I've got a strange problem with my HDmini :
Sometimes, the screen stops responding !
I can touch any button, the screen in any place, nothing happens.
I only have to remove the battery ( because thre is no reset ).
After strated again, when PIN code is asked, if a tap on "3" for exemple, it is like if i have tapped on "6" ; if i tap on "erase", i see "cancel" highlighted !
And after a few minutes, everything becomes normal again.
An idea ?
Did you install any cab or custom settings?
Yes, i'm using throttlelauncher with WP7 theme but when the screen is stuck, i have two choices :
Remove the battery to start again, without throttlelauncher started .
Restart the HTC with Mymobiler if the HDmini is connected.
At the end, the problem stays on.
I only have to wait for some time and then the touchscreen works again... by itself !
I haven't tried Throttlelauncher yet. I don't know if that can be the possible culprit.

For example, yesterday and today everything was OK and 5 minutes ago, the screen has stuck again !
Nothing possible to do on the screen neither with the 5 keys at the bottom !
I have to connect the HDmini to the PC and reboot it with my mobiler;
then i can use the screen interface.
It seems that the problem is the touch screen !

Try to ask for a new device (if it's still under warranty )

Maybe your device is blocking so hard that your keys and screen both don't work anymore. I have had that too once Maybe Trottle causes this?

The problem is to be sure that a software is the problem origin; before i ask for the PDA to be replaced by my operator.
Try to do hard reset. Install only the basic stuff. (Minus Throttlelauncher.) See if the phone goes back to normal.

That's a possible option.
Somehow, i'm not allowed to make that kind of suggestion anymore. Someone keeps on following me and make a mockery whenever i mention anything like that.
Anyway, try to check software problem first. As i first did on my own device. Before i've ascertained it is defective hardware.

It is normal, sometimes, it doesn't respond, lame htc hd mini. I have this problem long ago.

Today, the phone is completly stuck.
That's why i don't think it is a software problem.
I can' even entry the PIN code.
i've tried a Hard reset, to flash back to Original Rom = nothing more.
So i've asked Orange for an exchange under garanty...
That's a good move.
In some areas, a high percentage of units need replacement.

Hi all.
Just got a JasJam about 2 weeks ago.
I am have a problem with the touch screen.
After about 5 mins of use the touch screen slowly gets more and more unresponsive untill it stops working.
If i remove the battery and let the phone sit for a couple of minutes then restart it the touch screen would start working again. But for only 5 mins.
Is this what everyone is refering to as problems with Screen Allignment or do i have a bigger problem.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem.

Personally i would do i hard reset and not install any additional software to see if you have the same problem. If yes, then its hardware problem and needs to be sent in for repair. If not, then install your programs back one by one to find the culprit.

EDIT: Ensure you back up your data before performing a hard reset. You will lose all information stored on the phone.
Silent_Killa's advice is what I would do. Might try uninstalling apps one by one first??
This is NOT the screen alignment issue - I don't think. It depends if the screen responsiveness going off is actually at the point at which you tap the screen is not matching where the screen responds?? In other words it does respond but not at the location you tap. If this is happening then it is the SA issue, but if the screen does not respond in any way to taps then I doubt it's the SA problem - though could well be a digitizer issue.
I have not searched, but a week or two weeks ago an identical problem was posted by someone else.
If a hard reset does not cure this I would suggest a return as soon as possible.

Yea i trided the whole hard rest thing and it still did the same problem.
The screen works fine but it is just the tapping part that gets screwed up.
All my hardware buttons work ok so i can still use the phone. I just can't use the touch screen.
Do you really thing an application could do this sort of thing.
The main ones i use are -
SPB Diary
SPB Pocket Plus
Spb Weather
Pocket Informant
Are these know to cause any problems.
I will try one more time and not install any apps.
Oh well 2 weeks old and it's off for repair.

BUT surely you tried it for an hour or two before installing anything!!?? And if working then only one application at a time?
No I don't think any of those apps. are the cause of the problem.
You still have not given full details about whether the screen is completely unresponsive or misaligned.
Either way if it's under warranty and hard reset does not cure it, get it returned cos this is not some little software fault.

Yes, it was me (I think), I had this problem too. It was only when the keyboard was slided and locked opened. Button would respond but screen would freeze and the start menu, sometimes, would pop up as an extra.
I had to give it back ...

YEP that is exactly what mine does sometimes. After i open the keyboard the start button would start to pop open and close.
How did you get on. Did they tell you what the problem was.

Sorry, about that.
Full Details-
Screen has no problems with SA. After about 5 mins the screen slowly becomes more unresponsibe. IE i would have to tap the start button several times for it to work. When it finially pops open it just closes again almost straight away.
Not long after this the screen will become totally unresponsive, howver all hardware buttons will still work.
I am going to try a hard reset tonight.
I will let you konw.

I hard reset my phone. When it rebooted and got to the "tap the screen to continue" bit. Guess what it didn't work.
I taped the screen several time but no go. The screen was dead.
I will have to send it back to the shop.

