For some funny reason, my phone is ok on all accounts except for 1 feature: The clock tends to go from pm to am all of a sudden, for no reason. e.g. if the current time is 10 pm, suddenly it may become 10 am, and I have to reset it. This goes on several times a day. I spoke to HTC customer service, we went through all our settings, and they could not find out why.
Can someone please help me out ?
hi again, can anybody please help ?

Hi,
I've just bought a new Touch HD. Yesterday I synced with my work PC and all went well. I then took it hone and created a partnership there too. The idea is that all 3 should keep the same data. After a lengthy wait the sync completed (I haven't checked how successfully), however I've noticed an debilitating issue. When I connect to activesync (including work) the time on the THD is set 1 hour forward. We are not in a DST zone (Brisbane +10:00) and I can't find any settings to allow me to manually turn it on or off if I wanted to. The problem is that when my calendar items are synced they are also 'converted' to the new times which are 1 hour forward. Very frustrating and annoying.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Jason
Same happens to me (GMT+1) but without a pattern: only now and then. And obviously, the calendar is screwed up: bithdays (that are whole day appointments) are spread across two days. Tried disabling the auto DST, but no joy: now and then it still happens
The problem seems to be in the firmware itself. Hacking the registry only works until the next power-off/soft reset.
Need somebody to cook the switch out of the ROM.
I'm in your same boat buddy. Set your timezone as Vladivostok. It's the same time as Brisbane and it seems to have no bugs with its lack of DST.
In Active Sync try disabling the "Sync Time when connected" option.

Does my TimeSyncTZ App Help? (Link in Sig)

Have you tried some of the steps in this Link: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/microsoft/daylight-savings-update.mspx
Thanks

Thanks for the tips, Dave: cool app, TimeSyncTZ. Only thing i notice, it cannot send time query via ActiveSync connection, only wifi or phone. Or i miss something?
About the bug, i'm not the best one to test, since as said it happens only every now and then. We'll see

I'll try and look into the AS bug for you. I'm having connection issues with another guy and that is my main focus at the moment.
Dave
Thanks Dave; anyway not a big problem: when i want to sync time, i can simply use wifi (with "about the bug" i meant the appointments shift one, not the TimeSync AS problem)

