Post your Battery mA consumption. This may help solve battery problems...

The idea of this post is to make a statistic research about the battery drain problem. Maybe this will make us understand the cause of the battery problems -since I couldn't find something that solved the battery problems of all users.

Using the "battery status"today add-on I can say this:
The first time I installed faria 3.3 ROM I had huge memory drain problems
I notised that even in stand-by my phone "ate" about 124mA
The registry memory tweaks didn't change this much - maybe 118mA.
The battery in this codition lasted at most 18hours...
I reflashed Faria3.3 with the mobile FULLY charged,let it discharge fully and now I have 84mA consuption if phone goes to sleep and 97mA when not used. Now battery lasts about 48hours without much usage.
With the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\AsyncMac1\Parms] etc keys changed and with manually shutting down the Wireless Monitor Service(WMS7) was 42mA .
Note: I have Faria3.3 ROM & GSM 2.19 .
In another mobile phone I checked, with 2.17 OS rom & GSM 2.06.10 radio, I see that the when phone is not used the battery drain is 24mA !!!!!
This phone does NOT have the registry tweaks enabled and even with backlight it still stays in 24mA..
Please, post your mA consumption here and say what you have enabled.
Btw, anyone knows why Wireless Monitor Service(WMS7 was enabled (started) even though I have turned off WiFI,bluetooth & IRDA?

152mA, was ALOT higher when i had 5+ programs running, around 200

I have Faria's WM6 and run about 57mA in standby, 125 during normal operations.

Here is my first contribute to this outstanding forum.
Hope this is usefull insearch of the power drain on some devices.
Note:
My phone does NOT have the powermanagement registry tweaks enabled.
And is an clean install with the Faria WM6 (The real Thing) rom.
So there ain't much running.
Just ordered Wisbar Advanced + desktop so hope to see more readings later this week after fully fine tuning my device.

All readings do not change until i manualy interrupt the current status off my device.
I mean if my device after wakeup says 219mA the reading does not change even when i run different software apps.
Even if the CpuScaler clocked 130mhz the reading will not change.
I think that BatteryStatus is broken or something else is interfearing with the readings.

i went from 175mA to 125mA... just by going from 0 to 1 with the next tweak:
HKLM/Drivers/SDCARD/ClientDrivers/Class/SDMemory_Class/DisablePowerManagement
i use Fario's rom..
trying other tweaks now..

Today i did made two changes on my device and noticed the following.
First i updated my Radio rom from 2.19.11 to 2.61.11. (No errors everything works fine)
I just wanted a better radio because the signal strengh overhere is verry bad.
This update has on my device an nice site effect.
Powerdrain dropped by several mA.
Wakeup: 61mA (after 5 <-> 10 minutes)
Softreset: 201mA
Hardreset: 299mA
Second i messed with the key
HKLM/Drivers/SDCARD/ClientDrivers/Class/SDMemory_Class/DisablePowerManagement
I did not notice any effect on this reg tweak

I am using Wizard 100 ( Cingular 8125)

Fetch mail using poutlook every 10 minis

i dont know what i did.. but its at 42mA right now.. and sins my last post.. it was @ 76% battery.. and right now its @ 75%... that means more then 12 hours have passed.. and its only down by 1 %...

Seems as if batterystatus is broken: my readings dont update either: it seems stuck at the same mA-value all the time, no matter what I do, or which clockspeed I use...
Also: the powermeter keeps at 99% (had been 83% as well); it never changes : (

My battery from 100% to drop to 99% might take 8-12 hours , then from 99% to 90% might take few hours (maybe 1-3 hours).
This seems to be normal.
I'm using the mA consumption because if you have an 1250mA battery I think this is the best unit to measure battery.

My apologies, but which program are people using to measure battery life consumption and how does one tell which program is causing the problem? In the past week, I have noticed my battery life take a nose dive and I'm wondering if it is pRSS Reader that causing my problem. I installed a power saving cab found on this forum site and I will test it tonight. Thanks for the help.

It might also be worth considering usage of GPRS, Push email, WiFi, BT, etc.

Be careful of power saving cabs. Some of them actually increase battery consumption.
I think most people are using battery status to check consumption.
BTW:
At wake up: 24-30 mA
When the phone has a signal, the consumption rate is low 24-30 mA throughout the day. When it is searching for a signal (normally at my work), the consumption is substantially grater. When I get back home the consumption goes back down to the normal 24-30 mA (I always have a signal at home).

No,
I never applied the fix.
I haven’t done enough research on the fix to justify applying it. Maybe when I get some extra time.
The signal goes in and out at work, so it's not a big deal for me!

