Ok, I searched and came up empty. With direct push, we now have the ability to have new calendar items pushed to us when we are out of the office. Is there anyway to receive a vibrating notification (like we do with email or sms messages), whenever a change occurs to our calendar?
So, let's say i use the phone for a a few days, make myself a bunch of reminders and calendar appointments. They all get dismissed, or sometimes postponed then i'll dismiss them.
When i sync the phone through activesync, outlook will pop up all the reminders that are new since the last sync! Is this just shoddy programing? Wouldn't it be simple enough to flag the dismissed reminder to sync to outlooks calendar in the dismissed state? But instead, it acts like it's new and overdue.
Now i heard there's a way to turn off reminders in outlook, but i need those as well. Is there a way to fix this?
nope. i have a wizard and that was happening to me. it was pissing me the hell off. i would close it and it would come back and i think they were multipying. i think what i did wrong was i had yahoo! go syncing my calender, then i had goosync syncing my calender in google, then i had activesync syncing my calender on my computer in outlook. so with all the syncing i think everything got duplicated a bunch of times. so what i did was write down all my dates and then i erased EVERYthing on the calender. then i added back the holidays and all my events that i wrote down. i disabled syncing from goosync and yahoo and it never happened again.
i know what your going through though. i wanted to break my computer during that ordeal. lol

It may be that you chose to synchronise not all of the Calendar items. And you chose for example not to synchronise, but move items in only one direction.
Check ActiveSync options for Calendar (main window, settings...).
It may give you a clue.
i have recently added an exchange account to my phone.
in sounds i have set received emails to nothing except for a noise.
and for my gmail account it doesn't nothing but make a sound, however for my outlook email it vibes and blinks the light as well
it is very annoying as I get a lot of outlook email, any ideas?

Just a long shot but...I think that the settings in sounds for emails are for all email accounts in general not just specific accounts unless you are using some type of software enhancement (pim manager, ring manager, etc)
That's very odd...
I get the same notification for new e-mail whether it's on my Outlook Exchange account or my Gmail account. There's only one "new e-mail" event in Notifications that I can see, so it's...odd...that you're getting different notifications based on account.
I have four Gmail accounts syncing and set to "As items arrive". But I fail to see any sort of option that let's me get a notification/vibration when items do arrive, like the Outlook one.
Can anyone tell me where this notification setting lives? Right now, if I get Gmail items arriving, I don't know until I unlock the phone and check if numbers have popped up on the tile.
Also, are they syncing by WiFi when the screen is off?
I'm not understanding. Since I use only gmail maybe you are teaching me something...
What does the phone do when it is off when a normal POP message is collected vs how an imap is collected vs how a exchange is collected?
How do those differ from gmail?
My gmail makes a noise, a short vibrate and then the tile indicates the number of unread.
Does outlook, exchange, pop, or imap act differently?

When I unlock my phone, the WiFi status icon animates and "reconnects". Leading me to believe that when my phone is locked, it isn't using WiFi to do any syncing. This worries me.
My Exchange Outlook makes noise, vibrates, and updates the tile. But my Gmail things only seem to be updating the tile - so I was hoping there was a setting somewhere I just overlooked...
You know what, perhaps the secondary accounts dont get the same notifications as the primary or something weird. Maybe commit to a hard reset, setup only the gmail and see how it acts...I know there is goofy stuff with the calendar that is shown as the main one...
Not sure. I think we will get far more interaction int he at&t forums on certain items but it feels unnatural to leave my precious...my precious! XDA
I have one Windows Live, and 3 Gmail accounts linked to my phone. All my accounts give me the same alert sound I chose in the "ringtones & sound" settings of the phone. All are set to receive as sent. Ive tested, and showed coworkers a few times, emails always seem to arrive with in 30 seconds of sending an email to one of my accounts.

My exchange (work), windows live, yahoo, and gmail accounts are all working in terms of getting the notification via sound and a number of unread messages on the tile.
What is weird is that when I check the lock screen, I see icons for any unread exchange, windows live and yahoo e-mail. I never see an icon for unread gmail on the lock screen, I have to swipe up and check the tiles.
Is this what everyone else is seeing? No big deal, but I would like to see an icon for unread gmail on the lock screen. Oh, I have the Samsung Focus.

