Hi,
someone hacked my gmail account and changed the password + the recovery email. so i cannot change my password from my desktop. my mt3g was automatically updated with the password and it wants the new password.... is there any way i can change my password from my mt3g.....
PLEASE - i need help cause my credit card number is on there.
if I was you I would try to work with google to regain access to your gmail account. I would also call the credit card company and put a hold on the account until you get this all squared away
Other than that I have no idea how to hack the lost password.
You could boot your phone into recovery and reflash a rom. Then setup a new gmail and password until this all gets squared away.

why would you reflash your rom? Just go into the settings menu and do a factory reset, then itll run you through the gmail sign in prompt

LOL yeah
Sometimes the thread starter would be better off without some noob suggesting a stupid solution!
Anyway's i dont think the one who started this thread is so stupid he doesnt know he can make a new google account, and also sure its far from the answer he's looking for.
Dont know the mt3g but none of the rom's i tryed had the posibility to change the password as far as i noticed. And anyway if any of them had this feature you should expect that it would prompt you for the current password before you would be able to change as a security.
Good luck getting your g-account back!

Don't even need to do that. Just go to Application Management, choose Google Apps and delete the data and the cache. Then launch gmail, and it will ask you to set up an account.
You keep all your other data this way.

Hello all,
I'm posting this here because I'm a noob and don't have the required 10 posts to post this in the Dev section. I just flashed my G2 with the InsertCoin_Vision Sense2.1 + 3.0 (v1.5) ROM and am having a problem logging into my google account to sync it. For the language I selected English (UK) because there was no option for US, and after trying numerous times to sync my google account I get a message saying " sorry your username and password do not match. Please try again. To recover your account information go to google.co.uk/accounts on your computer." I am positive I have the correct username and password, as I am able to log into the account using the phone's and my PC's browsers. I tried to sync a different gmail account and I'm having the same problem. The more I think about it, this really sounds like an issue with the wrong language selection and the phone subsequently trying to contact a UK server rather than US. I also verified on my wife's G2 she has the phone set to English (US) which for some strange reason is not an option on my phone I tried flashing the radio lib matcher and after rebooting the problem persists. ow can I add the option for the proper English (US) language selection? I would greatly appreciate some help on getting this to work. Since I can't post in the proper thread, if you see this siulmagic thanks for your hard work on this ROM.
I did some more research online and found the morelcale2 app and was able to add the English(US) language and I was able to create a new google account however I'm still not able to sync my 2 other google accounts.
Try reflashing or restoring your nandroid and reflashing. Also this wouldn't belong in the development area and would be moved here probably. It could also be a problem with the rom... head over to off topic, get your post count up, and ask around on the thread for your rom.

Thanks deliriousDroid, I assume re-flashing the ROM will overwrite the settings I have set up so far? Will my apps be gone to? I'm really hoping I won't have to re-flash since I spent a good amount of time setting the phone up. Any InsertCoin ROM user having this problem or have any input.

Yes when you reflash all your settings will be erased. You can backup your apps with their data with Titanium Backup and easily restore them later on.

Problem Solved!
I figured I'd post the solution to my problem for anyone else who may experience it at some point. The reason I could not sign into my 2 previously existing accounts but could create a new google account and sign in with no trouble was because I had the google authenticator enabled on my account, having previously installed the app on the phone when I had the stock ROM installed. I had to reinstall the google authenticator app and add a new phone under my account settings on my PC. I then created a new verification code, entered it on the app on my phone and all was well.
Just got phone from a friend and can't get his gmail account off the phone can any one help?
I already tried the factory reset
Are you sure u did a factory reset?
The normal way to do this would be to go into settings/accounts&sync => you will get a list of accounts being synced with the phone
then click on the google account u want to remove
this will open up another screen with options related to that account...At the bottom right, there will be a button to remove the account....and you are done!
this works on android 2.3.5, and should be similar on earlier builds too
A bit of assumption going on here :}
What rom is on the phone?
A factory reset and reformat of the sd card should normaly do the trick on win mo, and as said above its easy with droid roms

Just add another gmail account.. once you do that you will have the option to delete your friends account. Having multiple accounts usually gives you the opportunity to delete the one you don't want.

