Hi, I have upgraded using the Helmi rom and my outlook email / activesync was working perfectly fine until day before yesterday, when it suddenly stopped syncing my office email.
I have had everything checked from my IT department, yet they weren't able to fix the issue.
I have also tried restoring an old backup and registry settings from the time when everything was working fine, yet no change.
The Activesync gives an error code: 0x85010014
any help?
Find on your PC these files:
SCANOST.exe
SCANPST.exe
Running these two files solved error with ActiveSync on my tablet pc (using ActiveSync 4.5 and outlook XP).
Hope it will help you also.
try deleting your mobile device profile from activesync.
it's mostly caused by the change of OS... the "first" mobile OS profile is in conflict with your "second" OS
...and check the XP firewall. My firewall blocks the ports activesync uses.

Hey all,
I'm running Windows 2003 Server on my development system, and would like to connect to my MDA2.
Activesync does say it has connected sucessfully, but never shows the "New partnership" wizard. Any for of syncing or file browsing results in nothing but error messages like "Unable to retrieve device information". I've searched a lot of fora already and tried re-installing outlook, activesync and the driver that came with my mda 2. I also tried disabling my firewall, starting all available serviecs etc. Nothing seems to work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
From other various posts uninstalling and reinstalling ActiveSync seems to be the solution to this problem and this worked for me. Ensure you have the latest version of ActiveSync - http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/default.mspx. Delete any current partnerships and then attach your device.
That didn't do the trick Activesync does start up, and a connection can be made, but the whole idea of partnerships seems to be diabled. There is no partnership wizard at startup, and no way to delete or edit the current partnership. I'll tyry again tonight, until then I'll just run all my updates from work

Uninstall, disable driver signing and reinstall.
Failing that, make sure you have all available updates from Windows Update and the latest build version of Activesync. 3.71 build 4034 is what I use. I've used this no problem on W2K3.

The only way I can get it to work is to kill explorer.exe and disable the anti-virus (Symantec corp 9.0), uninstall ASync, reinstall ASync, connect device.
This setup works all the time, but after a reboot I have to start all over. I've tried disabling driver signing, system file protection in any possible combination to no avail, maybe I should just re-install my system (or it may be that I have Visual Studio .Net 2005 installed, but that seems a bit far fetched.
Is there a way of installing Active Sync without installing or upgrading my computer to Windows XP SP2?
Does your XPsp2 installer not like your XP?
Why would it not work?
I installed ActiveSync 4.1 on an XP system without SP2 and have had no problems.
How about some error messages? Anything in the logs?

Hi. Thanks for the response everyone.
Where can I find version 3.7?
Active Sync 4.0 and 4.1 requires Windows SP2. The problem arises after I upgraded to Windows SP2. I can't connect to my WiFi access point anymore. I disabled every firewall there is and I still could not connect to my access point. Reset the computer and still could not connect. My TH55/E1 and EXEC can, with the exception of my computer. Now I can install Active sync 4.0 and 4.1 without problems but not having the internet access is my down fall. So after installing some stuff I usually run the restore option from previous. So you guys can imagine the trouble I am going through.

Sounds like very strange behavior. I'd suggest you try to fix your PC rather than installing an old version of ActiveSync. (Your Exec, after all, requires ActiveSync 4.x to synch Windows Mobile 5.)

Here are the requirements for 4.1.:

Thanks Triband81.
Right now I've installed all the applications I want so I restored back prior to Windows SP2.
No problem, so you're using 3.8?

No, right now, I've installed all the applications I need using active sync 4.1.
I still could not connect my computer to the internet, so I restored back prior to SP2. I don't need to sync anyway, not unless I have to install something in the future.

No error messages. It is as if, Windows SP2 cut off my internet connection totally. I have no problem installing nor using Active sync 4.1. I just could not connect to the internet after I upgraded to windows SP2.

I have no idea as to why I could not install Active Sync 4.1 without Windows SP2, it might be a requirement. But it is odd that you were able to install yours.
XP SP1 and Async working fine, both on the lappy and the home computer although im using version 4.0
Whats the exact problem tha you cannot connect to your AP with SP2??
A Commen problem is that the PC cannot get an IP Adress. If this is your problem, install SP2 and after that the "KB893357-v2" Update, this is an optional patch that brings WPA2 and other features to XP, and it fix this WLAN Bug. Patch is here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...FamilyID=662bb74d-e7c1-48d6-95ee-1459234f4483
And yes you need ActiveSync 4.1 for Mobile 5

Thanks very much lutzs! I'll try it right now. I'll post back if it works.
I have my settings on automatic, so it'll detect my access point, that is without SP2 installed and my internet works.
But as soon as I upgarde to SP2 so I can install Active Sync 4.1. My computer can't access the internet saying: "LOW SIGNAL". I tried manually assigning IP addresses, now I saw that windows was able to connect, but still Internet explorer won't work.
Thanks for this update link. I'll upgrade again to Windows SP2, then install the file from the link you suggested. I'll post back with the result. Wish me luck!