Running an 8125 with Faria's WM5 3.3 ROM.
When I wake it up it's usually 51, or somewhere in the 50's anyway.
I just tried those powermanagement reg tweaks and had terrible results too :\

My wizard can last 3 days with moderate usage of wifi, phone calls, and movies. This happened after I followed the Battery Solved thread and reflash with official ROM and then I installed Xplore1.1. And for the first cycle after first time after fully charging overnight, I can get the 3days of continous battery life..
Since then, I have been monitoring CPU usage and it hovers around 1-5% (Battery status) when idle... Bear in mind that the current consumption value can be around 33mA to 150mA and still battery life seems to be good...
Weird but through...

Dear,
I have upgraded my HTC Touch from WM 6.0 to 6.1. I have faced the big problem of Heavy Battery Drain. I was confused. I try to find out the solution over XDA Forum.
My problem was, "after charged 100%, then after 5-10 menutes it goes to 80%. and then it start draining very fast."
I have changed the registry for :

TMobile MDA Problem! Help!

Can someone please help me? I just bought a used MDA but it has several problems with it. Here are the problems:
1) The phone has been damaged which causes it to not switch the keyboard light or backlight off at times, and also, when returning from sleep or standby, unit reacts as if the dsown button is being pressed and continues to move down until the d-pad is pressed.
2) Phone depletes both the included battery, the spare battery AND another TESTED AND WORKING MDA battery much faster than normal(1% in 2 minutes or less while idle).
Does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong? Its not Windows because I already updated the version twice and it didnt fix the problem.

What ROM are you using?
What are your IPL/SPL?
What apps do you have installed?
Do you have your IR, bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or any other battery draining resources turned on?
If you did in fact do a ROM upgrade did you flash to a full carrier rom after your CID unlock prior to flashing to a custom rom?
Does the battery in fact go dead when it hits 0%?
Was your battery at 100% when you did your last flash?
When was the last time you calibrated your battery (let it fully discharge then recharge overnight before using device again)?

OK... I'm no expert but i'll answer these as accurately as possible.
If by ROM you mean windows version... then I just updated to the latest version from TMobile.com
I'm not sure what IPL/SPL is.

Phone was not unlocked.
Battery has never hit 0% so I'm not sure. Will test that immediately.
Battery was at 65% and charging when last flashed.
Never calibrated the battery.

Well I'm new to this but I successfully CID and SIM unlocked my phone and now I'm running Titanium V2 (WM6) So I can at least tell you if you updated to the current tmobile rom your running IPL/SPL 2.26 Hope this helps.

When you turn on the phone do you see a screen that says IPL 2.26 wiht SPL 2.26 right under it? If you don't then you may have a problem. You said you used a rom from T-Mobile.com so you should have the latest released WM5 build from them and this is good provided the flash was 100% successful.
2 things to try for keyboard light and battery drain:
1. Start -> Settings-> Personal -> Buttons -> Backlight tab
toggle this check box. (unchecked should light keyboard after first key press, checked would light keyboard after first key press only if sensor determines not enough light
2. Start -> Settings -> Connections -> Beam
Make sure the Receive all incoming beams box is unchecked. Otherwise your IR will always be on and looking for signals. Most Comm Managers no longer include the button to turn this off/on in Comm Manager. This can be a big cause of battery drain especially if you are moving around active IR signals that your phone can see quite frequently.
Other than that battery life tends to stabilize over time after the battery is calibrated. Of course you can always try a new radio rom as well as the one that comes with the rom you installed might be excessively searching for signal or switching between two competing towers as the signal strengths vary. The best radio for most users regardless of rom is the T-Mobile UK radio 2.19.11 (I am pretty sure there is a link to it in the wiki) You may have to CID unlock or use the shelltool to flash it though.
Probably the biggest bang for the buck is the radio. I would switch to the 2.19 radio, this is most likely your issue (as far as battery life goes) Of course each person's experience is different so you may have to try multiple radios to find which works the best in your particular coverage area.

My battery on the HTC Pure went from 45% charge to 2% auto-shutoff within a matter of 1.5 hours without any usage on my part. In fact, I had rebooted it and not touched it since.
The thing has been dying a lot faster after I installed some programs from Marketplace. I'm wondering if they are doing background processes that zap its power or what.
Any recommendations on monitoring what's going on in the background???

3. Put the battery back. Don't switch on the device!
4. Charge the device by normal way (not by usb!) to the full state (green LED).
5. Take out battery again for 60 sec.
6. Put the battery back.
7. Switch on the device.