I have gmail, WLive and Exchange and I get unread count on lock screen for all three of them on my Focus. I have the alert sound turned off so can't be sure about it.

Thanks for the feedback dhan911. I may delete my two gmail accounts from the Focus and set them up again.

I think WP7 only shows your first 3 email accounts on the lock screen, each in a different position along the bottom.
I have 4 email accounts syncing with my phone (in this order): Gmail, School mail (essentially Gmail), Work 1 email (Exchange), and Work 2 email (Exchange). I can see notifications on the lock screen from my Gmail, school mail, and my work 1 email, but not my work 2 email. I do receive notification sound and vibration for all, however.

Thanks bremic9188, I am seeing icons for three e-mail accounts on the lockscreen, but am getting notifications for all five accounts. Sounds like that just may be the deal.
Another thought. If you are setting it to "As Items Arrive", why not try setting it up as an OutLook Exchange account?
First, delete the previous Gmail Account.
Now, setup a new account, select 'Outlook'. Use your Gmail info. When it fails, enter Your Full Email Address as the User name. When it fails again, select 'advanced' and enter 'm.google.com' as the Server, then select 'show all settings'. Now select any prefered settings, such as turning off Contacts and Calendar if prefered so it only grabs email. Probably change the Account name to Gmail, etc. Now hit 'sign in' and you should be set. It will operate exactly like an Exchange Account.
Hi all,
I'm after some help please and I will try and explain everything as simple as possible; I have lived with this for several months however I've decided to try and find a solution for my issue I have, which is receiving duplicate calendar notifications for an event/appointment etc.
After searching the net for last few days I've not found a solution.
Basically my set up is as follows:
Up until a week ago I was running MM stock, no root on my S7 edge, with S Planner for my Gmail account and Nine - Outlook for Android (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ninefolders.hd3&hl=en) for my office 365 work account and now I'm running the Nougat Beta, no root, with the same Apps.
Some background info:
Before installing Nine I used the default email app for syncing my Office 365 work account, however it is very limited especially when using sub-folders and having rules created in Outlook on Windows App, I would receive an email on my PC and get an alert no problem however due to the default email app on Android not allowing notifications when emails are in a sub-folder it made me switch. Nine is expensive but worth the money to get notifications for sub-folders alone.
Therefore on to my problem:
Since using Nine if I set up an alert/appointment on my PC or using my phone when a notification comes up I get two notifications, one for default S Planner and one for Nine app, now I could simply disable the notification within Nine however the snooze function is far superior to S Planner and I would prefer to use that for work alerts etc.
For instance S Planner only allows snooze for a default period (I believe it is 5 or 10 mins) with no option to change this, so I can keep snoozing each time if I like, Nine however allows you to define a snooze period from 5 mins to 2 hours therefore I use Nine's snooze functionality especially as with work things are always changing therefore flexibility is better.
You may be thinking why not just use Nine and put up with the duplicate notifications, well I have for several months but now I'm setting a lot more alerts/appointments and it's now becoming a nuisance!
Ideally I want to be able to use S Planner as my default calendar app to view both my Gmail calendar and work calendar but have S Planner to alert me only for personal alerts and carry on using Nine to alert me for work related alerts, maybe I'm asking for too much but to me it seems quite simple.
Over the last couple of days I've tried a few things:
Disabled notifications within S Planner, installed the Google Calendar app and enabled notifications in there and then I enabled my work calendar in the Google Calendar app, however it does the same as with S Planner I'm still getting duplicate notifications, now just with Google Calendar and Nine! :crying:
It appears S Planner and Google Calendar app syncs between the two.
I can disable my work calendar in the Google Calendar app but it turns it off in S Planner therefore when I open my default calendar app (S Planner) I only now see personal information.
The Google Calendar app also has limited functionality with the snooze, I have tested this and it's very similar to S Planner, there are no options to change the default snooze or pop up when the alert appears.
Maybe I'm over thinking this and someone will hopefully point out something I haven't thought about, which I would be very grateful if someone can because it's driving me crazy!! Maybe there is a calendar app out there that allows you to view all your calendars but select individual calendar alerts, which is what I'm mainly after.
Thanks in advance and I hope this was comprehensible :good:
