the official ROM of HTC
_HTC Touch Pro_RUU_Raphael_HTC_FRA_5.05.406.1_Radio_Signed_Raphael_52.58.25.30_1.11.25.01_Ship.exe

You sure you don't have your Wifi or GPS turned on ? If you have that location service turned on, that uses you GPS I beleive... Those are the 2 things that kill that battery the fastest for me.... mt batterys typicalyl lasts 2 days using the Energy rom

Use Advanced Config 3.3 and enable all power saving features.
Disable 3G when not needed.
You should get more than a week standby time with stock battery.

That`s very nice - I`m getting only one day :/ (though I`m using raph100 only for 4 days now). Maybe it`s because I`m doing so much stuff on it very often, make some benchmarks, 3D games, applications tests , customization, xandroid(one time a day for 5-10 minutes), etc... I`m using the newest Energy rom (20th of march).

Perhaps. I meant 2 days from 100% to dead with all the radios *turned off* and phone just sitting there doing *nothing*. However, after a few cycles of draining the battery totally dead (the phone turns on and then shuts off right away) and letting it charge for 24+ hours I now only get a 10% power loss for each day of standby; even with the phone radio left on. Wifi kills the battery fast though. REAL fast. Maybe two hours of you tubing and it's dead.

Tytn / Vario II Battery

Hey again,
Had my vario for a couple of months now, but really getting annoyed with the battery now...
Charged it to full in the car this morning (11am ish) and now 15:30 it's dead.
It does have push mail enabled and has received around 20 emails, but surely this should kill the battery by then.. I wouldnt mind, but have been at the pc, so havent even switched the screen on....
any comments / advice?
I'm having the same problem with mine. Does the battery pack feel really warm even when it's not charging and just on standby. This is my second Vario, the first had a faulty keyboard latch, but the battery didn't get hot and it lasted for days on standby.
Its the Edge/UMTS/3G chip..
I had the same problems.
Since I switched to GPRSW instead of UMTS/Edge/3G connection my battery will do twice as long. Search for the free tool "BandSwitch" on these forums and you will find a solution to switch between GPRS and 3G without a hassle...

Hmm... whilst that may work, it's one of the reasons I got the Vario is that it has 3g bandwidth, so to disable it to have more than a couple of hours batter seems crazy.....

Well it's a balance - the idea is not to disable it altogether but to switch it on when needed but not keep it on routinely. For example much of what I do does not need the bandwith and so it's only needed from time to time.

have had a look at the running processes, and has been running nothing today, still a pants battery.
As for the rom, am a bit dubious, as if I do that and it turns out to be a hardware problem, then surely that would void my warrenty?

Battery soon exhausted - case hot

Hi All,
I haven't seen this as an issue reported by othyers.
I graduated from an Artemis, which had good battery life.
My Orbit 2 runs down "quickly" (I know this isn't scientific), and the battery cover gets warm when using Tom Tom, for example, and the battery is down to 60% after an hour or so.
I feel it is not normal - any thoughts?
well, though TomTom sucks more energy from the battery, I don't think it's usual that the case gets hot. Mine doesn't. I would check for warrenty.
You could find out if the heat comes from the battery pack or the device itself. Then you might solve the problem using a new battery pack.
If you use TomTom offroad a lot you might me interested in the advanced battery pack with more "mA" which includes a double think battery and a bigger backplate.

Check that Wifi power save mode is on "best battery".
Battery on my HTC touch cruise drains after a little more than two hours of using GPS.

Are you using the official ROM or have you installed a cooked one?
Reason for asking is that I've read other posts where people have had batteries running down quickly after flashing cooked ROM. Way to fix that was to do a hard-reset immedialely after flashing the ROM.
The Polaris will get a bit hot if it's working hard for a long period of time.
Thanks so much for the replies - I feel better about it now!
3g also makes phone hot, if you're not using video calls turn 3g off it saves alot of battery.
You can't reduce the blacklight during using TomTom. So the battery life will be more than 3 hours in TomTom navigation.
If you are using HSDPA al lot..than it gets verry hot to.
And like other also told..wifi use is a big drainer and heater to!

Thanks for that.
I can see how to switch off HSPDA, but not 3g; sometimes the phone goes mad jumping between edge, 3g and HSPDA.
How do I switch of 3g?
In phone settings you can set the radio to GSM only.
Just lanch the phone app and then choose Menu->Options.
You can then access to the Network or radio Tab in order to desactivate 3G.
No matter with this setting if you don't use MMS or Mobile internet.

excessive battery consumption... help needed

Hi.
i am using Touch HD with extended 2600mAH battery and lots of software but the battery barely last a day. i was hoping you could help me diagnose the problem.
configuration :
-duttys XT 3.0 using manila
-1 hour of talk time a day at the most
these are my main suspects :
-checking for mail on two accounts every half an hour
-S2U2 1.62
-phonealarm
-pocketbreeze new PB2
-touchresponse
i installed nueDynamicClock but i can't see any difference.
first of all, maybe this sounds normal to you ? maybe my device is defected ? i'm sure the battery is ok.
maybe someone knows a good battery diagnostic program...
any comments you have on any of my suspected software ?
thanks,
david
Try this, quoted from official HTC site:
My battery drains fast even without using Bluetooth, WiFi or GPS. Is there any way to check if it’s faulty or not?
1. Charge the battery to 100%. 2. Disable from running or uninstall any 3rd party applications. 3. Disable Bluetooth. 4. Disable WiFi. 5. Enable flight mode 6. Set backlight to maximum settings. 7. In the power management settings, uncheck any option that would set the backlight to turn off. 8. Let phone stay idle for 1 hour and check battery capacity. 9. If there is a loss of 40% or more, then this means that battery is faulty and needs to be replaced.

