Priveledge escalation? - HD2 General

Hi all,
im wondering if it is possible to elevate ones priviledges to the point one can copy out an (administrator?) owned dll to a normal user sd card .. i ask as i had the need recently and had the problem of the dll showing up in an explorer search and not having the ability to copy after the fact .. I read in the MS dev pages that WM6 introduced new infosec details that prevented the same as WM5 but yet short of dumping a rom or unpacking a nbh file myself i have found no way of simply copyng a dll or equiv etc .. ideas ?
I added some priv escalation cab i found while searching but it did no good (for me)
Cheers

mkrom (Extract of Rom Kitchen) Add files question

Hi All
I hope someone can help with the following problem.
I had wanted to use Mkrom on 2003 roms but after encountering problems with rom addresses and on KP2L's advice I switched to the "Rom Kitchen" as the code has been updated to handle 2002 and 2003.
I did not want to run the whole thing as I don't know much about Web servers on Unix so I just downloaded the 2003 directory and added back the missing folders and tools. After converting the files I am able to run ./mkrom.sh and make a "raw" .nb1 image that loads O.K to my XDA
The problem starts when I try to add files.
Trying a simple example of just placing ssnap.exe in the files folder and not bothering with links/ subfolders etc ./mkrom seems to work in as much that it picks up the files>transfers them to files 1/ 2 adds the files from cfg and > to the XDA1/2 .bin together with xip and loads to the rom under XDA_Developers 1/2. When this Rom is installed the XDA freezes at the bootsplash screen (Not completely, if you press the volume button it comes up to the start screen but the screen is miles out of calibration and most of the menus are missing) To test this further I downloaded a rom from Jeffs kitchen and stripped the files for the cfg/files folder and re-ran ./mkrom.sh but I get the same problem .
I have run lots of UltraEdit "Compare" reports,of all of the cfg/dumprom output files, between mine and Jeffs, and apart from some addressing differences all the data is getting to the rom. (I can post the reports if anyone wants them)
I suspect, although I'm useualy wrong, it's data "type"/ conversion conflict and wonder if under a full Rom Kitchen the files are converted in some way before being placed in the files folder prior to ./mkrom processing ?
As a last resort, I guess, I will have to set up the Web server (I have got one just never used it) and do the whole thing but hope to avoid it with a bit of help.
PLEASE :?: :?: :?:
Thanks
Richard
O.K I guess the question was too long/boring lets try this:
Do the scripts in Rom Kitchen make any changes to the files to be added to rom prior to processing by ./mkrom.sh

Click to collapse
No: the script basically just sticks the files into /files and then runs mkrom.sh
Not sure why your scenario isn't working, it sounds like it should...

How can i extract keybddr.dll from my device!!!

Hello everybody
when i update my device to a newer rom i found couple problems on my hardware keyboard ,, and somebody told me you have to copy keybddr.dll from your previus rom ( i-mate K-Jam 2.16 arb ) then copy the file to windows folder on the newer rom ( accept the replacing )
but when i try to copy it i get the message : you can't copy the file
i used resco explorer and total commander all same problem.
im not an experience on dumping , if something can i do it without coding ; it will very well .
if you need the rom here you are ftp://ftp.clubimate.com/K-JAM_Arabic_2160901_21609102_20710_ship.zip
thanx in advanced
In my mind, copy it is a problem, ovewrite it to your device is another problem. First problem is easy to deal, if the system is WM5, the second one perhaps is easy too if you can modify the registry to rename the drivers' name.

SIM_Mgr.exe

I got the TyTN ROM 1.18.262.2 Spanish. It comes with the SIM Manager (file SIM_Mgr.exe) v5.22. It got a very evidently bug that causes that the sorting by name be incorrect. I've found the file SIM_Mgr.exe v5.26, I've overwrited the old file (using resco explorer) and now this bug is gone
My question is, does someone got a newer version of this file in order to keep it as up to date as possible?
BTW: I ve attached the v5.26 to the post for those who may use it.
Found v5.29. Fully working on Hermes.

MS device emulator HTC wizard rom-Convert nbf to nb0

Hi all.
I started using MSDevice emulator v1.0 to check some programs before I put them on my QTEK.
Atm,I'm trying to install the OS from Faria rom to the device emulator.
The emulator uses images *.nb0 and I'm having *.nbf rom
The tool on the FTP site (nb2nbf) does the exact opposite thing from what I want .
Can someone tell me how I can extract the nb file from eg Farias rom? {edit -found correct programs -check below}
Will farias hacks & customizations work ?
Is the device emulator a reliable program to test applications?
Also, I found somewhere in the internet some skins/localisations for the qtek for using in the dev emul but I can't remember where. I'd appreciate if someone could post a link.
Thanks
Note to moderators :I wouldn't like to add these kind of questions on the Windows mobile specific topic because I'm interested more in reliable wizard emulation. If you think I posted in the wrong place you can move it somewhere more appropriate . Thanks again

Application Blacklists for WM6

Hi,
I have just been on the following thread:
http://www.satter.org/2007/03/lets_shell_some.html
And want to know if anyone can assist me in this forum with the production of a working file for the thread.
I created a CPF file and dropped it into the Herald and executed it. I received an System Notification entry in my Text messaging folder stating 'your device settings cannot be changed by Test.cpf'
Does anyone know whether this is because I do not have the OTA Enterprise prvileges or is ot just that I screwed up in the execution of the file or contents?
I thought in the file it suggests I only need manager access to execute these entries.
All comments are appreciated - I am not a hardcore developer so I have posted this with some trepidation but I need a little help here to get the example working.
Kind Regards,
PianoSam.
make an application unlock
Erofich,
Many thanks for your reply but I wonder if you can explain a little further...
Is it possible to execute changes to the registry with a file like this or do I need to do some programming?
Sorry for my being so ignorant...
PianoSam.
