the hspl guide says:
4) Uninstallation
Only way to remove the HSPL is to flash an original SPL from SD card.
- Take any "RUU_signed.nbh" from a ship ROM and copy it to SD card.
- Rename it to "leoimg.nbh"
- Reset the device while pressing the volume down button.
if an officialrom is flashed using the SDcard method hspl is gone.
check bootloader if the HSPL is still there. that is what i said above.

I know that, I'm just replying to the post above it saying flashing a stock ROM gets rid of HSPL. I do all my updating via WMDC, SD card method doesn't work for me

I tried using the hspl back again but it says it only works if the bootloader screen says it is 1.42. the thing now is that the bootloader says 1.66 and thus the hspl that is posted in this forum is not working. any help ??
thanks.

You must use a vodafone stock ROM then - the 1.66 HTC ROM flashes the stock SPL
which does not fit your CID, therefore you get the triangle.
thx for replying.
I had stock rom 1.48 before and then i installed HSPL so that i can install Stock 1.66 wwe rom into my hd2. It was a successful action. Rom installed and worked correctly without any problem.
But problem arise when I tried to uninstall the HSPL to original spl. I renamed the 1.66 rom .nbh file to LEOIMG.nbh and converted the card format into fat32 also.
when i inserted the card into hd2 and turned it on whilst pressing down volume button. its started into boot loader program and den asked me to press power button to start the process.
And then it ended with an error.. 00028002 NOT ALLOW something like that. which is for Invalid vendor ID..
Please help..
how to return to original spl with the latest 1.66 wwe rom.
thx in advance..

don't think you can, HSPL has to stay on...could be wrong though...
why do you want to take it off?

Actually, you did everything correctly... except that you should use the stock ROM for your device, which is vodafone branded, isn´t it?
BTW, did you check the SPL version already? Because it might be already back to stock SPL, but then, you won´t be able to flash an original HTC ROM.
Being back at stock SPL (with vodafone CID) and trying to flash/launch an official HTC ROM on the branded device results in what you write!
Hmm.. is there any harm if i don't remove HSPL??? as m still trying to make my HD2 working..
error coming is 00028002 NOT ALLOW

Get the original 1.43 vodafone UK ROM from here, and repeat what you did.
Follow the first link, select 1.43, then obviously the vodafone ROM.
EDIT PS:
In case you want to keep the stock SPL, but upgrade to the 1.66 HTC ROM, you must do this using SSPL (search for this here in the forum).
As of today, there is no other way of getting the stock SPL back than flashing your original ROM.
BIG thank you .. it is working now with the stock 1.43 rom.. and yes u are right.. it was showing me again 1.42 spl after uninstalling the HSPL.
u saved my hd2.. thx once again for ur great help..

Hi
Thanks for the link, however the 1.43 ROM is corrupt, I have tried downloading several times. I try to extra the RUU_Signed.nbh with winrar but it fails, the 1.66 and 1.72 Vodafone ROMs extract fine.
Basically I am trying to restore a Vodafone HD2 to stock ROM+SPL, reason being the phone they sent on an insurance replacement is rubbish e.g. the touchscreen isn't responsive. I tried changing to a custom ROM also Vodafone 1.66 and 1.72 to see if the problem would be fixed but it didn't help.
Now I just need to send the phone back for another replacement.
Does anyone have an alternative link for this 1.43 ROM?
I am having a similar issue.
I am trying remove HSPL, I have copied the .nbh file over to the SD already formatted as FAT 32 - I'm using my original ROM.
(RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.48.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.05_2_Shp )
Also tried with ( RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.43.405.1_Radio_Signed_15.26.50.07U_2.04.50_22_2_Ship )
When I start with volume down pressed, I get a message saying " Upgrade ROM code error please try again " then the multi coloured screen with SPL-1.42.0000 XE.
Please help, I fear I have broken my phone ...

Then your phone is probably provider rom locked.
SPL-1.42.0000 XE.

HSPL is already removed, which is why the WWE roms don't work. You need to find your provider released rom, or (far easier) run hspl2, choose 1.42.hspl, flash either of teh roms you mentioned above by USB, run hspl2 again, choose 1.42.0000 and done.

