I just found someone that was able to find a bandaid for the youtube issue...
My CDMA Hero is one of the many phones that will not play more than 90% of the videos on youtube...
I have tested it and it does work!
http://androidforums.com/sprint-htc-hero/37733-youtube-workaround-fix.html
I hope it helps you all out!!!!
PS... sorry if this have be said before!
The reason that Youtube-videos doesn't work on the Hero is that HTC have used Flash Lite 3.x which isn't compatible with Flash 10... and Youtube uses only Flash 10...
i have a gsm hero and when a video doesnt work i just click it over n over until it works, and it does work after 2-4 tries
I am new to this issue with the youtube app. But when people say it doesn't work do they mean they get the error message saying "Cannot play video: Sorry, the video cannot be played."?
Because I have found that if I press and hold on the video then click view it works 100% of the time for me.
If that isn't the case then just ignore this.
I used to have issues when i bought my phone but since i updated the firmware to the latest version the phone runs faster and is happy to play all youtube items.

Glad it worked. I hope they fix it with the new update and of course the landscape Google search.

Isn't this just the removehiddenproxy cab? If so, it's already loaded on the Pure!
I get "connecting" a lot on some videos, yet others work fine. If the linked hiddenproxy one is different, LMK, and I'll try that.

The pure has it. If you unlock medianet, you will see that there isn't a selected proxy, and you can verify "hidden proxy" with the cab...
start, tools, proxy manager.

that's obvious if you use the stock rom. if you flash a different rom that is not the case.
worse than u, i even can't run it after installation of cab...
some one said it is the problem of rom.
Notice how youtube on the internet regular computer requires you to login for even slightly risky content?
I'm thinking it's THIS.
Is there a new HTC version of youtube player that allows you to login to youtube?
just google it skyfire then download its for free......
seems to be working, but the "loading video" screen stays on top at 50% while the video plays in the background.. hmmm
Thanks for the heads up! Skyfire works like a charm, it maybe isn't as smooth as the standard browser. However the 'video tab' works really well! Finally 'kinda' flash support.
Install?
Im having problems installing the app. Once I get to the screen where they ask if I would like to install Skyfire and click install it goes back to the same screen again. Anybody else experience the same thing?
worked a treat for me.. are you downloading from the Market?.. try the old fashioned trick.. power off and on then try again!!

For Vimeo videos it does this, for youtube it plays them fine, weird.
Tried this on the BBC News website, it was supposed to show a summary of this evenings debate, what I got was a download screen that stuck at 74% while a video of Obama talking about the oil slick played behind it. Several other sites I tried it loaded the mobile version of the site which automatically assumed the browser had no flash support. Another site I tried it failed to notice the video content.
I think it is a little optimistic to call this a Beta, it shows promise but there seem to be quite a few fundamental bugs that need to be ironed out.

Has anyone successfully uploaded videos to youtube from their TMO HD2? I have the stock shipping ROM on mine
I am doing the upload from photos and video in sense
Every time I upload one it goes all the way to 100% uploaded then gives an error message that the service is not available at this time. I have tried a few times over the past 2 weeks or so and get the same thing every time, so im highly doubting its a temporary service outage at youtube

Same for me, I'd also like to know if anyone has successfully uploaded a video yet.
Yup
No problem
Here is one I uploaded...and in the info tag it says uploaded with HTC phone.. it works...I am running the 2.13 Stock ROM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8xxEfvlYHk
Works fine for me too on the updated stock ROM too bro. Just uploaded my HD2 extended battery video last night!
Bleh, I just retried and it still doesn't work. Tried on stock earlier and right now on indie's Omega XT rom and still no go
I managed to get this working by going into Manila Settings, then Data Services, then turning Youtube off and then back on.

Saw this myself today. Tried multiple times. Changing different models..ex.. HTC Vision, Nexus S and nothing was working. I was really hoping that with the new update it would have been possible to use netflix on Bravo.
install fine. starts to stream BUT stops after a second. goes back to home page of netflix.
I have a Nexus 7. I have root. No custom ROM; the most modding I did was adding a cool font. I have Skype. I have tried both the official version and the lasted SkypeMod. I have downloaded and run CameraLauncher.
Here's the problem: When I am in a video call, I can see the other person just fine AND I can see myself in the little box in the corner. However, the other person cannot see me. They just see a little circle going round and round like it's waiting for me to transmit.
I have verified all settings and that I can soot and record video. This is driving me mental and ANY help or thoughts that could lead me in the right direction are greatly appreciated in advance.

have you tried re-installing the app?
try another video chatting application (Google+ Hangouts, GTalk) and see if they give the same issue. then youll know if its the app itself or some hardware issue

This is a good troubleshooting step and I will try it later today, but like I said I can see myself in the little box in the corner while skyping and I can run the camera app.
Thank you for your suggestions so far. I'll be back tonight with results.
I can't even get Skype to login here.

Thanks, but I've tried that one too. I must be doing something wrong because I can't find anyone else with this problem.

Rarely use skype but did try it on my rooted/stock nexus 7 and got exactly what you describe, video on nexus 7 but not on recipient's computer (only audio).
Could it be because you are rooted that causes the issue...... Like sky go you can only use if not rooted. Try using voodoo ota to temp hide root and then restart Skype.
Don't use Skype, not sure if affected by root. No harm in trying.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Maybe fixed?

That is the version I am using too.
I realized today that I am a moron. I was only testing the Skype with one recipient. so, what if the problem was on their end?
Turns out, they were using a laptop with a mobile data card. I just used my wife's phone with the Skype app and all went well. video on both sides. :victory:
However!!! I need to continue testing because before I tried that I fund the advanced settings in SkypeMod that forces video calling! I checked Force-enable Video-calling, Force Camera Rotation, and Unlock Orientation.
Since I had to search high and low for someone with the same problem and no resolution, I understand how frustrating that can be. I will continue updating this thread and [SOLVED] it when I am satisfied that I got the answer for the people from the future.

New info!
The SkypeMod makes skype work on my rooted EVO 4G! that's a two year old phone. I had long since given up hope of using skype. This is awesome. That is all.
/onlyhalfthetime
P.S. When I'm not poor (I got the nexus 7 for Christmas, haters), I'm gonna throw the dev a few shekels. :good:
It was indeed the other person's issue. No one else could Skype him either. That was silly on my part. However, I did uninstall SkypeMod and reinstall the regular app and got no video with anyone. Maybe because I'm rooted? Using SkypeMod I was able to skype anyone and they could see my video. Just make sure you go into the advanced settings and force enable video.
What an awesome apk. I am still floored that it works on my EVO 4g!
Marked thread solved. Have a good one, gentlemen and ladies. :highfive:
