I've had my phone for a day.
1)
I installed Handcent sms and it's really sluggish and crashes.
Same for the regular messaging app.
2) when typing a partial name in the "To:" field, it takes about 5 seconds for the list of possible names to show up for me to click. This seems really slow to me. anyone else having this issue?
3.) My phone app freezes sometimes when scrolling through contacts and i have to "wait" or "force quit"
This happens multiple times a day. Anyone else have a fix or suggestions?
I guess no one has an answer yet so i'll just *bump* this so it doesn't get lost other threads...

My Trion is behaving more strangely than normal. It seems reluctant to go into the Text Messaging app. If I hit reply from a popup it just fails to launch Messaging.
I sometimes hit the Messaging button and it starts to load the app, but then gives up halfway through (softkeys show Messaging shortcuts, but the Today screen is still shown). Otrher times it will go straight in.
Bizarre!
I have Good Messaging installed, but I have reset the Messaging button to start MS Messaging. The issue doesn't seem to be related, but you never know.
TIA for any help,
DBo.
I'm not sure if anyone else is experiencing this, but I hope it is not a single problem. The issue is that sometimes when i receive a SMS, the notification shows up on the top bar. I pull that menu down, and sure enough there is a preview for the message, but sometimes if I click on the message, or go into the messaging app, that message doesnt show up in the conversation. This gets very frustrating b/c if I go back to the notifications menu up top, the new message is removed and the SMS seems to be lost forever.
I've had this issue with Handcent, ChompSMS, and also the native "Messaging" app too. Anyone else encounter this? If so, were you able to fix?
I have the HTC Dream from Rogers, rooted.

There was a issue awhile back with early hero builds dropping sms all together but I know yours is a different issue. But I have a similar problem with gtalk sometimes. Whenever someone would log off and log back on and send me a message I will see it in notification bar but not in gtalk. Thought I would throw my 2 cents in.
I wasn't even able to get SMS for some reason, I had an unlocked G1 using AT&T and SMS just didn't seem to work. I didn't know the G1 supported SMS. I'm upset now.
Best of luck for you getting your problem resolved. I would recommend upgrading but if your in the newest update release, I don't know much to say.
Ok, in addition to the major SMS Outbox problem (which incidently hasn't happened for several days now), I've noticed two other minor issues related to the messaging:
A few times I've received a message, and then gone to read the message. I tend to use the Phone Keypad for writing messages.
Anyway occasionally (probably one in thirty texts), when I try to write a reply to the message, when typing on the keypad, it writes the numbers instead of the letters. Changing to another keypad and back doesn't resolve it, only when I exit messaging.
Second issue is sometimes I go to rely to a message, and I try to select where is says tap to compose a message, and it takes a good 3-4 seconds before it response to a tap so that I can actually start to write the message.
Anyone else have any similar problems?
I've also had the numbers problem, I thought it was related the SPB or Resco keyboards I'd installed, but after a hard reset and not installing these apps, it's still there...although only very rarely now
Hey guys & gals,
I am having an issue with most of my incoming SMS text messages not showing up in the Samsung Messaging App (or Handcent) Thread or Folders Views. They appear in the Notifications Bar just fine, but when I tap the Notification Bar and then tap on the Notification itself, it takes me to the Messaging App where I don't see the message at all. I see everything I sent out, but not what comes in (the majority of the time). Some incoming messages do show up in the threads, but most of them don't.
Anyone else having this issue? Any insight? Thanks!
Anyone???
No one has any input, ideas, suggestions, agreements or disagreements? Please!
yea i have had this happen on every device i have owned g1, nexus,hd2(with android) and vibrant. seems to happen every once in a while when it does i just delete the whole thread and they appear again. not sure why this occurs though
I found this very odd, and couldn't find answers to it...but everytime I send a text, I close out to my homescreen and when I go back to the message log, the last text I sent is back in the "input text" part saved as a draft...but the message has sent cause I receive replies back.
This happens EVERY time. I've tried hard reset, I've tried pulling the battery...nothin.
Anyone else experienced this?
Yes, this also happens to me. It's not a bug. When you close out of the Messaging app too fast, it will save the message as draft but it will also send it if you pressed Send. This can get quite annoying sometimes since I'm used to closing out as soon as I send.