Thanks for the reply.
I can't use HSPL2 as the phone doesn't sink to my PC as it's stuck on the tri colour screen. Unless there is a way of doing this from the memory card.
I'm pretty sure my stock ROM was 1.43, which I have downloaded but can't re flash?.
I guess I need to download a 1.42 O2 ROM from somewhere?

No need to sync to pc. In bootloader, connect usb cable - when USB shows on the screen then run HSPL2

OK this is using the 1.48 ROM
Used HSPL2 and hacked to 1.42.hspl, pressed power to start update image, and the ROM loaded but then goes back to the tri colour screen again. So I ran flashed through USB 1.48 ROM and got " Invalid Vendor ID " ?
I tried HSPL2 again to hack to 1.42.0000 and then re-flash through USB and got " invalid vendor ID again "
I even tried with HSPL I had before and the same result.
Argghhhhhh
What can I be doing wrong here ?
Working now
I downloaded the latest O2 ROM 1.72.0 etc and it's working now.
Thanks again guys, you helped me a lot
Once more thing my phone now say's it has SPL-1.66 - I guess when unlocking using HSPL2, I now need to choose 1.66.000?

1. download stock ROM
2. unpack/unzip and place ruu_signed.nbh and ROMUpdateUtility in sd card
3. make sure you have >50% battery life
4. with the device turned off, put sd card in
5. enter boot loader, device will automatically detect ROM file in sd card and
then will install this, it will install stock spl as well so hspl will be removed

sounds like you tried to flash over sd card, which as any fule kno first thing it does is resets the spl, so hspl is no longer installed so the rest of the flash fails.

used sd card again eh?
1 - boot the phone to bootloader. (Three coloured screen)
2 - run hspl2, choose whatever spl you like SO LONG AS it ends HSPL.
3 - when the phone reboots, keep volume down pressed to re enter bootloader
4 - run your rom flash over USB
5 - phone should now boot normally.
6 - if you now want to remove hspl again, re run HSPL2 and choose the spl you want, ENDING IN .0000
samsamuel
Yes Doh - I was flashing from SD and then trying to flash through USB. It all makes sense now. I got around it though by using the new O2 ROM that's just been released so I didn't need to unlock to bring my phone back to life.
Anyway it's all working fine now with the stock 1.72 O2 ROM, just flashed with HSPL2 and re-installed the Energy ROM.
Thanks again for all the help.
ahh good.
Its a good idea if you flash fairly regularly to do your flashing from bootloader, that way you are visually aware of your spl at every step. just get used to holding vol down as it reboots and you can do the whole thing, hspl, rom, radio, without ever having to pull the battery. just keep booting to tri colour till its done.

Problems with HardSPL

So i wanted to go back to the regular ROM for a while but i went to the updated one that just came out yesterday. Then after this loaded, i remember why i switched to ChuckyROM. So i tried to flash the HardSPL to it again but it had a popup that said BAD SPL!
So are there any fixes or advice for this problem?
I'm a complete noob.
So you just flash 2.13 Official T-Mobile rom using sdcard? if it is true than you cant HSPL your device since you are not on SPL 2.08 any more. Your HSPL is overwritten when flashing using memory card.
Maybe you can flash back to 2.10 rom using memory card method to get 2.08 SPL then HSPL you device from there.
I might be wrong so anyone please correct me.
Yeah I couldn't find anything in search so I read around and that's what I got. If this doesn't work then eff me. ):
Post HardSPL questions in the already open HARDSPL thread dude!
And you'll want to flash the 2.10 rom from you're sd card to give you spl 2.08, Then you will be able to HARDSPL you're phone and flash custom rom's of you're choice..
Peace,

HSPL3 AND ROMS 3.14.831.3 Radio 15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14

i read on some topics that hspl doesn't go well with stock roms 3.14 for example there is a 50mb program memory limit (is it ram or storage limit?), i wanted to get more advice on the matter because i read many opposite info about hspl on the forum, is it safe to use hspl3 to flash 3.14 stock roms? in particular this rom: RUU_Leo_S_HKCSL_WWE_3.14.831.3_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship this was released in december
What a coincidence, I was about to ask the same question, although I'm only using HSPL2.
So, is it ok to install a 3.14 stock ROM with HSPL2/3 still installed? Or do we have to flash back the original SPL first?
Remove HSPL, then if allowed you can install 3.14 ROM. If you are not allowed this ROM, then you need to use the GoldCard method, then install the 3.14 ROM.
Installing 3.14 ROM when HSPL is installed will make you phone prone to be unstable and have have a major reduction in RAM - So don't do it.
Ok thanks for the info fred_up. One other question, after I put the original SPL back, can I flash stock 3.14 over the USB cable? I did that with 1.43 -> 1.66, so I', assuming I can still do that?
ram loss is possible with hspl3 flashing rom 3.14! i had more free ram on my x1
can anyone confirm if the only solutions are the goldcard or flashing the rom for which your device is made??

