I made a big big mistake, just before Christmas...... I moved providers from o2to T- Mobile UK.
In my haste to be one of the first to own the HD2 I abandoned o2 because they were not getting thier stock til later on.....what a mistake!!!
T-Mobile customer service is pants....they have an automated service that takes about 10 minutes to get to where you want to be and then you get some bird who hasn't actually got a clue about the problem that you are enquiring about and then says she has to ask someone in tech support (when she is supposed to be tech support) she goes away for 10 minutes and then comes back and says that she can't help.
Now if you XDA chaps can assist
T-Mobile tech support say that they are currently testing a ROM update is this true or False?
T-Mobile instant messeging doesn't work....Why?
Sound is very crackly during calls... Why?
Cannot stream video....Adobe flash player for mobiles doesn't work and everytime I try to run a youtube video it says that it isn't available...should I be able to play streaming media on this phone?
Keyboard is hyper sensitive and often double taps...any way to prevent this?
I have an HTC leather flip case for this phone but whenever i turn off the power (required for my job) and slide the phone into my inside jacket pocket...it always turns itself back on....I am worried that it will ring....it could cost me my job.
Hotmail account won't configure
Takes ages to connect to a contact....Why?
I read the post that Vodaphone are not issuing an update for this phone.... are T-Mobile? and if not, is it legal?
The staff at T-Mobile were very unhelpful and quite brusque...as far as they are concerned they have got me locked into an 18mth contract and thats all they care about

Sounds like your a train driver, and my windows live has a problem too! Poxy thing!
MOst of these issues have LOADS of threads about them, so i'll be brief,
1 - many people have reported sms problems, read the LOTS of threads about it. I dont have this problem so cant offer any help, though tere is an update on the HTC website which could be your first stop.
2 - As above with sound, , read the threads
3 - TMobile set the hd2 up with a proxy server set. Go to the settings tab, click menu, all settings, connections, set up my proxy server and untick this connection uses a proxy. (again, dozens of threads about this)
4 - Lots of threads about the sensitivity, have a look at, for example, BSBtweaks, it can reduce the sensitivity, amongst other handy things.
5 - Sounds like the case is pressing against the power button, have a look and see if this is the case, maybe adjust the positioning of the hd2 in the case?
6 - Again, loads of threads about this.
7 - Not sure what you mean about 'connect to contact'
Sorry if i'm not answering very well, just wanted you to know there are loads of threads about most of your issues.
Happy reading!

Obvious answer, but set the phone to silent before you turn it off. That way, even if it does power on and ring, you just won't know.

It also sounds like you have a crap phone! I would be screaming the house down and quoting the sale of goods act etc to initially either get a replacement or if that doesn't please you cancel the contract. Saying that I have been with them for my 3rd 18 month contract now - I upgraded in late December - and everything worked fine and I have none of your issues. I also recently upgraded the ROM to one on here because to be honest the "official" ones are crap anyway!
I will admit their customer serice is shockingly ****e, although I had similar experiance with O2 and Vodaphone. You would not believe the conversations I had when I was enquiring about upgrading to the HD2! Eventually I got hold of someone who could not have been more helpful and I had the device within 24 hours. No regrets since...

I use T-mobile UK as my provider and, after checking the connections -> proxy tab the connection settings already installed does not have the use proxy server box ticked.
Old versions of the HTC connections setup utility used to install the wrong settings the stock uk T-mobile rom (version 1.43) doesnt have this problem.
If you have connection problems I would put them down to poor signal strength or the radio rom used.

Did you apply the protection screen on ?
In my case it reduced the screen sensitivity
You can find sth with good quality for 3 pounds (set of 3). Check in HD2 Accessories section on forum, I`ve seen about 3 topics about protective screens (films).

So Tony, I guess you Gold carded your phone to be able to use an XDA ROM?
I am a little worried about doing this as it would invalidate my warranty if It screwed up.

no need to gold card. install hspl through pc, this then lets you install any rom, official or cooked. should you then need to revert back to stock rom just copy the nbh file to sd card (no need to be gold) and it will not only flash back to stock rom but overwright hspl to default too, thus restoring the warranty.
the important part is making sure there is a stock rom available for your phone + network as backup.(go read the "official roms"thread to see... i don't think theres a t mob stock rom up there yet, but im sure there will be before long, or you could be the hero who dumps a stock tmob rom and be hailed as a god by all the tmo users!)
also since there isn't a t mob up there, gold card still wouldn't help because there is no official one to flash back to for warranty purposes.
With regards to the youtube issue, you may find you have to phone up customer services to get content lock turned off.
They put this on to stop children etc watching inappropriate content.
It took me a few mins on the phone to get this done.
I have found the T-mobile Customer support to be very good. If ever you've been with Three you will have nothing but praise for T-mobile staff.

I might have some of the terminology wrong so please don't be too hard on me

Installing a HardSPL will unlock your phone so that you can install any ROM onto it - that includes stock HTC ROMs, cooked ROMs, or anything else.
Using HardSPL and/or installing a ROM other than the type was designed for (e.g. from your carrier if it's a carrier-branded phone) will void your warranty.
However, if your phone does develop a fault, then (assuming it is still functioning well enough that you can still flash it) you can use a stock ROM of the appropriate type to put both a legal ROM and a legal SPL back onto it, and leave your phone in a state where they can't tell it was ever flashed with anything naughty, and will thus have to honour your warranty after all.
hehe, its a minefield of confusion.
you can run any rom you like if you instal hspl (I'm) currently running a cooked rom on my o2 locked phone.... BUT ...should I need to send it back I have a copy off the official o2 rom as backup.
if I flash the o2 rom from the pc, it doesn't remove hspl, but if I flash it from the sd card it DOES remove hspl.
your problem is that there currently isn't a tmob rom for you to keep for backup to remove hspl (flashing from sd card the phone does id checks on the rom, hspl it doesn't)
with a gold card it lets you flash any official rom BUTT of course that doesn't help either because there still isn't a tmob for if you need to send it back.
hope that explains it better !do ask again if still confused.

I believe there are two official t-mobile roms to download - links can be found in the ROM forum.
I downloaded
RUU_Leo_TMO_UK_1.43.110.2_Radio_Signed_15.26.50.07U_2.04.50.22_2_Ship
as a backup before flashing. I think the other version is 1.43.<something else>
I've not actually tried it but i'm pretty sure you can trust it is what the uploader says it is.

Ahhh I didnt look that hard, my o2 one is in the first link, never had to, , hehe.
@Timax_50 - there you go, to see if it works, download that, extract the exe file to a folder (dont run it) find the RUU_signed.nbh file (about 200 meg size) copy it to your sd card (fat 32 recommended) rename it leoimg.nbh, reset your phone to boot mode (vol down + tap power) and IF its the correct one, it will let you flash back to factory default. If it fails, its not the correct stock rom and it will stop.
If its good, you can hspl and if you ever need to remove the hspl, just do that sd card flash with that file.
If you run the update from the pc, even though it is a stock rom, it will NOT remove hspl, only if you do it sd card.
My O2 HD2, setup with t-mobile UK has the proxy setting ticked and works fine....
strange.
Yeah as someone else said... stick with the phone... as you get into it you'll find ways to do things. I still have the 1.43 ROM on my T-Mobile HD2 but I now have the phone doing most of what I want.