Thats Ok, so long as you know I meant I'm looking at the bug with my connection code, not with the Windows Time Zone problem
Dave
I have the same issue - but changing the timezone to Vladivodstok (GMT+10) does correct the time on the phone, and the appointments (-1 hour) as well. When you update the timezone, the time and appointments are instantly corrected, so this must mean there is a 'bug' in the timezone definition for Brisbane (GMT+10). I have emailed HTC about this.
Thanks fredskis!
Cheers,
Walter
this bug happens with every timezone. Im afraid htc can not help. This is a problem between AS and MSoutlook when you sync with more that 1PC SINCE YEARS !!! If this happens on your Pc I give you a good advice: dont waste time to try the solutions offered by MS (delete pim in Outlook, ect.) . You will have no permanent succsess. So sync apointments only with 1 Pc and you can trust that the displayed apointments are correct and not messed up.
Same Problem !
Just purchased HTC Touch HD - Same problem encountered. arrrr ! I'm in Brisbane too. I have downloaded TZedit.exe from Microsoft. I intend editing the Vladivostic zone on the P.C. and try that. I'm convinced the problem is with the HTC time zone handleing, though, not the P.C. This HD is replacing a Jas Jam (Also HTC) and it didn't exhibit the problem. The problem can be identified by the going to "Visiting City" in the Clock tab. If you set Home as "Brisbane" and visiting as "Sydney" and then change the time in Brisbane, you'll notice the Sydney time (dim) EXACTLY tracks the Brisbane time. This should not happen. There should be a tracking difference of one hour. The Jas Jam worked perfectly in this way. I'm not holding my breath on HTC to involve themselves with this. What we need is a TZedit program for a PDA, or at least for a HTC Touch HD.
Same Problem but slightly different
Hi - I don't know what else to do - have spent hours of searching and reading support forums etc and cannot find any answers to this one.
My *NEW* HTC Touch HD (Telstra 8285 Model) has an even bigger problem..
I am only able to set the Home time zone as "Sydney"
I can change this to whatever city I like - even Brisbane - however after each "Soft" reboot it reverts back to "Sydney"
Is this an issue with HTC or with Telstra or with Windows OS.
Have tried all three and each blame each others software/hardware for the fault.
Anyone out there that can help me move from "Sydney" back to my hometown of "Brisbane" - it is there to view so I can only asume it should work.
Thank you in advance.
Time zone changing
I live in Belgium Time zone set to Paris, Madrid GMT + 1.
Every so often for no reason that I can detect the time zone changes to Windhoek, I've tried multiple active sync's with 2 machines, soft-resets but can't make it happen, but then suddenly without doing anything special the timezone will change. Does anybody have any ideas about this?
This is driving me crazy.
There is no rhyme or reason to it. It happens with any ROM, with any number of applications running and at any time. I can not pinpoint any specific activity that triggers it.
I'm on my eighth ROM at least and it is still happening, driving me crazy. Current ROM is Miri WM 6.5 21887, V 34.0, Radio is 1.17.25.09, SPL is 1.56.OliNex
My problem is this; I live in the Pacific Time Zone (GMT-8) For no apparent reason, after some time, my location for the clock only changes to Eastern Time Zone (GMT-5) My clock is then three hours off. I change the location settings under Time/Date back to the PST zone and it sticks for a short while but then later I check my time and BAM, it's back to thinking we're on the eastern seaboard.
If you have any idea what could be causing this please share with me. I've done hard resets up the yingyang, back to stock several times, etc. etc. Believe me, I've spent days and days trying everything I could think of.
Thank you so much if you can help me.
Just a thought: could this be related to the "My Location" feature ? I mean, if all the ROMs behave the same, it is, obviously, not a software problem and it cannot be a hardware problem. I'm thinking maybe the GSM towers, or maybe the IP address of your Internet connection are (erroneously) identified as being in the GMT-5 timezone. Try disabling My Location and all the services related to it (weather updates and stuff) and see if this happens again. I would really be interested to know if this will solve your problem, because I've had a discussion with someone concerning the My Location service and the possibility of such a problem occuring.
Hope to hear good news from ya !
I did try the location services on and off and it had no bearing on it. But, crazy as it is, it just stopped doing it after I posted this and has been good so far. I can't explain it. The only thing I changed in that time period was downgrading the radio so maybe that had something to do with it but I can't see how. I'm on 1.14.24.25 right now so I'm not going to mess with it.
Thanks for your suggestion, I should have mentioned that I did try deactivating the location services in my original post.
so this happened last night and i thought i fixed it with some tweaks such as telling the phone to get time from the internet.
the issue is from some people just after midnight and i guess for a little while the texts think they are coming from "yesterday" at the same time.
so i have to scroll up a day to find their text.
anyone hear of this?
anyone with the phone have this happen to them?
so for the 3rd night in a row is happening.
i just went to phone settings and turned off time synchronization.
but whenever i reset the phone that setting automatically rechecks itself.
i just turned on the setting in sense to get time from the internet and that hasnt seemed to help
anyone that got the us hd2 let me know
You can try the fix I've made and see if it helps you... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6116612
Your problem is not exactly what the fix aims to fix, but it should work too...
I'm having the exact same problem. Very annoying. I'll give the cab a try and see what happens tonight
worked for me. thanks!
As the title says, sometimes all of no where my sms that i recieve would be 2 mins behind the time on my time on the phone
idk but today it went back a whole day so every messege would be dated 4/10 when today's date was 4/11 and it drove my crzy and i can't fix it unless i bring my clock date to 4/10 so idk what to do i deleted all my sms to c if that helps but no luck
please help
thanks in advance
jim
I have the exact same problem, my recieved sms times is set back by one hour.
There seems to be two clocks on the device, it also confuses one of my apps. But not my alarm etc.
anyone have a clue?
r
am still trying to figure it out so far it automaticly fixes the problen but not permanent do idk
Go into settings then to data services and to internet time synch and put check mark in the "get time from internet" That fixed it for me
I've recently started to have odd time related things happen on my HD2. Alarms set for 4:45, for instance, go off at 3:45 (not always; just occasionally). With my local time set to US Central Daylight Savings, times for other zones, including Eastern in the US and Central America are off by an hour (fast).
Anyone have an idea of what settings I should check?
The real oddity is that these times change from day-to-day or even during the same day. Today for instance, the times in other zones were off in the morning, but show correctly this afternoon.
Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Is this a custom ROM? I know I've seen several chefs posting changelogs like "Timezone issue fixed, hopefully" lately.

Standard ROM. This morning all times are correct. ??? Can't figure it out.
could it be your pc is causing it? i once came across a situation where the user had chosen 'no' when his pc had asked him 'do you want to automatically adjust for summer time', and he set the pc time manually himself, , but this then sent his phone wacky because it WAS trying to auto adjust, but every time he synced it would move back an hour, and then re adjust when he restarted it (the phone), and so half the time it was an hour different than the PC.
Probably a long shot, but your post brought it to mind.

I have my PC clock set to automatically adjust for DST. So far today everything is correct. Just plain odd.
Thanks for your reply.

are You experimenting with android? it's my main suspect. on my device I set g-alarm for 5:00 am just to be surprised with alarm at 6:00 am. :/
today I am testing my hd2 again w/o any androboots during the day. we shall see...
just to let You know, today everything was as it should be. ... I don't like android that much anyway...
