just went into market and was greeted with a new feature ... a scrolling feature window at the top linking to sports etc ... anyone else seen this, it wasn't there on mine this morning ...
Also seems to exist in each section as you browse.
I don't.
Orange - UK
Appeared in my market, although only in the cats and not the main page.
Yeh cool i got it too Orange UK.
Mine has been like that ever since the new market came out in 1.6
same here its old...
No update for me on voda uk. Still the old look. I believe americans got it with 1.6 update but for some reason it didn't get filtered down to other countries.
I got the new look.
Looks cool!
Just checked mine and I got it
o2 - UK
Just got it today, too.
On Globe Telecom in the Philippines. I don't use 3G at all, though. Just wifi so I guess it's not a carrier thing
Yeah i saw this on older screenshots as well and thought google had removed it but it's now in my marketplace as well
I wasn't sure if it was new I was fairly certain it was but not 100% ...
got it too.
Vodafone CZ
Finally got mine updated. Vodafone UK
Seems like there isn't much use to those tiles, mostly acts like advetisement.
Nothing here.. T-Mobile UK
TBH I'm glad they aren't there.. it just wastes screen space.
arrived on mine. , downloaded an update for an app and it seemed to take longer than usual. was no change to the market before i downloaded (I think) and no change immediately afterwards, but when I had a quick browse later in the day, there it was. I have had no OTA updates (not since I rooted when I had 1.1) and have been running the latest Cyanaogen since it came out, so not sure when/how this change was done.

Unfortunately it doesn't directly bring you to the advertised app.
At least it didn't the first and only time I tried.

This morning I just recived the 1.5 update, I am in the uk and am in the durham county Region , after 20 mins of exploring I think it is great. Has any else recived this update in the uk. Ps I am using the onscreenbord for this.post
I'm in Cambridge UK.
Woke up this morning to find update available. Loaded it while i took a shower.
Love it to bits. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant! Think i will now move over to my G1 permanently instead of my Touch HD. Might even sell the HD and pocket some money too...wow, money in pocket, G1 update..could this be heaven?
The on screen keyboard is what needed the most. I like the new browser icon too, never did like the sort of folder paper thingy before.
Only one minor thing i need now, Bluetooth file send and receive. No big deal though.
A lot of people in the UK have got OS 1.5 (Cupcake) now..
I got my update last night!...

lol, just as i was about to do a manual update, the ota message popped up.
Only problem is there's still stuff missing, like Latitude... again! Oh well, guess we'll wait until next century for the UK to catch up, lol.

Just out of curiosity where any of your phones rooted when you received the notification of the OTA update? I cant seem to find a straight answer on if you can get the update OTA on a rooted phone or not. Currently my phone is rooted however I do want to download 1.5 when its rolled out in the US.
According to the About Phone section in the settings menu im running "kila-user 1.1 PLAT-RC33 126986
ota-rel-key,release-key"
Thanks
butlerguy, if i were you, i would better get JesusFreke's build. The OTA will not give root options as it is based upon the ADP1.5 basic build.
You may even loose root altogether, then need to downgrade to do the process again....
Well im not really too concerned with losing root at the moment. I havent found many personal uses for root yet other then using the openoverclocker app to set the clock speed of the processor which just makes the phone run smoother. From what I understand 1.5 seems to address the laggy issues. Just really need to know if im gonna have to flash back to a tmobile build to be able to get the update or not.
I like the upgrades. I don't like the interface at all. Too cld and boring for me. I wouldn't use the on-screen keyboard either (but it would be used by other android phones)..
So yes I will receive the update OTA with a rooted phone? Is what I'm getting out of this?

No. You wont be able to install it, believe me, i've tried.
I'm JF, RC9, FIRMWARE 1.1, RADIO,1.22.14.11
So if you are rooted apart from rc7, then you wont be able to.
If i'm right in saying that? Anyone?
Hi, I got the following SMS this morning from T-Mobile, "You'll soon receive the download to update your T-Mobile HD2. It's free & there's no charge for the download, all you need to do is accept. T-Mobile".
Now, this dont sound right. Firmware files are normally huge and I have never had a message like this before. I have the 1.66 stock ROM and not the 1.72 T-Mobile one which is pants.
Has anyone else had this message or the updates and if so what are the updates.
Thanks
John
I got a text from them when they released the 1.72. It wasnt worded like that though....... and I havent had a message like that from them recently.
Maybe they're going to send you Android to run on your HD2
Or maybe not............

