hello community!
i'm new here, but the search didnt help.
is it possible to turn off the messages about visible wlan networks?
thanks for your help!
Already tried going to the settings tab, tapping 'Menu', then 'All settings', going to 'Sounds & Notifications', then to the tab 'Notifications' and uncheck the options at the Event 'Wireless network detected'?
thanks for the fast help!
i've never been in there and it was already disabled.
i will test it, maybe one of the cabs i recently installed turned the notification off (i installed new task bar icons).
unfortunatly this did not solve the problem.
so far i did the following:
- turned the option you mentioned on and off again
- soft reset
- found another setting under: settings -> more -> connections -> WLAN -> wireless networks -> menu -> extended -> uncheck "messages on availability" (it was already unchecked).
sorry, all this is translated from the german UI, hope you get the idea what i mean. and this setting didnt help either...
any other ideas?
(just to clarify, i want to turn off the notifications i get in the task bar)
thanks all for your help!
edit: i am running std. rom, all htc updates, 3d drivers from here, new task bar icons
shameless bump. i know it's only a minor issue compared to others.
but does anyone have an idea how to get rid of those?
thanks guys!

Ive noticed some of the roms have a desktop wifi and bluetooth status bar, just wondered if that is a seperate available download that will work on WM5???
This will sort you out.....
....same as a search of the forum and the Wiki would....
Install the attached CAB, go to Start | Settings | Today | Items tab and tick the "Wireless" option, then "ok" your way back out and it will be there.
You can also change the behaviour of the plugin so that it jumps to Comm Manager when you tap on it (so you can switch WLAN/BT on/off) - but you gotta search the Wiki for that one
HTH,
Mark.
Works a treat, thanks, any other nifty little tools that might be of interest???
thanks for that one, just what I have been after.
Hello.
To overcome this situation, activate in Start -> Settings -> (7) -> (1) -> (7) -> (2) -> (5) -> Energy Saving, change it to Better Performance..
It boosted my wlan reception and now can connect always at first try.. didn't noticed additional battery drain tho...
Regards, Ricardo.
Hello,
I'm having this same problem but I have the Verizon version (ozone). My menus are different than yours and I wind up in the USB tethering settings when I follow your instructions.
If it's not too much trouble, can you write out the menu names to get to the wifi settings? I've looked in my menus and can't find them anywhere.
Thanks.

open com manager (fn-space), go press the settings button, WLAN settings, power mode.
Thanks; i appreciate it.
I'm loving my HD2, and I'm very happy with the HTC Sense UI, but there's a couple of things that are really bugging me.
One of them is just stupid.
I'm a developer myself, but a Windows dev, not really mobile, and there's NO WAY ON THIS EARTH that I would EVER make a menu that only had 1 option in it.
With that in mind, why on earth do I have to go to Settings, Menu, and then All Settings, to get the settings menu???
Okay, I understand it going to the settings tab, but why there's a menu titled 'Menu' that only has the 1 option of 'All Settings' in it I'll never know. It would make much more sense to just have 'All Settings' instead of 'Menu'.
Can anyone in-the-know give some pointers on how this might be changed? A CAB file would obviously be preferable , but I'm happy to look into this a bit myself.
I know there's some über geniuses on these forums (suck suck). Can any of you help out?
yeah it's not very ergonomically sound
The 'original' settings shortcut is hidden, you can show it by modifying:
HKLM\Security\Shell\StartInfo\HideSettings
Change it from 1 to 0, soft reset, then delete the settings shortcut in windows\Start Menu\Programs
edit: more info here (and it seems you can't delete the 'new' settings link)

Cheers mate. Bit annoying that we have to hack a step back to get some basic functionality, but better that than nothing.
Thanks
It is indeed a bit strange...
We can say that it is a kind of "protection"... To avoide people playing with your mobile to be directly in the settings ...
That is the only reason I see so far (maybe not a good one)
Well, what settings do you need that are in the original WM settings screen and not in HTC's 'More -> Settings'?
But yeah, the 'More' menu with only one item is pretty ridiculous indeed.
I have a question how to make guick link on main screen to settings (WM settings not manila settings)?
In BSB tweaks, there's the option to have Windows Settings as on/off. I have mine on, which gives me two "gear" icons - one is Settings, the other is Manilla Settings. The Settings icon takes me straight to the All Settings you mention.
Any good for you?
All,
Couldn't find anything about this searching this forum and Google. We have an HTC HD2 from Vodafone. At first glance the only thing Vodafone has changed seems to be the boot screen...
But it seems they changed some other things to. First snag I ran into is turning off Sense. You are supposed to go to "Settings --> All settings --> Today". Now comes the problem. Appearantly in this dutch version there is no "all settings, only "other settings"". Checked all the settings options, but there is no today in there anywhere.
So I found the registry hack on this forum to display hidden settings. Performed the hack, resetted the phone and.... nothing. No change at all.
I'm stumped...
Any of you know how to open the Today settings via a file explorer or something. Would be much appreciated
on the settings screen, press menu and there you will find 'all settings'
First off, i have spent several hours looking through this forum and cannot find an answer.
I turned off sense yesterday through the home/today settings in the settings menu so i could just see what the base os looked like and now i cannot access the settings menu, or turn sense back on. Also there is no link in my start menu for settings. Not in the tools, or app folder.
Please forgive me if this is a wasteful post i didnt know where else to ask.
Thanks
Enable it through BSB Tweaks.
start button > settings > home > check sense
He said he couldn't access the settings menu in the start menu because it would redirect to the sense one which was disabled. . .BSB Tweaks can enable the regular settings menu so he can enable sense again.
hklm/security/shell/start info
change hidesettings to 0 and it will show in start menu.
Thanks all.
Thank you. I am so used to android. The reg tibp and the bsb tip both work, but i actually made a script to pull the settings program wrom the windows dir onto the menu as a short cut.
Im glad there are people on here willing t help!