How can you discharged your battery? I didn't find a option on my Touch Diamond 2.

You don't do this unless you want to damage the battery.

Exactly the same thing here, after installing some apps from Marketplace, the batt started to drain very fast. Don't know why yet. The apps installed are:
Mobeedo
Bing
Pocketnow
The Daily News
I've removed Mobeedo, The Daily News and Pocketnow just to test if they were doing something.

Fast battery discharge
I had this very same problem. I had it with WM 6.1 and the Pure. Both due to the same app. BING is your problem. If you have a memory card in your phone it causes it to be constantly accessed instead of just on demand such as with storing pictures from camera. This is a battery life killer. Ditch BING, remove your storage card, save what you want to a PC and wipe it. After that put your saved files back on the card and put back in phone. This should stop the battery drain issue. Hope this helps.
ALSO: Some people swear by the battery drain and charge thing...others do not. Use it if you like but without getting rid of BING or finding a way to keep it from accessing your memory card the difference you will see will be barely noticeable.

[Q] Battery Issues;BSOD/SOD;EBL?

So, I'm at a loss of what to do here. No matter what settings I seem to use I can't get good/decent battery life.
In fact, I get terrible battery life. With light to moderate usage I have to charge my phone at least two times a day, mostly three. Current widget reads that at standby I'm anywhere between 55mA-70mA and when in use 200mA-500mA. When charging it reaches 400mA-600mA
I see everyone talking about being able to get 5-10mA and I'm amazed at this. I've searched and read most "Battery saver" threads and none of it seems to work.
I was originally using Chucky rom lite and when I noticed the drain was abnormal I switched to the set up that chiasoft uses in his ReadMe for the ROM (stock 2.10ROM/2.08 radio).
Although since switching to the stock WinMo ROM I had repeated BSOD and SOD issues. To the point that it became unusable. I switched over to latest Energy ROM.I installed EBL and on both Stock and this Energy ROM. I am still having BSOD/SOD problems. Could it be the EBL? I plan on upgrading the radio to 2.12 in a few after I test out this EBL theory.
My setup as of this post is this:
WinMo ROM: Energy.BLACKSTONE.21916.Sense2.5.Nov.08 (Switched back to Stock 2.10)
Radio: 2.08.50.08_2 (Switched to 2.12)
Android: MooMoo Froyostone Sense 3.2 w/hastrain kernel

I really don't want my LI-ON battery to die before I've even had the phone for the year. So if anyone can think of anything to help I'd be ever so grateful.

when you fully charge your batter what is your mV ? use the battery life widget to determine this. If it is not nowhere 4000mV once fully charged, you might need to consider buying a replacement battery.
btw. my mA reading is actually worst than yours. Might have to calibrate the battery again later.

idk what it is fully charged. I'll be sure to check it later though. How do you calibrate the battery?
Also, I realized that I made an oversight on my part. When I switched to the stock WinMo rom I hadn't realized fully that it changed my Radio to 2.08 even though I posted it.
The rom chef recommends 2.10ROM/2.12 Radio, so that's what I switched to to check out that combination.

btw change it to interactive not on demand.
you charge the battery when your phone is off. Till your charge indicator turns green.
Once that is off. you can use root explorer or adb and go to rm/data/system delete the batterystats.bin leave your phone plugged in while you are deleting the batterystats.bin file
i prefer root explorer. but its not free and your device has to be rooted.
let the phone drain the battery till its dead and turn it on again to make sure it is completely dead.
charge the phone like you would usually afterwards.

Just installed 2.04 and there still isn't an interactive.

thats odd. because im on 2.0.4 also and I am able to select interactive.
btw i followed this guide for the battery conditioning.

Yeah. No interactive settings. Also, that guide recommends 1190 max, but mine only goes up to 998.
Also, I finally got it to down to 7mA in standby. When I changed the radio to 2.12 and using a 2.10 stock WinMo rom.

no issues here getting 48 hours of light use, or a full 24 of moderate use...

I've yet to "condition" my battery. I'm worried it'll do more harm than good. Especially since I just got it finally to a decent mA draw. Although I'm worried my phone won't charge up to 100%. Always stop at 95.
Is conditioning really necessary/important?

yes full charge voltage should be around 4.2. Try charging it with the phone OFF till your charge indicator is green. This way you can achieve a full charge.
By the way how the hell are you getting 48 hours on light usage?? excuse my language. What are your setcpu settings, configurations. etc.

Yeah, 48 hours seems improbable. I finally got it down to 7-10mA on standby, and I think it charges up to 4.2 but I'll find out for sure tonight.