Wow that would be sooooooo kewl.
I got the exact same message about two weeks ago, I'm still waiting to see what official crap they throw out if anything!
never had anything of that sort... ever. only found out about the new ROM on XDA.
Same message received today still no further details
yes i have the text its downloaded tk my handset and keeps asking me to install, not untill i know whats in it!
Install what?? Is it a link to something or did they actually send you a file.........
Just received the same text. Have noticed connection issues over the past few days, this update maybe something to do with this?? It's not going to be a rom update as that would be huge and would obviously wipe the phone on install - something that T-mob cannot legally force on you surely?
PS anyone get this message running a stock t-mobile rom. Mine's Stock HTC 1.66 - they might be on to us defectors
Just noticed on HTC rss feed that O2 had a UTMS900 update for HD2, this may be what we are getting.
I'm so glad you wrote this post OP! I was going to ask about that text, which I also received this morning, over on the T-Mobile forum but my forum user details are not what I thought they were so couldn't log in.
Like a few of you have written here, I'm not installing it until I know what it is. I'm afraid of all my phone content and contacts being wiped.
I also received a text about a ROM update just like the first respondent to this thread but I didn't want to ruin what is already a working phone!
count me in too.
Same message as the OP. Uk Tmob
Thanks guys for all the feedback. I am defy NOT installing anything on my phone until I know exactly what it is and what it does.

anyone got any more news on this? Have posted a message on the t-mobile forum but won't hold my breath as they will probably come back and say what is a mobile phone
I still havent got this bloody message......... I feel kinda left out now.....
Received today:

I'm on Orange and am waiting until it's officially released Via Kies. Only reason being, that I phoned them when I discovered the GPS problems and told them if it wasn't fixed in the firmware update, I'd be asking for a different phone.
Point being, just be sure you aren't going to void your warranty using the Reg hack.

Im on orange UK and updated via the reg hack without any issues apart from no longer being able to send MMS even after setting up correct APN...

Was your handset debranded and/or unlocked at the point of updating?
FYI
Spoke to the Orange Customer Service team today. He confirmed that Froyo should see a full release over Kies by the second week of December.
Even though it won;t fix my GPS issues, at least I'll be able to copy and pasts from Emails!

Thanks for that info logicalstep- Shall believe it when we get it though....
haha yeah I know what you mean.
My phones also being replaced tomorrow to see if I can get one with a working GPS. I have told them that I'm prepared to go through their whole stock until I find one that works
Either that or give me a white one, that way I know it's a more recent manufacture and will hopefully have the GPS fixed.
Wish me luck.
Logicalstep
Good Luck!
Hate to boast but my GPS works really well ...
Really?
What's the longest journey you have been on? and have you deviated from the set course?
This is when I see it at it's worst.
Just for you information as well, it seems a bit strange to me. The replacement phone they have sent it a cross between Eclair and Froyo. It says 2.1 update in the software screen, but it has a GPS button and new task manager? Bit stange
It also comes with more Orange Crapware. And here's a slightly interesting thing. On my first SGS, I noticed it had a kind of springy sound inside, if you gave it a light flick it would have the very slight reverberation, as if there was a spring inside that was attached only at one end. The new one doesn't have any such sound / feeling to it.
I wonder if there is a connection to the GPS being crap on the first device?
I'll do a proper test of the next few days and report back.

My SGS firmware/software exactly as yours is-only got it 6 weeks ago.
Havent been any vast distance on gps but mucked up with it seeing how fast it picks up satellites, trying it out on localish roads and turning off bypasses for example the exit before it tells me too (cos I know the roads) it generally has worked out the route by the time Im on the roundabout at the top of the slip road. Bearing in mind Im in a Transit usually so not moving that fast to start with... Does all I need, and well. Apps like Layar work well too.
Hopefully for you this version sorts out the hassle with GPS.
I did a track back from Footie tonight, only 5 miles, but it seemed good!
No jumping about, although I did have the updates set slow-ish. Will try with Google navigation on Friday, have an hours drive to do.

I'm curious because I'd like to flash mine, but don't think we can go back to our build (P1000MUGJJ7, wtf i know).

As far as I know at this point there are no Bell roms floating around but if you feel comfortable flashing, read the first few pages of the ATT flash thread, get comfortable with Odin, it was a bit of a different flashing experience for me coming from HTC phones, give it a day or two to make sure everything is fine with the hardware (I took my first tab back to Futureshop for exchange 24 hours later as it had/developed a burnt pixel right in the middle of the screen) and then flash away.
The Bell rom doesn't really offer anything that the Euro rom doesn't, whereas the Euro rom enables the phone features on your Tab, the speakerphone is excellent btw.
Quick question re your unmodified Tab, when you launch Swype does it have a Voice button on the keyboard, I cannot remember if it did or if I'm confusing it with the Swype kb on my Nexus, which does.
Thanks. I wanted to flash so I can get the arabic words to show properly, hoping we'd get an official firmware first. I bought mine from Bell.
In regards to Swype, there is a Voice/Mic button, but for some reason it's greyed out now, can't use it. Even though voice search works perfectly everywhere else.
What bell apps would you like to keep?
I see no reason to keep bell apps on the tab anyway - I have no PVR
So why would you want to flash it back?
Self Serve app is pretty cool app, but I think it downloaded the APK heh, but the reason is i'm just worried in case I need a working ROM to fallback to.
Care to point me to that Bell Self Serve APK? I flashed mine to Euro before I even tried that application.
Some version of the Bell firmware will show up on samfirmwares.com before long, once it gets out to the service centers which are usually their source for firmware binaries.
For instance, it was about ten days after the Bell Vibrant launched before any factory firmware showed up (and it was older, pre-release firmware), but the original "JG9" found on Bell units at launch day has never showed up (current JH2 is there though).
You can always fall back to the AT&T firmware, which is available just to get you up and running pretty close to stock again, but of course that might cause problems if you want to reflash it before sending it in for warranty.
Something else to keep in mind (but try not to abuse please) is the 30 day DOA period from Bell kind of covers your ass if you totally screw something up and brick it for real. Provided they have a replacement in stock.
Thanks for the info Croak. That was pretty helpful.
About the Self Serve app, I realized there was a link initially that took me to the market to download the app, http://www.appbrain.com/app/bell-self-serve/com.bellmo.selfserve, I'm not sure if this shows up for you. I'm still dabbling in adb, so I'm not sure how to get the apk off the device just yet :/
Note: The self serve app only works on 3G, not wifi. That would explain how it knows to my account info automatically.
I forgot ask something, in regards to the Market, will regional apps still show after flashing non-north american firmware? For example, the TD Canada Trust bank app. I remember I had issues with the MIUI on my N1 because it was a Chinese ROM. Eventually it was fixed though.