If you downloaded the 3.14 ROM from HTC with your phone's serial number, then HTC are saying that you are entitled to upgrade to that ROM.

At this moment, if you are not entitled to flash the 3.14 ROM, then the only option is to GoldCard before flashing the 3.14 ROM - remembering to remove HSPL first. Your other options are to run the latest ROM from your Operator or run a custom ROM that isn't based upon the 3.14 ROM.
Is it OK to install a stock 3.14 ROM optop of HSPL via SDCard? Won't this erase HSPL?
can you confirm that using a goldcard automatically erases hspl? i think yes

yes it will erase hspl but becareful because if the rom is not the correct one for your device it will still fail to install BUT hspl will have allowed the spl to update to 3.03.0000 andyou will get exclamation mark screen and phone won't boot. in this case you will only get it working again by flashing an older correct stock rom.
solai said:

yes, because the spl is updated to 3.03.0000 and
it can only do that by overwriting the spl, and hence hspl is gone.
use sspl
sspl is only any use if you already have a working 3.14 rom on your phone with spl 3.03.0000.
you cant run 3.14 on any other spl, not just hspl, so whilst SSPL would flash the 3.14 rom (for example from a current 1.66 rom) it would still have the memory issue because the spl would return to 1.66.0000 after the first restart, and the memory glitch would be there.

Flash official rom from 3.14 to 1.72

Hi , ?
i have an hd2 branded to orange FR (rom 3.14 and spl 3.03) but it's unlocked (by a friend)
my question is , i have this file RUU_Lerange_FR-B2B_1.72.73.3_radio_15.32.50.07U_2.07.51.22_2_Signed_LEO_Ship (1).exe , how can i install that ? i want to put windows phone 7 so i need Hspl that don't work with my spl , so how can a install that rom ?
You must downgrade your Rom to a Rom with an SPL 2.10 or lower in order to install HardSPL 2.08. Try to find a 1.48, 1.66 or 1.72 Rom from your carrier and flash via micro SD Card to downgrade the Rom and SPL, then install HardSPL 2.08 and flash a new Radio to meet the requirements for flashing Magldr.

How to flash via SD card can be found here.
And please use the search function in the future.

No need for HSPL to flash the older Orange ROM onto your device via SD card. Just follow the tutorial step by step.
The process will replace the newer SPL with the older version, then you will be ready to flash 2.08.HSPL, the correct Radio ROM 2.15.50.04, and finally MAGLDR before going to WP7.
All information you need is available in the links I put in my first answer.
phone into bootloader
connect usb
wait for serial to change to usb
run the .exe

[Q]What spl and radio?

Hi all. My phone seem to have hardware problem. Can you tell me what spl and radio should I install before I take my HD2 T8585 to service center? I can't remember what it was.
My phone still has 6 months warranty.
I have Tmous, and radio is 2.15.50.14
Just download the official ROM for your HD2 and flash it via SD card. This will revert you to the stock radio, ROM, splash screen, and SPL.

Yes you are fine to flash it via USB and then revert your HSPL back to SPL via the DFT HSPL utility. I just suggested flashing via SD card as it will do it all at one time leaving you with no need to manually revert your HSPL to SPL. Plus if you need to put SPL 3.10.0000 back on your HD2 this is the only way to do it as not even HSPL 4 has this SPL yet, HSPL 4 only goes up to SPL 3.03.0000.

I got your PM and sent you one back on your question here.
For everyone else here. The latest SPL that is in the latest official update ROM for the TMOUS is SPL 3.10.0000. And HSPL 4 does not have this stock SPL included in it so flashing the ROM via SD card is the only way to get it right now.
