hi!!
after i call someone and the party is busy it goes to lock screen... is this normal ? this only happens if i keep a phone near my ear so the screen is off by proximity sensor.. then when i hear a busy signal and want to press redial the screen is always locked.... ergh
thanks!
using cyanogenmod beta5
ive just asked some ppl around with nexus ones and they say its a usual behavior..
doesnt this annoy anoyone but me??? pretty strange
I just upgraded my Note to 4.0.3 ics and this problem has not gone away. Even after this upgrade the phone locks itself after getting busy signal.
Because of firm policy i have to have enabled phonelock.
And yes, timeout for locking is set to 5 min.
Is there any workaround for this

I recently purchased my first Android (Samsung Galaxy S3) and it has ICS 4.04 installed. I have just noticed the same issue....if I dial a number and the line is busy, the phone returns to the lock screen where I need to enter my phone password. If I don't place the phone to my ear it won't return to the lock screen. And if the call is answered, everything functions normally, returning to the phone dialler menu after the call is finished.
Does anyone else experience this problem? Is it "normal". Its a big pain as I run the phone through microsoft exchange at work and require password access.
Thanks in advance guys.

Driving me crazy. The screen lock insists on activating immediately after a call, necessitating a swipe to make a follow on call. SE support says that the phone does not do this. Am I missing something simple? Screen timeout is set loooooong.
mine does it too very annoying.... dont think anything can be done
You could switch the time out off completely.. that might work (I haven't tried it.. it's just a theory)..you can still lock the screen manually with the button on the top.
No it does not - set screen not to lock and the lock happens after the call . What bugs me is that SE says it does not happen! I wonder if they have the same phone
yes, it's an annoying issue. i tried a few apps including "no lock", "lockbot" etc. None worked well with my X10.
i have the same problem. after a call the screen locks. sometimes the screen even locks DURING a call
WTF!!!!!!!!!
Same over here. Lockbot latest version claimed they handled the issue of not opening the notification bar, but that's not true. After installing their latest version it was still not working. Ashame, because further on the program works quite well, and I really liked some themes of them.
So I am stuck to with this problem...
(Sorry for the not very helpful post, just wanted to know I am not happy with this too...)
Cheers,
Arnold
Hi - I'm not having this problem.. (so you're wondering why I'm posting? is it just to show off??!!)...
No.. I was wondering how many of you have task managers running? I've stopped using them, about 3 weeks ago and my phone has run much more smoothly since..
Something to try perhaps?
No task manager just a bleedin' scree lock that operates at the end of a call!!!!!!!!! VERY annoying - almost as bad as no bluetooth phonebook protocol but I have got over that for now.
Ice, if your phone does not do this what settings have you got in display eyc that may have affected the situation. Is it a branded phone? could that be it?
try "no lock", it works well on my X10i.
Except it appears to make the phone 'live' in your pocket as accidentally pressing a button lights up the screen and enables dialling to New York (other places are available) Not convinced.

'Thank you for contacting the Sony Ericsson support centre.
Unfortunately there is no way to stop the handset locking when you have finished on a call, we offer apologies for any inconvenience this may cause'
Thank you SE. This after a month of telling me that it does not happen and that my handset is faulty!
I think i discovered a huge issue with the new firmware. When i have a second line calling me the screen does not wake up allowing me to switch to the second call. In the past, when a second call comes in the proximity sensor would wake the screen and allow me to take or reject the call. Now i cant even see who is calling. Since i use the phone for business, this is a big, big issue. Anyone else experience this?
Can anyone please check this for me please by calling their voicemail and then dialing their own cell # from another phone please. Thanks
you're right. phone does not wake up but you can push the power button wake it up.
I tested.
When the phone beeps to tell me a have another call i take phone away from my head and proximity censor takes a little longer..like 5 sec before screen comes on.
But mine doesn't stay off like yours...tested 5 times

My screen does come on eventually about 5 seconds. Before it used to be instant. Hitting the power button doesn't wake the phone like the other user mentioned. Do u guys think a factory reset will help. I am reluctant to take the plunge cause its such a pain in the neck to reinstall everything.
I have the same issue as well. I tested 3 times and the issue existed every time. I tried to unlock the phone with power button but it wouldn't unlock it (maybe lag?) because after I pressed power button 4 times, THEN it lit up for a moment but by that time, the waiting call already ended.
I'm surprised more people aren't bothered with this serious issue.
Got the same issues, updated via ODIN, argh that's gonna be fun.
Interesting...it would be great if you guys contacted Samsung via email/other method to let them know about the issue. Hopefully they can fix this bug.

I would love to contact them, just not sure where/how. Even if they do fix it, it will only come with another bug fix OTA or Froyo whichever comes first. Given Samsung's track record, this will probably take a while. To me personally, this is an earth shaterring issue since i use the phone exclusively for business being on multiple lines often. Its so bad for me that if it isnt fixed by the time the new mytouch HD comes out, I will have to dump the vibrant even though i love it so much. Me missing calls far outweighs the "love" for this handset.
Its been a few days now since many of us have gotten the update and I am surprised so few of us have not reported this. Has anyone been able to come up with a temporary fix or a replacement dialer to alleviate the horrible issue??
its been a few days now since many of us have gotten the update and i cant believe how so few people have complained about this. It is so annoying not to see who is calling on the second line .
I just got the firmware today and I'd be willing to go back. I missed three calls today because of it. Now what do I do?
I've been having issues with my i9505 not always "waking up" when someone tries to ring me, and instead they get sent directly to my voicemail.
It's inconsistent from speaking to people who have tried to ring me and got my voicemail, even though my phone is ALWAYS ON 24/7 with a near maximum H+ signal, and always near full charge.
Is it normal when you press the home key and the lock screen appears that the clock initially shows the last time the phone was "woken" or "unlocked" and then in an instant corrects itself to the correct time??
It feels like the phone is going into a deeper sleep state than I'd like which MAY be causing my issues?

