OK, so I took a few videos and tried playing them back on my PC (XP SP2)
VLC does not include the SAMR codec due to copyright issues. Only way to get it to work in VLC is to build it yourself
Media Player classic also cannot play back the audio (Seems I dont have the codec installed), heres the trace:

After installing the Realplayer alternative codecs it still fails to play back the audio.
The only two ways to play back the video with audio according to a few google searches so far is:
1) use quicktime
2) try realplayer
Problem is I hate both those players and dont want to install them!
Anyone know of any other way ?
I was just about to post about this when I saw your thread.
I would like to convert these videos created by the N1 to a more common format. Unfortunately, my XP computer doesn't seem to have the right codecs, especially the audio.
Is there any way to install the codec needed for playing/converting N1 videos?
The videos play back fine on windows media player 12 (Windows 7).
Will post again when I find a way to convert them to xvid/mp3.
I'm too 3gp video converter does with audio!
Does anyone else know of a way to convert these into a standard format? Everything I've tried seems to fail.
Why the ^%#$%^# do PDA's choose to record video in such a PITA format?
Exactly the same problem in both my Android and my WinMo PDAs.
FINALLY - recent versions of VLC appear to handle these files.

Hi,
I am trying to understand why I can't playback certain MP4 files. I have tried Coreplayer (1.3.0), Pocket player (4.1), WMP and album and none of them are able to playback the files. As they are MP4 files, I thought they would be able to play without needing to be re-encoded. I have patched with Neo's beta 1 driver pack. Details of the media are below:
===========================================================
This one appears to be a straight forward MP4 file. It plays in the players, but only the audio, the video playback is blank. The coreplayer website says it should playback H264 AVC files, so I thought it would play this.

Have you compared the file properties you can't play with the file properties of a file you can? It can give a clue of what's the problem... A bit rate, some format...
As far as I know MP4 is only a container. The streams inside are coded using a codec (e.g. H264, etc...) much like divx coded stream in avi file. So maybe the file you can't play is coded with some codec the player does not understand. Try reencoding it with MP4forHD (can be found around the forum) to x264 stream in .mp4 file and see if it works.

Hi,
sorry for no replies, i've been v. busy at work . I will try re-encoding it and see what happens, but it would be better if I could play them straight.
I am going to convert all my videos to look as good as possible for when my HD2 arrives.
So could anyone help my fill out this chart of the best video format and properties:
Container =
Encoder =
Frame rate =
Resolution =
Video bitrate =
Audio encoder =
Audio bitrate =
Thanks in advance =)

Thanks! But can't you convert better videos on a HD2 with another converting software given that it has better hardware? If yes what will the concrete difference be in the convertion?
EDIT: I have tested the linked software and it returns far from perfect results. I have my own paid converter and would like to give it a try, but I am still not sure if it should be wmv, divx, mpg4(with h.264) or something totally different. I am unsure about the bitrate as well.
Another question that might solve all of this for me. Will the HD2 be able to play this video smoothly without needing to convert:
768x432, wmv, bitrate: 2364kbps, 29fps
and will it be a good idea to convert to 800x480 for better image quality nontheless?
I suppose that is bitrate (2364kbps) is werry high for smooth playback on HD. You must transcode your video with lower bitrate. Touch HD has no right video driver to force video decoding without use a CPU. This is a big problem.

Without owning the device and knowing what hardware acceleration it has and what drivers htc decided to buy for it this is all speculation. But if I were you, I wouldn't waste time converting anything yet. I think there is a strong chance that the HD2 will be able to handle that bit rate.

I did converted this video to fit in 640*480 because I wanted it to play in my ipod classic as well, but if you want it only play in your HD then set screen size to 480*800

When putting a video onto my Galaxy S Vibrant the video works but I have no audio. The audio works on my PC but not on my phone. I followed the below instructions after:
[HOWTO] Convert videos for Samsung Galaxy S using Handbreak.
but the audios still doesn't work. Instead of pure silence however it sounds like the audio is distorted and extremely slow sounding to the point where you cant make anything out. The following is the Audio format:

The music video is playable with dice. There are a few seconds which are not smooth with [email protected], but it's okay.

Its FREE
BsPlayer superiority of the dicePlayer is that the Bs is FREE
Nice find. Playback seems to be better than with MX Video Player because it doesn't skip the audio track during harder to decode portions. I think this is due to the "frame drop" feature.
However, I have one huge problem that makes this app unusable to me, I cannot seek. When I try to seek it just goes right back to the beginning. Is anyone else having this problem or do I have something set wrong in options?
Does this have subtitle srt support?
Yes it does.Local and online too
thanks to bringing this great player up, I'm using it now and I think it's better than moboplayer.
Haven't played too much with this yet but so far I like it a lot. It's also the only free player I have tried that sorts of the bottom bar like the stock player does.

Not many MeMO pad users in this forum, its for the TF101.
Do you have the proper codec installed for your processor?
Hello everybody,
i have a new SM-T585 with Android 6.0.1 (EU) NON-Root and problems with some .ts videofiles from my TV-Headend-Setup.
When i try to play those files with H/W Accleration (MX-Player, BS Player, Kodi) i get vertical lines and screen shuttering (the whole screen with menue). When I try to play those files with SW-Mode the artifacts are gone but i have poor fps-performance.
My Honor 7 with H/W-Accleration has no problems with these files.
Here is one example of the .ts file:
Code:

Has anyone of you made the same experiences?