JasJam screen responds to "ghost" taps!
The touch screen on my JasJam responds to continuous taps even when I don't tap it. When the keyboard is slid out, the start menu keeps on popping as if the start button on screen is being tapped. When keyboard is slid inside (device is closed), the device behaves as if the OK button (the "X" on top right) is being tapped continuously. Due to this, I can't open any program. (As soon as a program is opened, the "X" button on top right is automatically clicked and I reach Home screen again!

I have already:
1. Alligned screen
2. Hard reset device (Left and Right softkeys + Reset button)
3. Updated ROM and hard reset device

I seem to be having the exact same problem. When I first got it, I was able to use the phone for a couple of weeks, then all of the sudden, the screen stoped responding, but all the buttons worked. I did a hard reset, and it worked for a little while, then when bad again. At first I thought it was related to ActiveSync because it would always go bad immediately after syncing. However, even when I don't sync after a hard reset it eventually goes bad again. Today I just got it back from manufacturer - they couldn't reproduce the problem. It worked all day. Then I synced. Stupid me. Its not responding again.
There's no way out. Get a replacement.
I'm hoping that my replaced device doesn't have same issue.

I have the same exact problem. I sent back the Phone to Cingular / HTC, and they "repaired" it under warranty. I got the phone bac, and after a day's use, it went back to its old state.
Since I got this on ebay (BIG mistake), even though it was new, its having this problem.
So far i am not at ALL impressed with the 8525. Seems to me like its laden with hardware issues.
Can someone please offer insight as to what I can do?
Sorry to hear that! I had actually purchased i-mate JasJAM from Dubai. i-mate has just one service center in USA (PocketPCTechs in CA). They provided amazingly great customer service and replaced the main board. So far the problem hasn't repeated.

Hey, I am having the same problem as well. Bought my phone on December 06 from eBay seller too. Big mistake as HTC will tell you sorry your warranty is void if you did not purchase the device from the carrier (even though it was new.) I am curious how you were able to get it repaired under warranty since you too bought yours from a third party.
I did the credit card trick and it worked flawlessly for about two months and just yesterday I am back to the same problem. After today doing the credit card trick numerous times I finally got the touch screen working now but who knows for how long this time.
BTW my serial number is in the HT642Fxxxxxx if anyone else that has this problem wants to compare and post theirs.

... I've been thinking about repalcing the display and the touchscreen. But now, considering that it is a HW issue, I can only replace these two things. If the bug is in the module above the screen (statur leds and camera) or related to the wireing at the back of the screen, it won't get rid of the problem. On the other hand, if it is a problem with the screen getting too hot, then I'm on the right track...
Has anyone tried this yet?
I'll try to call HTC on monday, maybe they know where the bug is.

I have my P3600 for only 1 month. The touch screen suddenly has no response without any reasons.
I have tried soft and hard reset but with no luck. Is there any hold button/fuction at the P3600?

You have notice that the menu start pop up with no reason?
Try to place the trinity in a very cold place and tell me if the touch screen function again.
I find that in a warm place some trinity simulates the press of the upper corner sx pixel, so in this case the touch screen not respond and the menu start pop up frequently.
i have this problem, my trinity open the more start menu and the screen not respose. Only recover this problem is remove the battery and wait more hour.....
I have this problem also, bring back to service centre and they said the LCD might me the cause of the problem, replace it under warrenty.
Could you post the S/N and the radio/rom version of the device with the "start menù" problem?
Unfortunatelly I have this same problem, I have read on the internet that when the trinity gets hot it does this because some parts of it extends and puts pressure on the screen top left corner.
I don't know how to fix it but it is a relief that I am not the only one having this problem. I don't know what the fix is but this problem basically renders the phone useless for me.
If anybody has resolved this issue with HTC please let us know.
I don't think it's a pressure problem on the screen.
I have the same problem also with the phone totally open and the screen free of the upper cover.

It's not a LCD Screen problem because i have replaced LCD screen with a new but it's the same problem.
Perhaps touch screen controller on motherboard or touch screen driver (dll) in the ROM.

If I change the viewing mode sidewards, it is the calendar button that pops up all the time., and opens the calendar again and again. You can not control it anymore. Just X all the time. Seems to be software or ?

I wonder if this screen problem is going to be a time bomb for everyone. I don't think it has anything to do with the new ROMs as it is a hardware problem.
I hope it's not like the peeling thing. One started complaining and ten days later everybody was facing the same problem.

Could you explain for what you want to know serial number? This can help or just for statistics? Maybe then everybody will be glad to do it.
I bought the device on Feb 3rd,
and it started on march 3rd when playing a 'tetris like' game. It always opened the 'new game' button on the bottom left, while playing.
I must say, it does not occur constantly! There are times I use my p3600 and it is completly normal. But then just as from ghosts hand the task that is combined with the button in the 'left top corner' (upright position) starts to be pushed.

