Hey everyone!
Not long ago i bought this htc touch 2
But once in a while i get these network problems. Sometimes, it just cuts off after turning phone off and on. Sometimes it just says i have network, but no one can call in, or send sms. have tried this:
- turning off 3g
- reset the phone with two methods (back to factory settings, and just ordinary default settings reset)
- "restarted phoneoperating settings"
- tried two different sim cards
- searched for phone network, but phone says "cant register on chosen network etc."
looked around in phone settings, changing all sorts of things, but aint getting anywhere. getting furious!!
another thing, have tried to switch between gsm, and wcdma
All these changes seemes to work SOMETIMES...after the network disconnects again, i have to use some other settings. It doesn't work with just one simple setting....
soooo...anyone uptil now who have had these problem yet?its a bit frustrating to have a phone u cant use...as a phone...still cant ring or send msg.....

I have used my x1 for four months in America with T-mobile. The phone had no problem until yesterday. However, yesterday, the phone began to lose signal and automatically rebooted several times. Then, finally, from the afternoon, the phone totally lost the signal, and kept looking the signal.
I took out my sim card and plugged into another cell phone and it worked. So, I thought it was the problem of the rom. (I was using Touch-IT 4.5) I downloaded the new version of the rom, Touch-IT 5.6, then flashed it. However, it did not solve the problem. So, I flashed with the original SE rom. However, the phone didn't work either.
I contacted T-mobile, and there was not problem on the signal on my region. I thought it might the problem of data plan since I do not use data plan. So I used Advanced config and killed every option for data plan. However, it still does not work. I tried to do settings manually. changing band, carrier, and every possible options, but it does not work.
Interestingly, the phone worked two times today for a short amount of the time. However, after the reset, it is gone. Other than phone function, I do not see any problem.
Even now the phone keeps searching the signal. What can I do? I read another article that is similar to my case, and they say even after changing the sim card, it does not work.
Anyone has the same issue? What can I do? My phone is dead for two days, and it messes up so many things. Please somebody help me.
Have you tried redoing the connection setup?
try clicking on signal antenna then enter settings click on network and manual select your network, will take a few mins to find networks if it connects manualy just select auto again and hopefully it will fix it., worked with mine.
Thank you guys
Thank you guys. Yes, I have tried both of them, but it still does not work.
In Connection setup, I chose United States and T-mobile, and the screen to choose between T-mobile and At&t. I select T-mobile, and click Register. Then, it goes to the searching mode again, and nothing happens.
I assume that somehow, the phone finds networks, since it does show the options to choose (T-mobile, At&t). But something is not right, and it messes the set up. I do not know why.
Hi all,
I have a HTC Touch HD, running WM6.5, all seems fine, but every now and then I cannot dial out, either by selecting a contact or by manual dialling.
If I reset the device it then allows me to dial again, but after a couple of hours use it stops dialling out, very weird, I hope it is something that can be rectified easily?
Can someone help me with this annoying problem please?
Apart from that the rom upgrade is mega, although I also am having a problem getting O2 mms settings to work, that I can live without.
Cheers Mark
I'm having the same problem, seems your service provider doesn't support GPRS connection while voice dialing, what you have to do is: go to settings>connections>connections> advance then select network set the connection to My Work network or anything other than the operators' connection .
This is what happened to me in UAE and after spending hours with Service provider and HTC customer support, that was the only solution.
It occurs more under wm6.5 since the os connects automatically to 3g,Edge or hspda so upon resetting, the system disconnect connection and that's why you are able to call again.
I wish someone can help us developing a patch that can disable internet automatically on dialling and reconnect upon call end.
Idid that, but then could not connect to the internet, so I put it back as it was.
I noticed that the 3G setting was on, I turned this off, mainly because we are not in a 3G area, I will see what that does, many thanks for the advice.
Hey
I know there are threads related to this issue where an Hero refuses to connect to a network (the bars has a x over the top) however i've discovered something strange with my hero.
With the correct data/apn settings the phone is connecting to the network and will allow me to browse the internet, post tweets etc etc, it actually allows me to do anything thats not phone related. I cannot make calls or sent text messages.
This phone was unlocked and working ok until one day it just stopped working with my network.
The hero is unlocked - I have tested it with Tmobile and Three and they both work. Any kind of o2 sim refuses to work....
Am i being a complete n00b and missing something here....?
Any help appreciated - I;ve spent weeks on this issue and almost ready to give up
Damon
Anyone having a similar issue to the above, I've found something that appears to help fix this.
