100% no it's not mate. The HD2b will be on sale in the US for T-Mobile customers only, and it won't be out for ages yet anyway.

That's not fair , really !
But is there a possibility to like boost up the ROM in the current device ?

Since when has the combination of technology and capitalism ever been fair?
T-Mobile paid HTC to do it, rumour has it that the ROMARAM is partially locked and a new radio unlocks more but that's not been confirmed. The European version is fine, really don't hesitate on getting it. 3months is a long time in the industry.

Definitely - the device does not need more RAM as it stands. It runs as smooth as anything.
And ROMARAM... that's NEVER gonna get old! lol

Now I just gotta check if they sell it in Kuwait , but if I order one from like amazon it will work here in Kuwait right ?

Chinese Xperia = no wifi?

Hi everyone, I am very close to deciding on buying an X1. I stopped by a mobile phone "mall" in shanghai today and heard a few rumors about the wifi being disabled. One seller said you could turn it back on by re-flashing the rom, while another said it's impossible to do so since the chip is removed.
I know that some Chinese market phones have had chips removed for use in mainland China, but from what I gathered, the X1s here are all sui huo (gray market imported) and flashed. Is it really possible that there's a Chinese market X1 with wifi chips removed?
I'd like to hear from someone who bought a phone here and successfully turned the wifi back on (or if it was never turned off in the first place).
The prices I got today were very enticing. I'm ready to go back tomorrow but I need an answer for this issue first. I've already downloaded the roms and hardspl, etc.
Thanks for the help!
If the deal is too good to be true, it is probably a fake X1

Around 500-550 usd. It's not too good to be true, but it is pretty good. But I do have concerns about where these phones originate from. I am not sure if an extra 300 dollars (from sonystyle in the states) is worth forking over.
Or maybe I'll just go on Tao Bao (ebay-like site) and get an x1i from singapore.

The Wifi is part of the Qualcomm chipset so impossible to remove from the phone... the fact that they don't know this would put me off from using them...

I think the last time i was there they didn't have the x1 anywhere on display. I hope they don't, because if they "officially" sell the phone here then there might really be a chinese market x1 with gimped hardware. I think there's an actual sonyericsson store in metrocity too. But no x1 when i visited a little over a month ago.
I think for an extra 50usd, it might be worth having the extra peace of mind getting it from this guy:

First, you won't get an official X1 here in china, because a news was coming out that X1 is not going to be on market in china mainland.
Second, nobody is gonna remove the chip, why do they have to? Take time and effort to reduce the value? I don't think so!
Third, and this could be the basis, you can distinguish X1 with the fake one, can't you?
Of course, don't expect you get X1 with a much lower price, but you don't have to pay more to buy mind peaces, bring someone who speaks chinese, talk to the seller, you will get a good X1, nice and cheap!
The silver also has cover-scratched problem ,the same as the black....

At the time I wasn't confident, walked out and said I'd do more research on the wifi thing. So here I am.

No more Branding for HTC's @ T-Mobile

Hello Forum!
Maybe you all already knew, but for me it was news.
The HTC HD2 will be the second HTC device which will not be branded by T-Mobile. First device was HTC Touch2. Is this the end of HardSPL? At least it is the end of bleeding eyes due to Magenta poisoning....
By the way. They start shipping the Leo`s November 18th, for 599 Euros (no contract).
Greetings,
Studebaker
where did u get that information? homepage says no date or prize... hope u are right
Im glad that they are nolonger rebranding the HTC phones. At last we will be able to go straight back to HTC to get the 2 year warenty being that T-Mob doesnt give a crap about this. My T-Mob branded diamond is not older than 2 years and the gps has died on it, of course T-Mob, doesnt care.
no branding in GER anymore:

T-Mobile UK added this week to their website, for the first time, an option to choose an HTC mobile when looking for mobile phones. I think the rebranding times are gone. Well, at least the HD2 photo they have has no magenta - and only shows up when you look it on HTC mobiles, not on T-Mobile mobiles, thank goodness. I don't know how could T-Mobile think that magenta was a great colour for their MDA's. Were they blind or something!?

Which HD2 should I get

I want a HD2 to use with at&t 3g the t9193 model but cant decide if I should buy the australian version or if I should spend a little more money and get the version that on the go solutions has. I cant post a url for being a new member. but its the version on the fist page of their website. I have read alot into getting this phone but dont think I am capable of flashing the phone and or getting rid of the telstra bloatware. I like the conveniency of everything being done but is it worth paying 900$ for. Thank you.
I wouldn't worry too much about the telstra bloatware... You can uncheck any of the sense tabs that are telstra related and you can run a fix that allows you to remove the top 3 (of 9) links on the home tab as these are normally locked to telstra related items...
I noticed that your radio and rom are both stock for your hd2a. Are u using at&t and if you are is it running good. Can u get rid of that blue telstra home screen and get the nice black one.