Im interested in upgrading my Orbit ROM as its a little slow. Having scoured through these forums Ive seen some reports of successful Artemis upgrading, and some unsuccessful Orbit reports. I just want to ask:
1) Firstly before thinking of flashing, can I backup my PPC (kinda like ghosting/imaging on a PC) incase something goes drastically wrong.
2) Has anyone got definate proof of an Orbit being flashed with a good ROM (with GPS / WiFi / most apps working)
3) If so, where would one obtain this ROM
4) (probably a question worth a hounding) Where might I find step by step instrustions on how to: a) backup my PPC fully for safety net
b) flash my ROM. including links to needed software
5) After flashing ROM, I take it no info (contacts, messages, programs, etc.) are stored on the PPC and will need to be painstakingly put back on ??
Many thanks, and my apologies if this has been asked a thousand times> I have sifted the forums but cnt seem to find definitive answers.
One last thing, I just got my Orbit few weeks ago and is my first PPC and being quite techy-minded, would like to learn more about the whole process so if anyone knows of any good guides/info with explainations of acronyms and what have ye,t'would be much appreciated.
First thing you could do is put a question mark after what is a question cause my heart just cant take the excitement.
O2 XDA Orbit and new ROMs?
Secondly this is such a hot topic there are lots of threads and the reason you can not find a definitive answer is because at the moment there is none.
so answers to your question
1 At the moment there is no way to make a backup of the ROM.
2 There are people who this has worked for but do you want to be in the percentage that has a bricked Orbit...... just wait for the new O2 ROM (ETA unknown)
3 There is a PDAMobiz rom that can install on a CID Locked phone floating around but I would not recommend it to you cause its more trouble then it is worth.
4 When its ready.... arvind09 says that they are going to have something really soon.... Look, nothing is going to make it so you dont have to check the forum everyday. Welcome to the club enjoy your stay (at least it is not the club with a bricked Orbit).
5 Use Activesync and Outlook to store your contacts and everything will be automated.
Check the Wiki for information about the whole PDA scene.
P.S. PDAs can be fun but please dont rush into upgrading your ROM on this baby unless you have CIDUnlocked it from (imei-check.co.uk) or unless you have £47 to get it repaired after you have bricked it.
BTW Welcome to the wonderful world of XDAs

that is cause like i said there is not one.

yeah already got that sorted. Just hopin O2 get it into gear n release a FREE WM6 upgrade. I read somewhere that HTC are releasing a FREE upgrade, justhope O2 dnt all business conscious n try to charge for any mods they make lol. Thanks for the quick responses anyhow chum
I have fixed *all* my problems with the O2 Orbit just by installing Battery Status 1.04
Now I am not normally the kind of person who will just go and install some random free software from a site that barely even mentions the software, but this is great.
Before installing, I had these problems:
1. Quite often my phone would completely lock up when I got an incoming call, but the ringer would keep ringing and I'd have to take the battery out. This was rather embarassing after I'd previously told my friends about all the things the phone could do.
2. GPS took forever to get a fix - maybe up to 10 minutes. I would often arrive at my destination before the phone knew where I was. This was despite regularly updating QuickGPS
3. The phone would randomly lock up and/or stall for no apparent reason, and then catch up with itself after a couple of minutes and run all the things I'd launched because I pressed all the buttons while it was locked up.
4. I tried playing an mp3 once. It took about 45 seconds of stuttering and bad playback as if I was streaming a HD video on a 9600 baud modem. When it finally started playing smoothly, nothing else would work.
I had tried uninstalling the o2 software, and I run spb mobile shell and pocket plus but I'd tried removing them too but it was useless. What was really annoying was that I switched to an 18 month contract on o2 for this, but the phone ran more slowly and with more bugs than my old SPV m500!
This one little utility has fixed it all. Now I can use GPS while playing mp3 files and surfing the internet over wifi all at the same time as being on activesync. It's great. It's almost as though the phone is supposed to use the xscale function but o2 have disabled it...
Anyway, download the software from the link - no need to upgrade ROMs or anything. Just make sure you take a backup of your phone before you install it
Now to find a way to get it to default to letter recogniser after a soft reset. I'm sure I saw a post about this somewhere!
Mit
OK, I know that may look like a dumb question (and maybe it is!!!)
I have just unlocked my Vario 2 using the "Pof" method with both Sim and SuperCID.
Problem is, my phone needs to be sent back (long story - but basically I am getting a replacement Vario 3). Now obviously I am concerned they will tell me "sorry youve been playing with your phone sonny - its no longer under warrenty", so need to get it back to factory settings if I can.
I appreciate a hard reset will basically wipe any files I have, contacts and settings etc, but will this remove the unlocks that have been done? ie It really does go back to factory settings - or do these unlocks stay on there?
I have been searching the forum and WIKI, but not found the solution. I did think I would need to install a T-Mobile Rom - but all I could find was a hungarian version - which whilst in English, would probably look worse than as I currently have it!
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
EDIT:
For the record, if it makes any difference:
ROM Version 1.21.110.3
Rom Date 06/19/06
Radio version 1.16.00.00
Herm300 IPL-1.01
SPL 1.40.0lipro
a hard reset simply formats the internal drive on the phone and resets it to the factory settings.
generally t mobile wont bother looking at things like that, i unlocked my vario, dropped it, it smashed, they just replaced it after trying to repair it.
A few people have flashed new roms and bricked it, sent it back, tmobile are none the wiser, they are probably unaware people to this to their handsets!
we are all just stupid customers as far as they are concerned!
personally i wouldnt worry about it!

