'Support Code: 85010014' is a general error code generated by MS ActiveSync and is associated with errors with MS Outlook. When that happens, u should try first try:
Phase #1:
1) Soft-reset your PPC.
2) Reboot your PC.
3) Attempt to ActiveSync (if first couple of attempts generate errors, simply unplug and reinsert sync cable).
4) If that still doesnt work, see Phase #2.
Phase #2:
1) On your PC, open MS Outlook.
2) Go to Help>Detect and Repair...
3) Attempt to ActiveSync.
4) If that still doesnt work, see Phase #3.
Phase #3:
1) Export your Outlook data to a .pst file (IMPORTANT!).
2) Uninstall your MS Outlook completely.
3) Reboot your PC.
4) Reinstall MS Outlook.
5) Open MS Outlook to initialise settings for the first time.
6) Import back your previous Outlook data from your .pst file in #1.
7) Attempt to ActiveSync.
Note: You may not need to export/import Outlook data if you are absolutely sure that your PPC has your latest PIM data.

activesync to same PC after hard reset and backup-restore

I need a little help.
After a crash I hardresetted my Hermes and then used SK Tools to return to a backup point. But now when I try to activesync I get a message on my PC saying that the mobile device has already synced with another PC and it requests a new name for this PC.
I haven't synced with another PC. What should I do ?
When I restore from a hard reset, I normally delete the existing activesync partnership and set this up again with the restored device. Did you delete that partnership?
how can I delete existing partnership ?
In activesync on the pc just go File->Delete Mobile Device.
At least that's how I do it
This is the other way.
I need to delete it from WM5 device.
I guess I found it. I enter Activesync software on PPC and delete the relationship there...

How to transfer contacts from Trinity to a fresh PC running Outlook 2003

Hi,
I've got a new PC and need to transfer all my contacts from the handset on to the PC. I've got rid of the old PC and of course didnt extract the contacts file first....
There must be a way of doing it as all the data is on the handset right?
I've sync'd them both up but the data doesnt come across and I dont know how to force it.
I'm a little scared now as if the handset goes down I will have lost everything!
Please help (ASAP!)
Thanks
When you create a new partnership, and the PC version of Outlook is empty, but the PPC has data, ActiveSync should copy the data from the PPC back to the PC. If you get the Conflict Wizard, elect to Merge Data. Do NOT 'Replace Items on My Device' or you will lose everything.
To safeguard your data, copy the file called pim.vol (in the root of My Device on the PPC) to a safe place before doing anything else- at least if the sync goes tits-up, you can restore what you had!
1st thing to try is just to reconnect and let A/S run (I assume you've tried that?)
Next, is to delete the A/S partnership on the PC (Menu/Remove Partnership), the reconnect the PPC and go through the New Partnership ritual again, and see if it works this time.
If that fails, it may be time to remove the Outlook data file. Its called Outlook.pst and usually resides in a hidden folder in your 'User' folder (/local settings/application data/miscrosoft/outlook). Restart the PC, then reopen Outlook, and it should ask you if you want to create a new Outlook file (or it may do it automatically- long time since I've done it, so memory a bit hazy!)
Now either make a new Partnership, or rerun A/S and see if that works.

code 0x85010014 problem, WMDC will not sync

I have a big problem here . I have installed Windows 7 with WMDC.
My computer can see the Touch HD, i can even aproach the maps.
But when the Device want to sync with Outlook 2007 i get this errorcode 0x85010014.
I have reinstalled Office 2007 and WMDC several times but no results, the HTC helpdesk could not help me with this.
I hope somebody can help me
Hi ZDriver,
it looks as if there are many thing which could cause you to receive that particular error code in WMDC.
You can try the following:
1)Error '0X85010014' frequently occurs from Outlook APIs. Backup the Outlook settings and try to reinstall Microsoft Outlook (as suggested above you have already tried this step, so jump to step 2)
2)Upgrade to a later version of WMDC available. When using Exchange Server, you can alternatively turn off the folder redirection
3)Make sure to configure your anti-virus or anti-spyware program to allow ActiveSync that it can send scripts to Outlook
4)Make sure that the Outlook copy your are using is registered and legal
5)Try to repair or reinstall WMDC
6)Try to delete the partnership on your computer and create it again
7)Perform a soft reset of your device
8)Check for sufficient RAM
9)Run Scanpst.exe, your Outlook PST might be corrupted
If PST corruption issue persists even after running the Scanpst tool, try to import its data in a different PST and synchronize. If this doesn't help, delete the original PST provided a valid backup is available. However, it is suggested to use a commercial Outlook PST Repair tool when no suitable backup exists. A PST Repair software can repair and restore a corrupted PST using powerful and safe scanning algorithms.
Hi Mastoid,
Thank you for your advice.
I did all the things you suggested but no results.
Can it be the 64 bit version ? there is no 64 bit specific driver.
Somebody else suggestions ?
What version of Win 7 are you using - 32 bit or 64 bit? Could it be that you need the 64 bit version of WMDC?
I too have had problems with WMDC and Activesync. I have found a solution that works for me so I don't get the error messages:
1. Delete ALL items you want to sync from your mobile.
2. Delete ALL partnerships from your mobile.
3. Sync with XP PC (which in my case has all of the correct appointments and contacts which is all I want to sync).
4. Delete ALL partnerships from your Vista PC.
5. Delete ALL items you want to sync from Vista PC.
5. Sync mobile with Vista PC - make sure the device name the Vista PC suggests is the same as the XP PC.
Then hopefully you can sync either PC without any activesync errors. I have over 2000 appointments and over 400 contacts, so there is quite a bit of info. Each sync in 3 and 5 takes about 30 minutes. Each second sync only takes 30 seconds.
Well you can try to fix the PST error with the help of the scanpst.exe tool. if you are missing this tool then do a scanpst.exe download and repair the corruption. if not able to fix the corruption with the help of the Inbox repair tool then fix it with the help of PST repair tool which is an easy to use application for fixing entire outlook and PST corruption.

Need help with activesync on Win XP SP3!

Hi.
Some days ago i had a problem synchronize my HTC with PC in activesync (pc could not detect HTC), so i decided to reinstall it, but that doesnt solve my problem, instead of i now getting this message "To synchronize this device, you must install 4.5 or newer on your desktop computer." but i already have activesync version build (5096). Then i tried this: Soft reset, Hard reset, tried unistall activesync again - but that doest worked ! Maybe somene know how i can solve this, I'll be very grateful.
if you want to take the small risk, try removing all traces of Activesync connection from your PC and from HTC:
On PC:
1. search for this folder (or similar):
\\Documents and Settings\...your user name...\Application Data\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Profiles\
inside it should be folder with your device name - remove it,
or just remove everything there
2. in registry remove all entries under the key (not the key):
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\Partners
On HD2:
3. It would be good to make full system backup first, or at least PIM data (contacts, appointments etc.) backup
4. DON'T remove connections in ActiveSync application or you'll lose all your PIM data
5. in registry remove all entries under the keys (not the key):
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Partners
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\Partners
6. you could aslo delete all contents inside Windows\ActiveSync folder - not sure if this is necessary but will not harm you
now restart both your PC and HD2, connect the cable and it should be just like the first time those two have met,
hope it'll work
