Unlock For Root?

Is it possible to Unlock a Rooted G1 and if so, how? I have a rooted G1 and I want to Unlock it and sell it to one of my friends so that I could buy the iPhone 3G. Also, does anybody know how much G1's go for? I don't want to rip him off but I don't want to get ripped back. I'm thinking $300-$400. The current G1 has a few scratches on it from being dropped but runs PERFECTLY and is all up-to-date... it even has CyanogenMOD 4.1.11.1 soo? Thanks...

i say sell it for double so that way when you buy the iphone, and regret selling your G1 you can have enough money to buy another G1... just my 2 pennies

Good idea... but I have to find out how to Unlock because he's on Sprint. And why would I regret selling the G1?

There's no way you could do that. Sprint doesn't use sim cards. But hey sell it to him for $763,987.99.

to unlock, call t-mobile if you have a plan through them. here's a better question, why wouldn't you regret selling your G1

It's pointless to waste your time or money unlocking it because sprint doesn't use sims and they are CDMA where the G1 HAS TO HAVE a sim and is GSM. You prolly will prefer a iphone though it is less work.

just sell your g1 on ebay for like 300 and get a refurb 3g 16gb from att for 99, just gotta get a 2yr contract (maybe u have a family member who needs a cell plan or a good friend/gf. except if they ship it with 3.1 firmware your ****ed cuz it cant be unlocked for another carrier unless you get one of those special sim cards on ebay.

Why not check ebay and see how much they're selling for??

I just paid £235 for my 2nd hand hd in v good condition tho!! if yours is in good condition i suggest you aim for the same amount lol

Thats wot they buy them for not sell them, there gunna sell it on for atleast double.... sites like that rely on stupid ppl selling there device for half what its worth so they can sell it off at a profit lol

SO i went to T-mobile yesterday to check my bill and saw the HD2 and couldn't resist so i bought it... Phone is cool, huge screen, hard buttons, soooo nice.......but i hate it lol. I can not stand windows mobile. Phone was giving me a headache. I tried to force myself to like it but couldn't so i put it on craigslist for $500 because it's sold out in my city. But i'll most likely try to return it tomorrow if I can. I mean I have all the accessories but none of the baggies for them so I'll call first

Save your sorrys and go sit in the corner and think about what you did! Lol jkjk the phone is madd sexy but I just told one of my friends to buy it so i could play with it. Never would I ever dare resort to WM again.

i bought my nexus at full price and waited to use my upgrade to get the hd2. i hate winmo too but i knew that wp7s would be ported to it, so for now my gf has it until they release the port http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/28/htc-hd2-gets-early-windows-phone-7-os-port-could-be-released-be/
and i agree the hd2 is sexy

I got it with the payment plans so what exactly are they refunding? The down-payment I made? and are there fees?

They will probably just refund whatever you put down. I am not sure if they will charge you a restocking fee, we all know HTC/Google charges a fee ($45) if the Nexus was opened and then returned.

tsk tsk shame on you!! naw im just kidding i find myself going to the tmobile store to play with it every few days ahah..well not play since windows mobile is a headache but just to hold it lol..it is really really sexy..
i kind of want to buy it just so i can try windows mobile 7..hopefully they get that android port going, but by that time ill have the Evo 4g so im good Im so stoked on that thing but i do love my nexus one its really nice looking

No I put 40 dollars down on the phone and was gonna pay 25 a month but now i Just want a refund. Am I able to do that? The only thing I'm missing is the baggies for the accessories

Yeah definitely, you got 14 days for an exchange or refund. Prolly will have to pay the restocking fee though, its like $10-$20 no more than $20 for sure

Thinking bout keeping just for Windows 7 hmmmmm

i wanna give it a try but im not gunna give up my nexus. lol..i really love this phone. if i were you i would try and return it or sell it and save the money so when a win7 phone comes out then you can get it but it is tempting knowing the hd2 could get it first.

I got the HTC Touch Pro 2 when it came out because I loved the Tilt, and the Fuze.
But, I hate Windows Mobile. Hate it, hate it, hate it.
They have some good chiefs over there, but they just can't make it a good phone.
If there was a way to get Android ported 100% to it; I'd ditch my N1 and get it right now. But they are having issues with the port.
EDIT: Also; WinMobile 7 is going to suck. I've heard that it is going to be locked down like the iPhone... So, what a wonderful failure that will be.

[Q] A Question for Sprint Customers

How much off a new phone do they give you for giving them a Vibrant?
I know it was like $90 for an HTC Aria last time I checked, so I'm guessing it should be more than that for a Vibrant.

The carriers' trade in programs are a rip off.. If you want to sell your Vibrant, sell it via Ebay or Craigslist.
