Hey there,just got my Hd2 yesterday,its an awesome phone,however im encountering this problem..When i lock the phone,and keep it idle for some time (10 mins),and then try to unlock it ( slide the tab ) it doesnt respond..I mean the phone just doesnt respond to my finger movements as if its dead..Can you help me out ?

Hello, it's my first message also.
If I understand well what you're meaning, you encounter problems for unlocking the phone ?
I think I had almost the same issue, but figured it out quickly, I think: the unlock slider is special for practical or security reasons. As far as I know (I have the HTC Leo for one month only), the unlock slider needs to be pressed a very little longer in order to become active (it becommes white) before you can slide it right or left.
It's not an issue in the end, but I hope we're talking of the same thing.

When it responds and you can use it normally, you could try a hard reset (Settings>Security> Factory reset)...

I have a erratic fault on my HD2...I can't always unlock the device.
The slide to unlock icon lights but refuses to slide. Sometimes it will eventually slide (after 30-40 attempts) other times I have to either soft reset or remove the battery.
BTW the HD2 is the Australian version that I use in the US to get decent 3G speed.
Try to make a new clear copy ROM.
1) install the SPB Backup
link - CAB (English): SpbBackup2.arm.cab
2) back up custom data orgenaizer Email ( if you need it )
and your document ( if you need it )
3) install your custom ROM that you use right now ... ( hard boot )
Note!
Dont install to many custom themes it slows down the device ( not all but do ) i had some thing like your problem also ...
if this dont work try to install other unlock theme
like the mini hd unlock screen

I installed the mini HD unlock cab as suggested but get the same result. Sometimes it works othertimes it just doesn't react to any finger touch/swipe

No I didn't. So are you suggesting I hard reboot then install the mini screen lock?
I've hard booted before & the problem remained with the standard lock.
Im having the same issue, it will not slide unless you use a different hard key other then the end key and when you hold the end key to power off device the screen will not respond. Ive tried hard resetting also, still no bueno.. any ideas?

ive read that HTC has had an ongoing issue with defective touchscreens so your phone probably needs to be replaced. I had my phone doing this off and on and one evening it just quit working altogether.
I flashed every rom i could find and nothing worked. task 29, MTTY, stock rom...nothing helped. i got a replacement a week ago and its working fine and the screen issues with texting and such are gone where as my original HD2 showed many signs of the touch errors mentioned in other posts!
best guess would be to get the phone replaced!!
I updated my ROM to HSPL but It was running weird so I put the 1.42.0000 back onto it. Now my touch screen will not work at all it works for about 2 minutes then stop all together what can I do I have hard reset it but still nothing.
Please need a reply asap.

From reading this i guess you had a problem before you installed hspl? you may have a got a reply sooner if you had typed the first part of the paragraph as well as the second . Start from the very beginning and go way back past where you installed hspl and tell uncle M3PH what is wrong.
Well, when before I installed it it was been weird every time i pessed the key to go to the lock screen sometimes iwhen I went to unlock it, it would not slide now it is just getting worse.

Sounds like the phone is busy with a background task. The text messaging app can cause this as can the music player or album app when they are scanning for new files. HSPL would not cause this. Try backing up your memory card, formatting it and inserting it into the phone with no data on it. Let me know if the problem persists then (this is only a test to prove if i'm right or not).
It sometimes works now and sometimes doesn't from the lock screen.

I was having the exact same problem with stock ROM 1.66 (so far the only ROM I've been using). I thought it was a hardware failure, but then I turned off all the screen locks there possibly are (Windows classic, Windows standard, CHT's screen lock and even PhoneAlarm's screen lock) and without any lock there is no problem.
Then I've installed S2U2 and so far I've had only one 'freeze' which could be undone by pressing the 'on/off' button, which is a big improvement. Still I need to test this a little longer, because sometimes freezing comes unexpected.

