I have a rather annoying problem here. Listening to streaming radio over the WiFi (which is how I listen to all my streaming, I mostly stay around the house...) it will stop after a few minutes because the HD turns itself off even though I have set it to never turn off. In the power options. BLanking the screen and letting the stream play has worked nicely on all phones up to now (the previous one was the original HD) but for some reason it does not play nice on the HD2. I have tried Pocket Music and Pocket Player, but none of them are able to do this. And WMP does not support all the streaming stations I listen to. I found one old thread that said you could use the "lock" in start menu, but that did not help. Does anybody know a solution for this?
I have the same problem, using Pocket Scrobbler for last.fm. Really annoying as I want to stream music whilst in the shower (obviously not with the phone in there with me, just in the same room), or even walking down the street.
Solved! For me it was the WiFi that turned itself off. I used the cab from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5353195 to keep it always on. I have tested it for around 15 minutes, and it doesn't turn off the wifi when the screen is black, so I would guess I could be streaming as long as the battery holds!

Just to warn : You could seriously damage your phone by keeping it in the same room when you take a shower...Water vapor and humidity may harm your device, which my iPhone was well damaged by this method
Then you need one of these: http://www.otterbox.com/iphone-cases/iphone-3g-3gs-cases/2600-series-pda-case/
I've got one for my HD2... Both capacitive and resistive touchscreens work through it!
LOL Wtf is this Looks like a robocop phone

That sir, has just made my day.
And it has saved my different, expensive phone's ass (does a phone have an ass?) at least three times the last five years or so when riding my speedboat or fishing! I'd rather look silly than be without my phone! The insurance doesn't cover water damage...
Alternatively you could do what I do which is put the phone outside your bathroom and have it bluetooth over the music to a bluetooth speaker which you put in an exped dry bag or similar (doesn't muffle the sound much that way.)

Hey guys,
If I put off my screen while a song is on the music stops too, and I think it's kind of a battery waste to let the screen on while listening to music.
Is there any way the music can keep playing while you have put off your screen with the button on top of the device?
Thanks a ton.

You can let the device turn off the screen itself.. Happens after 1 minute depending on which settings you have.. Works for me!
But i agree, irritating problem, guess there will be a fix for this!

You are not only turning off the screen but also putting the device to standby, use one multimedia player like Coreplayer or MortPlayer, both can
turn of the screen while keeping the device on.
This happened to me - I think it only happens in WM itself - the TF3D interface is fine to click the screen off - it carries on uninterrupted
Use a Headset than you can turn off the screen but the phone keeps on playing.
I just tried it and it DOES only affect WMedia itself - the TF3D music interface is fine - I haven't tried it with WMedia AND wired phones though - as has been said that may be a potential solution - I don't know because I always use BT headphones on mine
Frankly I've been using the TF3D interface far more recently, as it's MUCH easier than WMedia to create playlists on (I f..king HATE windows media TBH)
Hi, wanted to briefly comment on my largely positive HD2 & skiing experience.
Video
Worked fine right down to about -15c (-25 with wind chill), noticed some jerks in recording but cant say if it was cold related, Here is the HD2 video I made.
Bear in mind that some videos had gamma/brightness adjustments.
Camera
Yea, not too bad after the HTC camera patch, the last image at the end of the video is a (curve adjusted) photo taken with HD2. I was impressed with the camera under some conditions (medium-good light levels and little movement), still not in the same league as an N95 especially in low light conditions.
Music application
Worked OK, but its still pretty lame, making the experience quite frustrating:
1. no volume control on the headphone piece
2. long pauses while (large) playlist loads, why is this not cached???
3. Cant use your own headphones with remote (like Nokia) so had to use crappy HTC ones
4. Scrolling large lists in the cold! (I believe there is a scroll bar in 1.6x)
5. loads more niggles
General
No problems most of the time but a couple of times in extreme cold (-15) I found the keyboard became really erratic and once it even completely stopped responding. I also noticed that coming in from the extreme cold quite a lot of fog behind the screen, this cleared up after the phone warmed up with no ill effects.
All in all I was happy, BUT I was pretty pissed off to find, after running for the plane, a scratch on the screen, keys or coins the culprit.. just shows how wrong the unscratchable claims are!
Sorry to hear about the scratch on your screen. You should have listened to your head and bought a screen protector. It's not too late.....
WB
And you really should have tested the SatSki application, then you could also have tested the GPS functionality.
Had this application already running on my previous phone, excellent application for skieers and on the big HD2 screen it is really handy.
I've downloaded Satski and will be trying it in Les Deux Alpes in a couple of weeks, will report how it goes.
I must admit I noticed the same thing about not being able to ajust the volume using the remote on the headset. That's a real pain.
Also intending to buy some new thin gloves for using the phone poss The North Face E-Tip or Blacks do their own version which I tried in store and they work ok (perfect for texting your mate at work while you're have a beer on the slope)
Headset
I use my HD2 when snowboarding with Jabra bt620s bluetooth headset. It works great and I can adjust the volume, skip songs and answer calls with buttoms on the headset. And its nice not to worry about wires.

