(In UK)
Okay, put my O2 unlimited sim in (from my old BB).
How do I setup internet?
I can't see the O2 logo - how do I know it is on it?
Thanks.
The internet worked on 2 other unlocked phones which I used this same simcard on - is there something extra I have to do to get it to work on the N1?
Ok, I added wap.o2.co.uk as an APN and the internet is working - As far as I am aware, this service was included with my contract so cool!

I am trying to configure my wizard (8125 lokiwiz unlocked) to work on my tmobile data plan.I don't have the unlimited internet and hotspot plan for tmobile, i have the unlimited WAP plan. I just can't figure out how to get it to work, the tmobile tech people didnt sound experienced with the wizard but they said its possible. Do any of you know teh correct settings and how to enter them. I was able to work it out on WM2003 but WM5 is really confusing. Perhaps someone with an MDA and the similar plan could let me know what theirs is configured for.

I saw the issue of tmobile's WAP discussed I believe on howardforums.com . At least from what I remembered from the discussion was that tmobile was to be fading out its WAP service which also had unintended consequences for people using tmobile's blackberry sevices. I did however download the tmobile cab files from club-imate which placed a wap configuration for tmobile in My Work Network configurations setup. Good luck.
Bro, its simple, go to settings, connections, connections, then add a new modem connection, Then put in where it says "enter a name for the connection" T-Mobile GPRS Wap" or what ever your want. Then below select GPRS where it says select a modem. click on next after that and enter in wap.voicestream.com then click on next and then finish. You do not need to put anything else in. Thats it your are done. I have five PPC from the XDA on up and no problems on any.
Cheers,
Mike
thanks mike, hmm now the phone just says locating... if i try to load a wap site like wap.yahoo.com for instance. I am connected to the GPRS connection, its just not loading up sites.
hey eb, was that cab from an original tmobile rom, or was it part of the euro tmobile roms that was just released. I have been looking for a copy of the tmobile rom from back in nov.

The tmobile cab I got from clubimate is for the US, and as far as I can tell it is not the euro tmobile settings. I also tried the wap connect and got dumped into my GPRS connection to. The steps Mike described is how it looks in my network connections. I remember back when tmobile was voicestream and using my laptop via cellphone to connect, one had to start at voicestream's wap home page. Just a suggestion.
try a differnt AP like internet2.voicestream.com
some people have had success using that....I myself discourge this, however, it works it works...
internet2.voicestream.com or internet3.voicestream.com will only work if you have a tmobile unlimited internet account which is 19.99 a month not a wap account. What services are on your account?
mike you're right....i thought he had the 19.99 unlim internet plan...i think he needs a t-mo proxy for it to work....i'll google this and post back later...
okay here's what i found....i think the proxy thing is the what might be relevant..
http://www.mobilegadgetnews.com/lofiversion/index.php?t9404.html
That is correct, for the wap, and mms the proxy has to be put in. I am soooo lazy. I reflash my Universal so much, I got tired of putting the mms setting back in. LOL
Mike
hmm so after messing around with more settings, still nothing works. Perhaps its because im trying to connect to restricted WAP sites. anyone know the tzones website/homepage? Or perhaps someone that actually has the correct settings for $9.99 tzones on a WIzard can help me with the settings.
Just put out 19.99 and you will have full access!

I was told they no longer had the 19.99 plan, that it is only the 29.99 plan. What's the trick to still getting the 19.99 plan?
Dawm that includes hotspots now. I was paying 19.99 for gprs and 19.99 for hotspot service. Heh. I guess they don't have 19.99 gprs internet only now. Sucks. But thanks, I am going to call and save 10.00 a month. hehe
Mike
They are getting rid of the back door to using the WAP as online access for the PDA's. They are going to go to the full data. You will have to have the 29.99 Total Internet Plan which is unlimited data and email and hotspot. There were a lot of people paying the lower amounts and trying to use it on the PDA and it was causing issues and the data group had to try and solve them and there were things that just couldn't be solved becuase the provisiong of the WAP is different then the internet2.voicestream.com. Just pay the 30 bucks and get it all.
I got myself a payg sim to use in my tytn thinking that I would have access to HSDPA; however I found the following article about having to enable HSDPA on your T-Mobile SIM to take advantage and only then it looks like contract.
http://msmobiles.com/news.php/5536.html
Does anyone else have experience with a T-Mobile PAYG sim and do you have HSDPA enabled?
I've got one and it worked on HSDPA straight out of the box.
Phil
Well I got a Vario II and WnW pro and was getting .3Mbps until I phoned them. The girl on support was trying to get a techie but couldn't and said she would try to get hold of someone and call back. The next time I tried a speedtest an hour or so later I got 1.1Mbps.
yeah i just realied te hsdpa service wasnt added on my vario II line either.... ( i hope they activate it by default on new connects, mines been through a few price plan changes in the last few months )
getting onto it now though,
does anyone know if thats good for PAYG as well? I presume everyone below is talking about contract.

