I am trying to change my exchange server in my data sync settings on my htc hero. However I can't seem to edit anything except my password. All the settings are grayed out. Can anybody help me?
After you enter your password, choose "manual settings" and this should give you your greyed out options

Hi,
someone hacked my gmail account and changed the password + the recovery email. so i cannot change my password from my desktop. my mt3g was automatically updated with the password and it wants the new password.... is there any way i can change my password from my mt3g.....
PLEASE - i need help cause my credit card number is on there.
if I was you I would try to work with google to regain access to your gmail account. I would also call the credit card company and put a hold on the account until you get this all squared away
Other than that I have no idea how to hack the lost password.
You could boot your phone into recovery and reflash a rom. Then setup a new gmail and password until this all gets squared away.

why would you reflash your rom? Just go into the settings menu and do a factory reset, then itll run you through the gmail sign in prompt

LOL yeah
Sometimes the thread starter would be better off without some noob suggesting a stupid solution!
Anyway's i dont think the one who started this thread is so stupid he doesnt know he can make a new google account, and also sure its far from the answer he's looking for.
Dont know the mt3g but none of the rom's i tryed had the posibility to change the password as far as i noticed. And anyway if any of them had this feature you should expect that it would prompt you for the current password before you would be able to change as a security.
Good luck getting your g-account back!

Don't even need to do that. Just go to Application Management, choose Google Apps and delete the data and the cache. Then launch gmail, and it will ask you to set up an account.
You keep all your other data this way.
I just got a new my toch slide unable to login too many pattern attempst phone is asking for email adress to login and password. Can some one help
All you need is to re-enter your Gmail email and password.
If you says your gmail username/password is wrong, a master reset needs to be done.
Esp if you verify it works on a computer.
Yeah you probably will have to do a reset. Don't forget that login info!
you can try this
Try this:
It was all about this "Two-Step Verification" security of google!
I tried everything... and I mean EVERYTHING (except flashing my XooM), but at the edge of giving up, I signed into my google account and issued an "Application Specific Password" for Xoom from my Google account.
I used my [email protected] with that Application Specific Password and it worked. (do not enter spaces in the password)
Let me know if it worked

Hi everybody. I just updated from the pre2.2 release the newest 2.3.340 OTA.
I was on Birdman's FlyX v1 ROM and had all 5 email accounts setup in the email app. I used the SBF 2.3.150 to get back to OTA stock, then let my phone download/install the new 2.3.340 OTA. I had all my apps and data after the update. I rerooted using z4root, and then installed ClockWork Recovery.
I wanted to get back to a custom ROM, so I downloaded Fission ROM Manager. Again I am still on stock 2.3.340 with all my data and info. I open Fission ROM Manager and download the lastest Fission Rom. I installed the ROM, but got stuck in bootloop. I had to wipe my cache and data to get it to boot.
Now I am in Fission ROM, and it runs just fine, but now none of my email accounts will sync. Was the email app in the FlyX ROM different than the one in the Fission ROM? I have 5 email accounts that I need to sync: hotmail, yahoo, ymail, gmail, live.
Only the gmail account will sync under the Gmail app. If I try to setup the same gmail account under the Email app, I keep getting the "Incorrect User name or Password". This is the same message for all the other accounts also.
I really need these email accounts up NOW! I have items for sale on Amazon.com and I rely on the email app to notify me of anything going on.
If anybody can help me out, I will be very thankful. I don't have enough time to search 100's of pages to see if someone else has asked this question already. I did do a few searches and did not find anything relevant to my problem.
I can not go back to my previous ROM cause it was the pre2.2 release and downgrading is not possible.
Please if you have any advice, email me: fire3element at gmail.com
Thank you. Have a Merry Christmas!
I am having the same problem after the latest update except I am not using a custom ROM.
My situation was a bit different as I had deleted some bloatware .apks and had to flash back to the stock 2.2 sbf. Once I did that I let the phone download and install the update which went fine, and then I also re-rooted with z4root.
Everything else works fine for me except none of my other emails will sync anymore. But if I do go in and manually try to sync them it works fine and will pull down the new emails. I also found that if I reboot my phone, it will pull down all my new mail for all my accounts once, then goes back to not working again.
I hope someone has an idea on what can be done!
Well I think you got a little further than me.
Let me clarify, none of my email accounts will even setup. I start to set one up, and get to the Username/Password fields. Once I enter User/Pass, the next screen asks what type of account it is. POP3, IMAP, Exchange. I have tried both POP3 and IMAP with every setting possible. After "checking incoming server settings" it always says "incorrect user name or password". I had them all working till after I setup the Fission ROM. Everything else works a.f.a.i.k.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Ok, since no one else is gonna help out, I will answer my own question.
Hotmail setup just fine.
Gmail can be added in the Email app once you set it up in the Gmail app.
Yahoo and Ymail both require a manual setup in order to work.
Yahoo Settings
Enter your Email and Password
Next Screen...
What Type of Account: IMAP
Next...
Incoming Server Settings:
Username: (your email)@yahoo.com
Password: do I really need to elaborate?
IMAP Server: android.imap.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 143
Security Type: None
Next...
Outgoing Server Settings:
SMTP Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 465
Security Type: SSL
Ymail Settings
Enter your Email and Password
Next Screen...
What Type of Account: IMAP
Next...
Incoming Server Settings:
Username: (your email)@ymail.com
Password: (gimme your password and I will tell you how to enter it: [email protected]) LoL
IMAP Server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 993
Security Type: SSL
Next...
Outgoing Server Settings:
SMTP Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 465
Security Type: SSL
Hope that helps anyone that couldn't get their email to work in a custom ROM.
Merry Christmas
First problem:
A few days ago i changed my gmail PW. Now the android features on my phone don't work. When I'm prompted to enter my PW, i get a network connection error message. I've tried 'force stopping' the gmail, and google apps, turning 3g on/off, without any luck. Toying with this issue has been testing my patience. I'm hoping to find a solution before i perform a hard reset.
Second problem:
I've had the phone for over a year running 2.2.X CM6.X. Since 2.3.X released, I wanted to manually update to gingerbread but i keep getting the 'error 7' code. I've looked around on the forums for solutions: reverting to an unmodified build followed by 'update.zip'
Specs:
Android version 2.2.1
Baseband 32.41.00.32U_5.08.00.04
Kernal Version 2.6.35.9-cyanogenmod
Mod Version: Cyanogenmod-6.1.1-N1
Build: FRG83D
The phone is rooted and bootloader is unlocked. I'm a noob with the android.
Paypal $10 per problem to the person who can get me out of this hole. I know your time is money so a little compensation is being offered. Reward yourself with a beer or latte.
Go to Settings > Accounts & Sync Settings
Tap on your Gmail account
You will see a 'Remove Account' button - Hit that
Your phone should now have no account associated with it
Do a reboot (not really necessary though)
Back in the Accounts & Sync Settings, Add a gmail account by hitting 'Add account' button
That should take care of Problem #1
Problem #2:
Get the zip from the OTA here
Boot into recovery and do a Nandroid backup
Wipe Data + everything
Wipe again
Flash the OTA ZIP you downloaded
Reboot into phone
Once rebooted, setup your Google account again
You should be back in business