Hi lutzs,
I tried this today and it still did not work. Maybe I need to fully reformat my computer. We'll see if I'm in the mood for that. It takes an entire day to reformat my computer and I hate to waste time. Although, I already tried that once before and did not work. Anyway, I restored back to basic windows xp without the SP2 update. Thus, I don't have Active Sync installed since version 4.x requires SP2.
I have been trying to sincronize my S200 Qtek but it is impossible. I have made several hard and soft resets and tried with three different computers. I have installed 4.1, 4.2 and 4.5 beta versions of ActiveSync, but it is always the same: ActiveSync seems to turn on but no sincronization initialize when I connect my S200 to the USB port.
I have also made a format and reinstall windows XP but I can't syncronize information... please help me!
I have also tried to install "USB killer" without success...
Did you disable Win XP firewall? You have to disable it or any other firewall that may be installed.
If that solves your problem search MS site for how to authorise ActiveSync for your firewall.
Yes, in fact when I reinstalled windows I didn't install Norton because of the firewall. I have also unactivated windows firewall... but no sincronization occurrs
Maybe you could try another USB Cable? Or try to sync using Bluetooth?
Can't sync my S200 either...
Don't think it's cable because it is brand new :'(
Have you tried to upgrade to the latest activesync right after the installation of windows? (found here)
And perhaps some overactive antivirus programs can bug up syncing too sometimes. Did the installation of new hardware go well after you plug in your device?
When you plug in, did nothing happen or was there a small screen saying it was getting information from the phone? If yes, were you able to setup a connection (guest etc) and after that it didn't want to sync?
Got this issue resolved the fault was some tweaking I did... See, I use fixed IP with my router so I disabled the DHCP client service on services.msc... So activesync could't get the right adress from the prophet... Still don't know how I manage to make that assumption about this problem, but gladly I did
Hope this help other people with similar problem...
Same issue

Did you manage to fix your USB problem?
I need some support with the same problem.
Regards,

First of all i really want to thank all the Helmi_c and all the developers; My BA is most updated running wm6.
Well much better than wm5 but I have some issues:
1. cant sync it with my PC in anyways (BT, usb etc), USB drivers are not working correctly.
2. sometimes when i pick or dial a call, i cant hear nething.
and last but not relevant to this, guys how do i stop my BA slider from falling down when I use keyboard.
1. Try delete the actual partnership in AS, sync again; if not reinstall AS on PC
2. No problem here with the sound.
same problem here
I upgraded my XDA2s, customized it,backedup, then upgraded my brothers XDA2s and used my customized backup on his XDA2s.
Now my XDA connects fine, but his doesn't !!!
Both our XDa2s's are identical in everyway.
tried a hard reset and restore from another backup and still no luck!
we were trying to save time re-installing the same softwares.
tried deleting partnerships, no luck. tried spb backup and clone, no luck.
any ideas!
Do you get any error messages on AS? Can you browse the internet from device?
usb drivers
can anybody post usb drivers i think this is the problem cause my device isnt installed properly it says problem with inf file.
whoever is able to connect his device to xp desktop via active sync usb connection, please copy the drivers folder contents from program files in active sync folder.
thanks, hope this works
Is your windows firewall enabled? Since WM6 activesync makes use of a LAN connection to sync with the PC, you must allow activesync trough the windows XP firewall, or disable the windows XP firewall completely...
no sound problems with me...
did you try to install WM6_SoundFix_.cab ?

Hi everybody!
I'm having some trouble connecting a pocket pc to my pc. I'm getting the following error message from activesync when I try to establish a partnership connection:
"Cannot verify the version of ActiveSync on your device. A program such
as a firewall may be blocking a port ActiveSync uses to connect to the
device, or you may need to upgrade to a more recent version od
ActiveSync on the PC"
Even if I try to cardle a virtual pocket pc (visual studio) I get the above message.
I'm using activesync 4.5 on a windows xp service pack 3 pc. Installing AS 3.8 would solve the connection/partnership problem but I must use AS 4.5 because Visual Studio does not except older versions of AS.
I've tried so far everything: allowed all ports needed for AS (even deactivated the firewall) - I tried to delete the partnership folders but found out that they haven't even been created by AS.
Even google couldn't really help me: most people get this error message because they have installed a HSDPA usb modem driver from hauwei. But I did not.
does anyone have a solution for this strange problem?
thank you in advance!
I have the same problem. I once got into it through My Computer but since then I've had no luck whatsoever!
You have exactly the same problem?
if you're not using visual studio just install active sync 3.8 as mentioned above. But I found an uggly solution: Cardle you pocket pc - you will get the regular error message. then open the taskmanager and kill the process rapimgr.exe and restart it again (C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync)
Uncardle and recardle the pocket pc again - you will get a critical error message but it can be ignored. Now you will be able to accees your data.
To deploy your software on pocket pc with visual studio you might restart the remote rocedure call locator (Control panel -> administrative tools -> services)
hope I could help you! but I'm really not satisfied with this solution. I'm open for better ways to solve this problem.
