Hi,
I have a big problem with miy HD2. Everytime I shut off the phone and boot it again, the phone function is not available and I am not prompted to use the pin number.
In the status line at the top there is a "!" and something that looks like a cone (german: Trichter).
the only way to active the phone function is to dial a number, after that I am asked to fill in the SIM pin number.
I got the same Problem...
Please Help...

I did a soft reset on my phone (Clicked the soft reset button with Battery Pack 2003). I'm running ROM 4.00.16, radio stack 6.24.
Anyway, it rebooted, then came up asking for the sim unlock password. I've never set any kind of password on there, so I just clicked cancel. The radio status icon at the top showed it was off - had the X. I clicked on that and selected turn on radio and all was fine.
Strange, though. I've never seen that message come up before!
Me too!
I had that happen yesterday in Akron Ohio, USA on T-Mobile. Same situation, with the phone showing the sim lock dialogue, then turning off, and then when I turned it back on, it was fine. Strange because I've unlocked my phone! I'm running 3.14 with radio 6.18
Any ideas on what may have caused this?
Could you post screen snapshot?
Replicating the problem
I can't replicate the problem, but it looked just like a standard message box with text entry box included. Probably the same thing a users sees when they put a sim card from another provider into a locked phone.
does it say sim lock
what is the text on the screen does it say
GID CODE
or whatever
if it says enter GID Code try
00000000
Got home today--put the phone in cradle noticed it was searching for provider--since then phone does not work at all- I was out and around today--no calls. another phone in house same provider works fine. I just have that icon with the x and when i try to turn on the phone nothing happens.
Any ideas???
Have you tried a soft reset?
Several times--anyone know what flight mode is?

Click to collapse
Flight Mode stands for "no wireless emision" mode:
- NO phone comunications functions
- NO Bluetooth
- NO WI-FI
This is the usual mode required during commercial flights, where the name comes from. You can use only the PDA part of your XDA while in this mode.
Hope it helps.
Thanks
Well that explains flight mode.
Still does not explain why i am in flight and how to get out of it. If i try to make a call it says phone turned off-do you want to start. ckick yes and nothing happens--the dialog box goes away but no phone--also cannot see phone trying to connect to anything.
Hi!
Tap your phone icon on the top bar, (it should show an X) then tap "turn off flight mode", it should bring your phone back, and request the PIN. If not, call your phone program from the programs menu, and see what happens.
It is simple, if nothing happens your phone/phone SW might be damaged somehow....
Good luck!
I have been trying all that and nothing happens. Wonder if a hard reset might help or if the sim card is damaged.
A hard reset will answer the question, and at least you can do a backup of your data.

Did not want to hard reset. Put the sim in another phone and got sim rejected error message. then went to ais and they told me the sim was damaged and gave me another one for 10 bucks--same number.
Thanks everyone for your replies.

Flight mode
My T-mobile MDA had same problems very difficult to switch flight mode on and off, had to tap almost 10 times, after upgrade to newest rom, problem solved. works on first tap
My phone jsut started having this problem...
When i turn it on I see the HTC logo and some numbers in red on the bottom of the screen. One of the numbers is 1.35 (my rom). Then after a few seconds just above the rom numbers is flashed No GSM then starts to load windows.
After this it never asks me for my sim password and goes right to my today screen but there is no phone connectivity.
Any ideas on a solution?
Does anyone know how to get rid of the voicemail logo at the top of the screen, it’s really annoying me. I accidentally deleted all my contacts... Don’t ask how, so I decided to go through my old sim card, so put that in, but it had a voice mail, so gave me the little message, but I called the voicemail and it wouldn’t let me through as the sim was no longer in use and could not make a call. So I just went along and put my new sim in, but the logo is still there!!
There must be some way of getting rid of this short of a hard reset.
Can anyone help me get into my phone? For some reason it is no longer accepting the 4 digit password when I switch on the phone. It's not saying the number is wrong, just "Emergency phone calls can be made". It says this as soon as any numbers are entered and before the Unlock soft button is pressed. Pressing the Unlock button seems to do nothing.
I can still browse the phone using ActiveSync. Is there a file I can remove to prevent the phone from locking when I soft reset it?
I've got HTC home installed and the phone is running Windows 6 (an official O2 upgrade). I'd like to avoid hard resetting the phone if poss.
Thanks
Fixed
Tried the same 4 digit pin today and it worked! There must be a timed lock that kicks in after a number of tries. There was a clock running yesterday on the screen.
But the odd thing was that I hadn't tried to get into the phone for a couple of days.
Now a bit worried that this'll happen again randomly. Does anyone know how this works?