Yep and i tried removing the account but it says it is in use with another application and cant be deleted
OK here is the solution for this, this works I just tried it on my phone. OK you will need a file explorer with root access (root explorer is excellent) open root explorer find the DATA folder then SYSTEM folder, I believe the 3rd file is ACCOUNTS delete it then reboot. That's it. So it look like this /data/system

First problem:
A few days ago i changed my gmail PW. Now the android features on my phone don't work. When I'm prompted to enter my PW, i get a network connection error message. I've tried 'force stopping' the gmail, and google apps, turning 3g on/off, without any luck. Toying with this issue has been testing my patience. I'm hoping to find a solution before i perform a hard reset.
Second problem:
I've had the phone for over a year running 2.2.X CM6.X. Since 2.3.X released, I wanted to manually update to gingerbread but i keep getting the 'error 7' code. I've looked around on the forums for solutions: reverting to an unmodified build followed by 'update.zip'
Specs:
Android version 2.2.1
Baseband 32.41.00.32U_5.08.00.04
Kernal Version 2.6.35.9-cyanogenmod
Mod Version: Cyanogenmod-6.1.1-N1
Build: FRG83D
The phone is rooted and bootloader is unlocked. I'm a noob with the android.
Paypal $10 per problem to the person who can get me out of this hole. I know your time is money so a little compensation is being offered. Reward yourself with a beer or latte.
Go to Settings > Accounts & Sync Settings
Tap on your Gmail account
You will see a 'Remove Account' button - Hit that
Your phone should now have no account associated with it
Do a reboot (not really necessary though)
Back in the Accounts & Sync Settings, Add a gmail account by hitting 'Add account' button
That should take care of Problem #1
Problem #2:
Get the zip from the OTA here
Boot into recovery and do a Nandroid backup
Wipe Data + everything
Wipe again
Flash the OTA ZIP you downloaded
Reboot into phone
Once rebooted, setup your Google account again
You should be back in business

Thanks for the reply chetanthaker.
1. I don't have gmail as a separate item under sync. i use the default email client for both yahoo/gmail. When i try to remove my gmail account, it says i can only get rid of it by restoring to factory default.
2. I'm not sure where the issue is but even after i did a hard reset i can't login with my google account (the one i changed my PW to) nor the new account i made to verify if the issue is with my phone or accounts. Let's say i manage to update the to Gingerbread, won't i still have the same issue logging into my G account?
1. If you say you do not have a separate Gmail account on the list, that means your phone is not really connected to Google (in it's real sense) - So forcibly closing Gmail and the other Gapps won't really have any effect. (I'm assuming when you have a data connection, your EDGE/3G/WIFI icons do not really turn green from the regular white.
When you first configure your phone, you should ideally configure your gmail account first (so you get access to Market and the other stuff as well). You can then disable Sync on Gmail and add 2 accounts in the default mail app to send/recv email.
Do a Nandroid and get rid of all the accounts (may do a factory reset)
Start with adding a google account and you should be set.
2. You will not have that problem unless you Wipe your data via recovery. All that will happen is you will start fresh with adding your primary Google account

so far i've tried the following (without success):
- removing all accounts from sync list (except the main google account which i can't remove unless i do a factory restor).
- toggle 3g/2g
- logging in with a new google account
- attempt to login via Wi-fi without SD card and/or sim card
- trying old passwords (i thought i might have been entering the wrong PW, but i verified by logging into my gmail account; i'm sane)
- holding my breath and crossing my fingers
- performing a wipe of the phone memory (still can't login with either new or old google account).
Logging into youtube (linked google account) won't work b/c im in china. Initially i thought the hiccup would be due to china's great wall, but i've used this phone here for 8 months and changed my google PW successfully in within. I'm truly at a loss.
I'm still getting emails via default email program (yahoo/gmail accounts).
The internet works
Whatsapp works
And most importantly angry birds still works.
Maybe if i can find a way to update to Gingerbread, this issue will miraculously disappear.
Hi.
Did you try removing the Email app from the Device Administrators?
Maybe that's the reason why you are unable to un-link your Gmail account
Settings > Location and Security > Device Administrators
Uncheck the Email app (screenshot) and try

