So, Dish Network Offers Remote Access to you your DVR blah blah blah.. and of course only on your Iphone... Why do they always go with the Iphone instead of just launching it with both Iphone and Android..
I already upgraded my receiver so i could use this feature on my EVO but i then read that its only out for the Iphone and soon to be released for Android... Why is this.. is there another way around this..Seriously whats with everyone going to Iphone before Android.. its not like Android is SOOOOO NEW that no one knows what it is.. its a lot better than Ihpone in my Opinion!!
Are you sure you are talking about Remote Access or Sling Player? I don't know about Remote Access, but there is an app for Sling Player. The reason I ask is you said you 'upgraded' your receiver which could imply you went with the VIP 922 with the built in Sling.
No I received the 622 I called customer service and they told me that I can still watch tv with that receiver but I need a compatible phone that being an iphone.. they said they are "working" on an android app but let's see how long that takes..

If you go to dish.sling.com/mobile.php on phone's browser and log in using your dish network credentials you can still get most of the features you are looking for in the app. I've never used the app so I'm not sure what I'm missing, but I can look at my guide, schedule dvr event and even control my 622 from my phone. Just tried it, and said "account not authorized for beta" ... ???
That sucks...Not sure what I did differently but I vaguely remember there was process that I had to go thorough to activate the receiver when I first hooked up broadband to the 622 about a year ago. Try going through the main dishnetwork.com on a computer browser. Once you login click on the remote access on the left side and see if it gives you instructions on other steps that may have to be completed before you can access your receiver over the internet. If you can access it on the computer the phone should be able to as well. Other than that suggestion, I'm out of ideas. Good luck!
Hey, thanks for the feedback, I have wireless internet throughout my house.. I called Dish and told them that I cannot put an Ethernet Cable in the back of my Receiver because my Router is in the Garage and the Receiver is not near the Garage. they told me I had to Buy a Wireless USB Adapter and plug it in to the back of the Reciever..
My question is... once i hook it up to my reciever.. how am I going to be able to Connect that Adapter to my Home Network?? does the receiver have an option on the screen to set this up?
I have my 922 hooked up to my wireless via the Ethernet port on the back of the receiver to what is typically known as a wireless game adapter. You have to connect the adapter up to a computer initially to configure its SSID, key and any other necessary settings but once you are done you simply connect the receiver to the adapter with an Ethernet cable. The receiver doesn't know that it's not on a wired network and doesn't care.
you said you have a 922 did you have to buy it? or are you renting it from Dish Network?? I called and they told me i had to buy it for about $469!!!!

Now my question is, I thought that you could have it so that th EVO acts a wireless hotspot for other devices.
Now, I know that you can have it act as a hotspot and transmit the 3G/4G signal as a rotuer.
BUT, I thought it was possible to make it so the EVO could share the wireless signal that it is connected to, to other devices.
Sorry if this sounds confusing, but I live in an apartment complex with free wifi, but it requires you to open up a browser and it redirects you to a page where you enter some info and it gives you a free "account" to access the internet. Well, my friend wants to go on Xbox Live and well, the 360 does not have a browser to enter the information, thus the wifi blocks his 360.
My EVO picks up the wifi just fine (because it has a browser) so I thought it would be a good idea, to receive the wireless signal and transmit it to his Xbox 360 as a different router but still using Wireless speeds.
I swear that when I was messing around with my EVO that I could share my wireless internet with other devices, but I thought it was a useless tool, because if the device can already connect to WiFi, then why does it need to connect to my EVO. But now, I see a good use for it, but for some reason I cannot figure out how to do it.
3G is a lot slower than our WiFi, and we don't have 4G in Rochester, MN.
Does anyone know if there is a way for the 360 to bypass it, or know how to transmit a wireless signal from the phone and turn it into a router.

I don't think that it is possible. There is only one wifi radio. Either it is using wifi to be a client, or as the hotspot or tether application a host.
Think that you would need two wifi devices, like a notebook or desktop running wifi and using the ethernet port running Internet sharing plugged into the back of the Xbox using ethernet or possible using ethernet from your PC into a router.
I work for a company that installs systems similar to the one probably being used in your apartment complex. Devices on our system (Nomadix) are authenticated by MAC address. Have you tried to spoof the Xbox's mac address on a computer, sign in to the web and then attempt to connect with the 360?
AFAIK you cannot both connect to an access point and broadcast a signal for another device to connect to. I know that you CAN connect to an access point and USB tether. You can also connect a laptop to the free wifi and share the connection to the xbox with a cat5 cable.
download "wireless tether pre 11" and use it to play xbox live, i used myn the other night for about 5 hours and only burnt through 20 some megs, um if you dont have wifi on your xbox, use a laptop and pic up the signal with it and plug in an ethernet cable to your xbox from your laptop. that will also work, it is a bit slower than your net in your apartment, as i was only getting two to three bars the whole night.