I had the same problem, make sure you use EBL android launcher and set to autoboot at 3 seconds. Make sure you restart your phone anytime youw ant to load android. I assure you this will work.

My HD2, like all others can be flattened in 2-3 hours with windows/android if used hard, the difference seems to be on very light usage/standby win mobile could last 4 days... with everything turned off and basically not used Android would struggle to last 2 days !
Same phone same network/signal levels etc, can only be poor power management within Android, and I think that means voltages for all the processor and comms modules, not just a simple case of turning down speeds.
What do others think ?

Update: Upon switching to WinMo:2.10 and Radio:2.12+ MooMoo's MMS fixed froystone3.2 I was achieving 6-10mA in standby. The phone would last all day with a two-three hour charging period with moderate usage. Low battery use, rare DC's. Perfect. Best build I've used so far.
I'm noticing a new problem however, and I wonder if it's happened to Chiasoft who recommended this build. I'm getting serious touch screen freezes since last night. Anytime before that the set up was working AMAZINGLY.
Now? It's almost unusable sometimes. This morning it was happening in Android so I switched to WinMo and surprisingly enough it happened in there too. So I read touch freezes are Radio problems mostly. Is this true? Should I switch to a new radio? I'm confused as to why it would just randomly start happening though and worried it would mess up my battery troubles I just solved.
Any advice?

Hmm. I noticed that it almost always freezes when I hold down the end home button to turn off the phone or data or to silence it. I can't actually use the touch screen again until I hit the button again to put it to sleep.
I wonder if it's hardware related because it was happening in WinMo that way as well.

Okay, so now the entire adroid system is acting up mostly related to the touchscreen. Like I use the calculator and it appears that i'm holding a button down. Or I try to make a call and it's not responding. It appears that when I hit end call button repeatedly it allows me to unlock the phone. But when holding down the end call button to get to the Power Off screen nothing in that menu is responsive.
It seems... software related, but I'm not sure. Any info would be helpful. I'm going to reformat my card and reinstall droid and see what happens.
So, called t-mobile. They're sending me a new replacer phone. Oh well. We'll see how that one goes.

I give you only a very short suggestion
You have just to DELETE SETCPU
and delete ANY TASK KILLER (you can keep it just to close any apps that could hang, but not to "free up ram")
Android is not Windows, you dont need to free up ram, and you dont need to overclock/undervolt to gain some minutes of battlife despite stability.
Talk to any Dev and they will confirm this.

hi i am currently running the latest version of android on my sd card-(americanandroid 4-2-11)...i noticed i only get about 3-4 hours of battery life on my phone with wifi, bluetooth off and screen timeout after 30 seconds..i have no active widgets on homescreen and the battery is brand new...what do you think is the problem???
ps.-- i am running a stock tmobile rom with radio 2.08...

SD Builds have bad battery usage, that's a fact. You can always try to flash a newer radio onto your device to improve battery usage, but I don't know if this is possible without problems because of your sim-locked phone. Solution to your simlock:

I also think the battery of your phone is getting "lazy". So you might want to switch to NAND roms (go for gingerbread as it has the best battery life) and maybe get a new battery for your phone.

I ran the AmericanAndroid[3/20/11] and had over 26 hours of battery life among which 18 was of heavy use. I had brightness on minimum(NO AUTO), Screen Time-out was 1 minute, WIFI always on since I don't use my HD2 with a data plan, Auto-Sync, 2G active on mobile network instead of 3G/H.
The reason how I achieved this was because of proper battery calibration. There are a few factors that affect it. The most important ones being the percentage your battery level was at when you first booted into Android how you charge your phone.
Here is what I did to "calibrate" :
1.Charged my phone to 100% for 6 hours straights while it was turned ON.
2. Power off the phone while it is still plugged in and left it to charge for another 15 minutes.
3. Unplugged, removed battery, pressed and held the power button on phone for 5 seconds.
4. Turned the phone back on and once I saw the Boot screen(Android), I plugged it in.
5. Deleted the battery stats file using the following in Terminal Emulator :

rm data/system/batterystats.bin
(Hit enter)
Once that's done, use your phone as much as you can. to drain the battery. Let your phone die by itself. Once it dies, keep turning it on until it doesn't turn on anymore. then plug it in and boot into Android as fast as you can. If you repeat this one more time, you should see significant improvement in your battery life.
This "tutorial" isn't mine. I read some of around here itself and found some of it on other forums dealing with battery care. All credit goes to those OPs of those TUTs