i don't have the option for my email under device admin list :/
the really odd thing is, i can't log in to my TF101 either...even after restoring back to factory settings. I'm convinced its either Google or China that's punishing me.
Well, with you wanting to update, are you wanting to update to a stock Gingerbread version, or to CyanogenMod's Gingerbread version?
If it is the latter, just go download the latest version 7.1.0. The best way to upgrade is to backup all your apps and app data with an app like Titanium Backup. Then perform a nandroid backup (basically a snapshot of your current system) and wipe the /system partition and perform a Factory Reset/Data Wipe. Then install CM7 and the latest gapps (found from http://goo-inside.me/gapps) and reboot the phone. Once you are in, try to add your google account back to the phone (hopefully it works with a completely blank slate). Then connect to the market and get Titanium Backup back and restore all your apps and app data.
I'm not sure if it's a default security feature from google, but 24 hours after i changed my password and it let me login to my account again...However i'm having issues logging into Gtalk.
Thanks for all your help. Now let's see if i can get it running Gingerbread!
Is there anyway to setup a phone for a new user without logging into the market as yourself? Im actually giving my phone away to a smartphone illiterate relative, but I dont want to ask for their gmail login info to enable downloading from the market.
It seems if I login as myself, then the user cannot be removed. Anyway around this, anyother way to install apps without using the market?

Figured it out. For those with a similar Q in the future: use Root Explorer and go to /data/system/ find accounts.db and rename it to accounts.db.bak

So then what happens? The other person just signs into the phone with their Google account and all is set up?
Wipe your phone
Why not just wipe your phone? And yea if you rename that with a .bak at the end the other user should be able to just create one. Only thing, renaming that file to .bak does is make it to where the system doesn't see it and it also keeps a copy on phone incase you want to revert back to it. If your selling the phone, dont rename it, delete that file if you ask me
I agree with sinister, just wipe it and give it to them, show them how to log in and call it good
We're comin from a pure power source.
I will suggest a factory reset...

Hello,
I originally had CM 7 loaded on my Nook Color, but after a while, it got real sluggish and sometimes crashed, so I had not been using it for a year or two. But recently I decided to give it another try and update it to CM 10.2..1. But when I got to the login screen, it kept on saying that my email/password is invalid. Due to the time that has elapsed, I have forgotten the password. I thought that it was the same password as the one used for my email address, but that was not the case. It's just been too long since I've used the NC, and forgot the password. I don't see any "Forgot Password" or "Password Reset" option. And creating a new account is definitely not an option, because I have purchased apps under the previous account, so I need to retrieve my password. Can someone help this newbie get my password back so I can login back to my old account? Thanks in advance for your help!

Password for what? Google Play Store? It must be if you purchased apps with it. If so just go to Google on your desktop and try to log in. It has a forgot password link.
If it is the password for your screen saver, just boot to CWM and factory reset.

Hi Leapinlar, thanks for your quick reply. I'm sorry, I left out the fact that I have CM loaded on SD card, not the NC internal memory. I'm not familiar with CWM (I assume that has to do with loading CM into internal memory? Sorry, I'm a newbie). I meant the password that you are asked to enter when you power up the Nook Color. It would be virtually the first prompt after turning on the Nook. (I actually encountered this while booting up the SD card for the first time after loading CM on it. I was asked for the email address/ password and also the router's password.) So the question remains: how to retrieve my login password if CM is loaded on my SD card and not internal memory? Thanks again in advance for your help, Leapinlar!
Is this asking you for your CM account password after your first boot from an install? If so there should be a "Skip" text in the lower right. Hit that.

Yes, bowguy, that is the screen that I am having problems with. There is a "Skip" option, but I still need to retrieve my CM account password.
I realized from Leapinlar's reply that there are possibly 2 separate accounts/passwords: (1) the CM account/password, and (2) the Google Play Store account/password, is that correct? If that is the case, then I need to retrieve both, unless they are the same.
I have installed CM from 9.0 to 11 and never had an CM account password. Skip any references to a CM account. You do need two items to get started. First is your WiFi password to connect to the internet. This is how you connect to the internet with your computer. I hope you have that. Then you need to add your google account to your tablet using your gmail name and password. This gets you to the play store.
