveSync on my tablet pc (using ActiveSync 4.5 and outlook XP).
Hope it will help you also.
try deleting your mobile device profile from activesync.
it's mostly caused by the change of OS... the "first" mobile OS profile is in conflict with your "second" OS
...and check the XP firewall. My firewall blocks the ports activesync uses.

Xperia isn't syncyng anymore - WDMC red cross syndrome

Any idea whats wrong when I cant transfer any files to Xperia through Windows Explorer? I open device, doesnt matter if I try to upload to main memory or storage card and system says The file XXX could not be copied. It may not exist or cannot be transferred.
Same situation on tvo computers, probably something wrong in Xperia. I know that hard reset would proly help, but it is last option...
UPDATE so tried to solve my problem and found out, that there is something wrong with WMDC and sync. When I connect device on one of my two PC, it installs driver but in WMDC is just red cross and text Error. Nothing else. Tried to disable advanced network support in USB2PC, tried to reinstall WDMC even with deleting stuff in registry. Still no help - I dont want to do hard reset, so many programs already installed and tuned
strange is that it shows in Sync Center as guest and I'm able to see files, but not upload anything nor sync data
EDIT Tried:
-reinstall WMDC
-reinstal WMDC with registry cleanup (HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE...)
-disable firewall
-disable advanced network services in USB2PC settings
-run net localgroup Administrators /add Local Service (found in some thread)
-deleting driver for X1 in device manage (Mobile Devices\X1a)
-clean sync data from ActiveSync in mobile, resulting just in empty contactlist and still not being able to sync
-delete windows mobile network driver in device manager resulting in device not being detected anymore, althrough net driver shows up after conection
getting bit desperate now
So hard reset is on the way...lets see if it helps.
Hard reset should work.
I was able to sync when I first setup the x1, then I added the owner information to the device, sync failed after that. I did a hard reset and setup owner information first then sync with wdmc, sync works every time now. (I think wdmc registered owner information during initial sync to the device, I maybe wrong but I am too lazy to test my theory since I got it working now)
do you recall when you added owner information? prior or after the intial sync to wdmc.
changed owner info long time ago, after sync - it was fine.
I can recall that yesterday I used SK Tools to clean X1, and also deleted some strange files in root of memory (some with extension .vol). Dunno if it was what caused problem...
EDIT and yes, hardreset worked
i had this problem.. what i did.. opened sync center..deleted the device.. readded it through device center. problem solved?
there was only red circle with X and message Error, nothing you can do
ya this happened to me. in sync center in vista (not sure bout xp) u can deleted the device. do so, then readd it using the windows mobile device center (partnership blahblah) and it should work again :S?
No, only think which helped was hard reset. And now it happened again, getting quite mad about it
Same problem for me !!
Red circle with an X in windowss vista but all OK on my other machine (win XP)...
Maybe a ROM bug ??
I am using USA NorthAmerican generic stock ROM
Which ROM do you have ??
EU stock (bought in Czech Rep.). My also works with ActiveSync on XP, byt not with WMDC on Vista (2 machines tested). Crap crap crap - only solution I found is to reset and reinstal device

HTC Sync install problem & no PC Sync

Second day with my Hero and really like it so far, but;
When I tried to install HTC Sync, near the end of the install, I get,
"Generic Device Management Executable has encountered a problem and needs to close",
and wants to send a report to Microsoft, after dismissing the first one another one the same comes up, then after the install I get;
"Unable to create a device manager instance".
When I try to Sync with the PC, HTC Sync won't find the phone.
I've tried the HTC Sync that came with the phone and the latest from the HTC website with the same results.
I'm running Windows XP Home, fully up to date, anti-virus is disabled during the installation.
I have spent the best part of eight hours today searching this site and googling the problem, I've found people with the same or similar problems and still can't get it to work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have the same problem, tried uninstalling/reinstalling both versions, but the problem still exists.
I am also running Win XP SP3.

