Official Europe ROM with HTC Sense for HTC Magic.
Release Date: 2010-01-28
Sorry I can't provide a download link, as my Magic doesn't qualify.
htc.com/europe
Heres the official HTC mirrors:
Europe Mirror 1
Europe Mirror 2
Are there are way to install this rom ? Because my HTC MAGIC is black it's not vodafone branded but when i write my serial it say "Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device. " I write to HTC and they told me "Your Phone is VODAFONE branded contact to VODAFONE. "
But it's black only HTC brand 32A board..
You still got your phone from VODAFONE if I'm not mistaken, and even if its not loge branded and the ROM is a standard one, the the SN on your phone is registered by HTC as sold to VODAFONE.
So the ROM will most likely work, but it probably got a a perfect SPL.

Guys I bought my htc blackstone from a guy here, and I don't know from where he brought it from.
Now there is a rom upgrade, and everytime I enter the serial number into the htc website to download the rom, a messages in red comes up saying the upgrade is not suitable for your device
can anyone tell how can I know from where this guy bought the phone
thanks
i think this means it is a branded htc touch HD and not sim-free so we would of got it on contract (orange if in uk). The htc website will only give you the upgrade file for sim free HD's not branded (orange or so on).
Not so ...
I have an OEM HTC Touch HD, not branded, no contract, sim free phone, and I get exactly the same message as hykhleif.
It all depends on where the unit was originally distributed. For example, if you're unit was supplied originally in Singapore, you CANNOT get any ROM upgrades from the HTC UK site. You have to get the upgrades from the Asian site that handles Singapore.
As far as determining from where the unit was originally supplied, I don't know if the serial number will give you that information.

rom upgrade can be found in wiki anyhow, and you can use USPL to flash it
Just read up on it and follow guide in wiki or cRaCKwHoRe's guide in my signature
Hi,
My phone is HTC TIM (288MB RAM) 32A. HTC told me ROM upgrade is not available yet for the Italy market. And since the s/n of my phone doesn't work on other upgrade sites, so I can not download the upgrade from other sites.
I was wondering if I can download the ROM upgrade from somewhere else. And if I do so, will that work on my phone?
Please give me links to download ROM upgrade for my phone.
Thanks in advance.
hi.. i wanted to update to the rom version 1.66 WWE from the official htc europe site.. when i enter my serial number, it says "Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device."
can someone please tell me why is this so?
Probably because you don't have a stock HTC phone, but an operator customized one. You'll have to install HardSPL before you can flash any ROM on your HD2 (HTC official, or cooked)
Today I discovered, that the Vodafone RUU can't be applied to my Leo, which I bought though Vodafone. WTH?
(No logos, signs, but added Vodafone keyboard)
ERROR 294 - INVALID VENDER ID
Btw, I can download stock HTC ROMs, but only on Czech HTC website (Czech 1.48 ONLY - DO NOT WANT, ALREADY HAVE) , so I pressume, that my Vodafone HD2 is not Vodafone HD2
EPIC WIN
...
Btw, I want the 1.72 ROM, do I need HSPL?

Which country did you buy your Vodafone HD2 from?
Morning, if you didn't buy you HD2 direct from Vodafone (store or vodafone.co.uk) then you will not be able to flash their 1.72 ROM.
For example you could have purchased a Generic HD2 with a Vodafone contract from a reseller.
edit: HSPL should allow you to flash any rom, so yes that could work.
Also, if you can download updates from HTC directly then you're not using aVF HD2 so that ROM update isn't for you...

If you want the 1.72 ROM, I'd suggest installing HSPL and flashing a custom ROM and radio from XDA Dev. There is no reason for flashing an official ROM over a custom ROM, custom ROMs are far better and faster.
Currently I have the following installed:
ROM: 1.66.405.2 (76641) WWE
Radio: 2.06.51.07
UK unbranded HD2 on o2
Now, a while back I'm sure the HTC support section had a new upgrade. I downloaded it but never bothered to install.
That file is called:
_HTC HD2_RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.66.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.07U_2.06.51.07_Ship.exe
Which seems to be the same as what I've got! Yet when i run that file it says:
PDA Phone ROM Update Utility 3.27.4.3 (is the 3.27 the rom or the version of the update utility?)
Additionaly the date on the HTC site of the update is 2010-01-25 which can't be the one i got before. I'm sure there is a 3. something rom.. ??? Have they taken the newer one down opr something?
Someone please, sort my brain out!! thanks!
3.14 is latest
go back to htc.com and look again at rom updates (support - pick hd2 in phone list - downloads)
The first one listed is an o2 specific update, but that wont work on yours because as you mentioned you actually have an unbranded hd2 (because o2 couldnt buy them and brand them quick enough for demand early 2010)

sorry to charge in here with what may seem a very daft question but how to tell if your hd2 is branded..or not. Do you mean the actual device casing is Unbranded (as is mine) but i still have the 02 splashscreen when the device boots up. Again sorry for my ignorance but is my splashscreen indicitive of my phone being o2 branded or is it (should be) printed to the casing of the phone?
thanx
it has the o2 splash so its almost certainly branded. its the rom thats branded not the casing, and by branded we mean you get your updates through your provider (or select the provider branded rom on the HTC website, to be more accurate). Your phone will only accept roms signed by your provider, unless you use sspl/hspl, and vice versa, an unbranded phone wont take provider roms.
Some providers dont brand them, virgin, i believe dont brand them.
Also called rom lock or rom locked, or provider locked.
to be sure, go HERE (assuming you're uk) and try download teh top entry using your real serial number. its a branded 3.14 o2 rom, so if it lets you, your phone is branded. if it doesnt let you, its not, and you should use the one pointed out above, the generic wwe.
just as extra info, before 3.14, if your phone was branded you got different versions, so a generic 1.66 rom was 1.72 for branded phones. Same rom, just with o2 junk.
I don't have any branding to the case OR the software, to be honest i don't think i could stand either.. I've always bought my contracts from carphonewarehouse and every phone they have supplied me with is unbranded.
Always on O2, all my previous Nokia handsets were the same.
Perhaps like the previous poster said i don't give them a chance to get their software on, i'm always straight off the mark with brand new releases

all yea thats why you use generic wwe roms. cpw sell unbranded phones, and sometimes lock them to a carrier, often dont. But either way, the phone would still use generic non branded roms. rom lock and carrier lock/sim lock are unconnected.