OK thanks for that. So I assume a hard reset will not over write anything regarding the bootloader radio change and unlocks? I appreciated that it resets the OS - hence the question.
I agree that they probably wouldnt in most cases look into the phone and check, but they have put a note on my account about "charging if not found faulty".
The problem I have been getting is missing calls - even if I am in a strong signal area. I actually work at Waterloo Railway station - and I would doubt too many places would get a better signal! An incoming call is made, my phone doesnt ring and the caller gets a single ring, then nothing. From what I can now gather, this may be to do with the cell shaking hands but not really being connected. ie the phone/cell are duping each other. This appears to be a 3G issue (so is probably likely to still be there on exchange.) Now the silly thing I have noticed; the phone seemed fine until I got web'n'walk put back on and the problem happens once I have been online. Strangely at the moment, I dont think the problem is persisiting (ie Im not aware of missing calls - though of course thats difficult to quantify unless someone tells me!)
Anyway - I have a feeling they will be looking more into this phone as this replacement will be my 5th! (The previous had similar problems with calls being made or incoming that would just fall over before being answered and the signal being completely lost when it was happening. Slightly different this time - but sound related!)
So will there be a way to put it back to being locked and the correct bootloader etc being shown?
Many thanks
I had the same problem with rejected and dropped calls, tmobile couldnt care less from what i learned or are unaware of the problem! try this
1. lock the phone to gsm only (this solved it pretty much straight away)
2) remove the voicemail from your account
3) If you are using gprs data, you will rarely get a phone call through, and by using it i mean looking at web pages or having programs update in the background.
Downgrading the bootloader is way above my head so i wouldnt like to advise.
As regard to relocking the phone to the network, i dont think thats possible, in any event, why would they check the simlock if the phone is having problems with calls!
If its your fifth handset, you should be looking at changing the model at least because thats ridiculous.
It sounds like a network issue rather than a handset problem!

Yeh, the problems on this phone didnt start until I began using the net again. They did suggest switching off 3G, but since I bought the phone specifically on the promise of a fast connection and HSPDA speeds, that really is an unacceptable solution! I appreciate that signal varies etc - but if a central location where I work isnt good enough, then T-Mobile really shouldnt be advertising themselves as a 3G network!
As it happens, voicemail was switched off on the account. It got put back on again a week ago - and sods law - things now seem to be working, though internet speeds are still very slow.

When I phoned, I was just looking to get a repair, but it was them that offered a Vario 3 which I accepted. It was agreed for them to be sending the set to me (last Thursday) but all that arrived was a grey bag to send my old one back. I spoke with them at great length again last night and suggested a straight courier swap so I wasn't without a phone. They went through to their repair department, who have now flatly refused the phone change - despite it being agreed already!
Anyway I spoke to another manager who went through my "book" of notes and quoted the sale of goods act and merchandisable quality thing and he has agreed they really have to address this. He is phoning me back today and he did come across as helpful and reasonable. (The second one in 2 weeks - must be a record!!!)
I do agree though, that this issue is likely to be the network and not the phone. I would really love to use O2 as at work and home I get 100% coverage and never had any problems at all - but I ain't paying their data rates! Maybe 3 will be ok - but again, when I had them a few years back, at home they were dire so never bothered again. But one thing is pretty certain, in 5 months time, T-Mobile will be history unless they make amends in a big way and these problems become non existant.
Thanks for your help..... its appreciated.
I resorted to checking the price of iPhones on ebay earlier so someone please help me before its too late.