well obviously this doesn't help me too much because, as stated, the battery last almost a day with full usage so this diagnostic will be a negative... but surely something is wrong. Thanks anyway.
didn't anyone have any problems with one of the above ?
Max battery life
Battery drain in almost a day is quite normal with most of the roms
exception, i flashed Black Pearls v2.4 rom and the battery is still 20 to 30% at the end of the day. myself satisfied with the performance of this rom...

Why dont you check the idle cpu usage when your phone is on but not doing anything. It should be 98-99% most of the time. If you get high cpu usage by shell or services then it is most probably phoneAlarm or other plugins on Today screen.
If you are using wifi, make sure you set it to off when standby. (Note: If you are using AE Button (mine is v2.63) and if you use it to turn ON wifi, the wifi will not go to sleep even in standby thus draining battery)

Battery decreases about 30% after standby about 10 hrs

After standby about 10 hours, my HD2's battery decreases from 100% to 71%.
Is this normal? Or I should get a battery replacement?
I'm using the 1.48 WWE ROM.
There's already a thread discussing that exact thing...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=607873
Join in there.
with a bit of research in these forums you can find your answer and ways to make your battery last longer...
mine lasts more than 2.5 days with a single charge and normal use.
i have disabled 3G and data connections -when i dont need them- and i use flight mode during the night..
oh! and as johncmolyneux said, a bit of search never harmed anyone eh?!
Thanks for the information.
djngal,
What is ROM you're using? I always disable data connections when not use, turn on Power Saving. But overnight the battery is drained 30% .
And are you using G-Alarm? I doubt that G-Alarm causes this problem.

im using the stock 1.48 WWE and im also using g-alarm because it helps to put the phone out of flight mode in the morning and its also a great alarm compared to the buggy win alarm
during the night with flight mode on, mine consumes around 5% of the battery. i would suggest to try for a couple of days to use nodata app that it can be found on this forum, leave the phone on 2G so virtually using it only for calls as u would use a non smartphone ( ) and see how battery holds on. it should hold for 2 days with minimal settings like that...
i suspect that your reception might not be good at your home and the phone struggles to hold a 3G data connection therefore draining your battery..
if everything else fails, hard reset, leave the phone for a few days without any software installed and inspect the battery..
for me, a problematic battery would be the last place i would look...
i also think there are some apps that you can monitor your battery usage and which apps are consuming it, although i have never used it so i cant help u further with that...
good luck with troubleshooting and dont panic

So I think G-Alarm has nothing to to with the battery life in this case.

The wildfire has a really good battery already
No need to calibrate imo. Can last 2+ days for me when I don't abuse the wifi and games.
First feedback.....no noticable difference seen.....What do seem to help is to charge you phone longer even after green light indicates that battery is full.....For me than takes longer to go from 100 to 99.

How do you do this? I'm doing everything, I underclock my phone down to 160-245 Mhz, I turn on my wifi only when I have to, I keep my phone in airplane mode permanently, I constantly run on display turned down to max. And yet I've yet got to witness my phone going over 18h uptime. Do you run a custom ROM or something?

I find the same thing, and have even been thinking of returning it because it can't last longer than 24hrs. I have even restored to stock and hard reset, so no apps added or anything, BT/WIFI off and the battery life still sucks.

Yes I've tried openfire rom and wildpuzzle rom. Battery lasts as I have stated. I also use setcpu to set up profiles when phone screen is off to help it a little
Would also like to add that on the stock rom, the battery lasts long as well but custom rom is better
My phone is a stock. But as you can see, the battery life leaves a lot of room for improvement. How can I increase ir?
Not sure, but after rooting my battery life improved signigficantly, and it also charges fast than before... htc wildifire.
ok so i charged my phone to 100% and left it on my table untouched last night when i got to sleep, left it in my pocket today at uni without using wifi/games, just to check the time, is currently still at 99% with up time of 14hrs so far.
and if you want to maximise your battery life with stock rom, lower brightness, disable auto sync of accounts, disable 3g if you're not using it, try juice defender, i think that might help you guys.

Hmm strange, I have installed it and icon shows normally in application list.
I went through the calibration process and my battery life has increased significantly. Currently I have 5 hours and 12 minutes of uptime with occasional phone calls and some wifi usage - battery is at 99%.
I find that battery life is all about how strong ur signal is.
At home i get a full 3g signal, battery lasts about 30 hours with my syncs on all day, couple of hours of wifi and maybe 30 mins of gaming and about 30mins of phone calls.
When i'm at work and the signal fluctuates i get about 20 hours average.
When i was in a restaurant for a party recently from 7pm to midnight, there was hardly any signal and i used about 60% of the battery in 5 hours!
At the end of the day if the battery lasts for 18hours with all my stuff turned on then i won't complain as the phone does everything you need except make the tea!
I mean what's the point of turning all the smartphone stuff off? Might as well just go and buy a Nokia.
