A little help if you could - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Ok, so I've been having the same problems over and over. I can't get Ext3 to show up on settings/sd card manager or whatever.
I fully wiped, did partitioning of swap/fat32/ext2 from amon ra's recovery image and upgraded to ext 3. I then used Super D's rom and installed it. Love the rom btw, everyone should at least try it.
Now... I go into settings and it doesn't show the ext3 on the SD card secondary.
And if I move the apps to the SD card via Amon Ra's recovery image, my programs don't work along with my widgets. wtf do i do lol.
32b btw

nobody? beuller?

how to tell if my apps2SD is working/turned on

I'm on a 32b mytouch.
with AMON_RA 1.2.3 recovery and CM 4.2.13
I used the amon_Ra recovery to setup my card. wipe~> wipe Dxxxx~> format with ext 2 ~> convert ext2 to 3
From what CM site says it should work 100% on its own. I have a feeling its not the case with my phone, is there a way to confirm this.
Its automatic, theres a Apps2SD script in the rom that starts up on boot to activate the EXT. You can type df in terminal to see how much space is being used and some roms allow you to see secondary storage via settings which is EXT partition.

Assuming you've partitioned your phone correctly, Cyanogen ROMS have an automatic apps2sd feature installed. Another very easy way to confirm is to go to select menu, settings, Sd card and phone storage, check how much internal phone storage you have. Then, go into market place, install a few random apps, go back to your sd card and phone storage and recheck your internal memory. If the number has decreased, then your apps are still being installed onto your internal memory and something isn't right.
when i pull out my SD card. should all my apps disappear?
i'm assuming it should, when i remove my SD all my apps are fully functioning.

apps2sd sprint hero using Fresh 2.4

I have been trying for days to get apps2sd to work on my phone. I am running Fresh 2.4 with clockworkmod/rom manager (premium). I have tried using rom manager to format and partition the sd card, 512 swap 32. Then I have to reset as I get stuck in a boot loop, but that shouldnt effect the sd. So then I try to partition again and flash Fresh 2.4 again, nothing I dont know what could be going wrong, I have read that I need to switch ext2 to ext3 but I dont see where to do that in recovery. BUT that shouldnt effect the apps2sd anyway, the ext3 just extends the card life from what I have read, no? Has anyone been through this and has a easy (hopefully) answer for me
Thanks
i find that when setting up a2sd partitions i have more success using amon's recovery.

Can I find that here on XDA? Also will I have to install Fresh again for the rom to recognize the apps2sd, from what I understand the apps2sd is built into Fresh.
OK, I found it. This might be a stupid question but how do I get it on the phone? Do I put it on sd card and use manage applications to install it? Or is it not an app like rom manager?

android rom not booting

I have been attempting to get WP7 working on my hd2, but have given up as I just can't get the thing to activate. So I have been trying to put android back on, but nothing I try installing now comes out bootable. I've even tried putting it back to an official rom before installing (or trying to) android. whereas that rom works, the android install still fails to boot.
Anyone got any suggestions?
which rom are you trying to install? cwm or daf install?
cwm install, imilka's vision sense.
Hi,
I have HD2 with 3.03.0000 SPL, 2.15.50.14 radio, ROM 3.14.479.2 (04666) WWE.
I tried to boot SuperRAM_FroYo_V1.5.
Everything is ok, but when green HTC logo appears, phone is restarting to Windows... Can someone tell me what I need to do to boot Android ? I tried to search, but I dont find answer.
Thanks.
Looking into it farther, it's looking like when i try to install from clockworkmod recovery (3.0.0.5) that I have booting off my sd-card, the install goes far too wuick. it doesn't even create partitions or anything. Could it be the wp7 rom caused some areas of the phone to be 'locked' or something similar?

You have reformatted your SD Card to original size after using WP7, have you? If not, download Panaspnic SD Formatter and format your SD card using that.
Are you guys making sure you have right CWR system layout size for the ROM you're trying to flash? That's usually the problem if it won't get past the first Android bootscreen.
Task 29
Flash radio
Reformat sdcard
Flash magdlr1.13
Flash cwm recovery with correct partition size.150, 200mb etc.
Flash rom
Tbe task 29 and sdcard reformat should revers any possibilities of something still hanging around from wp7

Only use this if just flashing the correct CWR partition won't work. There's also no need to reflash the radio. Task 29 only formats the NAND area.
Yeah, I did a full set of partitions on my sd card. not sure it was needed as wp7 didn't recognise the card.
Depends on which task 29 he finds in his search. Also if this is somehow radio related (seriously doubt) why not reflash it anyways, not gonna hurt. Since we dont know exactly whats wrong why not just redo eveything. Only takes about 5 minutes. And pretty much guaranteed to boot

Full set of partitions? Meaning you've got a FAT32 first partition and a Ext3/4 second partition? What CWR do you have installed though? It might be the wrong size for the ROM you're trying to flash. You can check what size CWR partition you have by opening the flash.cfg file (inside of your CWR folder) and find the line with 'system ya | 300' etc.

Oh. Guessing u have a leo512 and partitioning sdcard for apps2 sd. Wp7 still got ahold of your sdcard and did something.

Yeah. I have the partitions set up as follows
1. Fat32 13gigs (ish)
2. Ext4 1gig
3. Ext4 350mb
3. linux swap 150gig.
the version of my clockworkmod recovery thing is v.3.0.0.5 and is running off my sd card, not actually installed on the phone. This has all worked for me fine until i put wp7 on, now nothing seems to be working. sigh.
Running off your SD card as in the intrid and zImage file are in there? I suggest you just update your CWR to the newest version (1.3). It doesn't need those files to be copied to the SD Card and runs off NAND. In MAGLDR it has it's own menu too. (AD Recovery). For me, I just have a load of different recovery folders with different partition sizes but it's not needed. I suggest you download the 150M CWR and then just change the partition size to whatever is needed. You just change the System ya | -150- to whatever size is needed. It'll probably be in the first post of the ROM you're downloading.