3) Messages not being sent - I annoyingly have resorted to putting delivery reports on and getting an annoying text message tone back as every single day i'll look at my phone and realise 4-5 messages are merrily waiting in the outbox. the only way i can resolve it is by resetting the phone and sending a further text, usually saying "sorry this didnt send..."
4) Random freezing - Just decides now and again to make me wait for the simplest of tasks.
5) My Location - Doesnt work
6) Facebook - Decided that enough is enough and it doesnt want to upload pictures anymore with no reason given
7) Silent ringing - Sometimes my HTC feels that it would be rude to ring my phone, and so doesnt. it just lights up and says someone is callling despite working fine moments before and being on loud.
I thought i could live with all these things before but they have got worse and more frequent leaving the phone totally unusable. It's a brilliant toy but a terrible phone.
I want to update the ROM to see if that helps but i have to say im not comfortable using the goldcard method and when i inserted my serial onto the HTC website to get the official one it didnt let me download it ??? A friend of mine could do his, if i used his serial to download the installer would it work?
Any help greatly appreciated
This does sound unacceptable.
It may be related to the supplier or the batch of hardware- I have a SIM free one which came with ROm 1.43 and only saw occasional failure to send SMS messages.
The delay loading long conversations is a known bug, and although there is a workaround there is no formal fix yet.
Operator supplied devices, though essentially unbranded, are still not eligible for HTC ROM updates. A ROM downloaded by someone else would also fail unless you use the goldcard method.
Vodafone are still saying the HD2 has been discontinued, so a ROM update is unlikely from them. You may want to try asking for a warranty repair as the phone is unfit for purpose.
In the interim have you tried a factory reset? You'd lose all your own data but it may stabilise the device.

Big plus one on all that.
Neil - Why has it been discontinued by Voda, presume this is due to all the problems with it? What about the other networks.
When the 1.60 ROM is officially released im going to try that.
I have none of your problems except that My Location works partially. I truly believe you have a faulty device so you should take it back.

I've got a vodafone uk hd2 and you're right, you can't update the firmware from the htc website ,although isn't there a soft spl out now?
1. it took me a while to get used to the touch keyboard and I still find it a bit too sensitive. I think the the sensitivity can be adjusted but mine certainly doesn't produce 'random' letters!
2. duuno - I don't keep that many messages but i think if you tap the keyboard icon it might speed things up.
3. there's an official htc fix for that.
4. never had that.
5. works for me.
6. don't really use it but it doesn't seem to want to *download* my pics.
7. never had that
Or try a cooked Rom via "SSPL Method" ......<<HERE>>. Read through the thread to see how hundreds of unhappy Leo owners with offical Roms are now happy with immediate fixes from our own xda chefs....
This is just a temporary way to flash only cooked ROMs as the community is patiently wait for the magic work or Cmonex's Hard SPL.

It's not technical, but marketing. Voda have (had?) a big backlog of orders for the HD2 and they weren't taking new orders until the back orders had been processed. They then started saying that they would not be supplying any more HD2's despite extremely strong demand.
This has been reported to be due to Voda pushing the iPhone heavily and not wanting to compete too much. We also suspect they get the iPhone at a much keener price, so it is in their interests to push that at the expense of the HD2, as the costs/tariffs are similar.
This is all just rumour and speculation of course though some Vodafone insiders have hinted that it has some truth.
The ability to flash a 1.61 ROM may have the same limitations as other official HTC ROMs so it may be that SSPL (or hopefully HSPL) will be the only answer, though that does have warranty implications.

