Connecting Vario III via the AUX connector in the car.

I have an Audi A3, which has an AUX port to connect an MP3 player, so that it plays over the car radio/speakers. (FYI: The AUX port is wired into the CD changer of the Car radio).
I was wondering if a cable exists that can connect to the VARIO (tilt) into aux, so when the phone rings it plays through the speakers. Im hoping that the mic on the phone is good enough to pick up my voice which it sits in the cradle.
I could also use this link up to play mp3s on the tilt as well.
Get a 11-pin miniUSB male to 3.5mm male cable. Search on ebay or google.
you need something like this

fyi, if you just get a mini usb to 3.5mm plug, the mic on the phone will mute itself once you plug that 3.5mm adapter plug, so you can hear the caller but no matter how loud you scream, the other party won't be able to hear you.
I had the same idea before, tested it and it didn't work. That's why I had to order this adapter from ppctech.
Thanks for the replies, both are very helpful.

Microphone only adaptor

Heya,
Currently I have a 3 way splitter HTCusb -> Power (miniusb) | Audio (3.5mm) | HTC Headset Connection (HTCusb)
What I need is a microphone only 'headset' to go in the headset socket, as the audio is allready being passed to my car's speakers via the 3.5 jack.
Does anyone know if/where somthing like this exists? or should i buy a cheap headset and splice the earphones off?
Also anyone else find the fuze is unable to gain positive charge whilst on and connected to a 12v ciggaret adaptor, it still drains but at a slower rate, but I do not have an offical charger, which may be the problem.
+1
I also have my audio sent to my car speakers. But since the phone thinks I have a headset attached, the phone microphone is disabled. So when it rings, I have to undock it from the cradle and stick it to my ear. I'd love to have just a microphone mounted near the visor. Anyone know where I can find one?
Wouldn't this do as a workaround?

Plug into the HTC headset connection on your adapter, then you have a micropohone. Then plug the 3.5 jack into the end (instead of the headphones)
The large block adapter that came in the box works for me and allows me to use my car speakers w/ aux input and there is no problems with the microphone.
I had this problem with my tilt with the Y splitter adapter, however the multi adapter that comes in the fuze box works for me perfectly.

There will be the same offers on ebay in your country. Searchwords: HTC 3,5mm

Headphone Jack Issue

I am interested in purchasing this phone, but I read there is an issue with not being able to use the microphone while headphones are plugged in. I hook my current Android into my car stereo through my headphone jack and when people call, it uses the speaker phone to talk while I hear people on the car stereo. Would I still be able to do this on the Fascinate, or does that also disable the speaker phone mic, or are they the same mic?
im not sure what you are asking but i ahve no problems with it, i plug in my headphones with the mic in them and they work great, use them for listening to music and talking and love it
He means he has his phone plugged into the speakers in his car through the aux jack, and then when he gets a call he uses the speakerphone option to talk, and incoming voice audio plays on his car stereo. I do not think this will currently work on the fascinate...
You've heard right. It blocks speakerphone when headphones/aux are plugged in. It's quite a pain considering I use it as my music player in the car. It also ignores bluetooth while plugged in as well.
I got used to unplugging it when I get a call, though.
This is correct, and was almost a deal breaker for me. However, the car dock has a function where you don't need to plug in the AUX, only the micro-USB, and you can charge it as well as have audio output (the audio goes through the charging port, then is output by a 3.5mm output on the dock, and finally to your car's AUX in). This feature isn't enabled yet, but once Froyo is released it will be - and then we should be able to take calls over our car speakers without the mic being muted.
Just something to keep in mind,

So Indy, we can't use the car dock the way it was intended until froyo drops? That means I can't hear my nav thru the speakers while docked or any music?
Sent from my Fascinate
As I understand it, yes. There is a sticker on the port letting you know that it won't function properly until the release of 2.2. I'm still waiting on my dock to get here in the mail, but I've seen several threads elsewhere where this is discussed.
I don't think the dock has room, but if it does, you could still run an AUX cable from the headphone jack to your car's input, and have nav and music through the speakers - you just wouldn't be able to take calls with it connected because of the mic being muted with an AUX cable connected. Once 2.2 is released, as I understand, you'll be able to do it all.
Thanks for the help. It looks like ill be waiting before I make a purchase. I use slacker radio too much in my car and my deck doesn't have an auxiliary in, its old school tape deck so I have a device that plugs in the tape deck.

[Q] hands free idea for the car

Ive been pondering this and thought i'd post it here for your general feedback.
the plug for the hearphone/mic headset that comes with the device is a triple pole 3.5mm jack - same thing used by video camcorders into the phono adaptors.
On the back of my car stereo unit ive an Aux in which would be the red/white plugs of this cable for the audio feed. This is generally how i'd plug my phone in to listen to my music.
Now with the 3rd wite (yellow) i was thinking if i used a small PC Mic (3.5mm jack) and get a patch cable made to connect this to a male phono would this work? it'd also give me the ability to hear my phone throughthe car, and a lengthy cable i can hide and place a mic in the car leaving a simple 3.5mm jack to plug into

[Q] Broken Headphone Jack

Hi,
I mistakenly plugged a powered cable into my headphone jack. I was in my car, it was dark; I meant to grab the audio cable so that could connect my phone to the car stereo. Instead, I grabbed the power cord to a backup display and inserted it into my HD2. The phone is fine, but I now get very little sound out of the headphone jack. I was wondering if there is a fuse on the jack that guards against power input and if so, can this fuse be replaced? Does anyone know if this is possible? If not, I guess I will need to get a Bluetooth headset in order to listen to music and movies again.
Thanks for your help,
Paul