You need to format your whole sdcard. Whatever your using to format isnt seeing everything. Some partition types are only seen by linux. What partition tool are you using?

I used gparted to give it it's fresh lot of partitions
Have you tried what I said to do?
Ok, got recovery flashed in and running out of magldr. When it comes to partitioning the sd card, what is the advantage of 4 partitions over 3, as some rom threads say to partition 4, some say 3.
You mean an Ext3/4 partition? I honestly don't know and I just use an Ext3 partition as it's easier to do on XP. Both work though fine though.
Have you flashed your ROM yet?

Installin a larger ROM help plz... :o/

Im kinda new to this but i have been reading & trying for a few days before asking for help but i feel i am stuck now.
I have gone through the process & installed a small rom with clockworkmod using a 150mb partition & it went ok.
Now i want to install a larger rom eg. pyramid_HTC_WWE_1.35.401.1_v1.5_EU.zip (338mb) using clockworkmod & this is where i have the problem, i have followed the steps but when installing the rom it freezes just under halfway install.
Using bootloader I have now used Task29 for a clean install, then installed MAGLDR113, using MAGLDR i used option 5 (USB flasher) & installed the unzipped () to make a partition for the larger rom.
After reboot i went to magldr option 8.AD Recovery & loaded clockworkmod, advanced then partition SD card, chose EXT size=1024, swap size=0M then rebooty.
Now am i supposed to see 4 partitionson my SD card because i cant?
one page i read that i should now transfer my ROM.zip to my Sd card, & i also read on another page that i should go to "mounts & storage" & chose "format sd-ext" I have tried both ways!
With the rom.zip on my card, i chose the "install zip from sdcard" option etc, it installs to just under half way then just stays there for ages, how long should this take for a 338mb zip file?
So i giveup, battery out & try it with a smaller zip (hyperdroid-cm7) 69mb zip & it installs ok, so where am i goin wrong??
Q1, after partitioning the SD card am i supposed to see 4 partitions on the card? because i dont, maybe i should partition it on my pc, do i just divide it into 4 partitions & name then ext, ext1, ext2, ext3? or is there a guide for doin it on ur pc?
Q2.can anyone see where else i might be going wrong?
I feel i am just doin the same thing over & over so thanks for any help you can give.
Something strange i have noticed that if i use the HD2 toolkit to try & create a 400mb partition i get an error sayin something about not enough space, i have to use a seperate Recovery_400M.zip that i downloaded from the NFEUMAN pages?
first of all your sd card patition is right. you must have 2 partitions, fat 32 and sd-ext. now in hd2 nand tool kit choose mgldr partition size as 'custom' then cache size 5MB then click repartition in usb flasher mode then write 190 in the opening window not 400. that's all.
I have managed to get the rom to bootup now after waiting for ages, but when booted it says the memory is low so im guessing its not using the SD card, when i look at the SD card i do not see any partitions so the partitioning tool in clockworkmod hasnt worked, is there a better way to partition the SD card for use with the rom?
you can see the partition in your sd by root explorer apk. or you can dowload to your pc mini tool partition magic an you can manage your partitions. windows doesn't see it.
Theres no mention when partitioning your SD card that you wont be able to see the partitions, i think they should mention that in the tutorials.
I downloaded gparted to partition my SD card & when i loaded it i could see that it had in fact worked when i had done it before.
I installed Apps2SD+ to see if it would sort out the low memory problem but the phone wouldnt boot, i waited 20 mins but it just stayed at the strtup screen.
I am doin it over again now with the partition size you suggested so hopefully this will work, should this allow more space for apps with this partition size?
i used the rom you try to use a few days ago. you dont have to install apps2sd etc. the rom just do that. so wipe everything and flash the rom, you will not face any room problem. to free some ram,you can use built in task manager or a task killer.
Hey mutil i have reinstalled the rom & it seems to be working great, but how do i use apps2SD? when i install new apps will they automaticly be installed to the SD card now, or do i have to chose the options somehow? thx.
yes they will go directly to sd-ext. if some applications like angry birds give force close error then get titanium backup from market, find the app that gives errorin titanium, long press on the app then choose 'move to sd'.
mutil thx for that advise. i just wanna ask you, before you installed the rom, what size clockwork mod recovery partition did you use? I used 190 as suggested above, but now reading back through the thread i see you can use a 170mb partition. Is it would be worth me doing it again as a 170mb partition, would i get any benifit do you think?
It doesn't worth to make a new partition. There will not be a great difference. Good luck.

cant mount SD

I have successfully rebooted into recovery but I can not mount the SD card to ROM this thing. I have read through a bunch of threads and to little help. So could someone please throw me a bone here? Thank you.
What your mean u cant mount, is it doesnt detect your sdcard.
so what your sdcard partition?
and what ROM are u using...
It will not detect the SD in CWM. I am not sure of the partition. I am using the stock ICS ROM.
If you are talking about the microSD card, some versions of CWM will not mount it. Some will only use internal memory. I'm guessing that is a big part of your issue.
Ok. What version of CWM do I need to use to see my microSD card?
fixed it.
I have this same problem. How did You fix that problem? At the moment I can't make a backup in CWM
I didnt bother doing a backup. I went into CWM and used the oldest version it would let me. Then I could see the internal SD. It wasnt until I booted as you would a ROM the CWM fixed for the TF101 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1213723. This is the one that worked for me.
