If you go through that thread, a guy in Greece says he cannelled his order on Expansys and ordered from those German guys.
He says he should hav it by tomorrow (tuesday 23 November).
He also said that it was in English and branded as HTC although the picture says T-Mobile.
1) Yes, they have it in stock.
2) No it's a T-mobile branded
3) No the OS is in german and they are waiting for a good flash to flash it in english. They will probably have this flash this week
Yes exactly, the update arrives thursday for english language.
Whats more interesting: The upgrade will (as stated on the expansys forum) be published as download (so you will have to do the "upgrade" yourself.
If anyone gets his/her handon this, please remember to at least post the IntelliPad (aka T9) and Intellidialer CAB files from the ExtROM . . . . .
To get acces to the ExtROM: After a hard reset after doing the initial settings (like calibrating), do a soft-reset (so the customisations wont be run. Voila: Its open. The copy the needed cab's off . . .and post them here
To continue working with the device do another hard-reset and then follow the normal procedure.
Lots of Himalaya users will be very thankful!

I spoke to a guy on their phone lines.
He says they've been expecting them since last week but it hasn't come yet.
Apparently, it's due to shipping issues as the goods have been despatched from Taiwan.
Gotcha. I just ordered one from nowicom.com (MDA Compact in German) and will receive Friday (hopefully).
I'll let you know when it comes about flashing to English. 8)

This is me. I wasn't logged in.
Hi guys,
First post on this forum but likely not the last one, given that I'm planning to buy a MDA compact asap.
With that in mind, I've a couple of hours to spare in Frankfort airport on Monday:
- Any chance I find a SIM-unlocked version?
- Any chance I find the same with a EN ROM?
- Will the nowicom EN ROM be downloadable by everyone (or will a code be required)?
Belgo
T-Mobile sells them in Netherlands with WWE (English) ROM.
Locked though. Big chance all MDA Compacts are sim-locked as they are subsidised by T-Mobile with a subscritpion (not sold without one)
Edsub,
thanks for the answer but assuming you are right, where are the versions from nowicom coming from then? I thought they were selling Sim-unlocked (but still T-mobile branded).
Belgo
Hi All,
I found this link on the Expansys forum http://www.phones2udirect.co.uk/Products/type/phones/ProductID/5654/NetworkID//I-Mate_JAM.asp
I don't know if it is really in stock but for those that want an iMate on cotract, it might be a good deal.

I'd phone them and make sure it's in stock if I was thinking of buying from them.
Just phoned them.
The guy I spoke with said they had them in stock but that batch has already gone out.
They should have some more by Wednesday.
Not in stock then.
Those guys (phones2udirect) seem a bit slippery to me. Their web site says "in stock" for that item. I called and asked a sales guy about it. He said that they dont have any right now but they hope to get some by the middle or end of this week.
The I asked him why, if that is correct, they show it as "in stock"? After all there must be people who are putting their credit card info on line and being charged, for an item these guys do not have! He then said, "well we are taking orders and then we'll get them an ship them out" SO I said "we'll that's no IN_STOCK, thats ON ORDER", isn't it? He really didn't have much to say after that.
So be careful. They are not honest at all. If you have problems with the phone, it would probably be even worse.
Yeah, I thought it was too good to be true. I am actually waiting for a Jam from Expansys. I don't live in the UK so I have to buy one without contract in my country anyway. I guess the guys that bought from Newcom in Germany still don't have their English language ROMs yet. I think I'll stick with an English imate Jam.
Matt
OK, for those interested in how many units Expansys is receiving, I was told by French Expansys that in total they would be getting 1,000 iMate Jams (for all countries) and the backorder is only 300. It looks like all orders will get filled when the shipment arrives

Does anyone know where you can buy the Shift for immediate delivery in the UK or do you have the details of any overseas supplier that is reliable. I have the money to purchase one but cannot find a supplier at the moment.
I got mine from chicago, they import from europe. Onthegosolutions i called them to verify stock, bought online, called again to verify i would recieve the next day and wala, it was in my hands. They were very helpful.

Hi Einsiedler,
I ordered with Amazon on 2nd December now the site says availability 9. April and in my account the date has been 8. April for weeks now.
I guess we have to wait a little longer. Today there was an offer on Ebay without specifications of the keyboard layout. I asked for it and a little bit later the offer was taken off by Ebay I guess.
And I got an email by Ebay in which they said that a doubtful email was sent to me by the the person I asked for the keyboard specifications.
We must swallow the truth that there ain't any Shifts around in Germany. Geteiltes Leid ist halbes Leid.