Mine was a new contract - so not always it seems.
My post above was not clear. My Tmobile payg card works with HSDPA without having to get get anything switched on.
Phil
I found out today from T-Mobile Cutomer Rep (and confirmed in Store) that T-mobile PAYG cutomers are not connected to the HSDPC network, thats for contract only though payg can access standard 3g services.
Hey all - just got my unlocked wizard from ebay... it's a t-mobile device (has t mobile logo on it) but receives calls etc fine when I put in my att sim card, says its on ATT network, etc.
Only thing it is having trouble doing is connecting to the mobile data (it says its trying to connect to t mobile MMS - GPRS)... how do I set this device to connect to att's data network (i dont think they use gprs do they?) so I can send MMS messages?
Also.. my exchange provider said I need to upgrade my software on the mobile device if I want to use exchange push email... I need to get the "AKU2" update... now when I do this, if available, do I get this from ATT (because they are my provider) or t-mobile (because the device is t-mobile) ??
Thanks for reading the newbie questions... love the device though!

also, i'm not upgrading from a former at&t plan.. my sim card says cingular, then they became ATT... so i was just saying ATT because cingular is now ATT
so I have a cingular sim card trying to access cingular/att network with the t-mobile device. Can you advise per my original post given this info?
See if I hit your link... following the docs...I don't have (GPRS/3G) as a choice... just Cellular Line (GPRS) .. what can I do??
Under where it says "Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using:", select "New".
General Tab:
Enter a name for these settings: mMode
Modem Tab:
Add “New”.
Enter a name for the connection: mMode
Select a modem: Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)
I use a T-Mobile MDA on the AT&T network as well, using a Cingular SIM.
A quick way to set the Media settings on the MDA is by running "Cingular WAP MediaNet MMS Settingsv2.cab" linked here.
If that link doesn't work, it's attached in the second post of this thread.
Thanks!
The .CAB worked like a charm.
Saved me from pulling my hair out!

OK So I have the T-Mobile Wing, I had it unlocked and am going with Cincinnati Bell now because they have an Unlimited EVERYTHING plan for 60 a month. So Ive unlocked the network and everything works fine except WAP Internet. It connects to get my GMAIL ok. But when I attempt to load IE and a website. It says cannot find page. Heres the WAP setup settings i used. I know the Wing isnt the p5500 but its similar and the settings are the same throughout every phone. Anyone able to help me? Cincinnati bell tried to tell me my phone was incompatable with their network, but then the wanted to sell me a phone lol. Like I said EVERYTHING works except WAP Internet......
Bought an HTC SIM-Free Touch HD.
Transferred Pre-pay Contract Web'n'Walk SIM from T-Mobile MDA Vario III (HTC TyTN II/Kaiser), which has been working very well for over a year, worldwide. In the HD the Internet data connection is very unreliable. It hardly ever connects first time; and loses connection frequently e.g. after 5 or so web pages. Sometimes the "Number Dialled, cannot connect" bubble appears; sometimes just obscure messages like "cannot connect to web page". Resetting or restarting the radio does not help as normally the first connection fails. Persistence usually works i.e. after about 8 re-tries a page will be loaded or whatever other data request is being made. I have scoured the internet, XDA and other support forums and tried various connection setups. I hoped the April ROM update would fix it, but it made no improvement. The T-Mobile SIM also works in my Sony Vaio which has an Option internal 3G modem.
I tried an O2 phone contract SIM: worked perfectly, but cost me a fortune in data charges just to prove to myself it worked in various places, including in cars and trains. I bought a Vodafone PAYG USB Stick and have used the SIM from that faultlessly for £10 out of the first £15 for 1Gig of data (of course there is no phone service). I tried a data SIM from a T-Mobile USB 3G Stick, and that showed the same symptoms as my T-Mobile Phone Contract SIM. So it seems to be T-Mobile connections, not the particular SIM.
I want to use my T-Mobile Phone SIM as I can use it overseas, I know the phone number, and I am on contract so I am paying for it, including unlimited internet, anyway. However there seems to be a mismatch between the Touch HD and the T-Mobile service. The T-Mobile SIM works fine in other devices (originally an MDA Pro, HTC Universal); and other carriers work fine with the HD. Is there a registry tweak or some other modification I can make to make this work? Thanks
hi i used these settings
for web'n'walk users, use the following credentials
Connects To: The Internet
Access Point: general.t-mobile.uk
username: t-mobile
Password: one2one
DNS: as per above
Note: The DNS settings above are for OpenDNS servers, which have shown to improve the performance of web browsing on the T-Mobile network.
Adding the following Header to HTTP Requests disables the Image Recompression and Improves Page Loading Time. However only Desktop Browsers and PIEPlus have a option to add additional headers.
Cache-Control: no-transform
hope it helps
Thanks. I'll give it a try.
'fraid that did not help, but:
1) received SMS from T-Mobile yesterday saying that they would be improving the network over the next few days to improve connections, so maybe I've been suffering faults they are now fixing, and
2) learnt that Orange and T-Mobile use 1800MHz whilst O2 and Vodafone use 900MHz so perhaps the 1800MHz reception of the HD is marginal.
Will keep an eye on T-Mobile but contract runs out soon so have signed up with O2 Simplicity (SIM_only) plus unlimited Web for £17.38 per month on month only commitment contract - works fine.
Thanks for the help.
