Okay so i loaded up Tazz's CM6 Froyo V3 only to find my A2SD wouldnt work on it. Never having used Nandroid RESTORE before i chose a Evil Eris 2.0.1 backup i had. restored. And i'm stuck in a boot loop.
So i battery pull. And flash the 2.0.1 like i normally would any other ROM. well im still stuck in a boot loop...... can anyone help me????
I rooted a friends eris today and flashed senseable and got stuck in a boot loop. It was a refurb with the 1.49 bootloader so I decided to put the engineered bootloader (1.49.2000 or whatever it is) on it then I installed the original root rom via fastboot and it booted up normally. Could be different circumstances though.

did you wipe factory / dalvik before you restored the backup?

Shouldn't matter. A restore wipes everything and puts the phone exactly as it was when you did the backup. Worth a shot though

Maybe try downloading a rom you haven't tried before. Could be a corrupted restore file.

ok and youve tried using all of your nands to restore correct?
and the sdcard isn't still the issue correct?
i was stuck in a bootloop for 13 hours thinking i bricked until i swapped in an old sdcard from an old phone that was formatted to full fat 32(that i preloaded with a few roms for ease of use), only then could i do anything from recovery. also the old a2sd method doesn't work in froyo im sure youve noticed that by now.
did you do a wipe of the ext partition? i had a problem with xtrROM 3.1 running boot loops because i didnt wipe the ext partition. once i did, everything was fine!

only thing that i know of that will help that situation, for future usage though you might want to invest in a second sdcard, one for old Eclair and one for FroYo
Same thing happens to me I was stuck with plain Jane v1 for a while and couldn't use any other rom because bootloop but then flashed kaosfroyo then everything went back to normal.

ok, I have had both the two versions of 2.2 on my phone and I love froyo but in both cases I can not tap on a photo and share it through email. I found a thread with another gmail.apk and I adb pushed it and cleared the program but nothing seems to work. I must have my gmail working. So does anyone know how to fix it or hot to get 2.1 back?
currently:
2.2
Baseband:
2.05.00.06.11
My name is Adam

I'm guessing you didn't make a nandroid backup before flashing, right?

Nandroid Backups are not always helpful. I had done a complete Nandroid backup of my 2.1 before I installed 2.2.. and when I wanted to go back.. I wiped 2.2 first and then tried to load from the nandroid backup. the backup worked.. but it was extremely buggy.. kept rebooting and freezing all the time.
Fortunately, the latest 2.2 that came out a couple of days ago worked well for me.

The only reason I went back to 2.1 is because both of the 2.2's i loaded would not let me send pictures through email. I loaded different Gmail.apk's and nothing would fix the problem, I loved 2.2 but cant live with out a working Gmail.apk

I may be mistaken, but I believe MagDLR has its own backup/restore function built-in.

My HD2 is in the shop right now, so I can't explain without it here in front of me. From my memory alone, I believe there's an option in the Magdlr menu to backup/restore. It may be under Services. If it's not there, then I totally made up that backup function. The next best thing you can do is to use a backup software like Titanium/MyBackup.

Yes it can be. I used daf roms for a while, and in clockwork, choose backup / restore and it will take an image of the partitions, including the ext if memory serves,, which can then be later restored. But you gotta keep the partitions the same size or bigger else it wont fit when you restore.(or maybe it does re write the partitions,I never tested it)

Problem is that he is missing CWM and needs to install it prior to trying new ROMs, which will wipe any ROM he currently has before he has a chance to back it up.
ahhhh hadnt spotted that bit, my oversight. How about the cwm that boots from sd?, suppose that depends whether the nand rom he flashed has the recovery partition,,,
bummer. thanks for the input guys
You could do a full backup using titanium (or whatever its called), then just reflash your current daf rom, but including the recovery.img file from the clockwork files, and using the clockwork flash.cfg, making sure it is creating a system partition big enough for the system.img from the daf rom.
that way you sneakily apply cwm and keep your daf rom, which you restore the backup of, then enter cwm and voila, you can use backup restore.
There is also a converter app to convert daf roms to cwm, you could do it that way,,, backup, wipe, magldr, clockwork, convert daf rom to cwm, flash it, restore backup.
Might also wanna update to latest magldr whilst ya doing that..

Yes, this will work, even if you don't have the recovery partition. You get an error message when CWM boots, but the backup/restore still works fine. Just setup the CWM files in the SD card and boot AD SD from MAGLDR.
So.. I'm planing on flashing CM7 on my wildfire
so far I've done: S-OFF and rooting my stock rom 2.2.1
I followed a guide on howto backup my current rom... booting in fastboot > recovery > backup & restore > backup.
Made a backup of /clockworkmod/backups/ on my HDD just to be sure.. in case something goes wrong with the sd card and gets formated. I was even thinking of putting a 2gb sd card and make another backup of the rom
I guess all it has to be done now is downloading CM7 copying it to SDCard, reboot, install from zip wait a few mins and if all goes well I'll have CM7?
Read dozen guides/tutorials and I just want to be sure that if something goes sideways I'll be able to restore.. and not brick my phone completely
Any suggestions are welcome.
Don't forget, format data, cache and dalvik.

I confirm a dalvik cache wipe is recommended.
Just make sure you have nandroid backed up your current setup.ie.backup using clockworkmod. In the path you have mentioned above(clockworkmod/backup/) you should see a date like named file which is your backup.
Also put a copy of gaps (google apps ) on your sdcard and flash straight after cm7 before you reboot. Goodluck and welcome to cm7.

Ya.. i too made use of that... now im running android 2.3.7. CM 7.1.0.1... and actually when over clocking above 691 Mhz, my phone gets stucked.... Do we have any other option to rise the cpu frequency????????????????????????????????????
Also wat is meant by kernel, i found that if we flash the kernal, then we can attain the maximum freq(768 Mhz).. is that right?? if so how to flash that kernel... (i have downloaded tat kernel)

but wen i chose above 700 mhz, the next second my mobile gets stucked... i have to remove the battery and re insert it...

Every chip is different, some can tolerate 768 and above others struggle to achieve even 710 you need to find what's stable for yourself.

Keep minimum 352 and maximum 710...
It is very much stable for me however it depends on the chips as said earlier by mate Scratch....
Maybe try to reflash cm or get the latest version of nightly..mine is running on 352-729 stable

Hi all,
It seems I must have deleted the gingerbread nandroid backup I did before moving to ICS a while ago. There is now a need for me to move to GB for a few hours whilst I test something out.
Is anyone able to either:
- Point me in the direction of instructions on how to revert back to GB
or
- upload a STOCK GB nandroid that I can restore via cwm
thanks!
Have you looked in the development section? I'm sure there's stock GB ROMs available to just download and flash. I don't think anyone's gonna give you an actual nandroid as you'd then be logged into their account.

Is it safe to just flash a lower version ROM.. I was under the impression that it wasnt hence the request..
Just backup whatever you're on right now.
And do a FULL WIPE in CWM.
Then flash a GB ROM.
You can run (mostly) any ROM regardless of what your kernel, radio baseband.
You can't downgrade only when you do official updates like OTA.

Yes. Make a backup first and make sure you format /system and /boot along with the factory reset. And of course if you use Titanium don't restore any system data.
