How can i extract keybddr.dll from my device!!! - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Hello everybody
when i update my device to a newer rom i found couple problems on my hardware keyboard ,, and somebody told me you have to copy keybddr.dll from your previus rom ( i-mate K-Jam 2.16 arb ) then copy the file to windows folder on the newer rom ( accept the replacing )
but when i try to copy it i get the message : you can't copy the file
i used resco explorer and total commander all same problem.
im not an experience on dumping , if something can i do it without coding ; it will very well .
if you need the rom here you are ftp://ftp.clubimate.com/K-JAM_Arabic_2160901_21609102_20710_ship.zip
thanx in advanced

In my mind, copy it is a problem, ovewrite it to your device is another problem. First problem is easy to deal, if the system is WM5, the second one perhaps is easy too if you can modify the registry to rename the drivers' name.

Shipped=original ROM provided from factories(ex:O2,T-mobile,I-mate...)
Dumped=ROMs dumped for SD memory cards upgrades(forget about them for the moment)
Modified=Modified ROMs using kitchens(forget about them also)
Extended=ms_.nbf=not ROM image, but extended ROM where softwares are preinstalled, and start automatic installation after a hard reset...(also forget about them)
Big storage=enlarge ur storage space by freeing the extended ROM memory..(not now,so also forget about them)
Radio=radio_.nbf=not ROM image but ur phone part upgrade(ur device is a phone and a PDA,these ROMs take care of the phone part)
Unlock=not ROMs but tools to unlock ur device if it's locked from communication networks like t-mobile,etc....
so,as a conclusion,use shipped ROM folder...

Hi...
In the Magician, extended ROM customization is not as easy as other devices.
For himalaya devices,u can use ER2003edit to open ms_.nbf files, edit them by replacing the cabs,or u can unlock and unhide ur extended ROM using extrom unlocker, then u wille able to see extended ROM as a removable drive, and u can edit cabs within...(note that cabs are *.cab files,or cabinet files, those files are executable on ur PPC,almost every program or software is a cab file, even if it doesn't look like, cab file must be contained in,exept executable applications on PPC like .exe that runs directly by clicking on)
In BlueAngel,ER2003edit don't open it's ms_.nbf,but still u have an extrom unlocker for BAs....so u can also edit ext ROMs...
Now in Magician, and due to the difference in hardware architecture(Magician have one rom slot of 64mb),this device don't have (yet) an ext ROM unlocker, and ER2003edit do not open it's ms_.nbf files....(and the member (Anansky) who did the big storage and we all believe he can make or help in making extrom unlocker, seem to have vanished... :? ...)still,there's advanced methods to customize ur ext ROM,but take into consideration that they r not easy....
1-by dumping the ROM to storage card, then using ntrw and a hex editor to cut a partition of the decoded ROM(the ext ROM),mounting it as virtual drive using total commader plugin, editing it,and reflashing using SD method....ouff...read more about this method from here...
2-by freeing ur ext ROM memory using big storage, then making a folder called 2577 on ur storage card, put in autorun.exe and a .zip file containing ur cabs,so,once u do a hard reset, the cabs will be installed automatically from ur SD card....read about big storage from here and here...learn about 2577 folder from buzz's site... http://www.buzzdev.net/
note that this method does not make u an extended ROM like ms_.nbf,but will do the job as it will install ur favorite cabs directly after hard reset....
Good luck...

Just to share with everyone after few days trying, I have succesfully upgrade my dopod 828, the main problem is facing the Error 150, the Upgrade utility is not designed for this device
The procedure is more or less the same as pervious post in this forum, but just little bit different
1. Right click on the EXE-file and extract to a named folder (using Winzip or something similiar)
2. You should end up with about 6 - 8 individual files; ms.nb1, radio.nb1, nk.nb1 ruu.conf, ruu.dll, enterbl, getdevicedata and maupgradeut, the maupgradeut is the file that runs the upgrade
3. Download the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe
4. Once you have this file you will need to add this to the folder created above as this is the file needed to initiate the upgrade.
----- until step is exactly the same
Skip this step-> In ActiveSync, click on file and connection settings and untick the USB connection.
5. In ActiveSync, go to option -> Schedule, Set it to Manual, this is to make the PPC USB connection to ActiveSync active but don't do any Sync with your PC and PPC during the upgrade process.
6. Connect the phone to the USB, manually sync once. From now onwards, the step is the same.
-----
7. Now run the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe
8. The upgrade Wizard will start, go through a few checks then eventually come up with the country Id error.
9. Run the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe file again and this time it should allow you to run the Wizard.
10. The process should then go through 3 stages which should last about 10 - 15 minutes.
11. When finished you should get the upgrade successful notification and a prompt to reset the device
12. In ActiveSync, click on file and connection settings and tick the USB connection.
13. Enjoy your new ROM
I am trying to upgrade my Dopod 828, and I get a error no. 150 said the ROM is not designed for this device... oh.....