Get AnyCut from the market place, create a shortcut to Phone info.
Launch phone info, turn off radio.
Now im not exactly sure why this works but change 'set preferred network type' to WCDMA Only and then renable the radio after a few moments, the singal returns.
Weird and very annoying.
Damonsk,
Can you point me to a solution for the other problem where the hero refuses to connect to a network (the bars has a x over the top). I have searched every term I can think of with no luck yet. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.
Apologies if this has been posted before, I have tried to find topics similar, but have found no resolution thus far.
My X10's data was working perfectly, then about 2 weeks ago, market stopped working at "Starting Download" never completed, and I couldn't download Apps! This suddenly fixed itself one night randomly, and all my apps downloaded and installed, but instantly the market problem continued when I tried to use it again!
Now, the 3G/2G connection is totally non existent, there is NO icon at the top.. I have tried restarting the phone, turning it off and on, sim and battery out, even calling O2 to get correct APN settings (Server field is black, is this right?) and I got no "green light" beside "mms" at the APN type field..
The signal was fantastic before, and my family are still getting 3G connection on their phones, so I ahve no idea what the problem is.. I installed a few battery saving things which Iv since uninstalled.. but i have no clue what to do!
Any help would be much appreciated.. Thankyou!
suggest backing up your apps and then doing a factory data reset.. it's a pain in the proverbials but worked for me when this happened a couple of months ago.
How do I go about doing this mate? Any easy way?
Hi - Before you do this.. Can I just check something.. have you check in your network settings that it's not switched off... settings; wireless controls; mobile networks; MMS and data (needs to be on!).. and network mode - best to have it on GSM/ WCDMA Preferred to make sure... otherwise.... to answer your question above..
That will depend on whether you've already downloaded a file/ app manager such as ASTRO which will allow you to back up the apps.... if not you'll just have to make a note of which ones you want to reinstall and re load them after you've reset the phone.. the reset is done in the settings menu - sd card and phone storage - factory data reset... it will reset your phone back to how is was when you first got it though..
I've just bought a second hand omnia 7, i put my sim card in and went straight on facebook so i assumed it was fine.. i then realised i couldnt make calls or send texts, and none of my calls went through. i tried it on a different sim and had the same problem.. HELP
I also have this problem any help? I cant make/send calls or texts but can get on G and browse the internet, could this be a problem with the setting on the phone? APN's maby? done 2 factory resets and recieved a text from windows phone saying welcome but thats all it will do....
I have the same problem, after some time. Messaging and calls stop working...
Has anyone come up with a fix for this?
I have full signal on an unlocked Omnia 7 but it is a simple case of not being able to make any calls or texts (or receive them for that matter).
Maybe they tamperd in Diagnostic Tools. I messed aroun and had a hard time restoring the radio settings. Look for diagnostic codes here you find a toon if codes to use. Hit this in your dial pad and you install and start the diagnostic tools.
##634#
You need to find the codes (cant remember em im afraid) that gives access to gsm/3G section.
Just had to look =P
- Hit *#32489# and you get to Cyphering. Mine is on
- Hit back once and you can press [5] RRC (HSPA). Mine is set to REL6
- If you back to the side where we could find the above [5]RRC option, you have below a Dual Mode setting. Mine says "Not ACT"
- When you type in *#32489# you can press back 2 times. There you can select option [7] Network settings. In there you can look if stuff is in automatic modes. Like...
[2] Band selection, mine is in automatic.
Well, there you have it. Something to compare to a working device. A hard reset won't put these values to default so you will have to look for your self. Now be carfull in there, you can do more damage if you dont acctully read what the pages says. If you understand what im saying, there should be no problems. Check out your settings and compare to mine. Se any diff just set it like i given advice on. Hope this helps..
Cheers for the advice but it hasn't helped as I have the same settings as you, another thing to add whenever I do try to make a call it comes up "00:00 Call Ended". I hope that may help someone in diagnosing the problem.
Have you tried downloading the Samsung Network Profile tool from Marketplace and then changing the Active profile to your SIM card?
Hvae you tried putting an unbranded ROM on? (even an old one as Zune will update with the unbranded ROM!!)
Same problem tried different ROMS but still have "Emergency Only".
The SIM is OK.
anybody found a fix for this problem ? im also suffering but the phone will receive texts and voice-mail on the orange network, it was on orange before i got it unlocked.
thanks hope there is help out there