To take the thread off-topic slightly, can you tell me why most people prefer hard spl over soft? I'm not sure what the differences are.
HardSPL is written into the Bootloader file on the device, so if anything goes wrong, the SPL isn't affected and you can go on to flash another ROM.
SoftSPL makes a temporary overwrite to the bootloader; in general it is pretty safe but if by any chance it goes wrong (we had one chap who didn't replace the back cover during a flash and the battery fell out, rendering his device a bit of a brick!) there is a risk the whole thing could become unresponsive.
I'd always try to have a genuine HTC ROM for your specific device available as a backup- as long as you can access the bootloader screen it ought to work.
re
This hd2 thingy is lastly a phone to me. It's predecessor was that also, only less capable. I managed. I like, that it mostly replaces a phone and I can live with it's shortcomings in that area. Admittedly, I have none of the issues, You are talking about. Stock 1.48 rom, some cosmetix.
What it is though...to me...it is hard to describe. Laptop/net in the pocket - and since I do not watch/listen to public television/radio - by choice, this is my secondary home.
I've got what I payed for this time. The HD was borderline, but the HD2 is no contest. It does, what I need it to.
Constantly and Instantly. If the HD did that, I'd not be selling it right now.
I know, this helps You not in technical terms, sorry, but try to observe the philosophical aspects of your choices.
Edit:
Oooops, one minor thingy, I forgot, since what brought about this completely irrelevant response from me in the first place: If the iphone did all teh things, that the hd2 does for me, I'd still not get it. EVER. Even if it'd suck me ****, do my laundry and mend my sox. I ****ing HATE the crowd and that doubles for the "I"crowd. Every breath they take. I would pay a pretty penny to be rid of them all. That is how 'green' I am.
One point of jealousy is the Otterbox Defender. The only one.
Good luck with the adjustment!

Hi,
yesterday I went out with some friend for some beers at my sorority. We held some event which involved a lot of soapy water. Some of it landed on my phone (which I used to make photos). It continued to work fine though.
When I went home however and plugged in my phone I noticed it didn't show a red loading light. It also would not turn on. I was a little worried then but decided to look into it in the morning (I was a little tipsy and tired after all)
It still does not turn on however, and doesn't show any sign of loading (besides being in the adapter for over 12 hours). It neither does when it is in my laptop.
It also does nothing when the red reset button is pressed. Neither when I try to hard reset (volup+voldown and then end call button)
I'm a bit worried now (with reason I presume). I'm a bit reluctant to send it in though because I hardSPL'led it and replaced the stock (old and not-updated) ROM with an unbranded newer one. This was over a month ago. (which is also the age of the phone )
Does anyone have an idea? the only thing I could think of is a broken USB-port (on the phone) so it is just dead and can't load anymore. It almost can't be the water since it was very little and continued to work... Yet I can't think of anything else...
Take the battery out, leave it a few minutes, put the battery back in then try to turn it on.
Still nothing? plug the charger in then try to turn it back on.
Still nothing? I'm all out of ideas, but this worked for me when mine suddenly stopped working for no reason.
Tried that already thanks though
Sounds like it could be water damaged.
I hope you've got some phone insurance!
Well, it almost can be water damage: the seal is bright white, it was very little and it continued to work :S
Ok, this is strange. I left my HD2 out of the loader for about 2-3 days, and wanted it to take it with me (to my parents house which life in a city with a vodafone store so I could bring it in). When I took off the SD card I tried to turn it on once more... and it did.
I got a normal boot screen and then went into the screen "missing SIM card". It also showed a red light when I insert the cable to charge. so far so good.
I then turned it off to insert my SIM, but it would not turn on. It also wouldn't charge. Neither when I took out the SIM again.
I've now prepped a microSD with the official origional rom and keep it inserted, I'm gonna try to flash it using the microsd card. VolUp+VolDown then power button right? I'd rather not turn it in before I restored the SPL because they might find it and charge me because I void my warranty. (Which I think would be **** because this problem probably isn't related to HardSPL, and I only flashed a more updated official rom because Vodafone doesn't provide upgrades so I would be stuck with 1.48 including the SMS problem...)
I assume you are insured? 'Loose' it and claim for a new one. I have smashed a couple of HTC's in the last 3-4 years in a rage and just claimed on the insurance, claiming I had dropped them from a tower block. I had a phone at my door a couple of days later, I got a new phone from Mr. DeliveryMan and just dropped the broken bits into a sealed bag and off he went.

They will find it and they will void your warranty, at least thats what happned to me. I think it's one of the first things they check for during their troublehooting. Took me a couple tries to get the HSPL off my unit though...
Is it possible the water inside just dried up and all is well?