extract a program from an eten rom

Hi, i'm a proud owner of a universal (qtek9000) i'm looking for the software "cyberion voice commander" (non speed dial) italian language, unfortunately does not exist an italian commercial version of this software(otherwise I would buy it ).
I've an italian Eten rom (.exe) that have this program in extended rom, someone can help me to extract this program without install the rom (I haven't an eten )
Thank you...
From memory (it's been a long time since I did this, so it might all be wrong), for the Eten roms, run the installer, and it'll extract to a temp\ folder (use a file i/o tracker, or check your temporary files folder for which folder).
In there, I think you should find one file that is marked something like extended or something, and that can be opened with a standard virtual disk editor like winimage. Extract from FAT.
V
as i read in eten-user forum I've initially extract " EUU.exe", "USBDLUpdate_console.exe", "upgrade.bat" i think that upgrade.bat is really the rom and maybe contains the extended rom.
Now what do you suggest me to extract the program from this .bat
thanks a lot
What rom are you working on? Do you have a copy we can have a look at?
Thanks!
V

Thanks
I have ROM 230wwe for the eten m600 if you need it...I would like to know also how to extract this EXTROM.

Does anyone know a way to extract files from an eten rom dupm (temp.dat file used in the flashing process) ?

hi i am new to this and i have a htc running windows 2003se could some one please tell me how to install the above file on my htc i have tried sending to my docs and pushing set up but no luck please help thanks
if it's a rtf file then it's not a program but a text doc
yust copy the file to your PDA.....
I think someone made a mess here. This file only contains a picture (yes picture) of a list of files apparently extracted from a cab .
If you have the original cab file and want to install it, just copy to PPC then click on it in file explorer.
This may not work if the cab was not designed for your OS.

Please some help: I couldn't get a file out my Windows directory

Hello,
I want try something. Get a better sound with a bluetooth carkit with my TyTN II.
Therefor I want to copy the OEMAGW.dll in the \Windows\ directory of my Qtek S200 to my HTC TyTN II. But I couldn't copy the files. I've tried with Total Commander. Properties -> unchecked everything (for example hidden file).
Could soemone help me get thse files out the directory and replace it.
When this has been done I'll do some tests and ofcourse I'll wrote them done here!
Thanx in forward.
There are two things you should know:
1) Most files you see in windows directory are part of ROM and can not be copied out. If you want them you need to dump and unpack the ROM.
(See WiKi for details)
2) Usually taking hardware related DLLs from one device and putting it on a different device will only cause it to malfunction.

integrating .net framework in wm2003

Hi
i have checked that there is a problem if backup battery become low or main battery removed from device few hours all data get vanished.
and when mobile start . its a Hard Reset ,
On hard reset and first start , the device automatically install some applications .
i m talking about wm2003
Is there any way to integrate .net framework and one of our own app EXE file to that files , so when ever device come out from hard reset it automatically install .net framework and our app
Thanks
There's two ways:
1st: you cook a modified EXTROM (how to is here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=MagicianExtrom )
2nd: you cook your own OS ROM image (you'll need a kitchen suitable for the magician, which i personally don't know which one is)
regards
Hi thanks for ur kind information i have seen That extend rom is best soution for me . Also i was able to sucessfully extract the header file and .fat image file . With the tool provided .
Now the main problem is how do i edit the .fat image. I had tried win image but its says error read , which software can do that ?
And also is it will procudre like this ?
Extract the .fat image
add cab files in it exteded rom folder which can be later used via loadvdisk.
Edit the fike autoconfig .
Re make the . Fat file
remake the nbf file .
Is it ?
But how to edit or extract .fat image ?
I'm sorry, please use this tool instead: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=25416&d=1133971744
Confirmed to be working.
(original thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=848159 )
thank you very much dear for helping me , i got every thing but now
these .fat images are fat 16 and not readable on windows XP
any solution other then using windows 98 / 95 ?
Fat 16 IS readable on WinXP 32 bits. That .fat is a compressed .cab file....anyway...do this:
1) Download and install UltraISO ( http://www.ezbsystems.com/ultraiso/download.htm )
2) Open the .fat file with it, replace with what you want on it
3) Save the modified package with .fat extension
4) Open HTC64 Extended ROM Tool.exe, choose encode and open the project .prj that was previously created when decoding
5) Replace/create a new *.nbf file
6) Replace the .fat16 file with your new .fat
7) Tick "Restore Extraneous Data"
8) Encode
9) Upgrade your phone with the new .nbf
10) Have fun!