Thanks for the reply chetanthaker.
1. I don't have gmail as a separate item under sync. i use the default email client for both yahoo/gmail. When i try to remove my gmail account, it says i can only get rid of it by restoring to factory default.
2. I'm not sure where the issue is but even after i did a hard reset i can't login with my google account (the one i changed my PW to) nor the new account i made to verify if the issue is with my phone or accounts. Let's say i manage to update the to Gingerbread, won't i still have the same issue logging into my G account?
1. If you say you do not have a separate Gmail account on the list, that means your phone is not really connected to Google (in it's real sense) - So forcibly closing Gmail and the other Gapps won't really have any effect. (I'm assuming when you have a data connection, your EDGE/3G/WIFI icons do not really turn green from the regular white.
When you first configure your phone, you should ideally configure your gmail account first (so you get access to Market and the other stuff as well). You can then disable Sync on Gmail and add 2 accounts in the default mail app to send/recv email.
Do a Nandroid and get rid of all the accounts (may do a factory reset)
Start with adding a google account and you should be set.
2. You will not have that problem unless you Wipe your data via recovery. All that will happen is you will start fresh with adding your primary Google account

so far i've tried the following (without success):
- removing all accounts from sync list (except the main google account which i can't remove unless i do a factory restor).
- toggle 3g/2g
- logging in with a new google account
- attempt to login via Wi-fi without SD card and/or sim card
- trying old passwords (i thought i might have been entering the wrong PW, but i verified by logging into my gmail account; i'm sane)
- holding my breath and crossing my fingers
- performing a wipe of the phone memory (still can't login with either new or old google account).
Logging into youtube (linked google account) won't work b/c im in china. Initially i thought the hiccup would be due to china's great wall, but i've used this phone here for 8 months and changed my google PW successfully in within. I'm truly at a loss.
I'm still getting emails via default email program (yahoo/gmail accounts).
The internet works
Whatsapp works
And most importantly angry birds still works.
Maybe if i can find a way to update to Gingerbread, this issue will miraculously disappear.
Hi.
Did you try removing the Email app from the Device Administrators?
Maybe that's the reason why you are unable to un-link your Gmail account
Settings > Location and Security > Device Administrators
Uncheck the Email app (screenshot) and try

i don't have the option for my email under device admin list :/
the really odd thing is, i can't log in to my TF101 either...even after restoring back to factory settings. I'm convinced its either Google or China that's punishing me.
Well, with you wanting to update, are you wanting to update to a stock Gingerbread version, or to CyanogenMod's Gingerbread version?
If it is the latter, just go download the latest version 7.1.0. The best way to upgrade is to backup all your apps and app data with an app like Titanium Backup. Then perform a nandroid backup (basically a snapshot of your current system) and wipe the /system partition and perform a Factory Reset/Data Wipe. Then install CM7 and the latest gapps (found from http://goo-inside.me/gapps) and reboot the phone. Once you are in, try to add your google account back to the phone (hopefully it works with a completely blank slate). Then connect to the market and get Titanium Backup back and restore all your apps and app data.
I'm not sure if it's a default security feature from google, but 24 hours after i changed my password and it let me login to my account again...However i'm having issues logging into Gtalk.
Thanks for all your help. Now let's see if i can get it running Gingerbread!
I'm running Omega ROM v16, and in Settings, Security, Encrypt Device, all but the Password option is grayed out and disabled. It says: Turned off by administrator, encryption policy or credentials storage. Under device administrators, there are 3 apps, but none of them are checked. Clear Credentials is grayed out too (I think because I don't have any non-system certificates). I don't have any VPN set up.
Any ideas?
Possible theories:
Hola - which uses VPN to work because Root mode doesn't work for some reason
SEAndroid is permissive, due to ROM settings
Help, please?
