sky tv - vodafone - HD2 General

first off apologies for the almost identical thread about sky mobile however this is a vodafone issue not t-mobile so i thought i should make a thread for VF instead of raiding the t-mob thread..
basicly i want to get the skysports package on vodafone...apparently there is some complication caused by vodafone ignoring the fact they have customers which own the leo - ****s!
has anyone managed to get this on there phone as vodafone live won't let me go on the website using the phone for the reason i stated above.
cheers.

im on vodafone but am not interested in any of the vodafone live features so i havent tried this but have you tried connecting to live using the vodafone contract wap access point instead of contract internet?
It is worth giving it a go as this works to get iplayer streaming over 3g/hsdpa on vodafone connections.
if you connect to iplayer using the normal contract internet access point then iplayer doesnt recognise that you are using a vodafone connection and therefore wont stream.
could work for live services also

just tried but it still didnt work, i'll have to call them at some point...
what is the difference between contract wap and contract internet if you dont mind me asking a stupid question lol

cant get on the internet: Telfort simcard, Tmobile MDA2,help

I live in Holland. I have an Tmobile MDA2. It is simlock free. I have a contract with Telfort mobile phone company. (Telfort used to be O2 until O2 stopped operating in Holland). And I have my Telfort sim card in the MDA2.
But I can't get on the internet. And I cannot get settings from Telfort, (they say they don't support MDA's or Xda's anymore, and I can't get settings from Tmobile, unless I have a contract with them.
I'm stuck. I upgraded the MDA succesfully, to PPC 2003 SE with the "merged" upgrade from this site. Brilliant.
But I don't know how to get on the internet, or Email, etc.
Is there a way I can get on the internet?. Any settings or ideas please?
Don't know if this is too obvious, if you want to connect to the internet mobily (so not through ActiveSync) and not with a SD-WiFi card, you're probably referring to GPRS, wich uses your GSM antenna.
To be able to connect to a GPRS network, you need to have a GPRS account.
So, do you have a GPRS account with your Telfort account?
I'm also in the netherlands with a T-Mobile MDAII but use it with my T-Mobile acount that supports GPRS. It works fine (but is waaaay to expensive..)
Internet using MDAII
Just make a connection using Cellulair Line using the same ISP you use for your home-pc..
The speed is fair enough and will cost you the same as if you were just calling someone.
cellulair how?
thanks for your answer - I looked for Cellulair on google and nothing came up. Do you have more details or links so I can find it, please?
cellulair - its alright I've found the web site
cellulair - its alright I've found the web site - duh - it was obvious - www.cellulair.com. sorry to have bothered you - thanks again
Okay, 64,000 dollar question!
I have programmed my XDA to get on the internet using O2 GPRS for FREE (I have no contract and no credit) stay on the net 24/7!
Anyone know how to do this on a T-Mobile SIM?
Cheers

Vodaphone Wap Issue - Newbie

Guys
Firstly this is my first PDA so bear with me
I have just got a O2 XDA Atom
I have a prepaid Vodaphone sim which i use
I connected them up and got onto vodaphone to get it setup for GPRS
After an hour or so on the phone, we can seem to connect to them via GPRS but it will not load any web pages. They then informed me that the phone doesnt supposed WAP and so i cannot use it with there GPRS?
Is this true ? what are my options ? Its a lot of money to spend so i can use excel etc
Thanks for any help
Jason
Can anyone help me?
ive had the same problem with vodafone, have you tried a diffrent sim card in it? with mine think theres something up with my sim because any other vodafone sim works fine!
I am in a different country but I have had this problem with my local vodafone before. The sales people know nothing about gprs and other data services. I have been very clear to them an stated what I want to use a service for and after being assured everything is fine still nothing works. In the end for me the solution with vodafone was to move to a billed account. After that (and a phone call to activate it) all wap and gprs worked fine.

Exec Internet Browsing

Hello,
Can anyone tell me if on the exec when browsing sites you can hear the music on myspace profiles?
also what is the best way to get cheap internet as i will only be buying the exec for mobile internet so need something as cheap as poss! the phone is a bonus
thanks
anyone? please
I haven't tried this (yet) so can't comment on quality. 3 pay as you go has the option to buy a months unlimited internet for £5. I don't know if that means data or is specific to port 80 access only.
Ian
I think its possible and I know internet radio is possible with the tmcp player. even youtube.
Hey,
The Exec does not take 3 'contract' phone sim cards does it? So that kicks that £5 per month internet thing?
oh yes it does. ive unlocked mine and have a "3" sim inside it, i get unlimited internet for £5/mo on payg
to answer the other question, some ports are blocked but personally i have a vpn running across "3" mobile network to get access to all services, even voip
it also works as a modem, which your not supposed to be able to do, but it works
Very interesting Phycho.
At the risk of asking the "bleedin' obvious" is that with WM6?
I would be interested in a run-down on the settings for "3" as I am just in the process of purchase from them.
yes. just use the network config wizard set to 3, it just works.

[Q] Iplayer over 3G with generic ROM?

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone know what iplayer looks for to allow streaming over 3G? I have a vodafone contract and know that they allow streaming of iplayer programs (checked with original ROM) but with a generic ROM it asks to switch to wifi mode.
Any help greatly appreciated
crabby
I've been trying to work this out for o2 aswell. they might aswell just play a message when u call saying that they know nothing about the phones they sell
I don't think O2 allow 3G streaming for iplayer.
If you look at the iplayer mobile FAQ it states that 3 and Vodafone support it... but everyone else should use WIFI.
I don't want to use the bloated ROM but it's looking more and more likely that I'll have to

my htc hd is fantastic! but i want to upgrade my package to include the sky sports package, i called the call centre and they told me i have to do it through my phone via orange world.
i am currently running duttys 2.5 and there appears to be no option to connect to it
so i opened the browser (from tab) and typed in orangeworld.co.uk and i get an error message telling me that i have to access the page via an orange phone on orange gprs if using a blackberry try usin the blackberry internet service please change your default browser to orange world.
so how do i connect?
i need this as i am going to a wedding at the weekend and i want to watch fulham vs city while at the wedding
help appreciated

f;ashing your roms changes the pre-installed orange software, so unless you flash back with the orange roms then unfortunetly you can't do it... i dont think.
I'm a noob here as well and haven't got my touch as of yet, but from reading up the flashing takes away the phones identity and chagnes even the base software thats installed. I'm guessing in theory its simlar to formatting a windows xp computer and then installing vista "in theory".
Just my thoughts but sure a longer member will give you more advice... A starting point though maybe?
Going to the Orange world wap page should work on any ROM as it works ok for me on Orange using the HD and all previous devices I have had.
Just make sure you are not using Wi-Fi when going to orangeworld.co.uk or it will give you the error you posted.
You can only view orangeworld.co.uk by using the Orange data connection like GPRS, Edge, 3G and HSDPA, Wi-Fi will not work.