Und ich teile
same for me: No qwertz-Shift. Also no pictures yet. Mid April?
My Amazon order has NO date at moment.
By now HTC is well-known for its strange (i.e. non-existent) information policy. But their distributors seem to kid their clients in the same way. My amazon-order already has been postponed a few times after giving me fix dates for delivery. Today I got the same mail as EinSiedler telling me that at the moment they don't know nothing about a forthcoming delivery. At the same time however Amazon changed the availability status of the Shift from "bestellbar" (order now) to "lieferbar ab dem 9. April" (available 9th of april). What is the name of the game they're playing with us?
amazon.de will deliver mine on the 11th of April.
Maybe I order the normal English version and use tipp-ex on the keyboard.....
Received the same Email this morning - one day after postponing the delivery date to infinity. Quite chaotic.
But hopefully they are right - this time.
BTW: I assume it's the quertz-version. Anyway: Better we learn blind-typing instead of messing around with Tipp-ex.
Date shifting
Hi,
no, I don't think that it is Amazon. I guess it is the information policy of HTC, but it is another question how the distributors handle their cluelessness. Worst of all is Expansys. For months they have been giving out exact dates olny to put them back when the time arrives.
At the moment is says: Verfügbarkeit (availability): ca. 1 Tag. Just for the fun of it have a look what will happen today or tomorrow. What they do is downright disgusting.
I ordered the Shift with Amazon on 2nd December 2007. For weeks now the date in my account is 8th of April. On their site it is 9th of April, supposing that I am lucky I might get it on 11th of April.

Shifting availability
Hi,
from Amazon I just got this email:
Wir liefern vorbestellte Artikel so aus, dass Sie sie am
09.04.2008 in Empfang nehmen sollten. Wobei wir die übliche
Transportzeit hier miteinkalkulieren und Ihre Sendung entsprechend
rechtzeitig losschicken.
So, if lucky I'll get it on the 9th next month, but who can trust the month of April funniest of all the months starting with the first.

For the Krauts here in the forum:
Shift qwertz ist available from Monday. Some dealers report they got a tracking number from DHL today, so Monday it should be in stock!
Hi,
I live in Australia and noticed on expansys AU that the Shift is on there twice, one as HTC Shift http://www.expansys.com.au/p.aspx?i=157607 and the other as HTC Shift X9500 http://www.expansys.com.au/p.aspx?i=165677
All of the specs seem the same except the X9500 has a 40GB hard drive instead of a 30GB and the X9500 is heaps cheaper........
The other thing is Hong Kong sells the X9500 $650 cheaper than the Australian HTC Shift but the language is (Traditional Chinese), what does this mean...... is the operating system chinese only or is the keyboard and everything Chinese??
Does anyone know what is going on here???
Thanks

First link is not good, remove the "and" from the link and it's working again
As I can see only the HD is different yes.
I think the Chinese version has another keyboard layout. Maybe also the WM is Chinese and maybe also Vista, but can't tell you this..

Sorry I fixed the first link it had "and" stuck at the end of the address.....
OK, I have found the X9500 in English so the Chinese is no problem now, The HTC Shift in Australia is$2194.95AU and the HTC Shift X9500 in Hong kong with 10GB more is $1511.13AU Thats $683.00 AU difference....... Thats a massive difference for the same device and if you pay less, you get a bigger harddrive...... Something is really strange here.
For that massive saving I am willing to send it back to Hong Kong for Warranty if something goes wrong.
hello!
i am ready to order my hd2 (Greece is where i am located.)
So, after searching some greek eshops,i seem to find 2 different versions of the hd2 and i am confused.
There seems to exist a T8383 model and a T8585 one.What's this?Anyone knows?
http://www.skroutz.gr/s/94970/HTC-HD2.html
T8585 is the HD2 that I have.
The other could be the test phone, or a other branded phone (T-mobile etc.)

T8585 - HTC HD2 (not "Touch" any more, also known as Leo).
T8383 - WTF???
In theory it could be cut down version. But apart from Czech republic and Greece no one seems to have that sort of number. Could it be something like HTC made in Greece?
More
I am concerned.
I already own a touch diamond greek. The company that alters the software (translation etc) is ace hellas i know. This is not the case in this T8383 model.I was about to buy it but then i thought i would post here the question. It is 50 euros cheaper than the eshops selling the T8585 and also the T8585 is not expected here in nothing less than about 20days.So could this be a test model or something like you mentioned before?
Perhaps when it was know as Touch Pro Three?
Sould i avoid it you think and wait for the T8585 model?
how much does the hd2 costs in Greece? In cyprus is estimated 685 euros!! i think i will be buying mine from Germany in December...
btw both my Polaris and HD where also customized by ACE Hellas and they also seemed to be more expensive than in any of the other shops, I just fell for the salesman trick that only the ones customised by ACE Hellas are under HTC's warranty, which seems to be bull****!
sorry i missed your link on the first post... they are even more expensive in Greece!!! why dont you buy from abroad?
what about expansys??? http://www.expansys.com.gr/d.aspx?i=188868
its an english version of it
About 700 euros here and big stores like www.plaisio.gr say it will be available late november to december, and the T8383 model costs 650 and is already available. i will probably wait

i don't believe there would be 2 versions of the same phone, unless branded like vodafone or something.... or it could be that the seller did not read his notes very well... i mean 3 can easily be misunderstood to 5!
Maybe the T8383 model is the one with dots on the screen
No it's not a branded version, that's what i tried to explain before.I have to buy from a greek eshop because vodafone gr gives me some money i don't know the word in english, money discount for buying a new phone and shops like expansys.com or other do not cooperate on this with vodafone gr the said
i am beginning to think it's a first version of the phone probably, though it could be wrong spelled,a number "5" turned to "3".
Thanks anyway,i will wait and pay 50 euros more,i will give so much money,i have to be sure not to buy a beta phone version or anything

