My XDA IIi Car Set-up
I use the Globalsat BT-338 - Bluetooth GPS Receiver with TomTom Navigator 5.1.
I also use Checkpoint 5.02 (Free Speed camera software) and this is configured to give me detailed voice warnings, it takes a bit of setting up but once done it is the best, saved me a few silly points and fines. I have some very good voicefiles if you want them let me know and I will upload. Link below for Checkpoint.

I use a silmline car holder with addon interchangble functions is here, I have it sucker attached to my corner of side window, rotated to landscape view as I find TomTom better in that view. They even do an extra adapter for my Mountain Bike. I also have the Vent Holder, which is very sturdy, but you cannot rotate to landscape view only portrait view, but still usefully. They do the car charger as well.

As far as headsets go I use a Jabra 250v, but it is ugly and I am going to try the new Sony Ericsson Akono Bluetooth Headset HBH-610 with digital noise cancelling, automatic volume control and Echo canceling, looks good too, I hope it does what they promise.
I hope this is helpful
thx daz999
you've been a great help and if its possible i'd like those extra voices ,once again thx

Jabra 250v?
Hi Dazz
I notice you're using the Jabra 250v with your 2i - how's the sound quality?
I bought one too, but gave up using it as I couldn't get a decent signal between it and my phone (2i as well).
Perhaps you did something I missed?
Cheers
Re: Jabra BT quality
Hi,
No I agree with you the Jabra doesn't work well with 2i, I've had the same problems myself, so much so I've stopped using BT headset at the moment, I use the loadspeaker function in the car for calls and also wired headset that came with the 2i.

Just to throw another bit of kit into the pot, my missus bought me a ThinkNavi cradle for my birthday which I find very usefull!
OK, it isn't as portable as a BT unit, but it certainly makes it easier to hear the directions at high speed!

I have a THB carkit with my 2020i but it suffers from a lot of echo during calls. I also have a BT dongle for this carkit and calling via the dongle and the THB is a lot better than with the fixed cradle for THB.
any knows a fix for the echo effect ?
Hello!
I´ve just finished upgrading my XDA mini to the german TMobile ROM-Version 1.13(with BlackBerry Extensions) and i´ve installed the Bluetooth Patch from this Forum. Now i want to use my new Moto HT820 Bluetooth Stereo Headset in combination with my Bluetooth GPS Reciever. If i use each device on it´s own there are no Problems, but if i use them TOGETHER none of them works....
Can anybody help...?
Thanks,
Thomas
Same problem here, Parrot CK3100 and a GPS. When on the phone, quality of conversation is not 100%, also GPS falls behind.
Any solutions? Perhaps another BT stack ? Or maybe PocketBT Tools is the solution?