I have got US-Tmobile HD2 and it works great. No issues - but since you are planning keeping your AT&T service, I think that paying $900 for HD2 is way beyond any normal acceptance.
Don't get me wrong - I love my HD2 and plan to keep it at least 1.5-2 years... BUT:
6.5 will be dead pretty soon...
Many more phones are coming out for better price than $900 and having better hardware functions as well...
If I was stretched between AT&T and having 3G needs on it - I would consider good unlocked Android phone...
Just my $0.02
I want my Hd2 to run like the verizon Hd2 how difficult would this be to setup and do you think someone new to this would be able to complete the installation without messing something up? Any input helps thank you. looking into one on ebay but dont want to miss it before the sale is up. Thank You.
does no one want to help me out
I have been weighing the same options over the past few weeks. I have a FUZE. and I am sick of it...lagging, quirky and so on... I want a new phone (and really the HD2) so badly that I was even considering just buying the TMO HD2 for use on ATT to save money and just deal with no 3G speeds.
In the end I have decided to be patient. WP7 is coming out in October or so. If those phones (fast processor, big screens, other cool features) are desirable for my needs and get good reviews - then I might go that way.
At that same time - because of the new OS and Phones release coming in october ---the then technically obsolete WM 6.5 phones should go down in price...including the HD2. So that is my advise - wait and see how it plays out if you can wait until october.
Do not know how accurately this will all pan out - but I can just not bring myself to pay more ($750.00+) than I would for a full blown laptop for a phone (even though I use it more!)
BTW - I guess I never answered the question...and that is if you are not familiar or comfortable with flashing - then the extra money for the OTG solutions full version as an insurance policy against you bricking it is worth it..
Good Luck

The main problem is whether you buy the t9193 or the tmous hd2, you'll never get 3g on AT&T's network. The U.S. GSM network is slightly different when it comes to 3G specs with the rest of the world and there T-Mobile's network is different from AT&T's 3G network.

[Q] Will the US VP's 3G work in Europe?

So according to the other thread the US version would have 850/1700/2100.
Would that work in Europe? (Netherlands/Belgium/Germany) Or just in the US?
Sorry if this has been answered before. Can't find a clear overview anywhere.
EDIT: Found out that European HSDPA is 1900/2100. (1900 being for upstream 2100 for downstream). Does that mean I can still use 3g but only downstream?
The US version has 900/1700/2100 - it can for sure be used in the UK
I don't know what bands the rest of Europe uses
The australia version is advertised as having 1900/2100

Smart man will probably need a US credit card though?
Think I'm going to buy an HTC Trophy anyway, because then I can get it today, won't have to worry about minor hardware mistakes or other warranty related stuff... And I'll have it today
Just played around with it in a store and I fell in love immediately with the OS. Couldn't see the phone anymore, so I figured it's not worth the hassle.
Out of interest, why go for the Trophy over the HD7? I only ask as I've been trying to work out what benefits it would give. I'm assuming here that you're buying the phone outright and so it's not a case of it's the only model you can get from your operator.

Excellent Got a Trophy now, but the VP might make a nice present
WP7 is absolutely stunning though. Really the reviews weren't kidding! Walked by someone with an iPhone 4 yesterday, and was surprised to see the relatively jerky menus compared to the WP7's. That put a nice cherry on top for me

Looking to a buy an HD2. Anything to look out for?