To be fair I don't really have a problem with you guys being behind me...........because you can't keep up on your trays.
What I really need is a camera that can look out for groups of you sitting down just after the brow of a hill.

Try mapping your snowboarding as you go down the slopes, i'm gonna test the skiing mode this weekend. But there are some ski trips recorded with sportypal that I found, http://sportypal.com/Workouts/Details/124172
Hey guys!
My HTC HD2 is showing some strange behaviour lately. When I go cycling and turn on some music with the music tab (earpieces plugged in (creative ep-830)), it starts switching songs and even switching in to like 1.30 of a different song all of a sudden. Plus it starts calling people all of a sudden. It could be my pocket, which could be thight but I'm afraid not. When I go jogging I'm wearing wide training pants which give absolutely NO pressure on the phone but still it starts calling people and switching songs or in between songs. Could this be because of the accelerometer or something?
I hope somebody recognizes this problem and is able to assist me.
Thanks in advance!
Any help guys?
Come on, surely someone must know a solution?
I don't know a solution, but I've had the problem and found the following helps.
face the screen away from your body. it seems that body heat can activate the screen. I find that in a suit jacket having the screen facing towards me can cause the problems you indicate.

Hmm, I'll try this out, but also I've had it in a bag once like this: http://www.essaco.com/images/product/images/11576.jpg , but it showed the same behaviour. I'll try your solution because I indeed always have the screen facing towards my body.
Thanks for your help! I'll report the results soon!
Im also having this situation.. Very annoying, the HD2 just calls people. It's a bit expensive for me now, as it happens really often.
I just got it last week, and now it does it often.. :S
its not the screen guys, its your headphones. the remote-control connectors in the plug input is receiving some signals it shouldn't. try wearing a different set of headphones and see if the problem is still there.
I had also same problem on one of Energy ROMS. Strange thing was that it occured ony when my headphones where connected.
Once when i changed them into HTC ones and installed never energy rom problem dissapeared