Where do you live? It might be different in the Netherlands (where I live) and USA/UK or something like that. But thats why I want to remove the HSPL before I send it in unless I have no other choise (e.g. because I can't get it to boot into flash mode at all)

I'm not, I just have warranty. It's not common practice in the Netherlands to insure your phone and the only warranty my provider offers is €10,- p/m extra, so it's kind of expensive. Ok, if your phone breaks it's cheaper but if you are carefull like I am it's not... I just didn't expect it would break so easily and don't even know if it is anything I did...
Ok this is weird.
It just turned on when I tried (I tried regularly for the past few days). Proof attached. This happened to me before as I said but the problem remained... It seems it will only turn on when it feels like it
If it happens again that I cant turn it on I'll post proof it really doesn't start
I've now backuped everything. What is the best action I should do? I would really like to restore the SPL to the original for if I take it to repairs!
I've placed a fat32 microsd with a (I think/hope) original firmware (1.48 NL, not customized for Vodafone). Will it restore the firmware and SPL to the original?
On another hand: I really don't need custom ROM's, I just want the later HTC rom's (vodafone NL is still stuck on f**** 1.48, not even 1.66!). So I would be content with a later HTC rom (2. something). What is the safest version I could update to while retaining the possibility to HardSPL in the future? (with the HSPL currently available)
Also, I could not install the official HTC upgrades because it would complain about an invalid vendor ID (probably the Vodafone NL branding). Will this be a problem? Can I only install an official (non-branded) if I HSPL first?
Thanks in advance for answers.
You should get a copy of the vodaphone rom too, because if you need to remove hspl and send it back, thats the only rom the phone will accept via sd card.

Aye it is expensive, I now pay £46 a month for my contract, £10 of that is the insurance, I've never actually lost or accidentally broken a phone before but I just think it's a handy thing to have if you can afford it. God forbid if it gets stolen or breaks and I'd have to buy a new one.

Any idea where I could get that? I (pitily) haven't found a good/(semi-)complete repository of branded roms. The only things I found where unbranded official roms (repo1, repo2 Firefox warns me about security attacks on that site, so be careful!). Won't they work? How can I try?
Could I try to make a goldcard with this? or won't that work/trigger an alarm (on the service repair)/break things even further
I was mistaken by the way... The origional Vodafone NL rom wasn't even 1.48 :'( I think it was 1.44/1.43 or something
hmm no, seems the nl voda rom is one of the ones no one has dumped/leaked yet. Shame.
Goldcard would work, I think, but it isn't free.

Pity, I've made a request. Hope anyone can help.
Also see that topic for my comments on a goldcard, I wouldn't mind paying a few bucks (especially if I can re-use that code/goldcard in the future to flash new official or even custom roms). But I would only do it if it has a good chance to fool the repair centre or at the very least restore the SPL. (If it at least restores the SPL I can claim I just got it like this. And since it still is the/an official ROM they could asume it was just a mixup giving me an unbranded phone. I mean, if the SPL was normal they could never proof I flashed it )
[edit]
Hmm if this is correct I could do what I want with a goldcard right? I would create a goldcard with the official unbranded 1.43 ROM and restore the origional SPL, radio and ROM. Thus the only difference they would notice is the unbranded ROM/OS/Splashscreen, but if I'm correct they mainly check if a HSPL is installed right?
[/edit]
re the gold card stuff, correct. look up psas, that will make gold cards for you.
Wait, PSAS?
Ooo, PSAS (altough some people here might get PSAS from PSAS )
Unfortunately named though
Hi
Ok so my phone was working fine on a custom ROM when suddenly yesterday an exclamation appeared next to the phone signal and stopped from receiving/making calls and texts. I thought it had just crashed but after soft and hard resets and changing to a few others sims I just can't get my phone signal back.
Really strange as everything was working fine. I now have trouble flashing custom ROMs and am struggling to run a stock ROM because I'm on a mac.
It's driving me crazy as my phone is now useless.
Any ideas guys?
thanks
Quick update
I've managed to get the Leo Lite ROM running and everything is good except that damn exclamation mark next to the phone to phone, which means I can't get the phone working.
Anyone know know why this is???
Have you tried the sim in a different phone?
could just be a simple issue
And I know it a simple thing............but have you got flight mode on?

Yeah currently having to use the sim in an ancient motorola and it works fine, tested with calls and texts. Also tried turning on and off flight mode but still that bloody exclamation mark stays.
That sounds like its been blocked. Theres a network there it just isn't letting it connect. Did you buy it second hand? or off ebay?

