Hi,
Just wondering if anyone know what iplayer looks for to allow streaming over 3G? I have a vodafone contract and know that they allow streaming of iplayer programs (checked with original ROM) but with a generic ROM it asks to switch to wifi mode.
Any help greatly appreciated

I've been trying to work this out for o2 aswell. they might aswell just play a message when u call saying that they know nothing about the phones they sell
I don't think O2 allow 3G streaming for iplayer.
If you look at the iplayer mobile FAQ it states that 3 and Vodafone support it... but everyone else should use WIFI.
I don't want to use the bloated ROM but it's looking more and more likely that I'll have to

Sky TV
For Sky TV you need the correct link, also the Live software recognises the IMEI of the handset and tailors its options to the handset, the direct link to TV is http://live.vodafone.com/idserver/!...play.do_3FnodeName=bw_5Fmobiletv1-sqjxwa3CH9e
if this doesn't work as standard try through Opera/Mini
does it hvae to be virgin contract?
can it be hacked to play on other providers or via a virgin pay as you go?
Hi there the link does not work any more help plz thanx
Hello,
Can anyone tell me if on the exec when browsing sites you can hear the music on myspace profiles?
also what is the best way to get cheap internet as i will only be buying the exec for mobile internet so need something as cheap as poss! the phone is a bonus
thanks
anyone? please
I haven't tried this (yet) so can't comment on quality. 3 pay as you go has the option to buy a months unlimited internet for £5. I don't know if that means data or is specific to port 80 access only.
Ian
I think its possible and I know internet radio is possible with the tmcp player. even youtube.
Hey,
The Exec does not take 3 'contract' phone sim cards does it? So that kicks that £5 per month internet thing?
oh yes it does. ive unlocked mine and have a "3" sim inside it, i get unlimited internet for £5/mo on payg
to answer the other question, some ports are blocked but personally i have a vpn running across "3" mobile network to get access to all services, even voip
it also works as a modem, which your not supposed to be able to do, but it works
Very interesting Phycho.
At the risk of asking the "bleedin' obvious" is that with WM6?
I would be interested in a run-down on the settings for "3" as I am just in the process of purchase from them.
yes. just use the network config wizard set to 3, it just works.
So i got my X1 yesterday.
Still trying to get my head round it all - First WinMo phone.
I know on previous phones they blocked certain features e.g. SIP, so i had to un brand it for it to work.
So i am interested what Vodafone have done to this phone (the X1). What features have they blocked etc so i know then what to expect when things don't work
Paul
Vodafone have applied a few tweaks stopped things working over wifi and force the use of gprs/3g on a few programs. The vodafone rom is not that bad but for best results I would follow the guides posted in the forum to unbrand the device. I did mine on day one it was released and have not looked back.
OK, so things like MSN, facebook panel etc i will need to use GPRS or 3G - not too much of a prob as i have their unlimited (not so unlimited) browsing and email package.
Does the WiFi work at all then? Can i use WiFi to browse the web?
What about installing things apps like Skype, Gmail etc will that work on the phone?
And (sorry for the many questions) if i unbrand the phone and 'brick it' can i rebrand it again with the vodafone ROM thats doing the rounds, or once it's bricked its bricked?
WiFi works fine (just Live which runs over GPRS).
No problem with anything else, although you might want to read up on the other Vodafone threads about some internet settings you might want to change.
Can anyone help me? Have just got the HD2 expecting to be able to subscribe to the sky sports package on t-mobile. The link on web n walk says HD2 handset not compatible. Rang t-mobile who said phone is ok, then rang HTC who said phone not compatible because it is windows.
Can anyone tell me if they have subscribed through t-mobile and how they did it?
Thanks in advance
I'm sure the phone itself is perfectly capable of streaming it, the problem is T-mobile's website not being up-to-date enough to regocnise the HD2.
Try changing the browers user agent, I'd start with the iPlayer fix from the Tips n Tricks sticky and see what happens.
first off apologies for the almost identical thread about sky mobile however this is a vodafone issue not t-mobile so i thought i should make a thread for VF instead of raiding the t-mob thread..
basicly i want to get the skysports package on vodafone...apparently there is some complication caused by vodafone ignoring the fact they have customers which own the leo - ****s!
has anyone managed to get this on there phone as vodafone live won't let me go on the website using the phone for the reason i stated above.
cheers.
im on vodafone but am not interested in any of the vodafone live features so i havent tried this but have you tried connecting to live using the vodafone contract wap access point instead of contract internet?
It is worth giving it a go as this works to get iplayer streaming over 3g/hsdpa on vodafone connections.
if you connect to iplayer using the normal contract internet access point then iplayer doesnt recognise that you are using a vodafone connection and therefore wont stream.
could work for live services also
just tried but it still didnt work, i'll have to call them at some point...
what is the difference between contract wap and contract internet if you dont mind me asking a stupid question lol