Hey guys, sold my iPhone 4 2 weeks ago for $550, it was unlocked, so its value increased since I bought it in December.
Anyway, I was getting tired of boring old iOS, and the screen was too small as I have huge hands, so I switched to a galaxy S 4g. Didn't really like the phone that much, and the dev community is still growing with it. Plus my dad really liked the phone, so I gave it to him for his birthday
I've been bouncing around from device to device, blackberries, other htc android phones, but none of them really satisfy my need for a nice phone. I wanted the HD7, but then I ran into some videos of the HD2 running windows phone 7, and I looked here and there are 4 or 5 different OSes this phone can run, so I've decided this is the phone I want.
I've been searching craigslist for some devices, and I like when people include the box and original accessories because that shows to me they care about their stuff, which means the phone probably was babied.
So I ran into a few, and this one guy has one that is stuck on the boot screen. Is this fixable? Although I probably shouldn't consider it as I can't test the touch screen, buttons, and the earpiece and microphone.
But my real question is, is there anything I should look out for when trying to purchase an HD2? TIA
I would NOT buy any phone that is "stuck at bootscreen" or anything like that, because that could be a hardware failure.
You want a phone with no nicks or dings, but when you turn it on you want to do something very processor heavy and make sure it does not freeze (would be an overheating hardware issue some HD2s have).
play a movie or stream netflix (if it's running android or WP7) or do other processor heavy things for a minute. If it does not freeze or reboot then you should be fine.
wanto to buy usa version
Hi,
can I buy the usa version with 1gb rom and hope to get it working on italy?
does anyone tried it ?
thanks !
as orangekid wrote you should be very carefully about freezes ( overheating issues ), also try to find a US tmobile version ( i has more rom space 1 gb - eu version 512mb).
BUT remember the Tmobile US version ONLY works on tmobile 3G bands. I don't know of a single international network where you will get 3G bands working.
1GB ROM is better, but 3G is also better...
Thanks for the info guys. I'm actually from the USA and on T-mobile USA, but I don't use data. I may purchase the $10 200mb plan just to test the phone when I buy it.
So overheating seems to be an issue huh.
Should I put a movie on a microSD and play it back on the HD2 I'll be buying? Just to test it of course. I don't know how to do processor intensive things on WM 6.5.
And the US version has the 1GB ROM? Does that mean it is compatible with all OSes hacked for the HD2? Is there a specific way to tell if its the US version? Would the fact that it is branded as T-mobile at the top be enough evidence?
As I said, I'd like to at least test run WP7 on it, if not, I'd probably stick with a gingerbread ROM.
It will come with Transformers 1and 2 installed on the SD.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA Premium App
That is if they haven't deleted them =|
I'll just put a movie on my current microsd card. What kind of movie file does it need to be?
I've bought about 6 hd2's, I would recommend, you take out the battery of any device you are looking to buy, if it won't boot after reinserting, you're being sold a lemon...the creeps have figured out how to make it work just long enough for a sucker to buy...this is true of the touchscreen of death models..buyer beware..

No you are mistaken
TMOUS HD2, works in INDIA with all 3G networks perfectly
i use one and have 3G running on almost 5 Different providers( AIRTEL, DOCOMO, AIRCEl, VODAFONE , BSNL ), funny thing is in INDIA all network providers are allocated the same 3G spectrum, so you can have one device and use any network"s SIM with 3G
have fun
Just wanted to let you guys know, I'm heading out to purchase a HD2 right now. No box and accessories, just a charger, but hey, I'm getting it at a great price. It is running android 2.2 however. Means this guy has been messing with it.
I'll pull the battery and reboot the phone, and then I'll insert my microsd with a movie on it. See if it freezes.
When it freezes, is it like lag, or does it just freeze and not change the picture on the screen?
Also, I will have internet. Is there anything intensive I can do using internet? Leaving in 30 minutes so yea...lol

Mine worked perfectly in Germany (O2) and Poland (Play) so I guess Italy should be OK.
HD2 is a great phone...
I bought my first hd2 like 1 month ago... previously i have a Touch PRO with wm6.5 and android... but wanted to get a larger screen and try wp7, but i was afraid of not liking the wp7... so i get the hd2 and i'm very happy with it... actually have WP7 + ANDROID (RAM Build)... both are stable and fast... so happy....
And 3G is not a problem with a TMobile HD2... im in Brazil and working fine...
Thought I'd update everyone with what I did.
Ended up finding someone interested in this Blackberry Tour 9630, no wifi, just a charger and phone, for his HD2 + case + charger + 2gb microsd.
Added $60 on my end, and got the Tour for only $60 a few weeks ago, so in total I spent $120 on the phone.
Thus far, the greatest phone I have ever used. I just love it. Currently running a stock version of WP7, don't even want to boot into android because WP7 is sooo nice
im glad for you my bro....

My HD2 was in great condition. The only issues i had were the battery cover's clear coat had started to peel and the front buttons also had clear coat peeling. No hardware or software issues. It does get hot at times, but I've read this is common with this phone?

They should be worth around the same I believe. You should check your local craigslist to see the going rate for each phone, or if you're willing to go through a little more hassle, you usually can get more money for your phone before paypal and eBay fees.

As I said, I'd like to at least test run WP7 on it, if not, I'd probably stick with a gingerbread ROM.

overheating is normal when you run intensive stuff. if it doesn't reboot all the time it's ok.
the european version is also able to run all os. you just have to make an ext partition on the sd card for android and use sd ext. on windows phone it's no problem at all because the sd card gets formated and is added to the internal storage of windows phone. i think the most obvious thing to tell it's a tmous hd2 are the coloured call and end-call buttons. on the european version they are all just black and white backlight.
