OTA and Manual Update? - Nexus One General

So I've manually updated, impatient... ; ) what happens when they role out the OTA? will i get it, if i do do i install it, hoping maybe a few more bugs are fixed idk, thoughts?

No.... you already have it.

Although if some changes are made then you will receive a new OTA most likely... Because it will be a entire new OTA, doubt it is gonna happen soon

I could only wish a few more bugs are fixed along the way...but will take what they have for now!

[Q] Another Stupid Noobie Question

(probably not the best title if I want to get an answer, but...)
I have successfully rooted and have done the lag fix. Surprisingly, all went very smoothly despite my lack of knowledge in this area. I haven't flashed any ROMs or changed anything, I've just done the root and lag fix.
Now to my question...when the OTA update comes out, can I just update from my phone? Honestly, there is no need for me to be rooted since I have no idea what I'm doing. I just did it so I could install the lag fix. But if the update fixes lag, I have no need for either. Basically, I'd like to know that if I do the update via OTA, all will be well in the world with my phone, correct? It will just override the root and lag fix? Or will it jack up my phone because I didn't uninstall the two?
Thanks to all!
You will be able to install the update, you will lose root after the update, as for the lagfix, the 1Gig file is probably still going to be there but it's probably going to be useless(not sure about the lagfix part but since OTA does not format the memory this is probably the case).
Related to your post I would like to know if you can update your phone with out rooting it if you are not on T-Mobile's network anymore? And if not if you put a T-Mobile pay as you go card will you be able to update then?

there is another thread with the same question and someone said that someone is probably going to post the update on XDA, which is probably going to be faster than you getting it over the air.
I'm going to take a guess and say that most likely you will not get the update when your on a different net.

A copy of the new OTA for everyone who wants it

http://www.mediafire.com/file/bjxvu....651.1-4.24.651.1_release2dk2r14ngv5s3bvl.zip Here you are untouched best of all it fixes voice recognition.
I'm anxiously waiting for someone to post a deodexed version. =)
That wouldn't do much the biggest update when you pull it apart is to the firmware.
Update? for?
Rooted?
snarf
Not rooted yet.
yeah. I've been waiting for this voice issue update for a while. however, I'd rather just have unlimited power and freedom to do what I want with the hardware HTC gave us. Filtered Sprint crap.
Looks like theres a new radio here? Since this is only a patch OTA it'll have to be flashed over the top of a stock. Working on a flashable right now, any testers?
It is fully rootable btw via revolutionary.

That would be because its not really a full OTA, just an OTA containing patches to already existing files in order to fix small bugs. In fact it doesnt even add new files, just patches pre existent ones which is why it is being a ***** and a half. You have to deodex the patches lol.

New update soon?

People say we should see a new update (OTA) soon now a new branch (JOP40G) has been pushed to the AOSP tree. Has this happened before? And based on previous updates, does anybody have an idea how long it will be before we can download it? Just an idea, of course, "Usually it takes ..".
I understand this isn't 4.2.2, and it doesn't fix bluetooth or the wakelocks. To fix that we have for 4.2.2? So we would get the JOP40G update, then 4.2.2, and then 5.0 in May? That's a crowded schedule...
An update to AOSP does not necessarily mean an OTA will be provided.

Thanks 3rdstring! That makes sense. I just hope they're skipping JOP40G and will be pushing 4.2.2 soon, with fixes for bluetooth and wakelocks. I guess it's not possible for us to know when that's going to happen, so we'll have to wait patiently...

Help with Android N

I just recently decided I was tired of Android N's constant crashing, and my inability to read my notes on OneNote and use the Brave browser, so I unenrolled to go back to marshmallow. My OTA never came, although I waited all night and all day today. How do I fix this?

Will this let OTA updates to continue? I used to flash on my s5 all the time (until I bricked it) but didn't consider it because I thought it would stop updates, I never worried about it on my old s5 since it never got updates.

Yes, the updates will continue, so don't worry about it. And as far as bricking is concerned, you can't brick a Nexus by flashing any firmware/ROM/Updates, until you deliberately damage the hardware.
Otas still work
Did the Marshmallow OTA came now? Just asking because I want to unenroll too.

What would happen?

I am currently rooted with MM on my S7-Edge, SM-G935A and yesterday I got the notification from AT&T that it wanted to update my phone to the newest version of Android, Version 7 (Nougat).
I thought about UN-Rooting my phone and let the OTA finish the process and complete the upgrade. But after looking around there isn't a stable version for Root on Nougat yet for the AT&T Phone, so I think I going to wait.
But my question is if I just let OTA update the phone without Un-Rooting it, what would happen to the phone. Would it just become Un-Rooted and be an Updated Android 7.0? Or would there be problems? I can say for sure that I would not do this as I like having Root Access and I don't think I would like living without Root. But I was just curious what would really happen?
I only have one phone and don't want to mess it up, but there are a lot of people on these forums that experiment with phones all the time.
Anyway, just a question for all of you in the know.
Judging from what happened with a minor update on my at the time rooted s6e, it'll just error out before anything is done due to the engboot not being what it expects.
It checks the hashes of that file and a lot of others before applying the update from what I can tell

Thanks for the reply. That is what I expected. I am not going to try this but like I said just curious. And you answered my question.
Again thanks.
Yup it wouldn't update.
