Some Email Management Questions Please - HD2 General

Is there any way:
1) to make Gmail pop3 rather than Imap? I want to delete emails from the phone after I have read them and don't need them without deleting them from my webmail account
2) to make gmail [ideally just for one of the 2 accounts I have set up on the phone] "push" email so that I get sent notification/email as soon I receive it in this account?
3) possible to turn off checking for emails overnight [between a preset time] so I dont get the notification noises at this time?
EDIT I do have BSB tweaks installed - can I do it via that? If so how?

1. yes, you have to setup it, then go to edit it, and type in the POP settings from gmail.
2. nope. its a standard tell the server when to get mail. being 5 mins or longer.
3. you'd have to silence the email notification under settings - sounds

Automaticly downloading emails

Hey,
I just set up my email account on my XDA II.
Little question about automaticly downloading emails.
On my spv e200 (also an HTC phone) I need to have my mailbox loaded before it download emails. What I mean with this: open the inbox and than go to the email tab (not sms).
Is this the same for the XDA II?
Or can my inbox be set on sms and the emails are still downloaded?
Cheers
when one set up ones mail account one have to choose if it should check mail every X minut and which connection it should use to do this so i asume very much that it'll still do it if you are in sms
Yes I did that
Just asking about the inbox.
Thanks for asking.
well i havent set that option on myself so i cant promise you anything but if it dont i would call it a bug
I have set 2 email account on my XDA2 or 1 (it s the same)
well if i programm my accounts to be checked every X mn i have to let the selector on the email account otherwise it wont connect and pop for my mails.
Of course it pop only the email account selected. so you can consider it is the same.
I can not automatically check for both of my mail accounts.
But if you let the selector on your email accout, you will also be notified for incoming SMS, whereas if you let the selector on the SMS account you will not be notified for any new incoming mail
not really a bug, but will be great from MS to correct thant in the next release

POP3 notifier for the HTC Universal?

There are a lot of POP3 notifiers for Windows.
Is there any POP3 notifier for the HTC Universal?
Here is what features interest me:
- check POP3 every X minutes (configurable delay) using minimal data transfer
- if I get mail from certain contacts (configurable), the program should ring and vibrate and show a notification
- start on startup, run all the time, but only check POP3 between configurable hours
Is there any program like this available?
I know that "push email" exists, but I hate Exchange, and I want to use my own POP3 (GMAIL) account without passing through an unreliable piece of software such as Exchange.
Thank you.
Well you could create a new mail (mail2) account that only checks for new mails.
Set it to : (Under Options)
1/3) Connect and check for messages every : Your interval
3/3) "Get message headders only", and disable message body
Sound And Notifications -> Notifications: New e-mail message
Set it to play sound and what other settings you wish.
If you then get a mail on your mail2 account that you would like to read, just switch to your Mail1 account, and recive it there
Should/could work even though it dossent do all that you want it to!
Thank you. This is a very interesting method.
I can do something like:
- forward mail from certain contacts, from GMail account 1 (main account) to account 2
- use the checking you described on account 2
This is very interesting.
It's true that this method does some data transfer, but so does "push email" - it sends the so-called "pulse" to the server periodically.
I'm surprised that no company has done their own "push mail" and stuff. These things are quite simple to program. If only I could get used to Visual C++ again...

Check multiple email accounts with 1 key press & HTML em

I would like to know if it is possible to check multiple email accounts without having to switch between each one. I do have profimail which can do this, but would like to use the std. messaging if possible.
Also, is there a registry fix to open HTML emails in the browser so they can be read?
I don't want to use push email as I am roaming so only check infrequently.
Thanks,
Mike
I am looking for software like that, too.
I have 5 e-mail accounts registered in poutlook on my htc with wm6.5.
I check e-mails manually so I've got tired to open poutlook and choose one account>send receive and after everytring is finished switch account and repeat previous step.
... so is there a posibility to check all accounts with a push of a button? (tap - I mean)

Don't you need to have some type of setting, either on your device or with hotmail, to have the handset make changes to your actual email box?
I remember with a blackberry you could set up your account to listen strictly to your phone and what you tell it to delete versus the server. Try checking your hotmail settings to see if you're simply getting a copy on your device of an email or actually accessing and changing your email messages.

Accounts & Sync - Scheduling?

Hey all, I'm lost on this, maybe I cannot find the feature.
How do you schedule syncing? I can go into settings-accounts & sync, but I don't see anyway to set it up to lets say automatically sync ever hour or every 2 hours.
I'll use my gmail accounts as an example. How can I get them to sync on a schedule, not when the phone itself wants to sync them. Thanks!
Yeah I think I'm a moron becasue I coudn't find the sync buttons anywhere. In my G1 it was pretty easy to find, but not on this phone.
Think button is in accounts, scheduling does not exist here. I think this feature is in droid x
If you go to accounts and do a long touch on your selected account the settings for it will appear. Within this you can change the frequency that your email syncs.
Gmail syncs automatically and its push, that means as soon as you get an email the phone will download it, there is no time to set.
the other accounts (via email app) you can just press the menu button and go to settings when you are in the account and tell it how often you want it to check (5, 10, 15 mintues, etc)

Im pretty sure Gmail does not have "push". Unless they changed it in TouchWiz, Gmail never had push notifications. I use "Tasker" to schedule my syncing every morning at 4am.
I am not sure how long it's been, but it's been a while. I had a blackberry and HD2 and if you use their Gmail app instead of the email app native from the phone, it will be push and that is why there is no setting where you can change how frequent you want it to check. I can send myself an email from my work to my gmail and my phone will alert me whithin 5 seconds no matter how often I send the email... so it is push