Spoof your computer mac address to that of you 360. Activate, then connect 360
Or use a laptop to connect to wifi, then a bridge ethernet cable form laptop to xbox.

Has anyone here tethered their Sammy to an Android tablet? My google searches have come up snake-eyes.

The only way to tether those Android tablets is using Wi-Fi HotSpot feature. WP7 currently doesn't support wi-fi hotspot feature.
There is another tethering feature that can be hacked to support on a Focus but that's pretty much limited to dial-up modem type connections and I'm pretty sure Android tablet does not support such DUN type tethering through USB.

I was afraid of that I do use the hack to tether to my laptop using a dial up connection and it works great. Hoping maybe I could use bluetooth to tether with the tablet.

Well... my persistence paid off
Simply refusing to cave to Rogers and spend more on my current plan, or buy another data stick, I tried a few different products and eventually solved my own problem.
Purchased the Aluratek 3G Portable Wireless USB Cellular Router, directly connected my Samsung Focus and popped in the APN settings provided by Aluratek support and BOOM... 3G Hotspot heaven.
The router is very compact and has a rechargeable battery. Packs very nicely in my Targus Netbook bag with the other accessories. Very cool!

My wife and I are among the early adaptor for WP7. We've waiting for a way to tether since day 1. It's been 7 months, I think we need to move on. We are thinking, instead of getting 2 more phones, maybe we can hack our Focus into Android phones. Is there a project going on?
I just bought the lenovo s10-3t netbook with a touchsceen (windows 7). Ive seen on youtube and done some reading about it being hacked to run android... It'd be awesome if I could just tether the focus to it like I do in windows 7 although as there arent drivers for our phone for windows I dont see how thats possible correct?

Here is my deal and hopefully someone can help.. I have an Evo 4g.. currently I do not have internet in my home (cable started getting to pricey in my area) and have rooted my phone and have been using the wifi tether app. However, I want to also share connection with other devices throughout my home, ie, 2 laptops, 1 desktop, 1 xbox360 so I purchased this Zoom 4501 wireless N router that works with 3G/4G, wifi, cable etc..
Now, I was able to connect my phone to the usb port on the router, go through the setup wizard and and was able to actually get the router up and running however, the only way to do it is by turning on the usb tether option in the settings menu.. it only works on 3G and not 4G.. when I turn on the 4G option, it says that I do have an account with sprint.. is there any other way around this? If anyone can help, let me know thanks!

Just make sure only the router is connected to the evo with encryption, everything else will be handled by the repeater
Buy a router that you can put tomatousb firmware on it. Then configure the wireless as wireless bridge or client to the evo's wireless tether. Works great for me when the times my internet is down.
IMHO a data connection I'm paying for is a data connection. I'm peeved at the thought that Sprint is not allowing outside world inbound port connections to my device (S4). I have a technically challenged mother-in-law and it'd be great if I could VNC into her device to help her.
Droid VNC Server supposedly allows this over 3G/4G and even shows my external IP address, but all connections fail.
VMLite Server ( http://goo.gl/Q14Hq ) does work, but ONLY via local WiFi.
Anyone have experience with getting this to work over 3G/4G data connection or a way around this?

You are paying to have DATA in your cellphone, not a internet service. Use wifi..

You're doing better then I am if you have it working at all. I'm on rooted MF9 and haven't found a working server yet. Only tried the free ones so far though. May have to give in and buy VMLite I reckon.
Have you thought about using a MDM to access her device. At my job we use SOTI Mobile Device Management (recommended by Samsung), with this software I am able to remote access and control any android, ios and Windows xp-Windows 8 on any network. I have tried 3G, LTE and Wifi. Our school currently has 670 Galaxy Note 10.1 and I can control each and every one. I can remote in to the device run programs, watch videos and push out Apps silently without having to have the student login into google services. Most companies will give you at least a 2 week trial to see if you like it and that is when you can remote in to their device.

"Lol dude", my old Epic 4G had a unique IP, as does my partner's current Epic Touch. (So did my Palm Pre.) But the Epics are/were Wimax, so it must be that Sprint got stingy when they moved to LTE.
Sucks for me. I know there are dynamic DNS updaters... anyone know of a persistent reverse SSH tunnel app?

Have you thought about TeamViewer? I use that from my mobile to log into my parents computer to help them.
Setup a VPN connection and use that to connect to what you want?