Nope, I've got a T8585, and it's got dots (Well, actually they're lines in a diagonal grid pattern with dots at the places where the lines cross).
But yeah, maybe the T8383 is one of the prototype (Those that said Pro.Three) or pre-retail (The ones without the pouch, MicroSD card, etc.) models, or just a random name for a model that doesn't differ at all.

legally they shouldnt sell you a beta phone and get away with it, so dont worry
*I believe* the difference is only down to the radio frequencies that 3G HSDPA data runs on.
One of them probably does 900/2100, the other maybe 850/2100.
i called the company today (one of the companies that sells the T8383 model).
They said that tha package was the full one, including an sdcard etc.
When i told them about the T8585 being the official one mentioned in the site, they replied that perhaps there is a type error.Could someone made this error and then 2 or 3 sites just copied it wrong?
The description in all these sites selling the T8383 is the same (copy-paste)
So should i just buy it?
I can hardly wait another one for the T8585 sites.
I wll also try to contact htc
how to find that number on the phone?
Linuxmaniac, unless you got a serial number from one of the T8383 models, don't bother contact HTC.
I already have, and they need a serial number in order to verify if the device is real or fake. they didn't answer the most important question - if there's a T8383, or not.
I contacted htc. They replied and said that there is only a T8585 model and i should only buy from original retail suppliers of htc in greece.
The site is not included in this list for Greece.
Also, the site after i called them changed now the model name to T8585 and put up the price 20 euros.
Still its 30 euros less than other shops in Greece and most important for me it is available.
So is this 30 euros just some sort of tariff for the buying from the "original" supplier?
Maybe this was all just a type error?
Some shops could lose clients easily afterall.
I think will order mine from this shop and then send the serial number to htc.
Do you agree?

Just found out I have been sold a Czech phone by handtec.co.uk even though I am in the UK and so are they. Seems I can't get Manila 2.5 upgrade unless someone knows where I can get it from - or if I can HTC think it may change my language to Czech. Main question is do I have a claim against Handtec as I wouldn't have bought a Czech phone for the price I paid. Unfortunately I bought the phone in June 09. If I have no claim does anyone have any advice on upgrading a Czech phone please.

Assuming its an authentic HTC you can flash hard SPL and change your ROM to whatever you want.
Not sure about the claim stuff, sorry.
The hardware is the same no matter what country you buy it from (assuming it's not a copy) You can download an official Eastern European manila 2.5 rom here: sunnysoft.cz/htc/ (it will be in English by default)
I too was sold the Eastern European (EE) version by Handtec. They claimed that they could legally source any unit from one EU country to another without breaking any consumer protection law. Not sure they are right but don't have time to contest it.
However, the EE versions also support English and you can upgrade from the relevant country site and still read it. Happily the upgrade itself has an English title even on the Czech site. I think you are prompted for the language you want when you run the upgrade - I've certainly done it without any trouble.
The only two issues are:
a) upgrades for minor markets (e.g. EE) lag behind the 'major' ones by some weeks (and I suspect some won't appear at all);
b) some ROM applications appear with EE defaults (eg the clock comes with Warsaw and Budapest times not London, Paris, New York).
b) is trivial but a) can be a pain. I certainly won't be buying from Handtec again as I think this is a con.
Hello all,
I just bought a Galaxy S5 and did some authenticity checking on it. I expected the G900F version since I live in Europe (Romania). It seems that it is the G9006V version. I chatted with a Samsung representative and he told me based on the IMEI that this is the case. I also checked out the download mode and it said the same. Antutu gave it a score of 50483 and says it has a Qualcomm 801 chipset, so at least it seems to be genuine.
I have the option of getting a refund. My question is, do I have any reason to? Are there any downsides to the Chinese version? It does have Google Play, I've read that mentioned as missing. It also came with Android 5, or so it says in the device info screen, and cannot be upgraded to a later version. Does the European version get a newer one? Will mine be able to get updates too?
P.S. The About Device Screen / Model Number displays "SM-G900F" and under Build Number there is a section called "United Arab Emirates". When I went into an info screen in the S Health app I got a screen of text in Arabic... This is weird, does it have any bearing on the software on my phone and the possibility to upgrade it in the future?
Where did you buy it? Unfortunatly this appears to be another case of a falsely labeled G900F