Hey Sam
Do you know what, I did buy it second hand, from a reputable store in town.
However this raises more questions than answers;
1. Why would it be blocked after several weeks of normal use.
2. Doesn't some sort of message need to be displayed stating the handset has been blocked.
Does anyone know if this is what happens when a HTC HD2 is blocked? i.e. the exclamation being shown all the time.
I presume a handset is blocked for security measures like theft. I will take it back to the shop tomorrow, they will have all the details of the person who sold it to them.
However is there no way this can happen from flashing custom ROMs? Even though that doesn't really make sense cause I had a ROM that was working fine and this happened when I was out and about.
It could be a bad rom, but it certainly wouldn't be in every rom.
I think id try going back to the stock rom, radio and spl (i.e an sd card flash, do you now if it has a provider locked rom?) and see if it is still there. If it still won't work, then it's definately either hardware or network.
The reason it could have taken weeks is, , seller trades in phone for cash, waits a little while, thinks 'i know'..., reports the phone lost/stolen to claim on insurance, insurance won't pay out without the imei being blocked.

Well I've tried flashing at least 6 custom ROMs, all show the exclamation mark.
The phone was sold to me as being unlocked to all networks, however I never tried with anything other than a o2 sim.
Now going back to the original ROM has its own problems. First off i'm quite new at this so sorry for sounding silly. How on earth do i go about finding out what the original stock rom, radio and spl is?
When I have these I can't easily go back as I don't have a pc, using a mac. I would have to use the sd card way but I can't find an official signed .nbh file.
I have a brand new T-Mo US HD2 with similar issue (out of the box). It's like the radio will not initialize. Did hard resets, tried to force it finding a carrier, etc, and it just will not turn on the radio.
I did find out that there is a likely issue with my SIM slot. If I attempt to remove my SIM card (which works fine in other phones) it is almost unremoveable and feels jammed in. However, once removed, I get connectivity via wifi and touch response is great.
If I insert a SIM card, it takes a LOT of pressure to reinsert it (yes, inserting it in the correct orientation), and the phone cannot connect turn on the phone's radio. Also, I get random phone.exe and credential.exe error message (plus the phone becomes very slow.
Don't know if you have any of these other symptoms, but the lack of connectivity sounds similar.
Supposed to get a replacement HD2 today, and we'll see.
I had the same problem too. I got unlocked code from tmoile and everything working fine for a month. It was working great after upgrade the latest rom 3.14 from tmobile download site (i got the message from them to upgrade), until i went out off country last month then the phone could not turn the phone's radio on. It kept at airplane mode. I been try to flash back and forth all the tmobile .50 stock rom and still having the problem.
Does any one know the issue to fix it? TIA
Looks like a hardware fault. You need to open case and check bottom two brass hinges are in working order and correctly hinged to make contact with antenna which is on the rear case at the bottom.
Follow the guide of opening s HD2 on YouTube there is a factory guide to dismantling the HD2.

Thanks for reply xlr8me. I just check the two brass hinges at the right side of usb connector. It looks fine to me. The other thing i didn't mention on the above post I was flash the dft_leo_nand android after tried all the stock rom from tmobile and the android said "no sim card", i also checked and cleaned the sim slot. Do you think any thing else to cause that problem?
One more thing without the sim or sd card the about phone show up all info of phone: imei, serial..... But with sim card in it just blank when i read the about phone hardware info. Thanks again

Yes I did tried the sim from the carrier of the asia country i was traveling to last month, that why i call tmobile to get the unlock code before i go. When i was there and inserted their carrier's sim and it won't work, even when i get back to U.S. I been tried either tmobile or at&t sim too. The phone radio won't turn on. The rest is working ok except those above error messages "A problem has occurred with device.exe" and "Credential.exe".
Do you think i can reflash with WWE rom .50 radio instead of tmobile's official rom?
Thanks
htcphonelover,
You will have to reset the phone back to default rom from htc website. You may also need to reformat sd card but the radio should still work regardless of whether the sd card is in or out.
My only concluding thoughts are that if the above fails to work then try a different sim card and still no good then probably something with the motherboard on HD2.
Good luck and update us with any new info..