Me too. XP SP3.
Speaking directly to HTC gave no answers, and I gave up as I don't need to sync to outlook.
Im having problems getting HTC 2.04 to work after update.
C:\Program Files\HTC HTC Sync\Application launcher\Application Launcher.exe
This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.
And no it didn´t, tried it. Has tried remove and afterwards reinstall, but still not. Connection to USB is working, but can´t sync.
Just for info, I emailed HTC yesterday and got a reply back today. I tried it, but it didn't solve the problem, good customer service from HTC though.
I've pasted it (as sent) if anyone wants to try it, god luck.
"please try the following on you PC. STart, sun, msconfig, services, "hide all Microsfot Services" then "disable all", start up, "disable all", apply, close and reboot. Try the install again in this mode with no internet connection plugged in (as your AV will be fully shut down). If this works, you can reenable evertyhing, start, run, msconfig, normal startup, apply close, and reboot."
Lol, looks like a bold move
But good idea with the services, maybe we can narrow it down.
Do you have Itunes installed? Just a wild guess now as I have it installed, maybe the Apple Sync conflicts with HTC Sync.
Im not sure if that im able to do the services thing, but i will try.
No itunes is not on, but at home im using Vista 64 with itunes and its working!
Hmm, didn´t work for me.
Hope that HTC will come with an update.
For now im using CompanionLink to sync between Lotus Notes and Google Calendar, but it will only work for 2 weeks, then i have to pay.
Didn't work for me either. I tried disabling all not needed services.
@SharDK Do you have the problem in Win XP SP3 too?
@Lupus77
Yes its Win XP Sp3
Sry i wrote fail in my nick, its Shark, but nevermind
New reply from HTC.
"Are you able to try again in Safe Mode? "
Tried but still no good.
Is anyone here who got the HTC Sync working with Win XP SP3?
Phone not being recognized by the HTC Sync program
I had no problem installing the HTC Sync software BUT it does not recognize my phone. Yes I am running Windows XP Service Pack 3. I have read the manaul carefully and done everything they say, including enabling USB debugging. But to no avail. I also have tried both the new and old versions of the software.
PLEASE HELP!! I need to update my ROM
Weird, since before upgrae i had no problem connecting to sync either in Vista nor Xp SP3.
But after, then XP SP3 gives problems.
@Salmanbodla
When you connect to XP with USB, do you mount the SD card!
If you can here´s driver for XP http://www.pdauser.dk/files/driver.zip
When you connect, go to Device manager and look for ADB and try update the driver. Even try connect the Hero 2-3 times mounting the USB, that way i got the ADB in device manager. But then Sync failes, but had no problem before update.
I wrote HTC yesterday, so hoping that they will come with a solution.
Now they returned an email, writting to me that since i have a Danish Win XP, i have to install sync in Program Files/HTC/HTC sync
Im sry but im not using a Danish XP, so therefor its in the right place already.
Looks like HTC ´dosn´t have a solution for sync, very bad, since i have to use it to sync Lotus Notes at work.
Latest from HTC. Want NFO logs.
Latest Email from HTC:-
"HI STephen,
We are trying to replicate this issue here, are you able to send us the NFO logs?
Many hanks
MIke"
It's nice to see they have an interest in the problem.
Now the question. How do I send them the NFO logs? I'm a bit lost here.
Just wanted to add my "me too". I'm experiencing the same problem.
It used to work but since I reinstalled XP (serious crash) I get this error when trying to start HTC Sync:
C:\Program Files\HTC HTC Sync\Application launcher\Application Launcher.exe
This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

The only difference between my old and new install of XP is that my old install was SP2 and the new install SP3.
Me too
I cant get HTC sync to work on Windows VIsta. Had Hero for 2 weeks. But cannot connect with HTC sync. I only need this for ROM upgrade... not for syncing.
Stephen did you get an answer from the htc support.
I have the same problem.
Has anyone had luck fixing the issue with HTC Sync refusing to run because 'the application isn't configured properly'?
It worked fine for me about 2 weeks ago with Win XP Service Pack 3, but doesn't anymore. I'm not entirely sure what I've changed since. I went on Windows Update and downloaded these patches (Update for Root Certificates [September 2009] (KB931125), Security Update for Windows Media Format Runtime 9, 9.5 & 11 for Windows XP SP 3 (KB968816), Security Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 (KB954430), Security Update for Windows XP Service Pack 3 (KB952069), Security Update for Windows XP with Windows Media Format Runtime 9.5 and 11 (KB941569)); I changed which SATA port on my mobo the hard drive connected to; and that's about all I know of. Everything else would have been using programs already installed, which I had used before trying to use HTC sync.
I'm not sure which version of HTC Sync I used before, as it may have been the one on the SD card when the phone shipped, or it could have been downloaded from the website. It was probably the one on the SD card. Yesterday I tried uninstalling it after the error message and reinstalling v2.0.4 downloaded from the HTC website, but still no luck.
So, has anyone had any success with this?

Any chance you can uninstall those updates to see if they are the offending items?