Hi xoltrix2000.
I also have the Bell SGT, but have no phone option what so ever :-(. Have the hardware appearently, but no way of using it. Are you able to use the phone option on your SGT? If so, how did you manage to get it?
Thanks for any info.
Since then I flashed the P1000JPJJ2 arabic firmware with no issues so far. It has the phone capabilities obviously just like any of the euro firmwares, tested it by using another phone line enabled sim card.
Thanks for your reply xoltrix2000. Good to know that it actually works. I'll have to read up a bit on the 'how to', get all the needed software and then try it myself.
I currently have a SGT with a custom JM6 and a modem which gives my full data and voice call capability. I posted instructions on this in the general area.

True. Its fast. And snappier. Battery seems to be doing better.
How about the touch sensitivity issue? Is it still there?

So far so good. def alot faster now.. even my connection went up..
Tablet bought in Germany but not used there, just got the 1.4 Gb MM update. (see you free space on internal memory before upgrading).
I have notice incredible speed after update but to be fair already there were alot of lag with the tablet (probably something I had installed ...). Apps now, start almost instant like it should on such specifications.
Can't say about battery yet but it seems the settings for saving went away and you could not activate saving other than at 5, 10 or 15 % battery.
A new setting on audio has appear DSEE HX, something that try to upgrade normal mp3 to HD sound quality. Activating this will deactivate ClearAudio+, dynamic normaliser ...) I didnt test it because I use flac uncompressed
Phone has change layout (subject to each person taste) and if you recorded an answer response on your answering machine you will lose it after upgrade (but you don't lose previous recorded messages)
I can confirm that wake up from power but mostly from keyboard (any key) is instant. After some time of inactivity it wakes slower but at practical interval to use (compared with before).
I love to set individual permissions since I have uninstall some apps because of "too generous" permission list.
Camera app: amazing UI upgrade. Where it was so cumbersome to use now is amazing easy to switch. Swipe up anywhere on the screen, can't comment on picture quality as I did;t test it.
I have also noticed less finger prints on the screen and less glare since the update! Amazing job SONY!
... just joking
Hi all,
Just updated my Z4 tablet (Generic Central Europe CE1) and as soon as I launched it for the first time, I encountered few issues. First of all, my SanDisk 128GB card initialized as corrupted. Gave it a try dismounting and mounting again a couple of times no luck and eventually ended up backing up the data on my netbook and reformatting it using the tablet running the Marshmallow. So far so good. Second and the most important of all, I experienced Google Play Store FCs and it still persists. Have been playing with it all day long trying almost everything: clearing both Google Play Services and Google Play Store as well as Google Framework cache, data and uninstalling all their updates rebooting the machine after each step still no luck. Removed my Google account and relogged again, didn't work. Also tried installing the latest version for both the Store and the Services still nothing. I literally have no clue now and am left with no idea at all what is going on?! I recall similar issue with my Z1 the other day but simply updating the Google Services solved the whole drama in an instant. I would be grateful if anyone could help me out with this neverending story.
Thanks in advance,
Jack

Anyone facing bugs in 6.0 on the tablet? My exchange pushmail was working in 5.0.2 but after 6.0, it doesn't connect to the server anymore. deleting and recreating and even nine mail or mailwise couldn't connect to the server. I initially thought it was the server that didn't support 6.0 so i borrowed another brand phone with 6.0 to test and it worked so it's due to Sony's version of the 6.0..

Yes, I faced a bug with my L2TP/PSK VPN-connection. This wouldn't work on 5.0.2 and it didn't work on 6.0 either. It's apparently a known issue on Xperia's, even the Z5 has it on MM.
Luckily, I was able to fix it by selecting Advanced Settings > Backward compatible mode: Enabled.