Yes I did, It's working a little bit now not good tho it is still frustration I rang up phones for you were I got my phone from and they sent me an Email with some software to install onto my HTC which apparently should stop it doing this but so far I have not recived the email.
what's the software called?
I don't know I have not received it yet they didn't tell me on the phone.
Hey guys, sorry for putting of "one-of-these" posts, but I've searched as many forms as I could to no avail regarding this particular problem: my lock-screen and my power/reboot screens are completely unresponsive when brought up. Well actually, the lock-screen will unlock with maybe 10-14 tries (by pressing the power button to turn the screen off and pressing it again to turn the screen on) but even thats kind of wonky.
I've flashed every Android Rom I could get my grimey hands on to see if that would fix the problem, and it doesn't, I've even tried dropping back to WinMo 6.5, nope. Now if I flash WP7, than the lock-screen is responsive, but I'm an Androidian and can't use WP7 for more than maybe 20 seconds.
I'm unsure as to whats causing the problem, at first I thought it may just be a hardware malfunction (as I use my HD2 to watch movies and TV shows quite a bit) but after flashing WP7 and finding that to work well I'm at a loss.
I'm running on Magldr 1.12
SPL-2.08 HSPL 8G
If there is anyone who could help, please do, as I love my HD2 flashed with Android....I'd really hate to have to flash WP7 to use my phone.

I read this somewhere so it might work for you. Turn off auto brightness and screen rotation, it supposedly reduces the wakeup lag.

Nvrmnd, it worked maybe for about 4-5 unlocks and now reverted back to the old problem. Power-off/reboot still doesn't work.

This seems more like a bad digitizer....try to press the power button down (kind a hard) and at the same time try to unlock your phone or touch the screen to see if it reacts to your touches and if it does, you have a bad digitizer because the minute you release the power button you are going to have the same issues again...the digitizer connector goes under the power button and it sometimes breaks causing that issue, you need to replace your digitizer, no way around it, sorry.

I can touch any button, the screen in any place, nothing happens.
I only have to remove the battery ( because thre is no reset ).
After strated again, when PIN code is asked, if a tap on "3" for exemple, it is like if i have tapped on "6" ; if i tap on "erase", i see "cancel" highlighted !
And after a few minutes, everything becomes normal again.
An idea ?

Yes, i'm using throttlelauncher with WP7 theme but when the screen is stuck, i have two choices :
Remove the battery to start again, without throttlelauncher started .
Restart the HTC with Mymobiler if the HDmini is connected.
At the end, the problem stays on.
I only have to wait for some time and then the touchscreen works again... by itself !
I haven't tried Throttlelauncher yet. I don't know if that can be the possible culprit.

Maybe your device is blocking so hard that your keys and screen both don't work anymore. I have had that too once Maybe Trottle causes this?

The problem is to be sure that a software is the problem origin; before i ask for the PDA to be replaced by my operator.
Try to do hard reset. Install only the basic stuff. (Minus Throttlelauncher.) See if the phone goes back to normal.

That's a possible option.
Somehow, i'm not allowed to make that kind of suggestion anymore. Someone keeps on following me and make a mockery whenever i mention anything like that.
Anyway, try to check software problem first. As i first did on my own device. Before i've ascertained it is defective hardware.

It is normal, sometimes, it doesn't respond, lame htc hd mini. I have this problem long ago.

Today, the phone is completly stuck.
That's why i don't think it is a software problem.
I can' even entry the PIN code.
i've tried a Hard reset, to flash back to Original Rom = nothing more.
So i've asked Orange for an exchange under garanty...

In some areas, a high percentage of units need replacement.
It started happening maybe 2 days ago. Im running the newest version of Hyperdroid and have never had any problems. Whenever i turn my phone on and attempt to unlock it by either sliding the tab, turning the dial, or sliding the lense down, the screen doesnt respond to my touch. I have to try like 3 times before i can finally unlock my phone, its super annoying.
Anyone have a fix for this or advice?

Set my phone to "menu unlock" but when i put menu, the touchscreen wont work! It's getting really frustrating. Could the phone be going bad?

Your digitizer is dead. If you are still under warranty, I suggest you flash back your WM stock and send your phone back in for repair. Unfortunately, there is no other way around this. Read here for more info http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12105680&postcount=1