Simple:i'm trying to understand if it's a problem of specified p3600,or if it's a problem that occurs randomly in all the p3600!
Ok. Lets collect same statistic but lets do it organized. For example my data.
Rom: 1.15.405.5 (HTC) - official (or modified by somebody)
Radio: 1.20.00.11
s/n: HT645FK08xxx
CID/SIM Unlock: No (or "Yes" if you did it and with which method - IMEI or FreeUnlocker)
Screen Protector: Yes ("Brando" mat for Qtek s110/S200)
Issue: "Start" menu pop up very seldom (seldom,often,very often,constantly) while I use stylus to scroll items of field "Play sound" of "Clock&Alarms" Settings, switch "iLauncher" tabs, play "MasterSoft Sudoku" (I list all places where I find out my issue) and I need to tap to "Start" or other place of the screen to close it.
I do not do CID/SIM Unlock and I do not reflash any ROMs. My current ROM is the ROM that was then I purchase P3600.
After I installed new rom on my blackstone a new problem came out...
Time to time something hapens to my touch screen. It gets very very imprecise. For example, when I'm writing a SMS message I press the "V" button but then "G" is written on the screen... But this doesn't happen just when I'm writing a SMS but it happens no matter what I'm doing with the phone... Everything seems to be "shifted"/moved for about 1 centimetre upwards.
I made a hard reset and reinstalled rom but nothing didn't helped...
But it's funny because this isn't happening all the time but just time to time. Then I recalibrate the screen (voUp and voDO + tap the screen) and it helps for a few moments and than the same problem again. Then I'm doing the recalibration procedure till this problem vanish...
What is the problem, how can I solve it???
Please help because it is really annoying...

May be that the change of Rom is only a coincidence?
It is not excluded that the touch screen of your blackstone can be a little damaged.
I have a pda that sometimes have the same problem, but I not updated any Rom to it.
Simply I stressed his touch screen with some abnormal pressure (I think).

It's funny because it works fine all day but suddenly you need to write a SMS or just answer the call, but that is not possible.
Well the screen might been damaged but it's weird because when I start calibrating the screen I tap the cross and it's not moved...

I have same problem and I didn't make any ROM update. I didn't install any new software, but suddenly my screen started to be unaccurate and shifted somehow. calibration helps but after while it's shifted again. I was thinking about updating ROM, but if this is not a solution, then I don't want to ...
Well I send my phone to repair. They said that it was a mechanical issue so I think you should send it also due it looks like this is the only way to solve this problem. I hope you still have your phone under guarantee...
Oh and make sure whether you need original ROM or you may use the changed one, because in Slovenia you need stock ROM and no programs installed (like Garmin etc.). So the best think to do is to hard reset the phone and then send it to repair, so you don't have any problems...

I'd read lots of topics about it but i beleived mine is different?
I was under android when it occur.
My touch screen stop working except a small area in the middle of the screen.
It's look like the calibration was done for this small part of the screen.
I've tried to do a reset => same thing
I've re-install the ROM => the touch screen works for a couple of minutes and then stop except the same small part ???
If i reboot it direcly goes to the small part.
I flash a Signed Ship Rom from my provider it's do the same things? work a couple of minutes on the first boot, and after only the small area ...
if someone got an idea ?

You can workarround by hard pressing in circles over the red button.
It seems that the digitalizer is under that button.
I have test this workarround and works for me.
anyway if you hd2 is in garantee, send it to HTC.

sounds like a fault on the handset which needs to go back to htc to fix

If it's a hardware problem, how do you explain it work fine when instaling a new rom ?
every times it does the same!
First boot work fine for a couple of minutes and block after ! the next boot direcly have the problem.
It's look like a wrong calibration/setup of the digitalizer!!!
? i've done a task 29 . trying to erase parameters that may be setup somewhere in memory.
but still the same !
I don't know how to use MTTY? it's seens to be more powerfull (destructive ) than the task 29 ?
can it be the solution?
I actually had the same thing happen to me... mine was still under warranty so i flashed the original program back to the phone and had them send me a different one... talk about a moment of panic

Now the digitizer stays white but the touch works.
I can't see the window to type my PIN.
Can you help me to fix that problem?

So far as i know is that sometimes the phone just doesn't want to accept the new display and then you gotta perform a soft reset so that old data maybe also related to the display are getting removed and that the phone Might accept the part then. In most cases this works like that hope that it works by you too. if you cant see the window to type your pin then try to find a video or a image from the lockscreen and enter your pin. Maybe you can do it if you can blind remember how it looked like:good:

Press and hold Power Button (around 5 seconds).
Your device will now shut down and reboot.

I clicked the button for 5 seconds. It does nothing,
i have to go to TWRP Mode to do a software reset.
I tryed to fix that problem by charging my phone, Now its fully charged and the display doesnt work now.
How can i do a software reset without a working display?
Is there any method by usb and computer?