Only seen with some headphone plugs and not all. If you make sure they are well fitted in, and clean the contacts as well as you can, you should be able to make them work (happened to me once with a pair which wasn't used for long - oxidated contacts - and a car radio cassette adapter's plug which wasn't fitted all the way in). If you can't you just need to try another couple of headphones.
by the way, this also happens when the headphones are inserted or disconnected from the device... would be nice with a fix to disabke the remote control input completely!
I have been trying to find any info about this issue all over the internet but havent had any luck. I really want to know whether this a problem with my device or if its justthat speakers themselves arent that great and i have to live with it. My speakers mostly when playing music with vocals rattle, i dont know how to explain the sound but its as if the case its self is shaking because of the volume. I am sure people have had this type of issue with speakers on laptops, desktops and so on. Should i return it and get a new one or is this an issue with all iconia A500's? I hope iwas able to explainthe sound well enough.rattling, case shivering sort (f.
Any info is appreciated, thanks guys.
I have just tried with couple rock and modern jazz and some dance music. If the volume is at the highest volume there is distortion but it doesn't feel like really really bad, just as if you are over driving a small speaker.
One thing you can try is, put the same music tracks that feels like blown speakers to a usb disk and go to a store that has a display model of the A500 that you can play with. Take your A500 with you so you can test both at the same time in the same environment.
Thanks for the reply, its not so bad but it can also get really annoying as it is the most thing an ear catches. I don't want to return my device only to get a new one that has the same issue. I will take my Acer and a USB stick and try out the same music at the store, if the display device has the same issue then I'll just have to live with it, if not then I'll be getting an exchange.
One solution for track problems
I have the same problem on certain recordings, i have found the same distortions of those tracks on several devices. After a bunch of reading i came across a solution that at least worked for my tracks. They were recorded in MP3 mode. Mp3 is not changed by using equalizers. You can adjust the loudness of the sound or like jazz-rock-etc... But if they are recorded with to much base or awkward settings in equalizer, those setting are stuck while in mp3. I converted those tracks back to cd format (wav) adjusted equalizer setting more moderate, then saved those tracks back to mp3. My distortions (am type sound, sounds like speaker is broke, etc...) disappeared. There may be other reasons for these distortions but my problem tracks are good now.
Thing is its not just music saved on my device, its also any video whether online or on my iconia. Everything I play has that annoying shivering noise. For speakers that are supposed to better than most tablets, if they are all like this then even though this is my favorite tablet I might have to go a different way if I were to return it.
My speakers don't have this issue, I would suggest exchanging it.
Thanks lord voldemort...lol, I will be doing that in the morning
I noticed a bit of rattle after turning up the Dolby bass settings too high.
After a little fiddling I found the "sweet spot" and haven't experienced it again.

so what's that sweet spot setting?
I've had the same problem with the speaker and gone to the service center to claim it. Acer service center said it was factory defect and repaired it. Although i still experience small problem with the sound, especially when i touch certain area near the speaker but so far...works just fine now.
So I went to Future shop to try out the Acer on display and its the same thing when the volume is turned up all the way so I just decided to keep mine.

i tried doing this tonight with the demo model Costco had on display. unfortunately i couldn't even get past the lockscreen. i wanted to see how well Metallica's 'Load' MP3 (VBR) album would sound.
So I have this Note 3 which I like a lot. Big screen to watch series in the train, although after a while I got pretty fed up with the chord of the earphones, expecially when I had to get up, swiched to music and had to stuff my phone in some pocket.
So I looked around for some nice Bluetooth headphones and came across a nice deal on the Sennheiser MM 550-X. Just stating the model for any chance that someone is aware of some faults in this product.
Now, overall the sound quality is fine, which you would expect because of the apt-X thing which both devices support. But what really annoys me, is the following.
While listening to the native musicplayer, the music sort of studders. Not all the time, but like one or a few times per minute and then not at all for a few minutes. Some faults sound like pops, but some are real pauses for like half a second. Especially with those longer pauses I can distinctly hear that the music really 'pauses' and that it is not just the connection which fails while the music on my Note plays on.
So I suppose it has something to do with the apt-X coding. I already tried rebooting, killing background processes, switching off wifi and mobile data. I also tried different music players. Nothing seems to help.
The only time when I have almost no problems is when I'm at home, with te phone lying still on the desk.
I have a stock rom.
Does anyone have an idea how I can fix this?

That's difficult, because I don't have a phone which supports apt-X available.

Most phones these days support it.
Maybe a friend's?
Maybe the problem is something else entirely. You need to troubleshoot it.
I am just guessing, though. Never used bluetooth headsets myself.