I've not done any updates whatsoever and have only had the phone for 2 weeks, and simply installed several apps.
It took ages to configure the phone settings to my liking, so I really don't want to factory reset it.
Does the "clock not updating on lock screen" that I mentioned happen to you or anyone else?
Waking up this question thread. I'm experiencing the exact same issues - with my i9506 (the LTE+ model). Quite annoying actually even though the problem may seem minute.
Interesting to see that you havd/hade the same problems under JB. I'm seeing the same under KK 4.4.2. Just checked the clock-update on lock screen and for a split of a second, the clock showed the "old time" before it updated. I do not know if i had the same problem before updating to KK (I had the phone only for about a month before it was updated to 4.4.2). Maybe it has to do with some deep sleep policy issue for the Snapdragon chipset as both the i9505 and i9506 have Snapragon. I have reported my observations to my local Samsung customer care centre (which is in Sweden).

My friend has a new stock s5 and can not answer calls if the phone is asleep(screen off)
The phone rings and the screen turns on with the answer slider.
He slides the answer call and then it just sits there for a few seconds like it is frozen, but never answers the call.
He can then call the number back and everything works fine, or if the person who called calls back while the screen is still on then he can answer just fine.
We live in a village in alaska (phone company is GCI) which only has edge data.
When he is in anchorage he can answer calls just fine even when the phone is asleep.
He has put his sim card in his old iphone and it works fine.
His wife got an S5 at the same time and both of their phones have the same exact issue.
I have no problems in the same area with my old S2 or my newer S4.
Any idea on what he can change in order to answer calls the first time?

No thoughts or ideas on this issue?
I also have this same issue. It does it when its asleep and it also does it when its awake. For some reason it just wont slide over to answer its weird. Mine doesnt do it every time it does it 3 out of 4 times though.

There have only been a very small number of reports across several phone models of this behaviour.. and AFAIK no one has elucidated a pattern that would elucidate a cause with any certainty. I can tell you that my 900T with the Phoenix ROM does not have this issue.
Unfortunately, no one who has posted with this issue has provided nearly enough details about their configuration to narrow anything down but as pure speculation it may just be a delay in waking up that effectively misses the window in which you could answer the call. If so, then debloated ROMs, faster data connections and those utilizing less power saving features i.e. typically throttling the active processor would likely see the problem less or not at all.
.
Perhaps try reducing the proximity sensor delay time. In theory that may reduce the transition time from screen saver to dialer /home screen.
Edit (or add if not present) build.prop
Code:
mot.proximity.delay=0
ro.lge.proximity.delay=25
ro.telephony.call_ring.delay=0
ring.delay=0
.
.

Stock. Not rooted and no new roms.
Both his and his wifes phones are new and stock and have the same problem.
Has anyone else experienced this problem.
I've had my note 4 for 3 days. The strange part is that sometimes.. (Not all times) my phone rings and when I answer it can hear nothing and the other party can hear nothing.
I've put it down to weak signal buy my note 3 handles the signal perfectly.. Nothing at all wrong with it.
By weak signal mean 1-2bars 3g signal.
I reboot my phone and all seems to be fine..
My brother has also experienced ghost rings where the phone rings but isn't actually ringing if that makes sense..
Looking for advice really on wether I should send it back on warrenty?

I had the same last week. Rebooted and all has been fine so far
I had this too - it was with incoming calls and outgoing calls.. Just pure silence - could not even hear the phone dialling or the ring tone through the earpiece..
Reboot fixed it and hasn't occured since.. If it re-occurs though i may take it in for replacement.

Yeah i rebooted and worked fine afterwards, though i dont ring alot of people, not sure if its completely gone or not.. time will tell i suppose..
never had that problem on any device ive previously owned.. id say i miss my note 3 but not with this powerhouse in my pocket lol..
thanks guys!
Yeah I am getting this as well, a reboot does fix it but then the problem reappears. Its a bit annoying! I have had to reboot 3 times in the last 2 weeks. I initially thought it was a BT issue but apparently not!
What networks you guys on?
Same thing is happening to me
I have a SM-910H. bought last week. I planned to keep it stock for a while for this very reason, the possibility that I've got a lemon.
I almost never call, but sometimes it's just silent. The receiving end rings and when picked up, silence as well. Sometimes it just takes like 5 seconds, then the call starts working. When people call me it's the same thing.. the phone rings, caller id works fine., but then I pick up and.... silence... Neither me nor the people who are on the other side can hear anything.
I've rebooted and battery pulled.. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
I did a factory reset yesterday just to see.. Same problems.
This morning it started working perfectly, no lag between pressing the call button and hearing the phone ring (like a phone is supposed to work). And then it stopped working again. Took it to the store and it worked fine
It's really frustrating because everything else is working perfectly fine, WiFi, mobile data, sound, voice, everything. Except for the dialer.
I'm going to exchange it for a new one.
Same problem with mine. A reboot fixes the problem, but it will reappear after a few hours or a day or two.

Try turning off VoLTE. Some people have issues with it enabled and it may not be working properly in your area.
Sorry forgot about this thread.. erm I bought my phone on tesco UK. But use my 3 sum card in it.. never had a problem since my initial complaint..
Well at least with voice calls..
I did however have serious lock ups with my device which after the update I got yesterday seem to of been totally eliminated.
So happy days for me hopefully..
Looking forward to seing Android Lollipop on the note 4 in january