same problem here, parrot ck 3100 sounds bad when navigating with tomtom gps. i guess the different BT signals get in eachother's way ....
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was always under the impression that Bluetooth will only work with one device at a time due to the fact it creates an exclusive pairing session each time it connects.
Please Help US!!!!!!!
No one seams to be interested to help US!!!
Problem to use GPS and headset at the same Time!!!
Please help!!!
Thanking you in advance
maybe no one has the same problem anyways ... when i navigate with tomtom the parrot still sounds like crap, when i turn the bleutooth gps reciever off it sound good .. anybody?
i am considering buying a bluetooth headset but....any luck by now with using BT headset and BT gps at the same time?
or is it just not possible with this phone?
havent tried this since i got my BT headphones but i wouldnt think it is possible given i cant run headphones and use some heavy applications too sucessfully.
plus im sure tomtom and streaming would both want to use similar ports
anyone else knows if it is possible to use bluetooth headset and gps at the same time?
And does the voice from tomtom come through the headset or not?
(i prefer not)
it works for me
I'm using xda mini with plantronics 320 bluetooth headset, a noname gps receiver and igo europe as navigation software. Of course they work one at the time so when the phone rings gps connection is lost but when I finish the call gps connection is restored. The sound of the headset is the same when i'm not in range of gps receiver.
I did a big mistake when I installed a different bluetooth stack hoping that it might help(ROM 1.12.00WWE). I was wrong. I had to hard reset the phone and since then everything is just fine (about 2 months).
ok i finally got around to testing this, im using tomtom 6 with the maps located on my storage card. also using some mp3 i had on my storage card.
started music streaming to bluetooth HT820 headset, running ok. started tomtom up paused into tomtom splash screen (i thought oh ho this aint going to work too good) sure enough once the tomtom maps kicked in the gps and the headset stopped working (tomtom froze up).
as far as i could tell it wasnt that they wouldnt both run but they was both working from storage card and needed a high level of access to do it.
so in a nutshell i dont think this would be possible, this is using a 400 htz cpu and 128 memory
Hi all.
I'm the proud owner of an Orange m600. With your great advices I managed to connect it (autoconnect really) with my Pioneer p55bt.
Now I'd like to hear the TomTom voices through the speakers. I installed the tornado files in the prophet, and it appears the "set as wireless stereo" option in the menu of the Pioneer, in the list of bluetooth devices.
What's wrong? Maybe my stereo doesn't support a2dp, but I think I've read someone saying that his p55 worked, but just through one speaker.
The really strange thing is that programs like btaudio, bttoggle... either work. My device doesn't sound when I execute them, so I suppose it's sending the audio via bt, but it doesn't sound in my stereo (yep, maybe it's in a magical place with all my lost socks).
Any help will be apreciated.
Oh, one more thing, not so important. I'm looking for a program of black/whitelists, with the option of answer as "mobile phone is off or without signal" (joé, como lo diga en inglés).
Call Sms blocker, Smartsfilter, Photocontacts... just allow to "reject, mute etc" (and they have a small lag between the tone and the rejection).
Thanks a lot guys.
Curious if you ever got this working. I'm thinking about purchasing a Pioneer DEH-9800bt and I want to do exactly what you're trying to do (Tom Tom over incar speakers, as well as phone calls) I'm curious to see if you had any success.
Thanks
MF
Hi fiddelm.
The hands-free works reasonably good. Changing the cod in the registry allow you to autoconnect it without doing anything (btw, is there a way to always make the device discoverable?).
Using Jetware to manage bluetooth, you even get the battery and signal icons on the display, like if you were using a Sony Ericsson.
I've read that some people made 'tricks' with the TomTom and Pioneer radios, and they had gps and hands-free working at the same time without probs, but only hear tomtom lady on the front left speaker.
I can't even get that (it would be enough for me), but if I make any advance, I'll let you know.
Bump!!
Hmmm interesting... Good to hear. I'll probably pick up the DEH-p9800bt in a couple weeks when my Tax Return comes through. Hopefully I can get something rigged up as I'd love to have GPS commands through my in car stereo as well as the ability to receive calls. Let me know if you figure out a way to set this up.
Thanks
MF
Hi, Can anyone tell me how to get TomTom to issue route instructions through the HTC wired headset rather than the phone speaker? It would be really usefull to just have the instruction and not have to worry about looking at the maps.
try the latest version of tomtom nav, you want to find TT7_910_9185_vga black.cab I installed this last week and voices now come through my a2dp bluetooth car stereo which they never did on earlier versions of navigator7
Thanks for the info but I have never managed to get mine to work with the Motorola car kit I have in my car. It says it connects and the buttons work the stop start of the music but I get no sound. Any ideas as this would be better than the wired head phone. By the way I used the blue version. what is the difference between this and black?
I've been using TT7_910_9185_vga black.cab and when I plugged in my headpsones the instructions came straight out of them.
No idea about your car kit but TT navigation works fine over BT headsets. Just enable both wireless stereo and hands free profiles on your HD.
I once did get wired TT audio on my Wizard but that was ages ago and I cannot remember how. Besides BT is the way to go.
Tried both TT versions mentioned, UI colour is the only difference.
make sure your BT device is connected before starting tomtom, i noticed mine coming thru phone instead of car stereo speakers yesterday and I had started tomtom in the office before leaving to check it new the address i was going to, hence the instructions came out of the phone and not my BT device.
Hello,
first a little explanation:
on my motorcycle I have a gps with bluetooth. The gps is wired to an (non BT) intercom. The phone is paired to the gps wit BT so I can call and receive calls through my gps (who is wired to my intercom => helmet spekers)
Now my question: can I play the radio on the sex1 and let it play by BT through my gps so I can hear it in my helmet?
Any ideas or suggestions?
I think so, at one point I could listen to music through my car speakerphone. Mine randomly stopped playing music and sounds besides calls though and I don't know how to get it back, if I ever find out, maybe it'll point you in the right direction.
ok, thanks.
At this moment I can't ty it myself because I'm working on the motor and everything has yet to be reinstalled, so I ask it already "in advance"
